If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog full Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I think Doms pulled the Tide off Deal Match. Didn’t see it at 1pm today :(

Anybody else having trouble pulling up the rebate form for the Neosporin in today’s Walgreen’s? Mine says I already pulled it up, (I didn’t!) OR that it’s no longer available.

Just a head’s up — the Buy 4 Get 1 coupon would not work with the giftcard deal. Per the manager, since the register would not allow it they are not allowed to override it. (I just have to go back with my 2 $1-off-5 Q’s and get the adjustment)
tctbtob says
The Palermo coupon is “no longer available” according to their website and the Quaker Popped Quakes coupon is not on RedPlum.
I can only imagine how infuriating this must be for you when you take all that time to write these out and then the coupons disappear. Thanks for trying Jill, it is appreciated.

Has anyone done the Aveeno deal? We were all excited last week, but have not seen that excitement today. Are they running at the same price as last week?

I just went to CVS to do the stay free deal and I was a little disappointed that I didn’t read the coupon closely enough. At my CVS the packages were $6.99. Unfortunately, the value of the free coupon only goes up to $4.49. Just wanted to point it out so that others could try and find packages that met that criteria.

I saw this at Jewel today too when I went to get applesauce. The Jewel brand Essential Everyday 64oz. cartons of orange juice are $2.79 regular price at my Jewel. The 1/6 SS3 has a $1 coupon which drops them to $1.79 – not a bad price for OJ!

So I bought some of Jewels “Great Deals” that ran thru today and each time I received a $1 off my next produce purchase or $1.50 off my next produce purchase. The oranges must have triggered it, but it was a nice surprise!
I said to my husband “Krogers never gives me those!” Not unless I am doing a Catalina deal anyway. So I want to redeem Krogers as I was looking at their digital coupons and ran across a game they have online. I just played around to see what it was and it is linked with the “Buy 5-Save$5” at checkout promotion they have going.
Click on PROMOTIONS and scroll to the “Pop to Save” one. You just have to check 5 items to add to your grocery list and then it lets you pop a balloon to possibly win up to $15 on your next trip. I got $1. You can play once a day it says.
So now Krogers is back up w/ my fav store Jewel! I wonder which prize will pop up next!?

Would the the $25.19 pampers with $2 PG coupon generate the catalina or should I buy wipes or something else too?

Today I was told that to get the $10.00 gift card I would have to actually spend $30.00 AFTER manuf. coupons. Is this accurate? It was a manager who told me that. If that is the case, then the deal is not so good for me. I didn’t see anything about coupons in the fine print. Please help. Thanks. :)

Hi Jill
I have a quick question. I’m planning to go to CvS today to do the Stayfree Deal. I know they’re on sale B1G1 and I have 4 coupons for B1G1 also. Just wondering: do I buy 1 package and get 2 free or do I get 2 pkgs free w/o paying? Thanks!!!
ymacorr says
The Cheeze-Its that are 3/$5 are the smaller boxes, and it’s not really a good deal. The per-ounce price is actually more than the larger boxes (also on sale for $2.99 or 2/$5 at Dominick’s). FYI

Has anyone received the $2 off coupon for Charmin after buying the single roll like Jill suggested? I bought the single roll on Sunday but when I went back yesterday I still didn’t get the coupon from the magic machine. I know it said it could take a couple days but I figured it should have come in by then.

Target has Nivea lip care for $1.99. Buy 2 and use the $3.00 off coupon (1/6 R1)and pay $1.00 for 2. I also notice that they also have a 2pk for $1.99. That would make it 4/1.00. Too bad I used all of my coupons at Walgreens.
