“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Load these offers at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, January 31st.
If you haven’t heard already, the BIG BIG news is that Hilander, Logli and Schnucks are all TRIPLING coupons this week! Coupons with a face value of up to .55 will be TRIPLED (meaning, a .55 coupon will be worth $1.65!) Coupons .56 and up will be redeemed at face value. You can triple 20 coupons per day, per household.

Her Schnucks in DeKalb said it was fine.)

Or, for a crazy coupon deal, make this a moneymaker. Here’s a manufacturer coupon for Buy 2, Get 1 Free. CVS’s website has a store coupon for $2 off 3 cards. Yes, you can stack these all together, even though it will probably be confusing if you’re new at this! So… go this way:
The Buy 2 Get 1 Free comes first. If you buy three .99 cards, the coupon will take the price of one off, leaving you at $1.98. Then, the CVS store coupon is scanned, taking $2 off (it will likely adjust down to $1.98.)
Pay nothing but tax and get $3 back in ECBs… nice moneymaker!
Tom’s Of Maine deodorant, mouthwash, or toothpaste are all on sale for $3.99 each. Buy one and get $3 back in ECBs, making this .99! This offer is limit 2, and it’s a good buy for Tom’s if you like it, as deals on it don’t come around too often.

Ragu pasta sauce (15-24oz.) – 3-for-$5 ($1.66 each)
– $1 off 2 – 1/29 RP2
DEAL IDEA: Buy 6 jars of Ragu ($10.) Use three $1-off-2 coupons (now $7.) Pay $7 and get $3 back. $4 for 6 jars is about .67 each!
CVS is running another “Spend $30, Get $10 in ECBs” deal. This one has a lot of healthcare items, as well as baby products too. I’d like to see BETTER prices on some of the products here, but here are your best bets:
Luvs jumbo pack diapers are on sale for $6.99. Buy four packages of Luvs ($27.96) and one $3 tub of Pampers baby wipes (now $30.96.) Use the .50 Pampers wipes coupons from 1/29 PG. Pay $30.46 and get $10 back in ECBs. That drops you to $20.46 for four jumbo packs, or about $5.12 per jumbo pack… plus a “free” tub of wipes!
Metamucil powder 114 doses, 44ct. Fiber Singles, 120-160ct. capsules or 11.7oz. Clear and Natural are on sale for $12.49. Buy two ($24.98) and add a package of Always Infinity as a filler to get to $30 (now $31.97.) Use two $1 Metamucil coupons from 1/29 PG or 1/1 PG, and use one $2 Always coupon from 1/1 PG. After all coupons, pay $27.97 and get $10 back in ECBs. That’s $17.97 for two Metamucil, or about $8.99 each… plus “free” Always.
Or, do an all Always deal. Buy four packages at $6.99 each ($27.60) and add a package of Pampers baby wipes as a filler (now $30.60.) Use four $2 Always coupons from 1/1 PG and one .50 Pampers wipes coupon from 1/29 PG. After all coupons, pay $19.10 and get $10 back in ECBs! That’s $9.10 for four Always, or about $2.28 each… plus “free” wipes.
Eucerin and Aquaphor products are part of a “Spend $20, get $10” deal. This is a good opportunity to get some of these products cheaper if you like them, as they aren’t often part of deals. There’s a $1 Eucerin coupon in the 1/29 RP1, or use printables.
Easy deal: The Eucerin hand cream was $5.49 at my store. Buy four ($21.96.) Use four $1 coupons (now $17.96.) Pay $17.96 and get $10 back. That’s $7.96 for four, or $1.99 each.
“No Coupon Needed” deals:
All Salma Hayek Nuance products are on a “Spend $20, get $10 in ECBs” deal this week.
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
DiGiorno large pizzas sell for around $5 at Walmart ($4.98 at mine.) Buy two and use the $2-off-2 coupon from 1/29 RP1. You’ll pay $7.96 for two, or $3.98 each! Great price for DiGiorno!
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Did you see the nice new $5 Purina One Beyond dog food coupon in the 1/15 SS? 3.5lb. bags sell for about $6.49 at Walmart (that’s what they were priced at in my area, anyway.) Use the coupon and pay $1.49!
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

The cashier at CVS would not take both the Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon and the $2 off when you buy 3 cards coupon. He claimed that if I used the B2G1F then I wasn’t buying the 3 cards required for the $2 off coupon. And if the $2 off coupon was used first, then the balance was less than the value of 1 card so I couldn’t use the B2G1F coupon. I didn’t want to argue so I only used the B2G1F. Was he correct?

I went to Jewel this morning and purchased 2 Kikkoman soy sauces that were on sale for $2.19 and used the two $1 printables. Unfortunately, the catalina did NOT print on these and I am not sure why. I used 1 double store coupon which brought the total for these at $1.38 or $.69 a bottle, so not too bad I guess since we needed these.

I have a question about the COlgate-Palmolive rebate you mentioned in your Walgreens rebate. The rebate form says to include the receipt with prices circled and UPC information form the packages. Are they asking you to include the acutal UPCs? I’m not sure how I’m going to get those off the body wash bottles.

I had seen a comment that Ball Park hotdogs were 2/$4 at Jewel – I checked the paper and did not see it, but figured that I missed it or that maybe it was one of those unadvertised deals. I decided since I’d be in Jewel anyway, I’d check.
Got there and the price tag on the shelf was $3.49 a package – no sale signs at all.
Thank GOODNESS Jewel has a price scanner. Just for the heck of it, I took a package over and lo and behold — with preferred card they are 2/$1.49!!!!!!
Now, make this deal is even sweeter and head on over to Ball Park’s facebook page, like ’em and print yourself off a $1.00 of 2 packages and score 2 packs of Ball Park franks for .49!!

Buy 3 Advils at CVS @$4.49 each. Use $1.00/1 coupons from 1/29 RP, 12/11 RP. Buying 2 gets you $4 ECB. Total for 3 Advil is now $6.47. In the 1/29 RP there is a $10 mail-in rebate if you buy 3 Pfizer products. So, $3.50 (- a stamp) money maker. I was especially happy, since I am almost out of ibuprofen!

at CVS, as long as you can find 5 packs. They’re one sale for $3, but are part of the PepsiCo spend $15 get $5 ECB. $2 per pack for IZZE is about the best I’ve ever seen it. And they are SO yummy! When I went to check out, my cashier said everyone who worked there bought a whole bunch, too.
I also did a decent Lipton Tea deal – Buy 3 boxes of Lipton Green Tea & one Rague = $10.66. This triggers the $3 ECB. Plus, I used 3 lipton coupons: two $.75 from facebook, and a $.50 (not sure where it was from). Ended up with 3 Lipton 40 count boxes(these are the double size boxes) for $5.66 and a ‘free’ Ragu.
Brie says
Even without coupons you can get a pretty decent deal on Pepsi cans

I went to 2 different CVS stores today to do the Colgate offer. At the first store when I gave the B1G1 Speed Stick coupons, the first one came up with a value of 3.99, the deodorant is on sale for 1.99, so I told the clerk the coupon value was too high, and she shrugged, the next coupon rung at 2.79, and she apologized for not being able to give me 3.99. I went home to get more coupons, and went to a different CVS closer to my home, and the same thing happened. I asked both clerks about it, and they both told me that they honor what ever price is in the computer. I feel like I am stealing!

Did anyone have luck using the Vicks coupon on Puffs? I could not find them at Jewel so I decided to use them at Walmart and they refused to take them. They said they were a Puffs product and not a Vicks. I checked the Vicks website and it is listed as one of their products.

Yay for double coupons! At my jewel there were Gillette Deodorants on clearance for $2.49 each. With the $1 off coupon from the paper (I think it was the recent P&G insert) it doubled to $2, leaving me with $0.49 each (I got 2). But when I got to check out, a $1 off your next purchase catalina printed out thanks to P&G! So I ended up netting a $0.02 money maker on these :)

If you go to Kroger for the Tide deal, check the aisle to see if any are on clearance. My store had the 50 oz. Tide Sport on clearance for $4.79 a bottle (others are on sale for $5.99 a bottle). They were part of a larger end cap display and not marked as clearance there, but they were marked as such in the laundry aisle and they did ring up that way.

I’m so excited! I was able to get 3 bottles of Olay Body Wash (23.6oz size) and 3 Secret Deodorants for a total of $4.45 last night.
The Olay Body Washes were B2G1 free and they were $5.99 each. The 3 Secrets were on clearance at $2.49 each. So the total is $19.45 before coupons. I used 3 of the Olay $1 Q’s from 1/29 PG which then doubled to $2 each and then I used 3 of the $2 off Secret (WYB Olay) coupons from 1/29 PG. This leaves my total at $7.45 after Q’s…..but then I got a $3 CAT from P&G that cranked out! Essentially paying only $4.45!!! What a surprise that was. I will do this deal again tonight.

For those that bought the Grande Tortilla chips (on sale 2/$5, use the $1 off and a doubler to get 50 cent chips!!!) — be on the lookout for a booklet geared towards the super bowl. There were several coupons, plus a REBATE for $3.00 when you bought 3 bags of Grande chips. Worked perfectly as we had just enough Q’s to grab 3 bags — so paid a total of $1.50 and we’re going to get $3.00 back!!!!
I do have to say that I’ve been in several different Jewel stores the past few days and today was the first time I saw the booklet up in the front of the store (Woodstock), in the big chip display.

The Colgate-Palmolive Rebate is $5 when you spend $10.
If you are doing any of the Walgreens Buy 4 for $12 and using the $1/1 coupons your total is less than $10 after coupons.
Will they honor the rebate?
I will be submitting for the Irish Spring bar soap because using only the $.50/1 coupons made my total just over $10 so I know I’m covered.
Curious about the other though, does anyone know the answer?
FYI these were the large 6 bar pkg of bar soap so my transaction came out $10.84 w/$4RR now 6.84 after $5 Rebate will be $1.84 for 24 bars of soap or less than $.08/bar!

Received this last night after making qualifying purchases (this is also advertised on Walgreens website) you will receive a $5 beautiful reward Catalina receipt. Then you must go online (which I did and the site isn’t even up until Feb 6th) enter PIN number on the receipt then print your online gift card. This week the “Buy 4 for $12, get $4 in Register Rewards” qualify and ALSO noted in

Correct me if I’m wrong but sounds like you can get $10 off this deal with both rewards mailing/online.

Coupon Network just sent over a list of some printable coupons that are new today. Some of these will work well with the current doubles deal at Jewel, especially the new .75 and .80 General Mills cereal coupons:
$1.00 off when you buy any TWO BOXES select General Mills cereals
80¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Multi Grain Cheerios® Peanut Butter cereal
75¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Frosted Toast Crunch™ cereal
50¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Honey Nut Cheerios® cereal
75¢ off when you buy ONE BOX Dulce de Leche Cheerios® cereal
These were on the list too – I’m not sure what the regular prices of these are, but if you need them, they may be good when doubled:
75¢ off when you buy any TWO packages of Cottonelle Gentle Care™ Flushable Moist Wipes (36 ct. or larger)
75¢ off when you buy ONE package of Yoplait® Light yogurt with Granola

Is the UPC code the part with the lines on the bottle that they scan at the register? Am I supposed to get this off somehow? DO they just want the numbers that is written under the bar code? I am not sure what to do here? Please Help!

Not sure if this one is documented somewhere but there is a coupon from this week’s RP flier for $2 off 1 Dove Clinical Protection deodorant. Walgreen’s has them on sale for $6.49ea or 3 for $18.00. If you have 3 coupons you can buy 3 for $18.00, use 3 $2.00 coupons to bring the total down to $12.00 and then you get a $6.00 RR for future use making them $2.00ea. These normally run $8.99 at Walgreens and at least that if not more at every other store. The Tribune leaves multiple inserts in my condo lobby and I grabbed quite a lot so I was able to do the deal twice. One Walgreens however gave me a problem about using more than 1 coupon so I just went to another one. There is a Walgreens every few blocks in the city.
