Super-Couponers, welcome to your first Deals of the Week of 2011!
This Sunday’s January 2 paper contained FIVE inserts – 2 SmartSource (SS1 and SS2,) 2 RedPlum (RP1 and RP2) and 1 General Mills (GM.) Each year, the manufacturers shower us with inserts at the New Year, which of course, we always appreciate! Also, if you’re in an area that receives the Spanish SmartSource insert, grab that one too as the coupons inside are typically higher-value (there’s a $1 Kleenex coupon in the 1/2 SS Espanol that lines up to something good this week…) My papers also contained a separate sheet with a $1-off-2 coupon for Naked Juice, plus a $2 Zicam coupon in Parade.
This was such a GREAT weekend for picking up extra papers too, if you were so inclined — each paper you bought will net you a FREE package of dishwasher detergent and a FREE roll of toilet paper… plus all the other coupons that will be lining up to great deals for weeks and months to come.

Starting at Jewel (View weekly ad | View weekly ad for Spanish Jewel locations)…
Here’s a little deal on Chef’s Requested bacon-wrapped beef filets. Two-packs of filets are on sale for $7.99, Buy One Get One Free (four steaks for $7.99.) To bring the price down on each, we’re going to use one coupon on EACH package (since we’re buying TWO!)
Here’s where the fun begins. Register at Chef’s Requested’s website to print coupons for the filets. You’ll either receive a link to print a $1 coupon OR a $3 coupon! There’s another $1 printable coupon here (can print 2 from this second link.)
With one $3 coupon and one $1 coupon, you’ll pay $3.99 for four steaks – netting you bacon-wrapped filets for $1 each! With two $1 coupons, pay $5.99 for four – about $1.50 per steak. Yum!
Like Marzetti Salad Dressings? They’re on sale for $3.99, B1G1F. Buy two and use the $1 coupon from 11/14 SS. Pay $2.99 for 2, or $1.50 each. With two $1 coupons, pay $1.99 for two, or about $1 each.
Need a laundry detergent deal? 75oz. Xtra Laundry Detergent is on sale for $1.99. Use the .50 coupon from 12/12 SS and pay $1.49 for a 48-load bottle! That’s about .03 per load!

Honestly, I’m not terribly excited about this sale – I like a larger spread (like a $25/$10) for some good Catalina action! But if you’re jumping into this deal, the best items to work in are Pantene and Old Spice, both of which have Buy One Get One Free coupons to throw into the mix.
For example…
An Old-Spice / Pantene Scenario
Buy 2 Old Spice deodorants ($1.99 each)
Buy 6 Pantene ($2.99 each)
Pre-coupon total: $21.92
Use 1 B1G1F Old Spice coupon and 3 B1G1F Pantene coupons.
Pay $10.96 and get a $5 Catalina – $5.96 for all is about .75 per item.
_____________________________
If you’re buying Pampers, they’re just a penny away from $20.
Throw in something cheap (cans of Pringles are $1.50, or use a Secret deodorant [$1.99, minus .50 Secret coupon)
Grab a pack of ThickCare wipes too if you have the “Buy diapers, get free wipes” coupon.
If you used the $1.50 Pampers coupon, pay $19.98 and get a $5 Catalina. That’s $14.98 for the Pampers, plus wipes, plus Pringles OR Secret.
$25 Jewel-Osco Gift Card rebate: $25 worth of FREE Kimberly-Clark paper products! – AVAILABLE FOR ALL STORES!

The wording on this one is a little confusing regarding using coupons on the products. The terms state “Total net price (excluding taxes, coupons or any other discounts) of purchased Kimberly-Clark products must be $25.00 or more.” However, “net price” usually means AFTER all discounts (“gross” would be before any discounts.)
To be on the safe side, I would go over $25 AFTER coupons. With the gift card, you’re still getting the $25 back regardless, but if you use coupons, you’re bringing more products home for your $25, if that makes sense. People looking for diaper deals will love this — free or crazily cheap diapers! (You could buy that $29.99 diaper box too with the $2 peelie, pay $27.99 and get $25 back — that’s a lot of diapers for $2.99.)
Or, stock up on what you need. $25 worth of toilet paper or paper towels may seem like a lot to bring home at once, but if it’s FREE? Go for it!
Note too that this rebate is valid through 1/15/11 while supplies last. If you don’t jump on this one right away, there is a chance you may not receive the card, as we don’t know how many gift cards are actually allocated to this promotion.
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there (and they answer promptly!) They’ve also got the free cookware promo under way, so save your stickers from qualifying receipts to earn free pots and pans.
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too. I’d recommend getting on their list if you shop there.

(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick’s deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons are being rolled into the “Just For U” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also now load these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bet this week?
In the Jan. 2-8 flyer – “4 Day Breakfast Sale” on cover:
- Kleenex facial tissue (75-200ct.) are .99 each, limit 2, with Super Coupon.
- Smithfield Bacon is $2.99 for a 12-16oz. package, limit 4, with Super Coupon. If you have the Smithfield Pork coupon book (home mailer – Paula Deen is on the cover) use the coupon for .75 off Smithfield Bacon and pay $2.24.
- Morningstar Farms frozen products are on sale for $2.99 each, limit 4, with Super Coupon. If you have the new $10 Morningstar coupon books from Jewel, use the $1, $2-off-2, or $3-off-3 coupons from the new Morningstar $10 coupon book (I’ve spotted them at Jewel, but they may be at Doms too) and pay $1.99 each.
- Smuckers jellies/jams are on sale for $1.99, limit 4, with Super Coupon.
Use this $1 printable and pay .99!(Coupon has hit its print limit.)
Reader MomOf4 spotted a super deal on Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks! They’re on sale for .99 a box, and they’re also involved in a Catalina deal — buy 5 boxes and receive a Catalina for $3.00. And, wouldn’t you know it… the 1/2 GM insert has .50-off-2 coupons for the fruit snacks! There’s a printable here too, plus many, many expireds in past GM inserts.
So… buy 5. Use two .50-off-2 coupons. Pay $3.95 and get a $3 Catalina – 5 boxes for .95 is .19 a box!
Dannon Activia yogurt is on sale for $1.88 per 4-pack. Use any of many $1 coupons to drop this to .88 for the package: 9/12 SS2 (exp,) 8/29 SS (exp,) 8/8 SS (exp,) 7/18 SS (exp,) 6/6 SS (exp.)
Dominick’s is running a “Big Sizes, Big Savings” sale this week on cleaning and paper products. Buy 2 or more large packages and they’re $9.99 each (through 1/11.) If you need toilet paper, the Charmin’s a decent buy this week. Dominicks.com has a $3 ecoupon on Just For U to load to your card that will make one of the packages $6.99. You can use www.coupontom.com to do matchups on the other products’ coupons. Honestly though, other than the Charmin, there’s not a lot “deal-wise” to write about here.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
Loaves of Nancy Martin white or wheat bread are .89 each.
Gallons of Dairy Glen milk are $1.99 each, limit 2. Through 1/5 ONLY.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Single pouches of Purina One dog and cat food are on sale for $1.99. Use the $2 coupons from 12/5 SS, 10/17 SS (exp,) 8/15 SS (exp,) and 6/27 SS (exp) and it’s FREE! If it’s still available, Dominick’s also has had a $2 ecoupon to load at Dominick’s Just For U.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the new “Just For U” electronic discounts that you can load to your Dominick’s Fresh Values card, you may want to. For registering your card, you’ll receive an ecoupon for a FREE 12-ct. Lucerne large eggs! You’ll also activate a set of electronic discounts that are tied to your card for the next 90 days. Each person’s discounts are different, and they’re based on past purchases made with your Fresh Values card at Dominick’s. Learn more here.
Coupon booklets currently found at Dominick’s
Note that this is a listing of what you MAY find. Coupon books tend to move very quickly once they become available! Look on displays throughout the store to find them. Some Dominick’s are now keeping these coupon books behind the Customer Service counter, so you may want to ask at your store.
$5 coupon book with Guy Fieri on cover – (has coupons for Oscar Mayer/Kraft products)
Winter Savings Coupon Booklet – small yellow square book released quarterly.
Dominick’s meat deals:
- Fresh Perdue whole chickens are .79/lb.
- Ranchers Reserve boneless round steak is $1.69/lb.
Want FREE marinade? Many Dominick’s will marinate your fresh meat free at the meat counter, so depending on what you’re buying, you may want to take advantage of that.
Dominick’s produce deals:
- 4lb. bags of O Organics navel oranges are $3.99 – about $1/lb.
- 3lb. bags of O Organics russet potatoes are $3.99 – about $1.25/lb.
- 3lb. bags of O Organics apples (Braeburn, Fuji, Granny Smith, Gala or Red Delicious) are $3.99 – about $1.25/lb.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area: (View weekly ad)…
Meijer’s ad is VERY tiny this week, so we’re extremely light on deals. If you need printer ink, they’re running a “Spend $29 or more on HP Ink, get $10 Meijer gift card” promo this week. If you do this deal, remember to GET the gift card at the register and hand it to the cashier as part of your transaction — this is specified in the ad as well.
Are you a Meijer Mperks member yet? Mperks is a different set of electronic Meijer coupons. They’re attached to your cellphone number, but aside from one text message to activate your account, you do not need to use text messaging to continually use them. Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.
Meijer seafood deals:
- 16oz. packages of Meijer Tilapia fillets (frozen) are $3.50 each.
Meijer produce deals:
- 5lb. boxes of Clementines are $3.99 – about .75/lb.
- 2lb. bags of baby-cut carrots are $2.50 – about $1.25/lb.
- Large sweet cherries are $2.99/lb.
- Extra-large avocados are $1 each
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the oter Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
Did you buy lots and lots of newspapers yesterday? The first paper of the new year is traditionally FULL of coupons, and this week’s 5-insert paper was no exception. Just like last year too, each paper you got yesterday is going to net you a FREE box of Finish/Electrasol dishwasher detergent!
In the 1/2 SS2, there’s a coupon for $2.25 off 20ct. Finish Quantum, Powerball or Gelpacs. And guess what’s on sale this week at Wags… 20ct. Finish Powerball and Gelpacs! They’re on sale for $3.49 a box. With coupon, pay $1.24… and get $1.50 back in Register Rewards! FREE Finish AND a .26 moneymaker!
These are going to FLY, FLY, FLY this week, as many seasoned couponers know to buy multiple papers at the New Year and stock up on dishwasher detergent. If you find empty shelves, ask your store when they’ll get more in. Rainchecks won’t be of much use as Walgreens won’t issue the RR on a raincheck.
If all else fails, hold onto those coupons… CVS is supposed to have a deal on Electrosol/Finish next week :)
I’m often asked how long I keep my back inserts. The answer? Until EVERYTHING inside expires. (And at that point, I move the insert to a different file crate, since Dominick’s accepts them for another year expired.) If you’re ever looking for an easy way to figure out what’s current and what’s not, check out this link – every insert shown in the green box on the left has current, unexpired coupons inside.
Why am I bringing this up in the Walgreens deals? Because this week, a coupon from the 1/24/10 RP comes into play! This week at Walgreens, Children’s Oscillococcinum Homeopathic Flu Medicine is on sale for $8.99. Buy it and get $8.99 back in Register Rewards, making this FREE! But with the $2 coupon from 1/24/10 RP, pay $6.99 and get $8.99 back … a $2 moneymaker!
If you don’t have inserts back that far… luckily, there’s a $2 printable too!
Some readers have reported getting a Catalina for FREE Breathe Right nose strips when they’re buying the Oscillococcinum, so keep an eye out if one prints for you.
Want another freebie? Omega Factor-3 supplements are on sale for $10. Buy one and get $10 back in RRs… FREE!
And another? Salonpas pain patches are on sale for $5.99. Buy one and get $5.99 back in RRs… FREE too!
4-packs of Celsius Green Tea (in cans) are $3.99. Buy a 4-pack and get $3 back in RRs, making this .99, or about a quarter a can.
Nivea for Men shaving gel and aftershave are on sale for $3.99. Buy it and get $3 back in RRs!
Coffee-Mate 16oz. liquid creamers are on sale for $2.49, B1G1F. Use two $1 printables and pay .49 for TWO, or about .25 each!
Fiber Choice supplements (90ct.) are on sale for $10.99. Buy one and get $3 back in RRs. Use the $4 coupon from 1/2 RP2 or a printable, pay $6.99 and get $3 back — ultimately, $3.99 for the bottle.

If you received or bought multiple papers this week (1/2) you can enjoy a super deal on the Wisk detergent! Buying 5 bottles of Wisk will put you at $25. Use 5 $2 coupons. Pay $15 and get $10 back — that’s $5 for 5 bottles of Wisk!
Another way to do the deal? If you got four January 2 papers instead, you can do the deal this way. Buy 4 bottles of Wisk and two Planters Nutrition ($27.) Use four $2 Wisk coupons and two $1 Planters coupons. Pay $17 and get $10 back! Still a great deal…
If you received the SmartSource en Espanol insert this past weekend, inside is a coupon for $1 off Kleenex. 78-110ct. Kleenex is on sale for .88 a box, limit 6. Enjoy that FREE Kleenex!
CVS also has a “Spend $10, Get $5 in ECBs” sale running on Listerine, Rembrandt and Reach.
If you have two $2 Listerine coupons from the 9/19/10 RP or two printables, buy two Listerines ($10) – use two $2 coupons. Pay $6 and get $5 back — two Listerines for $1, or .50 each! There’s also a $1 Listerine coupon in the 10/10 RP. With this as your second coupon, you’ll ultimately pay $1.50 for both, or .75 each.
This one’s also limit 2, so if you’re a multiple-inserts person, you can stock up.
Need more detergent? 28-load Xtra Laundry Detergent is on sale for $1.99. Use the .50 coupon from 12/12 SS and pay $1.49 — works out to about .05 per load.
And, I’ll wrap this up with one last Extra Care Bucks deal! CVS has another deal going on Revlon cosmetics and beauty tools. Buy ANY two Revlon and get $7 back in ECBs. The easiest thing to do here is to buy the least expensive items you can find — several varieties of nail files and clippers are priced at $2.99. Buy two, pay $5.98 and get $7 back! Enjoy!
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! And, CVS is now advertising a Thursday preview of the coming Sunday’s ad at www.cvs.com/weeklyad, so check in on Thursday…

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Check avenu for pampers wipes, mine says 1.25 off 70 ct or larger and the household limit is 6! If you buy 3 wipes and 3 pringles you do this
5.99 x 3=17.97
1.99 x 3=5.97
Total before coupons=23.94
mine has 1.25 off wipes so minus 3.75
mine has .40 off pringles=total =19.79
and you can use mq coupons on that too. So use another 1 dollar off fat free pringles from 12/26 and any possible wipes coupons like the peelies on the tubs that I have for 1 dollar off of each and boy, this could be a nice deal!
For me, it would cost me 15.79 and get 5 dollars back so like 1.80 for each. Also, consider just throwing the wipes in to get you to the 20 dollar mark. Wipes can be used for dirty hands, mouth, nose etc. LOL

The fruit snack catalina is only $3.00 this go around, not $3.50. Still a good price!

Loreal hair color is on sale for 2/12 with their coupon. There is a $2 coupon in the Jan 02 R2. After purchasing a $5 RR came up too! If you have 2 coupons from R2 it would be 2 boxes for $8 minus the $5 register reward = $3 for 2 boxes of hair color.

I just went to CVS and saw that many of the cosmetics were marked down 50% or 75% off. I bought one 75% off mascara for $2.75 and some emery boards for $3 but no EB came out. I was told that the items marked down are not eligible for the EB offer.

Dominicks in Algonquin is saying that Dominicks is no longer excepting expired coupons. Anyone else been told this?

In the previous October posts, it was stated that you could calculate the $20 by using the regular price not the sale price. The examples I see here are all calculated on the sale price printed on the flyer. Has this changed? Do we need to calculated on the sale price now?

Had (3) $2 coupons off Advil 20-24 ct. On sale for $3 (Advil PM not included in this sale). Spend $10 and receive $3 RR. Bought (4) using cents off and my FREE coupon. Total came to $12 less $9 in coupons and got $3 RR. All end up being FREE after RR receipt. I knew I was saving that freebie for a reason!

I cannot find my copy of the insert with the “code” that was in Sunday’s Chicago Tribune for the .50 Sunday paper delivered. Can someone help me out by posting those 3 Special Deals and the website address and code? Thank you in advance!

The steaks were fantastic, thank you!
I don’t do the full super couponing experience usually with the multiple coupon inserts and such, but it was nice to walk out of Jewel with 2 steaks, 2 boxes of gingerbread graham crackers, 3 soyjoys, 2 cliff bars, and an AirWick i-Motion for $9 this week, when the coupon + clearance + sale savings added up to over $25.00. As I was going through the line, this guy yelled “Holy cow, that’s cheap! How’d you do that?” I just smiled and said check out JillCataldo.com.
:-D
Your site is on my list to check weekly now!

CVS had Palmolive dishsoap on sale for $.88 a bottle… and I had a stash of coupons for $2.00 off 2. A money maker or $.12 a bottle! I also had a few $.75 off coupons too. I don’t remember what week they were from, but I bought 5 bottles tonight for $.31.

Walgreens has an in-ad coupon for Reese’s/Kit Kat/Hershey’s – .49-cents each. 12/12 SS has a coupon for the same – B1G1 – full-sized candy for 25-cents each.

Jill both of these links said I had already printed the allowed number of coupons. I hadn’t printed either of them… does this mean they have reached their limit???
Thanks.
