Did you see the Perdue Short Cuts “Try Them Today” rebate offer in the 1/9 RP? It’s a mail-in rebate, but it’s a pretty easy one to do, especially since you’ll take home TWO 9oz. packages of Perdue Short Cuts sliced chicken for just .74, or .37 each. Here’s how the deal goes…
Perdue Short Cuts are on sale for $6.29, Buy One Get One Free. In the same 1/9 RP insert, there’s a coupon for .75 off Perdue Short Cuts. So, buy two. After coupon, pay $5.54. The mail-in rebate is good for up to $5.24 — so, after rebate, .30 for 2 packages. And, with the cost of your .44 stamp, you’re total out-of-pocket is .74!
If you have TWO .75 coupons, pay $4.79 – send in for rebate, and pay just your .44 stamp for two! That’s .22 a package!
Whew. Of course, you could also wait until these are on sale for less than $5.24 somewhere and mail in for one free, but .74 for two is a better deal, in my opinion — these are really nice for quick meals at home and they don’t go on sale too often.
Reader Adrimom spotted a great deal on VitaminWater! They’re on sale for $1 each. Buy 10 and receive an instant $3 savings. Before you buy them, look for the new Jewel coupon book in the store — it’s got a $3-off-10 VitaminWater coupon inside! So, you’ll pay $4 for 10 bottles, or .40 each!
Glade Air Freshener sprays are on sale for $1.89 each, Buy One Get One Free. Use the $1 coupon from 12/5/10 RP and pay .89 for two, or about .45 a can!
Brooks Chili Beans (16oz.) are on sale for $1.49 a can, Buy One Get One Free. Use the .55-off-2 coupon from 10/10/10 SS and pay .94 for two, or .47 a can!
Better Oats oatmeal is on sale for $1 a box (5-6ct.) Print this Facebook B1G1F coupon and get TWO for $1, or .50 each!
Still holding those nice $2.25 Electrasol/Finish coupons from the 1/2 SS2 insert? Reader Pndm96 writes that Electrasol/Finish is on sale for $2.99 at Jewel. With coupon, pay .74! No, it’s not free… but Jewel is much more likely to have it in stock, unlike the drugstores…
Here’s a little deal on Chex Mix. It’s on sale for $2 a bag (not a great price.) But, Chex Mix is also part of a national Catalina deal — buy 3 and get a $1.50 Catalina; buy 4 and get a $2.50 Catalina, or buy 5 or more and get a $3.50 Catalina.
The 1/2 GM insert has a .50-off-2 coupon for Chex Mix. If you got multiple newspapers last weekend, as many shoppers do around the New Year (5-insert weekend!) here’s how it can look:
Buy 4 Chex Mix ($8)
Use two .50-off-2 coupons ($1.00 off.)
Pay $7 and get a $2.50 Catalina — $4.50 for 6 is .75 a bag!
The Chex Mix is also part of the “Buy 10 and get 50 Box Tops” promotion (schools collect these as fundraisers — they print on a Catalina at checkout.) Honestly, there aren’t any crazy-good deals on the rest of these things. A reader wrote to ask if the Progresso soup was a good buy this week, but it was free in October, and if you’ve been following the site at least that long, you’re likely well-stocked on free soup! If not, the 1/2 GM and the 11/21/10 SS have $1-off-4 coupons in them that would make this .75 a can.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals
Jewel half-gallons of orange juice are $2.50 each.
Shoppers Value bologna and cotto salami are $1.79 each (16oz. packages.)
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
FIVE DAYS LEFT! $25 Jewel-Osco Gift Card rebate: $25 worth of FREE Kimberly-Clark paper products! – AVAILABLE FOR ALL STORES!
I’m not a huge rebater (honestly, a rebate has to be double-digits [$10 or more] to catch my interest.) But did you see the $25 Jewel Gift Card rebate? The wording on this one is a little confusing regarding using coupons on the products. The terms state “Total net price (excluding taxes, coupons or any other discounts) of purchased Kimberly-Clark products must be $25.00 or more.” However, “net price” usually means AFTER all discounts (“gross” would be before any discounts.)
To be on the safe side, I would go over $25 AFTER coupons. With the gift card, you’re still getting the $25 back regardless, but if you use coupons, you’re bringing more products home for your $25, if that makes sense. People looking for diaper deals will love this — free or crazily cheap diapers! (You could buy that $29.99 diaper box too with the $2 peelie, pay $27.99 and get $25 back — that’s a lot of diapers for $2.99.)
Or, stock up on what you need. $25 worth of toilet paper or paper towels may seem like a lot to bring home at once, but if it’s FREE? Go for it!
Note too that this rebate is valid through 1/15/11 while supplies last. If you don’t jump on this one right away, there is a chance you may not receive the card, as we don’t know how many gift cards are actually allocated to this promotion.
Jewel-Osco information:
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there (and they answer promptly!)
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too. I’d recommend getting on their list if you shop there.
Coupon books currently found at Jewel:
Savings for a Better You – $55 worth of coupons
Morningstar $10 Worth of Savings – (Morningstar and Hidden Valley Ranch coupons)
Jewel meat deals:
- Jewel whole fryer chickens or leg quarters are .99/lb.
- Jennie-O hen or tom frozen turkeys are .99/lb.
- Butterball hen or tom frozen turkeys are $1.29/lb.
- Jewel spiral sliced half hams are $1.79/lb.
- Perdue chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.99/lb.
Jewel seafood deals:
- 4oz. frozen salmon portions are $1 each ($4/lb.)
Jewel produce deals:
- 3lb. bags of red or gold potatoes are $3.79, Buy One Get One Free — for 6lbs, that’s about .63/lb.
- 5lb. bags of grapefruit are $3.49 each – that’s about .70/lb.
- 3lb. bags of Cara Cara navel oranges are $3.49 – that’s about $1.16/lb.
- 3lb. bags of Cuties clementines are $4.49 – that’s $1.49/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick’s deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons are being rolled into the “Just For U” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also now load these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

That’s a good price for the bananas, and if you’re a “blinkie” coupon collector, you may also have a .50 off 2lbs. of Dole Bananas (exp) that you picked up in the fall to drop this even more. With the Crest, use the .75 coupon from 12/26/10 PG for .24 toothpaste, or the $1 coupon from the 2011 P&G Year of Savings coupon book to get it FREE!
Dominick’s is running a “Buy 5, Save $5” special on Oscar Mayer products this week. Prices shown are AFTER “Buy 5” discount. You must buy 5 to receive these prices. Best bets?

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the oter Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

CVS is running another “Spend $20, Get $10” ECB deal on Maalox, Gas-X, Prevacid and Benefiber. There are no prices in the ad, but knowing there was a high-value Maalox coupon ($5!) coming in the 1/9 SS1, I checked the price last week – $5.99. If you got multiple inserts this past weekend, buy 4 Maalox ($23.96.) Use four $5 coupons. Pay $3.96 and get $10 back in ECBs! ALL FREE and a moneymaker!
Reader Jewelover emailed that Gas-X is $6.99 at her store. Again, if you’re a multiple-inserts person, buy 3 bottles ($20.97.) Use three $4 coupons from 12/12 SS. Pay $8.97 and get $10 back in ECBs! ALL FREE and a moneymaker!
As the Super Bowl approaches, we’re starting to see the chip-and-pop deals come around, and this week, there’s a good one… CVS has Pepsi, Gatorade, Amp, Izze, Starbucks, Sobe, Doritos and Lays involved in a “Spend $20, Get $10” ECB deal.
Prices:
Pepsi 12-packs: 3-for-$10
Pepsi 2-liters, Gatorade single bottles or Sobe single bottles: $1
Izze 4-packs – $2.99
Amp or Starbucks Frappuccino 4-packs – $4.99
Doritos or Lays – $2.50
The easiest and best deal I see? Buy six 12-packs of Pepsi product. Pay $20 and get $10. $10 for six 12-packs is $1.67 per 12-pack, or .14 a can!
CVS has another “Spend $25, get $10 in ECBs” deal going on Kleenex, Cottonelle and Scott products. If you need paper products, you could do this deal:
Buy any TWO items priced at $10 (Scott 10-packs paper towels, Scott 24-roll bath tissue, or Cottonelle 18-roll bath tissue.)
Buy one Cottonelle wet wipes tub or refill ($2.)
Buy one Kleenex 3-box pack (110ct. boxes – $3.)
Now, you’re at $25, pre-coupon. Use the .50 Kleenex coupon from 1/2 SS1 or 12/5. If you bought Scott, print this $1 coupon for paper towels OR toilet paper. (If you bought 2 Scott, print twice.) If you bought Cottonelle, print this .50 coupon.
With two $1 coupons and one .50 coupon, pay $22.50 and get $10 back — ultimately, $12.50 for all of your paper.
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! And, CVS is now advertising a Thursday preview of the coming Sunday’s ad at www.cvs.com/weeklyad, so check in on Thursday…

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I also did this today:
Stayfree Maxi @$6.79 – get 2
BOGO from the 1/9 SS (take out $6 since it is the max)
$1.00/1 from 11/7 RP
less $3.00*2=$6 off with in-ad coupon.
58 cents for both.
I had to try 2 walgreens since the first one, instead of taking out $6 for the BOGO wanted to take out $6.79 – $3 – $1 (Q) = $2.79 interesting thinking.
Also Jergen Ultra Healing Lotion $4.29 each
$3/2 coupon found in the 12/5 SS
Pay $5.58 Get back a $5 RR
so $0.58 for 2 lotions
Plenty of those products on the shelves.

Another good deal at Jewel this week…
Buy 10 bottles of vitamin water on sale 10/$10 and you get an automatic $3 off.
There’s also a $3 off 10 bottles coupon in the Jewel coupon book by the door.

I made the mistake of not reading the rebate form before purchasing 4 of the Perdue Short Cuts and cutting out the UPCs (opps), but the rebate states only ONE rebate per household…

I’m still new to this and was wondering if you could use the B1G1 Coupon and the $1 off 2 and only pay $1.50 and get the $2RR???? So that would make it a profit of $.50???

The old orachard frozen juice is part of the buy 10 for $10 and there is a $1 off any old orachard juice in the Kelloggs booklet. Also Bestlife buttery spread is 99 cents and there is a $1 off coupon in one of the past few weeks inserts. I couldn’t find it on coupontom. I clipped it a few days ago and don’t remember which insert but its one of the more recent ones.

Check your stores I have gotten a free carrying bag purchasing the vitamin water, powerade and fuze deal. Its red and has a picture of a bottle of vitamin water on the front.

Since no Qs for it, use the Goldfish crackers as your 11th/Free item. Read on MUM awhile back that her “free” items weren’t giving any value to the attached coupons – adjusting value automatically to $0 for each 11th “free” item. Did this in Dec. & had to watch the order as I was scanning, so a non-coupon item went through as #11. Kids very happy w/3 bonus bags of crackers!
yamiagemini says
I see that Dom’s Snuggle is 3 for $10 again, if you haven’t used the 3/28 RP expirieds for $3/1. I also seen on MUM that there is a snuggle Cat running buy 3 get $3 onyo, so could be a MM.

I cannot find the Lloyd’s coupon on the Dominick’s website. I live in Round Lake, IL and I tried changing my zip code to Huntley, IL but it still wasn’t there. Any ideas?

got through most of the Que Rica Vida registration and the only problem is answerin the Clave question.

I had a bummer of a time at Jewel. Even though the sign said “buy 3 get $1.50 off your next purchase” at the Chex Mix, nothing printed. I had bought four and used two coupons – but that still left me spending $7 for them. I had rung out at a self-check, so the supervisor tried to ring them out on her machine – still nothing. So she gave me $1.50, plus tax – which was very kind – but I was hoping for the $2.50 Cat – though the sign didn’t mention it. . . And then only the Glade regular were BOGO and my coupon was for $1.00 off premium.
Still – some good deals to be found – thanks, Jill!
mrsjd2 says
I was at WalMart and looking for the single-use Tide to get for free with the $1.00 coupon – it’s not by the detergent (though I did find another coupon left there by someone else who had no luck, too!) – it’s over by the “travel size” items in cosmetics. I was able to get four for free – and boy did that cashier read every word on the coupon looking for a size requirement!
dkmulder says
(That’s fun to say!) $4.50 for four bags is 1.12 each not that great but better than $2 if you need it.

In the Blue $70 savings book from Dominick’s a while back, there is a $1 off Safeway pizza coupon on the last page. Does anyone know if this can be used with the super coupon making the pizza 1.99? Or does a safeway coupon not work with a super coupon? Please let me know.
dolrskolr says
My Reach toothbrush deal didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped. They even spread them on the counter looking for them and, if you don’t have one, and they think there’s one in the paper, the cashier looks for it BEFORE ringing up the others.
It affects the mfrs coupon deduction also. On a B1G1 coupon, with the Wags store coupon 1st, the amount deducted is the price AFTER the store coupon. Does not make a better deal, that’s for sure.
ellierose2002 says
I was at the Crystal Lake Dominicks today, and they are running a buy 3 cards (priced $1.99 or more) and get a $5 Catalina. I had some coupons from a tear pad which expired in November for $2.00 off of 2 cards priced $1.99 or more. So, with 2 coupons, when you purchase 4 cards, you pay $7.96-$4.00, and get a $5 cat for $1.06 money maker!
libuse says
I just went to Dominicks and bought 8 boxes of Kelloggs cereal (6 Raisin Bran, 2 Apple Jacks) and got 2 catalina coupons for a free gallon of milk, up to $4!!! So, I’m thinking that if you buy 4 at a time, that is what triggers the coupon? It was a nice surprise! I got 2 gallons for chocolate milk for free! NICE
Kitey15 says
Jill said they are B1G1. Can I use 2 $1 off coupons then?
uasklisa says
Meijer is currently offering $2 off when you buy 2 Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Products, and $2 off when you buy 2 Scrubbing Bubbles products via M Perks.
I used my 1/9 SS coupon for Buy one toilet gel / get one fresh brush free for this deal.
Toilet gel is $4.33 at Meijer in Plainfield. I received BOTH $2 off discounts. $4.33-$2-$2= $ .33 PLUS free Fresh Brush Kit ($.6.89).
Watch the free coupon…their system tried to credit me the $4.33 only, but I made them read the coupon and they did credit the full $6.89 as it is not a BOGO it’s a ‘buy this/ get that’
q-pon says
Don’t forget to cut out the $10 gift card coupon with the purchase of a new or transferred Rx that was in the Target ad this week. You never know when you’ll need it. ;)

Hi. I went to Dominick’s today because I like the convenience of individually frozen chicken breasts and at $1.59/lb I was happy. I also bought fruit snacks and my children are happy. But I didn’t get the $1.59/lb price. I came home, pulled up the shopping list online and there it was. I called 877-SAFEWAY. I did eventually get the amount credited to my card. But I had to explain over and over and over again what was going on. My husbands card isn’t linked to mine so maybe that was the problem. No, I used my card on the website and at the store. Did you use your husband’s card? And so on. Yikes!!!!! I had to pick up kids or I would have gone immediately to customer service.
Sigh. All done venting. :)
