“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

This one’s been running for a while, but my local store just got the cards in for it! If you shop at Jewel-Osco with children, stop by the customer service counter for a Jewel-Osco Healthy Eaters Kids Club membership card for your child. The card is free, and any time your child shops with you, he or she can get a FREE small Red Delicious apple or a free banana by scanning the card at checkout. The card is reusable and valid through 8/15/12. (Your child must be present and shopping with you to use the card.) My little guy was thrilled that has a “free coupon card” and enjoyed getting his free banana this week!

“Spend $30, Get $10” BABY Catalina Sale Buying $30 or more of the following items will generate a $10 Catalina! Only one Catalina will be generated per transaction. While the ad states that the $30 is calculated after manufacturer coupons are redeemed, the deals rarely work that way in the store and instead work on a pre-coupon total of $30. If you choose to use a pre-coupon total of $30, and your Catalina does not print, you are assuming this risk and any consequences. Also note that the $10 Catalina you receive is for your next BABY PRODUCT purchase. Here are your products and matchups: Baby Basics Diapers Big Pack (64-96ct.) – $15.99 Baby Basics Wipes Refill (192-216ct.) – $4.99 Gerber 2nd Foods 2-packs (3.5oz. each) – $1.11 Huggies Big Pack Diapers, Pull-Ups or Goodnites – $19.99 Huggies Wipes (184-216ct.) – $6.29 __________________________ DEAL IDEAS: The Baby Basics diapers are a good buy here. Buying two Big Packs will cost $31.98 and you’ll get a $10 Catalina back, dropping this to $21.98 for two, or $10.99 per box! Look for $1 peelie coupons on boxes too (if your store has them) and save even more. Ditto the Baby Basics baby wipes here. Buy 6 packages of wipes ($29.94) and one Gerber 2nd food ($1.11, now $31.05.) Pay $31.05 and get a $10 Catalina. That drops you to $21.05 for 6 packs of wipes, or about $3.51 each, plus a “free” Gerber food. Prefer Huggies diapers? Here’s a crazy deal if you use Mperks ecoupons AND you’re shopping for a baby (how’s that for a deal setup? It sounds like an informercial!) Meijer’s got a fun little deal running on Beech-Nut Baby Foods. We just saw these in a Catalina deal last month, and here’s another chance to stock up on the cheap.
Beech-Nut Stage 2 foods are on sale for .40 per jar. When you buy 16, you’ll get a $3 Catalina. Here’s a $2-off-16 Beech-Nut printable… and guess what’s on Mperks? A $2-off-16 store ecoupon!
So, let’s put the deal together. 16 jars at .40 each is $6.40. With your $2 coupon and $2 store ecoupon, you’re at $2.40.
Pay $2.40 and get a $3 Catalina… and you’ve got FREE baby food, baby!
10ct. Kool-Aid Jammers drink pouches are $1.67 each. Mperks has a $1-off-3 ecoupon, so buy three. After coupon, pay $4.01 for three, or $1.34 each!
Reader Olivia writes that there is a sign up at her store (McHenry) advertising $3 instant savings when you buy three Kool Aid Jammers too! I wasn’t able to try this deal over the weekend, but if this is running everywhere, you’d pay $1.01 for three, or about .33 per box!
Here’s another Meijer deal courtesy of Olivia. Kikkoman marinades and soy sauces (16oz.) are on sale for $1.56 each. There are national Catalinas running on both Kikkoman marinades and soy sauces: Buy two marinades and get a $1.50 Catalina; buy three and get a $2 Catalina. Or, buy two soy sauces and get a $1 Catalina; buy three and get a $2 Catalina.
To do the deal, but three of EITHER one, but make sure you have three marinades OR three soy sauces. Use three $1 printables (another printable here!)
So, let’s break it down. With three bottles and three coupons, you’ll pay $1.68, post coupon, for your three Kikkomans. Then, you’ll get a $2 Catalina back, making ALL free and a moneymaker!
If you’re not doing the sauces deal (or your store sells out of them) Kikkoman seasoning packets are almost always under $1 in price. Use the $1 printables and take these home FREE!
Smart Ones (4.36-11.5oz.)entrees are on sale at Meijer for $1.80 each. Buy 10 and get $4 in instant savings, knocking this to $14 for ten, or $1.40 each. There are some $3-off-10 coupons out there for these (8/7/11 SS, printable) but Jewel-Osco‘s weekly flyer has a $5-off-10 manufacturer coupon in it. With this one, you’ll pay $9 for 10 meals, or .90 each!
50oz. liquid Tide detergent is on sale for $5.99. Use the $2 coupon from the 1/1 PG or the 1/1 Tribune and pay $3.99.
Campbell’s Canned Spaghetti or Spaghetti-Os (15oz.) are on sale for .60 each. Buy three and use the .40-off-3 coupon from the 12/4/11 SS. You’ll pay $1.40 for three, or about .47 each. With TWO manufacturer coupons, buy 6 cans and stack with the $1-off-6 ecoupon on Mperks. Now you’ll pay $1.80 for SIX, or .30 per can!

Dannon Danimals, Crush ups or Coolision yogurt (4-8ct.) are on sale for $1.89. Meijer has a Catalina deal going on these – buy $10 worth and get a $3 Catalina. Meijer Mealbox has $1-off-2 store coupons too. So, let’s put the deal together…
Buy six Dannon yogurts ($11.34.) Use three $1-off-2 Mealbox coupons (now $8.34.) Pay $8.34 and get a $3 Catalina – that’s $5.34 for six, or .89 each! Great price.

Are you a Meijer Mperks member? Mperks is a different set of electronic Meijer coupons. They’re attached to your cellphone number, but aside from one text message to activate your account, you do not need to use text messaging to continually use them. Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, January 17th.
General Mills Cereals – Cheerios, Trix, Wheaties, Cocoa Puffs or Golden Grahams (8.9-12oz.) are on sale for $1.77 per box. Use the $1-off-2 coupon from 12/11/11 SS or a printable (another printable here!) and pay $2.54 for two, or $1.27 per box! There’s also a $1-off-3 coupon in the 1/8 GM for more cheap cereal.
And, if you printed the $1.75-off-2 coupon I posted earlier this week (it has since hit its print limit) you’ll pay $1.79 for two, or about .90 each!
Trop50 orange juice (59oz.) is on sale for $1.88. Use this $1 off Facebook printable and pay $1.88!
Ken’s Salad Dressing (16oz.) is on sale for $1.67. Use the $1 coupon from 1/8 SS2 and pay .67!
Pedialyte (1 liter, 4ct. singles or 16ct. pops) is on sale for $5. Use the $1.50 coupon from 10/2/11 SS and pay $3.50! Good price for this. There’s also a $1.75-off-2 printable that will net you two for $8.25, or about $4.13 each.
Here’s a deal on Ocean Spray Grapefruit Juice! It’s on sale for $2.50 per 64oz. bottle, not necessarily a deal… but, when you buy two bottles, you’ll also get a free 5lb. bag of Ocean Spray Red Grapefruit ($2.99 value.) Souns like a deal to me :)

Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
There’s not a whole lot new or crazy in this week’s Target ad, but it may be worth stopping in for the toy clearance! Most stores went 50-70% off overstock Christmas toys last week, and I was able to pick up lots of things for my little guys for next year. I was most excited about the Moon Dough Magic Zoo for my youngest, who loves Moon Dough (it’s usually over $20 – paid about $5) and the Hot Wheels Micro Camera Racer. It is a Hot Wheels car with a videocamera built in, and your child can record movies of it going on its track (or through your house!) then play them back on the computer, or on the included screen. It is truly cool, but so not worth the $60 it was before Christmastime. I paid $17 and change, and I was happy.
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit card, you receive another 5% off.

Estroven PM (24ct.) supplements are also on sale for $10. Buy this and get $10 back in RRs, making it FREE too! There were $3 printables out about a week ago on Coupons.com. If you printed, use them here to make this a moneymaker.
South Beach Diet snack or meal bars (5ct.) are on sale for $5.99. Buy them and get $5.99 back in RRs, making these FREE as well!
ThermaCare Pain Relief Heat Wraps (single packs for neck, wrist & shoulder, or menstrual) are on sale for $2.49. Buy one and get $2.49 back in RRs, making this (you guessed it) FREE too!
Here’s a deal on Aleve (40-50ct.) It’s on sale for $3.79. It’s also part of a “Spend $15, get $5 in RRs” deal. Buying four will put you at $15.16 and generate the Register Rewards. There are $2 Aleve coupons in the 1/1 SS1, 12/4/11 RP, and the 10/23/11 RP. The 12/4/11 RP also has a $5-off-2.
With two $5-off-2 coupons, pay $5.16 and get $5 back in RRs! That’s .16 for four, or .04 each!
With four $2 coupons, pay $7.16 and get $5 back in RRs. That’s $2.16 for four, or .54 each. Still a deal.
Bic Multi-Purpose Lighters (the long skinny kind that you light candles or the grill with) are on sale for $3. Use the $2 coupon in the January All You and pay $1!
Glade Decor Scents air freshener holders or refills are on sale for $2.99. Buy one and get $1.25 back in Register Rewards. Use the .75 coupon from the 1/15 SS. You’ll pay $2.24 and get $1.25 back, making this .99!

Speed Stick Deodorant (2.3-3.25oz.) is on sale 2-for-$5. Buy two and get $2 back in Register Rewards! Use the $1-off-2 coupon from 1/15 SS. Pay $4 for two and get $2 back in RRs – that’s $2 for two, or $1 each.
There’s a “Spend $20, Get $6 in RRs” deal running on various cold and cleaning products this week. I think your best bets here are with the Lysol items. Two-packs of one disinfectant spray and one 35ct. Lysol wipes are $4, and two-packs of two 35ct. Lysol wipes are $3.
The 1/1 SS2 has coupons for both $1 off disinfectant and $1-off-2 wipes. (You will not be able to count BOTH packs of wipes as two separate units and use a $1-off-2 coupon on it though.) You’re better off buying the disinfectant “with free wipes” attached and using that $1 coupon.
Buy 5 disinfectant “with free wipes” ($20.) Use five $1 disinfectant coupons.
Pay $15 and get $6 back. That’s $9 for 10 Lysols – 5 sprays and 5 cans of wipes, which works out to .90 each.
If you don’t have that many Lysol coupons, you could do a mix of Lysol and Viva. Buy two packages of 6ct. Viva paper towels ($12) and two Lysol disinfectant “with free wipes” packs (now $20.) Use two $1 disinfectant coupons and two $1 Viva coupons from the 1/15 SS. Pay $16 and get $6 back in RRs. That’s $10 for 12 rolls of paper towels and 4 Lysols – not too shabby.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
Deerfield Farms or Nice! Cheese (8oz. shredded or brick, or 12oz. singles) are 2-for-$4, limit 4.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Did you see the nice new $5 Purina One Beyond dog food coupon in the 1/15 SS? 3.5lb. bags sell for about $6.49 at Walmart (that’s what they were priced at in my area, anyway.) Use the coupon and pay $1.49!
If your $3-off-3 Nabisco coupons from the 1/8 SS2 are burning a hole in your pocket, check out the tiny, cute boxes of Wheat Thins and Ritz that I spotted at Walmart! Buy 3 and they’re FREE with coupon! One of my readers suggested buying the single-serve cups of Teddy Grahams with these coupons too, which are also a buck. My store didn’t carry those, but they had these.
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I sure would like to get the baby food deal for our church food drive but have had nothing but bad experiences with catalina deals at the Meijer in Orland Park. Does anyone know if the baby food catalina is working at the Orland Park store? I have returned items numerous times there when cats have not worked.

Where are you seeing the Pom Wonderful on sale in the Dominick’s ad? I looked in the ad and all over the website, and can’t find it. Since there is a good chance that it will be gone at the store, I was hoping to try and price match somewhere.
Thanks : )

has a 30% off all frozen breakfast items. I grouped 4 boxes of Toaster Strudel on sale and used coupons, French Toast Sticks on sale and Eggo Waffles on sale. The coupon did not work at the register but customer service did the adjustment and gave me $6 and change back.

Target also has a check card so if you don’t like credit cards you can open this card that is attached to your checking account and is used just like any other debit card (for Target only of course) and still get the 5%. Also if you get perscriptions filled at Target, use these cards to pay for them and for every 5 perscriptions you get filled you will get another 5% off card in the mail. You have to get 5 on the credit card or check card, you can’t mix it up and the 5% card is only good that one card you used.

If you went to Walgreens last week to do the Tylenol Precise deal with the register reward, be sure to check your catalinas that printed out.
In addition to the $3 RR that was supposed to print out, I got a $2 manufacturer’s coupon towards any Thermacare 2 pack or larger.Bring that to Walgreens this week, as Jill listed those as having their own RR deal this week. This will be a $2 money maker if you have the coupon. : )jilldianne says

Just wondering if the spend 30 get 10 is a national one? I am in California and this one was not in our sale ad for the past week. The kleenex one was not either. Anyone know where I can find out if it is?

The Nabisco Q is not in the Chicago Tribune 1/8 S2. I’m thinking the S2 is the one with Ken’s Dressing on the cover. I did find it in the 1/8 S1, however. It has the healthyessentials on the cover with Listerine, band-aids, Aveeno, etc.

The Jewel in McHenry had the green pack (Mandarin Strawberry and Spearmint) on clearance for .74 :o) Not all the registers had this price posted, but once one rang up for that price, I grabbed a few more. Our $1 coupons make this a deal I couldn’t pass up!

I went to the Dominicks site to find the deal match for $1.99 cereal but it is not listed. Is it gone or am I missing something?

The Coupons are on the 1 liter bottles…. I did use mine(the lemonade ones) though at the Antioch Jewel they had the Cherry Lemonade on clearance for 50 cents. The Gingerale and Seltzer were 79 cents for the 1 liter

My catalina for the all detergent and some finish did not print tonight in Crown Point, IN. I guess it says pretty plainly in my ad that the $30 is AFTER coupons. Ended up not being a very good deal on the detergent and an OK one on the Finish. I only had 8 coupons so could not (would not) buy more detergent @ $3.50… went to CS and the woman was perfectly pleasant as she explained and added and re-added things, but no Cat…. :(

I just left Walgreens on Cass in Westmont planning on using my Brita $4 coupon, Walgreens coupon and the $10 rebate to get it for .99. However, they had a different Brita pitcher, the Slim model, on sale for 10.99. Add that to the $4 off coupon and it comes to 6.99. After already being nervous about sending in for the $10 rebate, I bought it, came home, and looked at the Walgreens website. They have the same one marked for $7.89, ready for in store pick-up. With the $4 coupon, it would come to 3.89 plus the $10 rebate making this a 6.11 money maker (not including tax).
Is this correct? Should I go back to my store and get a price adjustment? The rebate doesn’t state anything about how much needs to be spent, so it should still work, right?

Target, Wal-Mart, and Dominicks (I didn’t actually go to Dominicks but I heard they are there) have the go packs for the Nabisco products. They are in the cash register isles. I actually had a manager follow me around because she was curious to see what I was saving on and told me it says Nabisco products and doesn’t say it excludes any kind so she told me to pick up things other than teddy grahams too. Ended up getting 24 cups for free. And these have a lot in them too I was surprised!

at the Downers Grove Ogden Ave Dominicks. They’re all Winnie-the-Pooh characters, which are fine anytime, but I’m saving these for Easter baskets. My college freshman LOVES Pez. They’re up in front on the discount/clearance rack near the check out lanes. I also picked up some single kids CLIF bars for $.25, and they still had a couple of boxes of them left.

My J4U had the free 4-pack of Activia this week. I used the $1 Activia coupon from the 1/15 SS and my receipt said I paid -$1.00 for the Activia. Yeah! I’m not sure what Dominicks policy on overage is, but this was part of my regular large transaction, and the cashier didn’t blink an eye at the coupon.
The last 2 weeks they’ve been out of the Yoplait Light Granola packs that I also have for free on my J4U. There’s a $.75 coupon from the 1/8 GM for a pack of these.

I went to my Jewel yesterday looking to buy a few things and noticed that Yoplait cups had a Catalina if you bought 20 you’d get $2.00 on future purchase. I had coupons to buy the 20 cups. But I also noticed that some were priced at .34 (while supplies last) as they were being discontinued. Flavors were: Lemon, Strawberry-Mango that I saw, but not sure if there were more flavors. I bought all Strawberry-Mango. I bought 24, used 4 coupons ($.40 off 6 cups), and with the $2.00 catalina I got them for .20 each.

I just went to the Dominicks in Crystal Lake and was told that they could not take my online coupon due to it wouldn’t scan and they can’t enter it manually. The service desk confirmed this with a memo she was given. It was for the Honey Bunches of Oats online coupon. Coupon was printed clear enough to see numbers and bars. I also asked how does a customer know when its going to scan or not? No positive answer.

I didn’t see this posted, and it’s the last day: check your J4U. Mine had Quaker Oats Instant Oatmeal for $2.49, and this works with the BOGO (no limits!).
I think $1.25 is a great price for the 10 pack boxes of instant oatmeal, which don’t seem to go on sale for a good price very often. This is especially nice if you like some of the harder to find flavors like Raisin, specific fruit & cream varieties, etc., which you can’t usually find in store brands/generics.

There’s a rebate on the Land O Lakes where you can get a coupon for a free spread with olive oil when you purchase a spread. The rebate form is a bit vague and shows packaging that I believe is outdated. I bought one of the olive oil, one cinnamon, and one light so I’m hoping one of those will work.
Rebate form is available here:

I just went to Meijer and they said that I reached my limit on the Beechnut Baby Food, Campbells Condensed Soup, and Spaghetti-Os. I could not get the full MPerks value AND the coupon totals. The register only gave me partial coupon amounts. Where can you find out what the ‘limit’ amount is for a specific item? I lost out on about $2 total. Nothing to cry about but I’d like to know for the future. I will think twice about purchasing items with both coupons and MPerks. Thanks in advance!
LEEANNEJM says
Disregard the Campbells condensed soup on my previous comment, I just realized the MPerks expired yesterday. So I did not get full coupon value on the baby food & Spaghetti-Os only. I got $1.38 of the $2 for the baby food; I got .27 out of the Spaghetti-Os coupon.

was this in the weekly ad? Was it good thru today? No signs up for this. They ring up as .89

I was told at the Oswego Meijers that the MPerks was changed recently. The cashier said they had a training and signed paperwork stating MPerks are coupons and the customer can only receive a combined total amount of the highest coupon (MPerks or manufacturer coupon).
