Unless otherwise noted, GROCERY store deals run through WEDNESDAY of this week,
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.

(Also, if you’re new, you may not have some of the coupon books that I refer to for some deals. Some coupon books can be found at the grocery store during seasonal promotions — look for them, as I’ll reference them when applicable. And, throughout the year, companies issue free coupon books that you can request to be mailed to you — register for them if you’d like, as I’ll reference them in future weeks’ deals.

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)

IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has discontinued its Avenu ecoupons as of today, 6/18/12. The ecoupons you can currently use with Jewel-Osco now are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.

This week’s deals with this coupon?

EE Specialty Mustards (spicy brown, dijon 12oz.) are $1.25 – just .25 after coupon.
EE Croutons (5oz.) are $1.25 – just .25 after coupon
EE Wide Pan Bread (24oz.) is $1.99 -.99 after coupon.
EE Graham Crackers, Vanilla Wafers or Animal Crackers (14.4oz.) are $2 – $1 after coupon.
EE Instant Rice (14oz.) is $2.19 – $1.19 after coupon.
EE String Cheese (12oz.) is $3.29 – $2.29 after coupon.

My beautiful mom also spotted a deal on EE Grated Parmesan cheese – 3oz. shakers are $1.49, just .49 after coupon, and 8oz. containers of parm or parm/romano blend are $2.75 – $1.75 after coupon. We haven’t seen a grated parmesan cheese deal in quite some time, so grab that if you’d like it!

Remember that these coupons are limited to one per transaction.

If you’re going for a Dr. Pepper deal, the 6/24 SS has a $1 coupon. With four coupons, pay $5 for four 12-packs, or $1.25 each!

If you’re going for Coke or Pepsi and you’ve got a Centrella store in your area, grab their ad, as many Centrella stores have a $3-off-4 Coke 12-packs manufacturer coupon AND a $2 off four Pepsi 12-packs manufacturer coupon.

With the Coke coupon, pay $6 for four 12-packs, or $1.50 each! And, with the Pepsi coupon, you’ll pay $7 for four 12-packs, or $1.75 each. Great deals all around, especially with the upcoming holiday!

Visa Gift Cards have a $5.95 activation fee that you will pay to activate your “free” $10 card. So, this is really a “Spend $30, Get $4.05” deal, which isn’t much of a deal AT all.

The only thing that could have saved this deal would have been to have Head and Shoulders included (there’s a nice B1G1F coupon in today’s 7/1 PG) but… it’s not. And nothing else here is stellar. Not even worth writing up…

Dominicks Grocery Deals

Now, you’d think that would be FIVE free cases of Coke, but Dominick’s puts their 12-packs notoriously high during this sale at $6.29 each. The Coke Rewards free coupons are good up to $4.99, so you’ll pay $1.30 each for your first two packs, then get the other three free. That’s $2.60 for five 12-packs, or about .52 each – still a steal!

The  V-Fusion Smoothies are also part of a national Catalina through 7/8 – buy 2, get a $1.50 Catalina; buy 3, get $2.25 Catalina; buy 4 or more, get $3 Catalina. There are no coupons current for these, but here’s what the deal looks like if you buy four: Pay $7.96 and get a $3 Catalina. That’s $4.96 for four, or $1.24 each! (Note that the Catalina does NOT run on the V-Fusion juices or teas. I bought those varieties over the weekend too figuring I’d “take one for the team!” They’re still both great prices so I didn’t mind.)

All in all, great prices for V8!  Remember, the $1.99 price is only through July 2!

In this week’s ad, 8 Giant Roll Bounty and 24 Double Roll Charmin Basic are both $9.99. You could buy three ($29.97) and use three .25 coupons from the 7/1 PG. Pay $29.99 and get $7 back. That’s $22.99 for three, or about $7.41 each.

 For the Bounty, that works out to about .91 per roll. For the Charmin Basic, it’s about .31 per double roll, a VERY good price!

CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!

And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Policies to know:

  • Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
     
  • With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
     
  • With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
     
  • Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
     

I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.

I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

  2. bought 5 earlier at $7.99 each. $7 dollars was deducted for each one and i used my dollar coupon to receive them free. did not get gas card because i used my 30% discount as well and that was deducted of my physican formula total. this had not happened before. usually all totals are before coupons. oh well, will have to go back and get 1 more free.

  3. One can save even more if you have any of the $1.00 coupons from the Duracell battery packs. They contain $1 off Bounty and some $1 off of Charmin as well. That would put your total minus the $7 cat at $19.97 for all three or $6.65 ea.

  8. The Nivea tins are $.99 at the CVS on Woodward and Boughton road in Woodridge and the ECB’s do print! I just bought 4 tins and got $8 in ECB’s! They still have a bunch left. (No tag on the shelf, but it does work)

    Physians’s FOrmula: look for specially marked Physician Formula’s lipsticks w/ $3 off peelie on them, they are $9.99 – $7 – $3 = FREE, plus counts towards gas card. If you have any $3 off $10 cosmetic purchase cpns from last week they can be used on the PHysicians Formula deals as well.

    I also got a free cortaid coupon from the magic coupons machine (up to $5,99).

    Pantene $6.50/2 – $3/2 cpn 6/24 SS (exp 7/31) – $2 off shampoo/conditioner from CVS cpn machine last week = $1.50/2 Pantene.

  11. I also got the $15 off a physicians formula purchase from the magic coupon this week. I got an awesome deal on 4 makeup products. I used my $15 coupon, an old $10 ECB and 3 $1 off Q’s. I paid $11 and got a $10 gas card…i consider that a $1 purchase :)

  12. Is there a limit on the coke deal as to how many you can buy? Do you have to have a $20.00 purchase with it, or can you just go in and buy the coke products only?

No need to doubt the deal, I was just there and items that were regular price rang up with $7 off, so a $7.49 item scans for $1.49 and it is the $1.49 that is applied to the gas deal (then there is also have the $1 man. coupon). When I scanned my card I received the $15 Physicians Formula coupon to apply to skin care so I was able to mix the cosmetics and skin care to get the $10 gas card. Nice deal!

  15. I used a $5 CVS coupon and I also used a $4 coupon that I probably received from a freebie that came in the mail. The coupon was made from cardboard.

  16. Anyone know of Italian beef on sale anywhere? Having my daughters 2nd bday & we are going to have beef sandwichs. Its so expensive for the beef, so if anyone knows where its on sale at, that would be great!

  19. Crystal Lake Aldi on Hwy 14 has bread, hotdog and hamburger buns for $.49 each. I think it is a temporary price reduction since the bread has been on the shelf close to 5 days. Bought some today and it is still very fresh. Better than Doms and Jewel! Also, milk at Aldi has been super cheap all month…$1.69/gal.

  20. How often does Meijer send out text messages when you sign up for their MPerks? I don’t have a smart phone and I don’t have unlimited texting with the cell I have. I would love to benefit from the ecoupons and other deals that are available through MPerks, but don’t want to be paying for a ton of texts from Meijer.

  22. In case you missed the Goldfish deal at Dominick’s (like I did!): if you’re a Costco member and got their June/early July coupon book, you can get a giant box of cheddar Goldfish crackers (58 oz.) for $6.49 thru this Sunday. Regular price is $8.49 – $2 Costco q.

    The sale price is equivalent to about .74 for the 6.6 oz. bag (or about 97 cents a bag when it’s the regular price).

    If you don’t get their coupon books in the mail, you can stop by the membership desk at the beginning of the month and ask for one; although they do run out quickly.

  24. I was just at Krogers and last weeks items in the buy 10 sale must carry over to this weeks. I got the Kraft BBQ sauces which had peelies on them for $2 off Koolaid or Countrytime (which was also a qualifier in the mega event!)

    I did get 2 Breyers Ice creams, using the coupon from Jewels book, but you could get just BBQ and lemonaid for nearly free!

    Buy 7 Kraft BBQ sauces (3 with peelies, I think they are on original) X .39 = $2.73

    Buy 3 Koolaid or Countrytime X $1.50 = $4.50

    $7.23 – 3/ $2 off peelie = $1.23 For all 10 items!

    I am going back to do it again with my $2 off next order, so actually will be 77 cents overage! (will pick up more reduced milk or bread, they had 1/2 gal milk for 50 cents!)

    And Jill, you thought the 39 cents BBQ sauce was a good price. wink

    PS anyone see a coupon for Kraft BBQ sauce for that lone 7th one? I didn’t have one. Shameful!
