“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, January 10th.

THE BIG Finish Powerball deal
(Yes, this is the one EVERYONE wants to do this week!)
Buy 9 Finish Powerballs = $31.50
Use nine $2.15 coupons from the 1/1 SS2 (now $12.15)
Pay $12.15 and get a $10 gift card. That’s $2.15 for nine, or about .24 per box!
IMPORTANT NOTE! These coupons state “NO MORE THAN TWO (2) COUPONS FOR THE SAME PRODUCTS CAN BE USED IN THE SAME TRANSACTION.” Several readers have emailed pointing out that if you buy different varieties of Finish products (original, orange scent, etc.) you may be allowed to use more than two coupons in the same transaction, as long as you do not exceed two kinds of each of the same products. You will likely need to split this into multiple transactions to complete this deal though. And yes, this deal depends on you having bought a stack of 1/1 newspapers, though many couponers do that on the first of the year…

Deals continuing from previous weeks:
CVS is also running a “Spend $30, Get $10 Gift Card” promo on their house-branded CVS products. Spend $30 or more on select CVS branded items and get $10 back in “CVS CashCard” (it’s a CVS gift card.) This deal is running through 1/14/12.
The following brands are included:
CVS
Gold Emblem
Absolutely Divine
Caliber
RTH Round The House
Salma Hayek Nuance
Cristophe Professional
BioLuxe
Essence of Beauty
Fuel
Skin Effects
PetCentral
EarthEssentials
Just the Basics
Lumene
Frutopia
CVS vitamins and batteries are NOT included. And, anything house-branded that is involved in an additional ECB deal is also NOT included (I had thought diapers might be a good buy with this sale, but they have their own “Buy 6, get 7th FREE” ECB deal already running.)
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Can somebody tell me where to find the phone # for Catalina? I know I just saw it recently in Jill’s posts but can’t remember where. I did the Chex Mix deal this morning at Wags and just found out I didn’t get the $2 catalina. (I wasn’t sure there was 1 before I went).
Thanks for your help!

FYI- if you are looking to do the nestle catalina deals there are coupons on nestle’s site for Juicy Juice and coupons on Coffee-Mates site for .55 off 1 which will double and coupons $1 off 2.
Yoplait yogurts are on sale for .60 each and there are a lot of coupons out there for them. For every (10) you buy you will get a catalina for (1) free 5 ct. box of Fiber One brownies or bars! It was a good day to shop there!

they were on the page opposite of the target coupons in the 1st section.

I did the Stayfree deal at Jewel instead of CVS…they are on sale 2 for $5 & the Thursday ad had a $5 off $20 coupon that included the Stayfree. Bought 8 @ 2.50= $20- 4 BOGO Q’s ($10)-$5 store Q=$5 oop! Ends up .62/pack vs the .75 at CVS.

Great timing, my son goes back to college in 5 minutes and loves the tuna pouches. With 2 printables and 5 papers last week I am sending him back with 7. Now I just have to figure out how to get used to him not being home again :( Is there a coupon for that?

Was at Old Navy yesterday (the 7th) and there was a lot on clearance. My husband got a button down shirt for $1.85, although it wasn’t marked that. The McHenry store had a lot of stuff already cleared out, so the pickings weren’t that good. But I still used my Groupon!

I so appreciate your site because you are the one blogger who I see giving the rock bottom prices. I do want to express frustration though at encouraging coupons to buy 9 jet dry. Maybe CVS in the Chicago area does a great job of keeping their shelves stocked. Where I live about 2 people could buy 9 and the shelves would then be bare for probably the next two weeks. I would love to see all of us who want to save money remember that there are others wanting to save money too. Still I am grateful for your work Jill!!

Jill,
I’m confused. The Lean Cuisine deal at Couponnetwork.com is now showing up again. Is it good now? I linked to it through CouponTom, and don’t see anything about not being good until 1/18.
Thanks!

60 ct is $12.99 on sale. You can tell it’s Monday and I never checked the scanner but should know better because of the various sizes and prices on these types of things.
If there is a smaller one for $7.99, they are all out of it.
I’m new to doing CVS on a regular basis and what I find great is when they run these Buy $30 and get $10 giftcards, the overage is calculated towards the next qualifying purchases!

was $3 when I went today (Downers Grove Ogden Ave). There was a $1.50 coupon in the 1/8 SS. So, $1.50 for lactose free milk!

is actually a $2 store coupon “off your next in-store purchase”, not a register reward. So, I’m assuming the usually # items = # RR rule doesn’t apply in this case. :-D

Could they have removed it?

They only allow 1 package of Kraft cheese with the in-store coupon per transaction. So you cannot use the Manu. coupon which is $0.50/2 when they only let you buy 1 cheese at the $1.99 price. C’mon Jewel, seriously.

Check your JFU personalized prices, my mom has the Hefty garbage bags on hers for $6.49 a box. It says 45ct, but it also includes the 80ct for that price, we just tried it the other day. Currently these are on sale at Dominick’s where if you buy 2 or more you save $3 on each item.
So:
$6.49/JFU price
-$3/ when you buy 2 or more, mix & match
– $1 coupon 1/1 RP
=$2.49
Not a bad price for garbage bag!

In the CVS Air Wick deal you list using 3 BOGO and # $1.00/1 Qs. Is this correct? If so where do the $1.00s come from? Thank you! Am I missing something?

My daughter actually found this but Jewel (at least ours in Sugar Grove) has the 4.6 oz tube of Colgate Triple Action on clearance for $1.09. Add the .75 coupon on any Colgate from 1/1 S1 and you get the .34 price. Our store had it on the shelf with all the other Colgate’s and there was plenty of it there.

Update on Chex Mix catalina at Wags. I just heard back from Catalina today and some of the Chex Mix are not part of the Catalina. That would be Traditional flavor and Cheddar flavor which is what I bought. Which is kind of weird because those are very popular flavors. It was part of the reason I did that deal.
Jill you might want to change your post and warn people.

I did the deal yesterday at the Walgreens in CL and bought 2 Traditional and @ Turtle and got the Catalina.

Is anyone else having trouble doing the Slim-Fast deal with the $2-off-3 buy SIX shake 4-packs and use three B1G1F coupons and the $2-off-3Q? My McHenry Jewel is not letting me do this deal unless I buy NINE 4-packs even though I attempted to explain why this is correct coupon usage to them several times. I am very frustrated today because each day this week I have attempted to run errands after work and all I have to show for it is an upset stomach and a headache. Someone at the post office has decided to start returning all my mail “Addressee Unknown” despite the fact I have lived here since 1999. Yesterday I had to go to Best Buy (one of my least favorite stores) because the router I purchased less than two months ago quit working. I am just frustrated.
Two hours later: okay. I was pretty angry but I didn’t take it out on anyone in the store. I came home and had something to eat and sat for a while to cool off. Then I printed out the Jewel-Osco coupon policy and went right back to the store. I picked up the six 4-packs (not really the flavors I wanted but I wasn’t going to be choosy) and went up to the OSCO check-out. Didn’t even have to get the coupon policy out! Totally different experience and the lady was so nice and didn’t bat an eye over my coupons OR question my usage of them.
Bottom line: If you believe you are correct, verify and then go right back to the store and fight for your customer rights! So glad I did. And thanks, Jill, for all the links to the different store’s coupon policies.
