Happy New Year, Super-Couponers! The lull of slow holiday grocery sales is passing, and we’re ready to jump into some great new deals filled with cheapies and freebies — which all coupon shoppers LOVE!
This week’s newspaper contained FIVE inserts: two Smartsource, two RedPlum, and one General Mills! It’s typical for the New Year’s paper to have an abundance of coupons, and many shoppers bought extra papers this week. In my Super-Couponing® classes, a frequent question new coupon shoppers ask is, “should I get more than one newspaper a week?” While it’s not necessary to get multiple papers every week, anytime there are this many inserts, it’s not a bad idea — for every dollar you spend on a paper, this week alone you could get:
- FREE dishwasher detergent
- FREE air sanitizer
- FREE light bulb
- FREE toilet paper
- FREE soap
… and of course, we’ve barely scratched the surface of ALL the other coupons, some of which have VERY long expiration dates. (Did you see the 3-page RedPlum spread of Reach/Listerine coupons that expire 1/31/11?) WOW! So yes, during a week such as this, it’s never a bad idea to get a few extra papers.
Now, are you ready to kick off another year of great savings?
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations.
It’s a good idea to save the grocery and drugstore flyers from both Wednesday and Sunday each week to have on hand & refer to too as you go through the deals! And, if you’re new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing® website for a list of coupon classes (most are FREE!) and easy instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on Illinois stores, the Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu, Safeway, or Kroger-owned store, you may find similar sales to our Jewel, Dominick’s, and Hilander deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
AND… my Super-Couponing® class is now available on DVD! Own the 72-minute class and watch it whenever you like! Click for a video preview & learn how to order!

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel, Ragu pasta sauce is cheap! It’s on sale for $1.50 a jar, and it’s also attached to a Catalina deal. You’ll get a $2 Catalina for every 3 jars you buy. Couple this with the $1-off-2 coupon from 11/15 RP. Buy 3, pay $3.50 and get $2 back. 3 Ragus for $1.50!
If you get multiple inserts, this one’s even better. Buy 6 jars. With three $1-off-2 coupons, pay $6 and get $4 back. 6 jars for $2… that’s just .33 a jar!
Here’s a great deal on Dannon yogurt spotted by our forum reader Otherbeach… Dannon Light and Fit is on sale for .40 a cup. Many readers are reporting Dannon discounts on their electronic Avenu for .25 off per cup. Stack this with a .60-off-6 manufacturer coupons (11/1 SS, printable), buy six and pay .30 for SIX, or .05 each!
If that’s not enough cheap yogurt for you, Yoplait is also on sale. It’s .40 a cup when you buy 20 (yes, you MUST buy 20. Details of this promo are in the SS 1/3 with the TV ad on front.) Anyway – buy 20, and use a combo of the .40-off-6 coupon(s) from 1/3 GM, printable or another printable. With 3 coupons, pay $6.80 for 20, or .34 each.
Here’s where this deal gets better. If you did the Jewel Preferred Card Update promo last year, there’s a .30 off one cup of Yoplait STORE coupon to stack with this. For each coupon you have, that cup will cost a whopping .04!
Jimmy Dean fully-cooked sausages are a deal this week too. At $2 a package, use the $1 coupon from 11/1 RP and take these home for $1… look in the area of the refrigerated case for tearpads for more $1 coupons too.
Organic milk deal! Stonyfield Farms organic milk half-gallons are on sale for $3.29. Use this .50 printable and get it for $2.79…
While you’re checking your Avenu, note the $1.50 discount for Revlon eye and nail cosmetics. Some varieties of Revlon are on clearance, and you can stack the $2 coupon from 12/13 SS with this too…

Use $4 and $2 coupons for Fusion Razors
Use $1 off and $1.50 off coupons for HydraGel

Note too that for many people, Avenu has been taking $3.79 off for the HydraGel, REGARDLESS of the price of it — if this happens, you’ll get significant overage here.
Special thanks to Prea in our Forum for crunching the numbers on this one!
Now…
My black belt couponers know that these deals typically work differently at Jewel than at any other store.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you have never done a high-level Catalina deal at Jewel before, please read this short overview of the way the price structure works. In a nutshell, if you base your dollar-spent mark on the non-Preferred prices, you can save even more money and spend less out of pocket.
If this makes no sense or is the least bit confusing to you… do NOT do the deal in this way. These high-level Catalina deals can be very confusing, especially when you’re new at this. If you are new, use the PREFERRED price only, and you’ll get the Catalina every time. But if you’re a “black belt” couponer and want to maximize your savings… here are some of the best deals. Again, if you use these scenarios and do not get your Catalina, DO NOT go to Customer Service and ask them to make it right for you. You WILL NOT have purchased what the ad states that you must. Again, YOU are taking the risk on these deals. You must be willing to accept ANY outcome without complaining, even if it means not getting any Catalinas at all. Further compounding the confusion, Osco items typically work on the PREFERRED price, but this time around, some aren’t. Again, tread carefully here if you’re new… NEW for the week of 1/5: A “girly stuff” deal: Buy: Use 3 Buy One, Get One Free coupons from 12/27 PG for each. Pay $14.97 and get $10 back! That’s a LOT of “girly stuff” for under $5! Special thanks to Zeldajk in our forum who also notes that the Always Infinity are NOT included in the sale & won’t trigger the Catalina. (And, none of these products are featured in the current ad – but they are included in the deal. Since they’re unadvertised, this one’s considered a “black belt,” even though the math is indeed over $25 the old-fashioned way. AND, make sure the UPCs for each item match the spreadsheet…) A medicine and tissue deal: Buy 2 NyQuil/DayQuil combo packs ($5.99 each) Use 1 $1.50 off NyQuil coupon Pay $10.48 and get $10 back! Lots of medicine and a 3-pack of Puffs for .48! If you have multiple inserts, use a second $1.50 coupon for NyQuil – pay $8.98 and get $10. Moneymaker! NOTE that this deal falls into a grey area. The Puffs coupon does not specify whether it is to be used on one box or a multipack, but it also does not state a maximum value, so the store will be reimbursed for the value they enter. Further compounding things, the photo of the Puffs shown is gigantic — it doesn’t look like a standard Puffs box, but like a multipack. [And while we go by the text on the coupon… this one’s just all-around ambiguous.] Your cashier/store may vary as to how they handle this coupon.) A CHEAP detergent, shampoo, and toothpaste deal Buy: Use 3 coupons: Pay $14.64 and get back $10! CHEAP Tide, plus the other stuff too! Another thanks to Zeldajk in our forum for crunching these numbers and coming up with a good Tide scenario for the Tide lovers out there. If you have the Jewel Preferred Card Update book of coupons, stack the $1 Tide store coupon in here too and ultimately pay just $3.68 for all! The following scenarios are carried over from last week’s deals: A diapers/toothpaste deal Buy 2 jumbo pack Pampers ($9.99 each) Use $2 and $1.50 coupons for the Pampers Pay $19.21 and get $10 back! 2 jumbo packs of diapers AND 2 tubes of toothpaste for $9.21! That works out to under $5 a pack for the diapers… AND free toothpaste. If you get multiple inserts, use the higher-value coupons here too, of course… OR… A Big Pack diapers deal Buy 1 Pampers Big Pack ($18.99) Use $2 coupon for Pampers and .75 and .50 for Crests Pay $19.72 and get $10 back… Note too that if you’re buying the Big Packs, look for the boxes advertising a P&G coupon book inside the box. The book contains:
A Pantene deal… with a snack Buy 6 Pantene (your choice included in the deal) Pre-coupon total is $21.48. Use $1 off 2 coupon and $3 off 2 coupon. Pay $17.48 and get $10 back… that knocks the Pantene down to about $1 a bottle. Of course, with multiple inserts, this one gets sweeter – with a $1-off-2 and two $3-off-2, pay $14.48 and get $10 back. With THREE $3-off-2? Pay $12.48 and get $10 back! WOW! A Tide/Cascade deal… with a snack Buy one Tide Use $1 coupon for Tide, .50 for Cascade (and a second Cascade if you’ve got it.) Pay $19.77 and get $10 back – you’ve essentially brought the price of the Tide down by a dollar, AND gotten two Cascades and the Pringles for free! NOTE: If your Tide shows a regular price of $14.49, you will need ANOTHER filler to make this work. Toothpaste is a good one. A toilet paper/toothpaste deal Buy 3 Charmin Pre-coupon total is $24.46 Pay $21.21 and get $10 back! CHEAP TP! If your store’s regular price of the Charmin is high enough, you will not even need the Crest at all. CHECK to make sure. REMEMBER… ALWAYS, ALWAYS verify prices at your store at the price-checker BEFORE using the above scenarios. You are using these matchups at YOUR OWN RISK. And remember to roll those Catalinas! Use the $10 you got to help pay for your next round, and so on… |
Over at Dominick’s, the sales cycles continue to confuse with the interruption of the New Year’s holiday. Last week’s flyer deals end 1/6, while the new flyer ends 1/10.
Tropicana and Trop50 orange juice are on sale for $2.49 each when you buy 2 (and you MUST buy 2 to get the price.) Use $1-off-2 coupons from 5/3 RP and/or 9/13 RP to take two home for $3.98, or $1.99 each (through 1/10.)
Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are on sale for $1.49 a box when you buy in quantities of 3. Make this better with coupons…
Print 2 of each:
$1 off Cheerios
$1 off Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Now, head to Shortcuts and load up:
.55 off Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Now, head to Cellfire and load up:
.55 off Cheerios
Buy 1 box Cheerios, 1 box Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and 1 additional box of your choice of those two. After coupons and electronics, pay .37 for your 3 boxes, or about .12 a box! If you’ve taken my Super-Couponing class, you know that a quarter or less is the most I will ever spend on a box of cereal — and this deal certainly qualifies! (Through 1/10.)
While we’re on the topic, Dominick’s truly wins the award for most poorly-designed ad this week, as numerous people wrote and posted that from the ad, it looked like this cereal should have been .99 a box. More on that here, if you’re interested…
Dominick’s has a good deal going on Nature Valley Granola Bars too. Use the store coupon in the 1/3-1/10 Dominick’s flyer to make them $1.50 a box. Stack this with any manufacturer coupons:
– .40 off – 9/13 GM, printable, another printable (print 2 from each)
Then, head over to Cellfire and load up:
.40 off Nature Valley
With four .40 coupons plus the .40 electronic, pay $4 – $1 a box. But here’s the bonus: Nature Valley is also part of a Catalina deal! Buy 4 boxes and get a $2.50 Catalina. Now, pay $4 and get $2.50 back — you’ll pay $1.50 for 4 boxes, or about .38 a box! (Through 1/10.)
UPDATE: Several readers wrote to note that www.bettycrocker.com and www.pillsbury.com have higher-value printables to work into this – $1 off 2! With two $1-off-2 coupons, you’ll save an additional dime per box, and with the same deal, ultimately pay about .28 a box for these. Nice!
Here’s a decent deal on Chips Ahoy! cookies (and I know they have their fans!) There’s a store coupon in this week’s flyer that makes them $1.88 a package, limit 4. Use any of the $1 off 2 coupons from the Nabisco Fuel For School coupon booklet (found in stores in September) and pay $2.76 for 2, or $1.38 each… (Through 1/10.)
Continuing through 1/6! Dominick’s has a GREAT cracker deal going on many varities of crackers. It’s a “Buy 5, save $5,” and the prices shown assume you are buying in quantities of 5. You can buy many multiples of 5 in the same transaction too (5, 10, 15) to get the prices.
UPDATE: Stealfinder in our forum posted today that some prices may have changed for this deal, even though tags have stated through 1/6.. not nice, Dominick’s. Proceed with caution…
Here are your items and matchups…
General coupons to use with any of the following:
– 11/8 SS – $1 off Nabisco crackers
– 12/13 SS – $1 off 2 Nabisco crackers
– 8/23 SS – .75 off 2 Nabisco crackers
Nabisco “Back to School” coupon book found in stores in September has MANY $1 off 2 coupons for these as well, as does the “Jingle In Your Holiday” Nabisco coupon book currently found near Nabisco displays in many Dominick’s.

Mix and match any way you like here… but any way you look at it, you’re getting some CHEAP or FREE (if you buy the .99 Cheese Nips, with a $1 coupon) crackers! :)
Note too that the Jingle In Your Holiday coupon book contains a $10 rebate when you buy $10 worth of Nabisco crackers. While the Cheese Nips aren’t included, many other varieties (Ritz, Triscuit, Wheat Thins) are — and with coupons, you can take home 10 boxes of those for $1 each… then send in for your $10 rebate!
There are a few Dominick’s Super Coupons in this week’s flyer too (through 1/10.). Best bets?
.99/gallon Lucerne milk, limit 1
.98 18-ct. Lucerne eggs, limit 1
$1.99 Smithfield bacon, limit 4
$3.99 1lb. Medium Cooked Shrimp (sold in 2lb. bag.)
$1.88 Chips Ahoy! – deal is outlined above
$1.50 Nature Valley granola bars – MUST buy 4 to get price – deal is outlined above
Note that you like these coupons but plan to hit Jewel this week too, you may wish to take a look at this discussion on Jewel’s policy on competitor store-brand coupons (with regard to the house-branded milk and eggs coupons) …
A note on Dominick’s Super Coupons: All Super Coupons require a total purchase of $20 or more to use. But, the “Minimum $20 purchase” applies to the REGULAR, non-sale price of those items. Really! It’s even spelled out very well on Safeway’s corporate site:
What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases before your Club Card discount is applied. This total will include the coupon item’s regular price, not the discounted price. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (before coupon and before Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
So, knowing this, getting over that $20 mark isn’t as hard as it seems.
At Meijer, Coffee-Mate is the big deal of the week! Original flavor Coffee-Mate creamer is on sale for .99. Use the .50 coupon from 11/1 RP and take it home for .49! With this printable for $1.50 off 2, it’s even better… they’ll be a quarter apiece!
Meijer meat deals:
Ground Angus Chuck is $1.99/lb.
Boneless pork loin is on sale for $1.49/lb.
Forum reader btrmama08 spotted a great deal on Jello. Pumpkin Spice Jello is clearanced for .19 – (it’s a holiday flavor). There have been tearpads in the past for $1.25 off 3 Jellos – you may still find these in the store too. If you’ve got the coupons, you’re looking at SERIOUS potential Jello overage… and it’s free!
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
For my Rockford-area readers, Hilander has some good deals this week too…
Get ready for FREE guac! Wholly Guacamole is on sale for $1. Use this $1 printable to take it home for FREE!
One-dozen cartons of Kroger eggs are $1… no coupon needed…
Mini coupon lesson of the week:
In my Super-Couponing classes, one of the things I teach is that smaller sizes of products are often our best deals as coupon shoppers — especially on items that take refills. With regard to razors, plug-in air fresheners, pump soaps — it’s almost always cheaper to just buy another one (with a coupon!) than to buy the refill for the one you have.
Along those lines, here’s a great deal on Softsoap pumps. They’re on sale for $1 this week at Hilander, and there’s a .35 coupon in the 1/3 SS. This will double to .70 off, and you’ll take home your Softsoaps for just .30 each!
Hilander meat deals:
Pork steaks are $1.69/lb.
Ground chuck is $1.67/lb.
Boneless pork loin is $1.77/lb.
Tyson boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.87/lb.
Continuing YET again this week, Kroger 1/2 gallons milk are on sale for $1.25 each (orange juice and tea included at that price this week too.)
The milk coupons from www.dairymakessense.com would work well here. If you’re buying 2 gallons of milk (4 half-gallons,) use the $1 off chocolate milk coupon to get a 1/2 gallon of chocolate for a quarter!
Lastly, Hilander is running a P&G instant savings deal. Spend $25 and get $5 off instantly. The products are on the back of the flyer, and it’s pretty much the same list and matchups going on at Jewel this week… but the Jewel deal is much sweeter as you’re getting $10 back instead of 5. (You sure you don’t want to road-trip to Jewel, Hilander shoppers? :) Use the Jewel list above for coupon matchups for this deal…
Off to Target… which incidentally is THE place to be for after-Christmas clearance! At many stores, Christmas merchandise is now an incredible 90% off. Forum readers are reporting bargains including 6′ artificial Christmas trees in the $6 range – rolls of gift wrap for .15 — and oh, the TOYS…
Toys have dropped to the 50% mark at most stores, and they will go to 75% off within the next week or two. But, this is still a great time to shop — half off is fabulous… just keep your eyes open for the next drop very soon. I do almost all of my Christmas shopping for NEXT Christmas (2010) during these next couple of weeks!
Post-Christmas is also a great time to buy gift sets (think bath and body products, colognes, perfumes) as they’re reduced significantly after the holiday. Here’s a deal on Axe shampoo and body spray sets. The gift sets are marked down to $5 each. For every 2 you buy, you’ll get a $5 gift card. So, buying 2 essentially makes the second free – you pay $5 for both.
There are no current insert coupons for Axe, but somewhere along the way I picked up a $1.50 off Axe products coupon. I paid $3.50 for 2, or $1.75 each… not too shabby :) I believe the $5 gift card deal runs through early February.
Juicy Juice is a GREAT buy this week! It’s on sale for $2 a bottle. Head over to Target’s site and print the $1 store coupons there. Stack these with this $1-off-2 manufacturer coupon and you’ll pay $1 for 2, or .50 each!
While they may be next to impossible to find, the RayOVac battery deal continues, and it’s even better, as if there are any left, they’ve been reduced to .25 a package! Visit www.rayovacbonus.com and enter coupon code 74016761. You’ll get an unlimited-print $1 RayOVac coupon!
Keep in mind this coupon is for ALKALINE batteries only (Target Dollar Spot has other RayOVac varieties too.) And… enjoy those free batteries, with possible overage!
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens, the HOT HOT HOT deal of the week is on Electrasol / Finish dishwasher tablets! The 20-count packs are on sale for $3.49 with a $1 Register Reward. Use the $2.50 coupon from 1/3 SS, pay .99 … and get $1 back! FREE Electrasol!
Remember that you will only receive ONE RR per transaction, so you will need to split these up into individual transactions to make sure you get all your RRs if you’re using multiple coupons. But what a deal this is… and if you got enough papers this past weekend, you could potentially never buy dishwasher detergent again this year! (But are you even “buying” it? For the price of tax… hardly :)
My lovely sister Lynn reports that her store had packages advertising “25% more” tablets. She decided to take one for the team and see if it would trigger the RR … and it did! So look for those… though from early reports, I would buy any and all you can get if you find it in stock, as this one’s flying off the shelves.
Here’s another good deal on makeup. If you didn’t use your Revlon coupons in the Jewel deal noted above, you can take them to Walgreens this week. Many Revlon products are priced at $4.99. Stack the $3 off Revlon coupon from the Wags flyer with the $2 manufacturer coupon from 12/13 SS… and it’s FREE!
If holiday entertaining zapped your stockpile of paper products, you may like this next deal. Vanity Fair 100ct. napkins are on sale for $1.50. Use the “$1 off Vanity Fair napkins AND plates or bowls” coupon from 12/13 RP — the plates or bowls are $1.50 — and you’ll take BOTH home for $2!
Small boxes of Nabisco crackers are on sale for .99 each (back page of flyer.) Use this $2 off 2 coupon to get two for FREE!
Along with that deal, check out the .99 boxes of Chips Ahoy. There’s a hidden RR deal attached to these… buy 2, pay $1.98 and get $2 back in RRs! If you have the Nabisco $55 coupon book found in stores this past September, use a $1-off-2 coupon, pay .98 and get $2 back! COOKIE moneymaker! Thanks to Bekahbol708 in our forum for this find…
Isn’t Wags the place to be this week? Forum member Casagrande spotted yet another moneymaker. Glade candles also have a hidden RR attached – at $2.50 each, buy 2 and get $3 back in RRs. Use the $3 off 2 coupon from 11/22 SS or December All You, pay $2 and get $3 back! FREE candles and a moneymaker!
And, Stayfree maxi pads are very cheap this week too. They’re on sale for $6.29 each – not a good price. But, the $3 off coupon in the Wags flyer makes them better. You only need one coupon, and it will automatically take $3 off each pack you buy — and you’ll buy two here, because that’s the way this deal works! Stack that coupon with the “Buy One, Get One Free” Stayfree coupon from 1/3 RP and pay just $1.65 a package!
Note that CVS also has a Stayfree deal this week that, while only slightly more expensive, will also net you a FREE bottle of Listerine… read on…
And finally, over at CVS, they’ve got a super-hot deal going on Oust air sanitizer. Yes, whether or not you care about having a fresh-smelling home, you’ll want to get in on this one, because CVS will PAY you to take Oust home. Ready?
Oust is on sale for $3.99 a can. For each can you buy, you’ll get $3 back in ECBs, limit 6. Buy 2, use the Buy One, Get One Free Oust coupon from 1/3 SS. Pay $3.99 and get $6 back! Hello there, moneymaker! If you have multiple inserts, buy 4, use 2 coupons, pay $7.98 and get $12 back. Or, buy 6, use 3 coupons, pay $11.97 and get $18 back!
I expect Oust will be sold out EVERYWHERE. Get rainchecks, as CVS is usually very good about honoring ECBs after the sale has passed.
Here’s a deal that will net you a FREE light bulb! GE Energy Smart light bulbs are on sale for $2.99 with a $2 ECB. Use the $1 coupon from 1/3 S (11/22 SS has the coupon too,) pay $1.99 and get $2 back! FREE light bulb! Note that this is limit 1.
CVS has a promo going on Nivea products – spend $10 and get $5 in ECBs. Forum member Evey64 posted this scenario:
Buy 1 Nivea body wash for $6.99
Buy 2 Nivea lip balms or lip creams at $3.99 each
Use Buy 1 lip balm, get 1 free from 1/3 RP
Use $2 off body wash from 1/3 RP
Pay $8.98 and get $5 back.
If you get multiple inserts (which this was an excellent week to do) you could do this…
Buy 4 lip balms or creams at $3.99 each
Use two B1G1F coupons
Pay $7.98 and get $5 back. Two lip balms for under $1 each.
Crave NX diet aid spray is $7.99 with a $7.99 ECB = FREE…
And lastly, a GREAT Stayfree/Listerine deal! On page 15 of the current CVS flyer, you’ll note a “Buy 2 featured products, get FREE 16.9oz. Listerine.”
In class, I always stress that the least expensive ways to do these deals, of course, are to go with the least expensive products. And this week, that’s the Stayfree maxi pads. At $5 a package, buy 2. Use the B1G1F Stayfree coupon from 1/3 RP AND the $1 off Listerine coupon from 1/3 RP, 10/18 RP or 10/4 RP (yes, you can use that $1 coupon on your soon-to-be FREE Listerine!) You’ll pay $4 for 2 Stayfree and 1 Listerine. Super cheap!
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the price scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

At Walgreens, the stayfree is actually .29 for 2 after the bogo coupon and the $6 off from the store coupon.

When you buy two of the chips ahoy that are .99 at wags this week they are also triggering a 2 dollar RR so if you use the Q it is a 2 dollar MM!
Lynn Simmons says
On the betty crocker site there is a little better deal on the Nature Valley bars for Domincks. Check for the $1/2 and use those instead of the .40 ones.

If that Juicy Juice printable will work on Immunity Blend and Brain Development cartons, they are on clearance at Jewel for $1.99.

I cannot get the coupons to print. I am in an endless loop to install the coupon printer. I will try another computer. Anyone able to print these?
BTW – Jill you are the best!
I can’t wait to Birthday and Christmas shop for my son in the coming week.

Did the prices change this week for the Doms crackers?
I ask, because last week (Saturday night) I purchased 20 boxes. They included Mac ‘N’ Cheese crackers, Wheat Thins, and Triscuits (various flavors of each). All of these crackers were included in the $1 after discount group. I used various coupons and paid (in 2 different transactions) $5.12 and $2.13 and will send them in for 2 $10 rebates (different addresses). In some areas of the store these were marked as $1 after discount and in some areas they were marked as 99 Cents after discount. Not an issue really, but they definitely weren’t $1.49 as described in the deals above. Did they change, or is the above incorrect?

I am a new couponer. Today I went to the Grayslake/Gurnee CVS at Washington and 45. Bought 6 Ousts with 3 BOGO Q’s but got no ECB’s any idea why? She scanned my card but i did note that the coupon scanner in store was out of order could this be? What can I do?
Then went to Wags and tried the Vanity Fair napkins deal got them 2/$3.50 or so with $1.00 off but no RR. I think Jill said this was not checked out.
At CVS they had some candy M&Ms and Musketers among others BOGO @ .89 I had seen some Q on M&Ms that could make this even nicer. I stumbled upon them having a 2/$1 on the Musketeers AND a BOGO deal so ended up with 4 for $1. (They removed the 2/$1 after that.)
Also at Wags they have Just for Men at $3 off with Q in their flyer. If you register at JFM you get $2 off coupons for both hair and beard color. Making the $8.99 product just $3.99. not great but best I could do.
Help on the CVS ECB would really be appreciated.

My Walgreens wouldn’t accept my $2 off Nabisco coupon because the crackers added up to $1.98. I did buy extra items but they still wouldn’t let me use the coupon. Anyway I can argue to still use the coupon? Am I missing something? Thanks!!

Has anyone found more info on the nature valley specific cat? I have $1/1 Qs for the nut clusters.. I am hoping that I can get another 3.50catOYNO with that, since it would be another double dip with the GM $20/$5cat deal..
looks like the betty crocker fruit snacks and the NV granola bars are also double dippers! just need to know about the nut clusters… hmm

Did any of you see the promo for Extra gum at Jewel? I thought it was buy one pack for 1.00 and get a coupon at checkout for another free one…I asked CS and they thought (didn’t know for sure) you had to buy 10. I know I saw this somewhere–maybe a catalina? Anyone know? It was a Biggest Loser promo.

redplum has the IP for $1 of any J&J baby product again… it must have reloaded :o) PLUS there was at least one of these in everyone’s 1/3 RP insert… I got 6 papers, so I guess that means I could go to target or wal-mart and get 8 of the little buddies soaps Jill loves so much for FREE =) gotta love FREE!
At some point I was able to find an IP for 2.00/1 JJ product.. but I forget where now. It had wording on it saying it was only for use at Wags, so I used both of mine on the baby wash they had on sale for 2.99 (added bonus bottle packaged with it! YAY) had to be cupons.com or smartsource….
I love stocking up when I can on JJ products.. they are GREAT for my toddler son! He loves the bubble wash, but I also got the moisture wash for his dry winter skin…. it sure helps!

“If that’s not enough cheap yogurt for you, Yoplait is also on sale. It’s .40 a cup when you buy 20 (yes, you MUST buy 20. Details of this promo are in the SS 1/3 with the Sears ad on front.)……….” but I must be crazy because NO WHERE on the SS 1/3 with the Sears ad on the front does it talk about the Yoplait promo……I’m kind of worried, it seems that a lot of what Jill is writing doesn’t pan out…. a lot of coupons are not in the ads….Believe me I check and I’ve heard this from other friends too. Not slamming you Jill but I count on your Deals every week and I think it’s getting sloppy. Make me wonder are you doing us a favor or making us crazy looking for stuff that is not there???

I was bummed because I didn’t have any Ragu coupons. I got 8 jars at 2 for $3. They even had Alfredo on sale. When I checked out I got 2 Catalinas for $2 off my next shopping trip compliments of Ragu! That along with my $10 Cat for getting 2 Bounty (which also gave me 2 $1 off Avenu) and a $6 off my next $60 order adds up to $20 off. I can’t wait to see what is on sale next week!

hello Jill!
thought I might put this in there: when I went to print the Juicy Juice MFR Q, it came out a $1 off one! so, I may be getting two free bottle of juicy juice immunity flavor tomorrow :o)

I went to Jewel today to do some of the good deals that Jill posted. While there I noticed that the 4 pack of YoPlus is on sale 2/$3. In the 1/3 General mills insert, there is a $1 coupon on these, bringing them to $.50 for a 4 pack (12.5 cents each). Not bad =) I picked up 4. (Unfortunately I didn’t have any more papers)
This was a normal sale tag and not a clearance tag, so I’m hoping that this price should be universal for you all.
Also, I was browsing the aisles and noticed that there are a lot of clearance tags for various items. Not sure if this is at all Jewels, but it’s worth a look. I found Huggies baby wash and wash clothes on clearance for $1.84. Too bad I didn’t have a coupon, but I’m on the lookout, since Jewel has a 60 day refund for coupons.
Thanks for all you do, Jill! My cabinets are full to the max and my dad is installing a closet for more storage room. =)

I never realized there were comments at the end of the “deals” pages! I never scrolled down this far. I know it’s silly, but it made me happy. :) I love the info from Jill and the rest of you savvy shoppers. Thanks!

Jill-
Don’t you dare feel you should have to apologize to this person! This person is obviously one of “those” people. Probably one of the customers that throws your name around in line like you (or they) own the store.
Or the bully customer that tries to bend the rules to their benefit by intimidating the 16 year old child behind the counter even though they are only paying 6.00 for their 200.00 order but they are mad because the store won’t stack just one more non qualifying coupon on their order.
It probably never occurred to this mental giant that just like sometimes the Catalina machine malfunctions and your coupon doesn’t print, SOMETIMES THE NEWSPAPER STUFFER MALFUNCTIONS AND YOU DON’T GET ALL THE PAGES IN YOU INSERTS-DUH! News flash! Machines are imperfect, just like humans! And if this post makes the light bulb go off in the grumpy Gus’s head that influenced this rant, don’t think your gonna call the newspaper and complain like “that” either, they are in the business of selling you news not coupons they don’t care if your missing a yogurt coupon, they’ll apologize to you on the phone, but they will laugh at you the rest of the day!
Your lucky Jill doesn’t charge for this info! How much money has Jill saved you in the last year??? I personally won’t pay for laundry soap until my kids at least 5! And, you want to yell at her over a stupid yogurt insert??? REALLY???
Everyone – I’m sorry if this rant comes off a bit harsh, but I’m so tired of all the mean ungrateful people I encounter on a daily basis anymore! There is no excuse for the way people treat each other! So many people walk around with this air of entitlement pointing fingers at everyone else! There was no reason for that person to go off on Jill like that!
Jill – There are a lot of people (like myself) trying to make it on one income, that wouldn’t be able to afford a lot of the “extras” in life if it wasn’t for you and those like you that post these deals so we don’t have to spend hours of research and trial and error figuring it out for ourselves. So on behalf of all of “us” (and in spite of the couple of “them”) THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!

I am new to this. Attended a class of Jill’s in November 09. It is my New Year’s goal to get all this organized and moving full steam ahead. I too though have trouble finding some of the coupons mentioned. Maybe I live in a weird part of Kane County! Even though I might have the “SS with the TV on it”, I didn’t get the coupon (and I went through it 4 times). It’s just frustrating, but certainly not Jill’s fault. I get the Chronicle and have started with the Sunday Trib as well. I learn as I read this site & the posts, and that helps b/c I don’t have much extra time to devote to this. A friend says it takes her about 30 minutes to peruse sites and gather coupons – Wow! That’s my goal too!

So being that it’s hard to get your hands on Electrasol at Walgreens right now…….how likely is it that it will be free anywhere else before this coupon expires? Should I keep searching for it or just wait for another good deal to get it for free?

I’ve been reading a few posts about one of Jill’s links for certain coupons not working for some people. A while back, I was having problems printing any coupons that use the word “bricks” in the link, but I read somewhere that if you change just 2 letters in that address, it will work on Firefox. Click on the link, then change the “wi” to “wg” in the website address and click on it again and it should work. It has been for me for the last few months :) Hope it does for you! And Jill, thanks for the coupon links, I don’t know how you always find such high end ones, but we appreciate it!!!

Yesterday I bought the following…
1 Tide 100z liquid
2 Pantene
1 Downy Fabric Softener
I thought that because Jill had 1 Tide 2 pantene and 1 crest on one scenario, and knowing the Downy was much more expensive than the Crest, I thought it would work. Does anyone know what I might have done wrong? I bought the right oz and weight… read the tags to make sure I was getting the right product… yet nothing. Can I take my receipt back and ask? Is it too late that I have now left the store? Just wondering… and Jill thanks for all you do. I talk of you often on my FB page.
