Hello, Super-Couponers! It’s hard to believe we’re in the last week of July! (Where has the summer break gone?) While summer’s slipping away, great shopping deals are not. Many of our readers have noted clothes and toy clearances popping up around town (hint – some Old Navy stores have reduced clearance by 50%, both Target and Meijer have clothes clearances going on, and Target and Kmart are also clearancing toys 50%-75%.)
This week’s newspaper contained two inserts: SmartSource and RedPlum. Parade Magazine also has some coupons you may want to save, including $1 off Olay, $3 off Bausch and Lomb, .50 and $2 off Celsius tea, and .50 off Walgreens store-brand medications.
Now… ready for your Deals of the Week? You may enjoy bargain-priced steak and chicken breasts, .99 Pam spray, FREE Kraft salad dressing, $1.49 Bisquick, a super-cheap cheese Catalina deal, bargain Lay’s chips with FREE bonuses, FREE Yoplait Delights, .36 2-liters of 7-Up, a Fruit-of-the-Loom instant-savings deal, cheap Twizzlers, FREE U by Kotex (again,) CHEAP Pampers, and Kmart Double Coupons return! Let’s get started!
(Print: , Email:, or, jump directly to comments on this week’s deals…)
If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations.

A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on Illinois stores, the Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. Grocery Deals
For the Jewel email list members, this is the LAST DAY to use your free bread and free produce coupons at Jewel with the expiration date of 7/26! It sure has been fun :) (Reader Ldurec notes in the comments below that the second batch of free bread coupons has an end date of 7/31 – so a few more days to use that one!)
(Lots of produce deals to use that $2 in free produce coupon on too — a whole watermelon will cost you $1.49! Reader Kelli323 noted too that at her store, she spotted a display of Minute Maid lemonade with coupons for a FREE 2-liter bottle when you buy a watermelon!)
Huge props to Jewel though for continuing to honor these coupons throughout the duration of the sale, even though they clearly did not estimate the demand for them and how many people would use unlimited-print coupons for free things. (Yes, I’m talking to you, Kmart, who pulls down every good printable released to shoppers before the coupon’s end date due to so-called “overuse.”)
Thanks to the bread coupon, so many of us tried wonderful things from the bakery that we might not have otherwise. Some faves? The tomato foccacia, the challah (oh readers… make French toast with challah once, and you may never use regular bread again,) the pumpernickel, the marble rye, the olive-oil-and-garlic artisan, the naan… but I digress. :)
Aside from the deals carried over from last week, it’s not a terribly busy week at Jewel (though there are some great deals on the horizon in the weeks ahead — more on that in a bit.) I’m getting some emails about the $1.75 cereal sale (with Quaker and Kellogg’s cereals priced at $1.75 when you purchase four) but as we just saw many of these cereals at .50/box post-coupon within the past two weeks, I passed on this. Cereal has been, and will be, much cheaper…
Reader Outlander spotted a deal on Pure Protein bars. They’re on sale for .99. Use the $1 coupon from August All You, and it’s FREE!
Dannon yogurts are cheap again! 4-packs of Dannon Activia, DanActive, Light & Fit, Danimals, Danonino, and 6-pack Coolisions are on sale for $2. Use any of many $1 coupons to cut this to $1:
$1 off Activia – 7/18 SS
$1 off Danimals, Crush Cups, or Coolision
$1 off DanActive – 6/6 SS
$1 off DanOnino – printable
With .50 coupons, pay $1.50 for:
.50 off Light and Fit – 7/18 SS
.50 off Danonino – 7/18 SS
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
89-ounce jugs of Minute Maid orange juice are $2.99 – a good price.
Kraft “Buy 5, Save $5” Catalina sale – through 8/15/10! Buying any 5 of the following products will generate a $5 Catalina, plus Kraft will donate 5 meals to Feeding America. This is NOT in the weekly ad yet, but alerts for the deal have listed the start date as 7/19/10. (And oh, how inconvenient that the WONDERFUL Kraft coupons in the “Add Dairy to Your Summer Adventure” coupon book all expired last week, right before another cheese deal..! Oh well. Note that the same deal is also running at Dominick’s, and you CAN use these expired coupons over there, which does sweeten the deal.) Here are your products and matchups: Breakstone Cottage Cheese Breakstone Sour Cream Cheez Whiz Cracker Barrel cheeses Knudsen Cottage Cheese Knudsen Sour Cream – 16oz. and up Kraft Cracker Cuts Cheese Kraft Deli Deluxe cheese slices Kraft Natural Cheese (Chunks, Crumbles, Cubes, Shredded, Sticks) Kraft Parmesan Cheese Kraft Singles Kraft String-Ums cheese Philadelphia Cream Cheese Velveeta Cheese products |
“Buy 3, get $5” P&G Catalina Deal – through 7/31/10 Buying any 3 of the products included in the sale generates a $5 Catalina! If you’re a UPC list person, here’s a link to the list. Here are your products and matchups: Always 20-48ct. pads, 80-120ct. liners Clairol Herbal Essences haircare (NOTE travel sizes no longer generate the Catalina) Olay products (see UPC list for complete listing) Pantene Pro V Classic Clean regular 25.40oz (ONLY Pantene product in deal) Secret deodorant 2.6-3.25oz (NOTE travel sizes no longer generate the Catalina) Tampax 40ct. tampons |
EASY scenario with this sale? Buy 3 Tampax ($3.79 each.) If you get multiple papers, both the July and June P&Gs have $2 coupons. Buy 3, use three $2 coupons, pay $5.37 and get $5 back! THREE boxes of Tampax for .37!
Make sure to check the UPC list though too, as only certain varieties are included. You know the drill. :)
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? If not, you’re missing out on some GREAT coupons! Jewel has been making coupons available for everything from meats to party trays to free bread and free produce over the past few weeks. I have really been impressed with the nice coupons Jewel has been sending to their email subscribers lately & would highly recommend getting on their list if you shop there.
Jewel’s house brand of diapers, Baby Basics, are a good buy with coupons! Jumbo packs are $7.99-$16.99 each at most stores depending on size of box/package. Use these $4 printables here (print 2!) and cut that price nicely!
Coupon booklets currently found at Jewel
Kellogg’s Fuel For School $20 coupon books – on a school-bus cardboard display at many stores — here’s a list of what’s inside.
Score More Savings – (soccer ball on cover) – has $28 worth of manufacturer and store coupons inside, including a FREE cookie at the deli counter, $2-off-2 Kellogg’s, B1G1F 5lb. bags of Riceland rice, and many other goodies. Full list here. Expiring 7/31/10, with the exception of the Riceland coupon, which expires 12/31/2011..!
Sizzling Savings: Save More All Summer (child eating burger on cover) – manufacturer coupons for summer-themed products, like Popsicle, Klondike Bars, Banana Boat sunscreen, Pam grilling spray, and more. Full list here. Expiring 7/31/10.
If you missed the news, Jewel stores are downsizing their product offerings (if you click the link & read, you’ll see most of us are not happy about this development — please feel free to add your two cents to the discussion.)
Jewel meat deals:
- Fresh jumbo chicken wings are $1.99/lb.
- Frozen Jennie-O turkey breast is $1.99/lb.
- Fresh Express bagged salads are $2 each. Some readers recently received a Jewel mailer with a $2 off coupon inside — use it this week, and your salad is FREE.
- Jewel’s running their “Fav 4” four meats for $19.99 offer. As with anything, the best items here are going to be the ones that are already priced at their lowest per-pound price.
Jewel seafood deal:
- Fisher Boy breaded fish fillets, tenders or sticks are $3.99 for a 24-ounce package — that’s $2.66/lb. But with a .75 coupon, pay $3.24 — that’s an even better $2.16/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- Zucchini or yellow squash is .99/lb.
- Cauliflower or broccoli crowns are $1.49/lb.
- Peaches, white and strawberry peaches, nectarines and pluots are $1.99/lb.
- Tomatoes on the vine are $1.99/lb.
- Organic Braeburn apples are $1.99/lb.
- Organic Wild Harvest baby carrots are $1.99/lb.
- Whole seedless indiana watermelons (13-17lbs) are $3.49 each, limit 2 – A STEAL, especially with $2 produce coupon from Jewel email list!
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
ALMOST LASTLY… heads up on another P&G Catalina coming! Scheduled to start 7/28, alerts are printing for a “Spend $30, get $10 from the Gift Card Mall in the store. If we can buy JEWEL gift cards with this, then it’s just as good as cash and something to look forward to…
and…
REALLY LASTLY, for now… heads up on ANOTHER ice cream Catalina coming too! Scheduled to start 8/5 and run through 8/11, it’s another “Spend $12, Get $4” on ICE CREAM! Start looking for Edy’s, Haagen-Dasz, Drumsticks, Eskimo Pie, and Skinny Cow coupons…
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick’s deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals.
Again with the STEAK STEAK STEAK! Here’s another great steak deal… Dominick’s has Rancher’s Reserve boneless round steak for $1.69/lb! Load “$2 off $10 Rancher’s Reserve” ecoupon to your Fresh Values card, buy about 6lbs. worth and save even more! What else is there to say? That’s a fantastic price! Stock up! :) AND, if you do the Classico pasta sauce deal below, remember there’s a $1.50 off fresh beef when you buy Classico coupon that will bring the price of your steaks down even more!
(To give you an example – I bought a $10.18 round steak, got $2 ecoupon savings ($8.18) and used three “$1.50 off beef when you buy Classico” to correspond with my 6 jars. Saved another $4.50 ($3.68.) Then I used the “$2 off meat when you buy Kingsford charcoal” coupon to knock that steak down to a ridiculously cheap $1.68! But more on THOSE coupons in a moment… because there’s another great meat deal at Doms this week too, and that is…)
CHICKEN CHICKEN CHICKEN! Safeway boneless skinless frozen chicken breasts are $1.69/lb. with Super Coupon (sold in 4lb. bag for $6.76) – already an excellent price, but use the $1 coupon for these from the “Get Out And Grill” coupon book available in store and pay $5.76 for the 4lb. bag — that’s $1.44/lb! A STEAL!
I’m posting both of these below in the meat deals too but wanted to make sure everyone saw them… both are really great prices for these. AND, get rainchecks — my Doms was completely sold out of the chicken on Sunday afternoon.
FREE marinade too! Reader kvaughn41 points out too that many Dominick’s will marinade your fresh meat free at the meat counter, so if you’re buying steak, you may want to take advantage of that. There’s a great discussion in the Forum that also notes you can freeze meats IN marinade – put both meat and marinade in a freezer bag and it will marinate as it thaws. All good to know with these cheap steak deals, so there are your time-saving tips for today! Now, back to the deals…
Pam Grilling Spray is cheap too. It’s on sale for $2.99, but you’ll need both of the great coupon books available right now at Jewel and Dominick’s to do the deal (you are picking these up when they’re mentioned on the blog, right?) Take the $1 manufacturer coupon for Pam from the Jewel “Sizzling Summer Savings” book and stack it with the $1 store coupon from the Dominick’s “Get Out And Grill” book. $2.99 – $2 = .99 Pam! A good price if you didn’t stock up during the last crazy Catalina sale…
If you didn’t use your $1 Kraft Salad Dressing coupons from 6/20 SS, this would be a good week! Salad dressing is on sale for $2. The “Get Out And Grill” book has a $1 store coupon for Kraft salad dressing. Stack it with that $1 manufacturer coupon, and… you guessed it… FREE salad dressing!
Bisquick 40oz. is cheap this week too. On sale for $3.49, let’s knock that price down with some electronics! Load .50 ecoupons from both Cellfire and ShortCuts. Now you’re down to $2.49! And, in the Verano 2010 (Spring, the previous issue) of Que Rica Vida*, there’s a $1 Manufacturer coupon! Stack all 3 together and you’re looking at $1.49 Bisquick!
If you don’t have the $1 coupon, print a .50 coupon and take it home for $1.99! Still a great price for a lot of cheap pancake breakfasts! :)
(*Que Rica Vida is General Mills’ quarterly Spanish coupon magazine that many of us get for the coupons — if you don’t, sign up to receive it here.)
O Organics half-gallons of organic milk are $3.19. If you picked up any of the $1 off any O Organics coupons recently in the store, pay $2.19 – not a bad price for organic.
The Snuggle fabric softener and All deal is back again! They’re on sale 3-for-$9.99 ($3.33 each.) Use the $3 coupon from 3/28 RP (exp) for Snuggle and pay .33! Use $2 (exp) coupons for All from 2/7 RP, 1/3 RP1, 12/6/09 RP (exp) and pay $1.33!
If (like us) you got hooked on Dole Sensations juices during a recent Catalina deal (their watermelon juice is yummy!) it’s on sale for $1.99 through sometime in August. If you still have the $1 coupons from the “Score More Savings” booklets at Jewel, pay .99 a carton. Additional $1 coupons can be found in 4/18 RP (exp) and 5/2 SS Espanol (exp.)
“No Coupons Needed” Deals
Mott’s Apple and Mott’s Medleys juices are $1.49 each — a great price, even without a coupon. ($1.50/bottle is a cycle low for any 64oz. bottled juices.)
UPDATE: Now it’s a coupon deal! Reader Apolino spotted a nice matchup for this — the .50 coupon in the 6/13 SS knocks Mott’s Medleys down to $1!
Nancy Martin white or wheat bread is .99 a loaf…
Kraft “Buy 5, Save $5” Catalina sale – through 8/15/10! This is the same deal running at Jewel, but with the addition of being able to use expired manufacturer coupons, there are more coupons available at Dominick’s. Buying any 5 of the following products will generate a $5 Catalina – effectively reducing ALL prices shown by $1. Breakstone Cottage Cheese – 16oz. – $3.19 Breakstone Sour Cream – 16oz – $2.59 Cheez Whiz – $2.99 Cracker Barrel cheeses – $4.99 Kraft Cracker Cuts Cheese – $3.99 Kraft Deli Deluxe cheese slices $3.49 Kraft Natural Cheese (Chunks, Crumbles, Cubes, Shredded, Sticks) – $1.99 (through July 28, $3.49 after) Kraft Parmesan Cheese – $4.99 Kraft Singles – $3.49 Kraft String-Ums cheese – not stocked at my store Philadelphia Cream Cheese – $1.99 (through July 28, $2.79 after) Velveeta Cheese products – 32oz. $6.49 |
The best scenario here? Finding 5 bags of shredded cheese with $1 peelies. You’d pay $4.95 for 5 and get a $5 Catalina back! FREE cheese!
With two of the $1-off-2 coupons, buy 5 $1.99 cheeses, pay $7.95 and get $5 back. $2.95 for 5 bags of shredded cheese is .59 each! (Shredded cheese freezes well too!)
As usual, there are Dominick’s Super Coupons* in this week’s ads too. Best bets?
- AGAIN this week, and a new matchup makes it even better: Classico Pasta Sauces are $1.49, limit 6, with Super Coupon. Use the Buy One Alfredo, Get One Sauce Free coupon from 1/10 SS (exp) and pay $1.49 for 2, or about .75 each. There’s also a “Buy 2 Classico, save $1.50 on beef” coupon in 3/14 SS (exp.) AND, the new weekly Jewel ad has a $1.50-off-2 manufacturer coupon in it. With this coupon, you’ll pay $1.48 for 2, or .74 a jar…
- Barilla Pasta is on sale for .79 a box, limit 6, with Super Coupon. The 3/7 SS (exp) has .55 off Piccolini and varieties, which works out to .24 a box.
- Hamburger Helper or Suddenly Pasta Salads are .99 with Super Coupon when you buy 4 (you MUST buy 4 to get this price.) For a Hamburger Helper deal, use any of these coupons: .75 off 3 Hamburger Helper – 6/20 SS, 5/30 GM, 5/2 SS (exp), 4/11 SS (exp), 3/7 SS (exp), 2/7 SS (exp), 1/3 SS1 (exp) or a printable. Buy four, and you’ll pay $3.21 for 4, or about .80 each! For a Suddenly Pasta Salad deal, use any of these coupons: .50 off 2 – 6/27 SS, 6/6 SS, 5/23 SS (exp) or a printable. Stack this with a .75-off-3 ecoupon. Buy four, and you’ll pay $2.21 for 4, or .55 each!
- Lay’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips – are $1.77 with Super Coupon. Use the $1 coupon from 3/14 SS (exp) or June All You (exp) and pay .77! There’s also a .50 printable here. Also look for peelies for FREE Rold Gold pretzels when you buy 2 Lays, and/or tearpads for either $2 off produce when you buy 2 Lays, or a tearpad for a FREE bag of Sun Chips when you buy 2 Lays! Any way you slice it, those are some CHEAP snacks :) (And, oh, if you saved some of those older tearpad coupons for “Free reusable grocery bag when you buy Sun Chips?” The mind reels… UPDATE: Reader Outlander also spotted a tearpad for “Buy 2 Lays, get free Dominick’s burger or hot dog buns!” Do you think Lays are going to FLY off the shelves this week? :)
- Yoplait Delights yogurt parfaits are $1.79 each, limit 3, with Super Coupon. Load the $1 ecoupon from Cellfire and stack it with the $1 ecoupon from Shortcuts. I’m sure you’re doing the math along with me… FREE with overage with 2 ecoupons! But why stop there? Stack a .50 manufacturer coupon too (7/25 SS, 6/20 SS, 5/16 SS (exp,) 3/21 SS (exp) and you’re looking at .71 in potential overage. If you like these, buy 2, use two .50 coupons plus the two $1 ecoupons and pay .29 for each 4-pack – also a STEAL! And, if you picked up any of the “Simply Delicious” Yoplait coupon books (available in May – I had some as giveaways in my June Super-Couponing classes too) there’s a $1 off Yoplait Delights inside..! Surely free with overage!
- 2 liters of 7-Up and Pepsi are .69, limit 4, with Super Coupon. If you picked up the “Score More Savings” coupon books at Jewel recently, there’s a manufacturer coupon inside for $1-off-3 7-Up! Use the coupon, buy 3, and pay $1.07 for THREE, or .36 a bottle!

- Lucerne butter is $1.99 for a 16oz. package
There are a LOT of other unadvertised and semi-advertised sales going on at Doms too right now. Most of these are not in the ad with prices, so I spent about an hour at Doms with my little notebook gathering intel for you :) All prices were collected at the Lake in the Hills Dominick’s, so yours may vary slightly.
Kicking things off here’s another Catalina deal that starts today — it’s not in the ad yet, but alerts have been printing for…
And yet ANOTHER instant-savings deal barely mentioned in Sunday’s ad, but running now…

NOTE THAT ONLY THE “BASIC” rectangular green-and-white box dinners work with the Super Coupon. And, oddly, if you buy 5 basic meals and ANY of them are Shrimp Scampi, the Super Coupon is only taking off .51 (total) for all 5 (tried it to see what would happen, thinking it would take another $1 off each, but it didn’t.) Other readers who have stayed away from that (yummy) Shrimp Scampi have gotten the additional $5 drop from the $1.99 price, making each box .99 BEFORE coupons, and even cheaper with them. It’s a weird little deal. Michael Angelo’s Italian Entrees – 12oz. – $3.49 ($2.49 after instant) Ore-Ida Potatoes – 20-30oz. – $2.99 ) ($1.99 after instant) Pillsbury Toaster Scrambles – 10-11.5 oz. – $2.99 ($1.99 after instant) Pillsbury Toaster Strudel – 10-11.5 oz. – $2.29 ($1.29 after instant) Red Baron Frozen Pizzas – 19.79-22.1oz. – $3.99 ($2.99 after instant) Smart Ones Classic Favorites – 4.58-11oz. – $3.00 ($2.00 after instant) OR $2.50 ($1.50 after instant) depending on varieties Wanchai Ferry Frozen Meals – 24oz. – $5.99 ($4.99 after instant) |
In looking at this deal, I see lots of potential for that B2G1F Ore-Ida coupon in the current Jewel ad with this deal..! And those of you that now have your mouths watering for Wanchai Ferry after my date-night story can pay $3.49 a bag during this sale — that’s a pretty good price for a meal for 2 and the cheapest I’ve ever seen these.
(Maybe the husband and I will have to re-create our “romantic evening” at home again soon! Ha!)
And YES, ANOTHER instant-savings deal too. (Doms, you really kept me busy this week!) This one is…
“Buy 3, Save More” instant-savings sale – through September 5, 2010 Buying any 3 of these items (mix or match) will give you the second price shown. Nothing super-hot here, but it’s a long sale. We’ll look for double-dips with future Cat deals…

This could be interesting as I saw some Mom 2 Mom diapers clearanced at the store while I was there… and my longtime readers know how well I once did during a store-brand diaper deal that coincided with a Catalina..!
UPDATE: Reader Jewelover wrote to say she got an alert for this deal, and it EXCLUDES diapers and training pants. Huh? What fun is that? And, the Catalina you get will be good for money off your next Mom 2 Mom purchase — also, no fun. Moving along…
*A note on Dominick’s Super Coupons:
What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (after Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals of the week for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, and St. Charles:
It’s kind of a lighter week at Meijer too, other than the Kellogg’s/Fruit of the Loom sale, which we’ll get to in a minute. If you go, check the clothing clearances, particularly for kids — and become friends with the price scanner in the store. I found that at the Algonquin Meijer, the prices things were scanning for were often significantly less than was shown on the clearance sticker.
Bagel Bites snacks are on sale for $1.50. Use the $1 coupon from 6/13 SS and pay .50!
Meijer is the only store I know of that actually runs instant-savings deals on socks and underwear! (Hey, we all need them.) Last time we saw a similar deal, it was in December on Hanes products. This time around, it’s a “Buy $10 worth of Kellogg’s, get $10 off any 3 packages of Fruit of the Loom socks or underwear” sale! Here’s a list of products and matchups: Eggo waffles – $1.67 Keebler crackers and cookies – $2.49 (Multipacks are $4.89) Kellogg’s cereals (Family Size (20+oz. boxes are $3.34, regular are $2.99) Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts – $2.50 for 12-count Kellogg’s Rice Krispie Treats (no price in ad) Kellogg’s Yogos – $1.99 Special K bars – $2.49 Special K protein water mix – $3 Special K protein shakes or bars – $5 Sunshine Crackers – $2.49 (In the case of the “Fuel For School” coupons, the “bonus” items they’re for don’t count toward your Catalina goal, but if you can work them in to get other things as part of this deal? Supreme!) Now… Buying $10 worth of THOSE products will give you $10 instant savings off any THREE of these: Fruit of the Loom Boys’ crew socks – 6 or 7-packs – $3.99 Fruit of the Loom Girls’ ankle socks – 6 or 8-packs – $3.99 Fruit of the Loom Girls’ 10-pair bikini underwear packs – $4.99 Fruit of the Loom Men’s 6 or 8-packs socks – $4.99 Fruit of the Loom Men’s 5 or 6-pack Crew Tees – $7.49 Fruit of the Loom Women’s 6 or 8-pack socks – $4.99 Fruit of the Loom Women’s 6 or 7-pair packaged panties – $5.99 UPDATE: Reader TeenieGeenie notes that there’s a $1-off-2 Fruit of the Loom coupon in August All You, and reader Ellen notes that Coupons.com has a $1-off-2 Fruit of the Loom printable IF you use zip code 90210! Thanks! Note that these coupons are not for “hosiery,” (socks) so you will need to use them on the underwear. |
Reader Heybets30 saw some great deals on school supplies at Meijer this week too: “Elmer’s glue ($0.25 each, limit 10); colored crayola pencils 12-pack are $0.99 each no coupon needed; Crayola watercolor paints ($1.00); Crayola 24-pack crayons ($0.25 each, limit 10).” Thanks!

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES Meijer location, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the store is newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.
For my Rockford-area shoppers (and Kroger shoppers too!) here are your Hilander sales for the current week…
Crest toothpaste is free after a coupon double! It’s on sale for $1. Use the .50 coupons from 6/27 RP or 6/6 PG, which double to $1, making this FREE! Add some Oral-B toothbrushes to your shopping list too — on sale for $1, use the $2-off-2 coupon from 7/4 PG, buy two, and get both FREE! AND, Reach toothbrushes are also still $1. Use the $1 coupons from 5/16 RP, 3/17 RP, and… you guessed it :)
Just because I love them, and everyone deserves a reward once in a while for being such a smart shopper… Twizzlers are $1.49 for a 12-17 oz. bag. Use the $1-off-3 coupon from 6/27 SS, buy 3, and pay $3.47 for three — that’s about $1.16 a bag… or get them at Walgreens for even less…
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
64oz. bottles of Kroger apple juice are $1.29 – a great price.
Gallons of Kroger orange juice are $2.99 – also a great price.
One-dozen cartons of Kroger eggs are .88…
Deals continuing from previous weeks:

Scotch-Brite sponges are $1.19 – .69 each with your instant savings. Use the $1-off-2 coupon from 7/11 SS, buy 2, and pay .19 each! A nice filler to use to get up to 10 items if you need something cheap too :) Del Monte Fruit Chillers are $1.99 each – $1.49 each with your instant savings. Use the $1 coupon from 4/18 RP or a printable and pay .49! Dixie paper plates are $1.99 each – $1.49 each with your instant savings. - 3lb. bags of Clementines are $3.99
Remember too that Hilander doubles coupons up to .55 face value every day! You are only allowed to double two of the SAME coupon per day though — additional coupons will ring at face value. (Split your trips if you’re stocking up!)
Readers outside Illinois will want to check with their local Kroger or Kroger-affiliated stores to determine how they handle coupon doubling.
Whoa! Did you see the explosion of new Target store coupons on their site? Truly there must be 50 new store coupons up. As I started sifting through these, my readers immediately started sending me deals and matchups and links — Totally Target has a great list of everything that’s new with matchups, so why reinvent the wheel… head over and check that out.
However, here are the super-hot ones you’ll want to take note of:
$1 off Chef Boyardee — cans of Chef Boyardee sell for under $1, so they’re FREE with coupon
$1 off Bagel Bites — Bagel Bites are $2.24 at most stores. Stack with $1 coupon from 6/14 SS and pay .24!
$1 off Snyders Pretzels – They’re $2.09 at most stores. Stack with $1 coupons from 4/11 SS, 7/25 SS OR $1-off-2 coupon from 5/23 SS for cheap pretzels
Thanks to reader Sebrugger for some of these matchups!
Reader couponloving noted that if you’re still holding those nice $2 coupons for Crystal Light Pure Fitness from a recent Vocalpoint mailer, it’s on sale for $1.97 this week at Target. FREE!
While at Target, take a stroll through the toys and clothing departments – many people are reporting toys are clearanced between 50-75% off at their stores (those of you that have taken my Super-Couponing 2 workshop know we’re hitting a seasonal cycle low for both!) I picked up two $19.99 wooden train sets for $4.98 at 75% off. Clothing clearance abounds throughout the store too. I bought some new sandals for under $5.
In the non-deal department, I can tell you guys what not to buy this week at Target — the new “designer” packs of Pampers diapers featuring boys or girls’ designs by Cynthia Rowley. $14.99 for a 23-pack of Pampers? With a “Quantities limited, no rain checks” notice? Who are they kidding?
We all know what kids do in diapers. Then you throw them away. Paying .65 per diaper for pretty pictures on your kid’s bottom is SO not worth it. (A good couponer’s price per diaper is .10-.12 each, or less — see this week’s CVS deal for a MUCH better price on Pampers.)
However, keep your eyes on the clearance endcaps for these about 6 weeks from now — these could be a better buy then. :)
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
The Big Swiffer Deal
(This deal’s legendary! If you hold your coupons and play them right, it’s always cheaper to buy a Swiffer and a refill than buying the Swiffer or the refill alone. I’ve done this deal numerous times over the past few years in one form or another…)
You’ll need the Target store coupon for $3 off the Swiffer Starter Kit from the 6/27 Target insert (some editions of the Tribune did not receive this insert) and the “Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit, get a FREE refill coupon from the Home Made Simple: Decor Done Right coupon book.
Buy a Swiffer Sweeper starter kit ($8.99 at most stores.) Your $3 coupon knocks this down to $5.99. Now, get the LARGEST Swiffer refill you can find, as the coupon does not specify a size or quantity for your refill. (I like the 36-count Swiffer wet floor wipes, which usually sells for $14! It comes in a large cardboard “case” as opposed to the plastic tubs, and I’ve only seen this size at Target.) Pay $5.99 for the Swiffer AND the wipes — that’s cheaper than buying the wipes alone.
Some editions of the 5/16 RP contained a Target store coupon for $1 off any Bounty paper towels. Single rolls of Bounty Basic sell for .99 at most Targets! Get a roll free (through 7/31!)
Target has launched mobile Target coupons which you can load to your phone. They are Target store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with. Load coupons here. You can also print these offers by going to www.target.com/save and entering your phone number.
Remember too that you get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use!
Over at Kmart, the big big news of the week is that their double coupon promotion is back! Running 7/25 through 7/31 at these stores, here’s the scoop:
- You must have a Kmart Rewards card to participate. If you don’t have one, you can sign up online or fill out a form in the store.
- Five coupons will be doubled per customer/card, per day.
- Coupons with a face value of up to and including .99 will be doubled (which, really, is stupid, as Kmart knows perfectly well that there are no .99 coupons.) The best you can hope for here are .75 doubles to $1.50.) You do NOT get coupon overage with doubling as the store is matching the coupon’s value up TO the purchase price, but not over. Coupons with a face value of $2.50 or $3 or more ring at FACE VALUE ONLY.
Honestly, I’m completely un-wowed by this and think it’s a pretty weak promo on Kmart’s part. With so much else going on this week, I’m sitting this one out…
Drugstore Deals
My beloved Twizzlers are cheap here too. They’re on sale for $1.50 a bag. When you buy 2, you’ll get $2 back in Register Rewards! So, with no coupons, that’s .50 a bag.
Want another cheap bag, easily? Buy 3, use the $1-off-3 coupon from 6/27 SS, pay $3.50 and get $2 back – $1.50 for 3 is also .50 a bag, but you get 3 in the same trip through the lane…
Cheap school supplies at Wags:
.09 2-pocket prong folders, limit 5
Crayola colored pencil 12-pack – .99 with coupon in ad, limit 5
Penway crayons are .39 a box
Rulers, protractors, pencil and index card cases or plastic portfolios are .39
Elmers’ glue is .59 a bottle, and 2-packs of Elmer’s glue sticks are .59 too
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Gillette Fusion ProGlide razors are on sale yet AGAIN in a Register Rewards deal… on sale for $9.89, you’ll get $5 back in RRs when you buy one. Use the $4 coupon from 6/6 PG, pay $5.89 and get $5 back! Enjoy that .89 “expensive” razor!
U By Kotex is free again! Kotex liners, pads or tampons are on sale for $4.99. Pay $4.99 and get $4.99 back in Extra Care Bucks, making these FREE! Make it a moneymaker with a coupon… Print this $1 coupon, pay $3.99 and get $4.99 back! Note that this printable resets once a month, so if you’ve printed it in the past, you may be able to print again!
This offer is limit 1 per household with card.
Diaper deal! Just a few weeks ago we saw a great deal on the big boxes of Huggies at CVS. Now, Pampers gets in the game. Big boxes (82ct or slightly more or less, depending on sizes) of Pampers are $21.99. When you buy one, you’ll get $10 back in Extra Care Bucks! Use coupons to make this better… 7/4 PG has $2 off Cruisers or Swaddlers, as well as $1.50 off Baby-Dry (basic) diapers, and 6/20 RP also has a $2 off Cruisers coupon. With coupon, pay $19.99 and get $10 back — that knocks the big box to $9.99, half price!
This offer is limit one per household with card.
CVS is also running a “Spend $20, get $10” sale on selected Aveeno products. Honestly, not many of these are jumping out at me as great, as there aren’t too many coupons available to work in. If you like Aveeno products, the Active Natural shampoos, conditioners and stylers are $6.49. 6/20 SS has $1 and $2 coupons for Active Naturals. The trouble is, buying 3 haircares puts you at $19.47, just shy of $20. I played with this one for a while and just couldn’t come up with a super scenario for very little out of pocket.
Here’s one option though. If you like their moisturizer, it’s $14.99 – adding it to a $6.49 shampoo puts you at $21.48 – minus $2 shampoo coupon, pay $19.48 and get $10 back. There’s also a $5 coupon for the sunblock here. About the best you may do here…
Deals continuing from previous weeks
The Neutrogena Sunscreen deal is back! Neutrogena sunscreen is $9.99 a bottle. Buy 2 and get $10 back in ECBs! Let’s make this deal better with coupons… print two $2 coupons for Neutrogena sunscreen. Pay $15.98 for 2 and get $10 back! That knocks it down to $2.99 a bottle…
6/13 SS has a $1 coupon too, but the deal’s better with the $2 coupons.
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the price scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I got an email coupon from Jewel for $1.00 of regular price vanity fair napkins or paper plates. This works on sale prices. The plates are not on sale but all of the napkins are 2/$4.00. I bought the 100pk. napkins for $1.00 after coupon (I couldn’t find any manu coupons). It’s not free but cheap.
kay9pets says
There were a bunch of man. coupons in the Jewel ad for July 1. One of them was for $1 off Dixie plates. Also there is a coupon for $1/2 Kraft cheese. This coupon is good for chunks or shredded. The coupon from ‘Add Dairy’ is only for shredded cheese.

The pampers deal at CVS says limit one but actually has a limit of two. I did this deal once and my recipt didnt have the limit reached message so i tried again rolling my 10 EBC from the first pack and paid about $4.20 for my second pack. I didnt have any of the $2 papmers coupons so if you do this you can cut your price by another $2 with the 7-4 P&G coupon!

I’ve never heard of this.
If I buy ANY $10 of Kellogg’s cereal (pre coupon), I’ll get a Catalina for $10 off ANY 3 packs of Fruit of the Loom socks???? Really??

is “when you buy $30.00 in participating P&G products in a single transaction”. Kinda makes it a little more difficult. :(

If you received the mailer from Vocalpoint about a month ago with three $2 coupons for Crystal Light Pure Fitness, someone wrote to tell me Wal-Mart carries this for $1.97. I used mine last week, but if you missed the Meijer sale (where they were also $2) this would be an option to use them up and get it free. :) I also didn’t note the expiration date before I used mine — if someone still has theirs, post what it is and I’ll add it to the coupons for free stuff area of the Deals. Thanks!

Yesterday I went in for the Pampers and 2 Dean’s Milk (CVS had emailed me a $5 off $25 so I wanted to hit the $25 mark) and I did NOT get the ECB for the milk. But, as someone else posted, the Pampers did NOT say limit reached, so it appears as though you can do it twice.

Just noticed this when I followed your link to Totally Target. Apparently coupons.com has a $1/2 printable with zip 90210.

If you are planning to use the $2 produce coupon for a seedless watermelon ($3.50), look for a stand nearby the watermelons with Minute Maid Lemonade…The 2 liters all had coupons on them for a free 2 liter when you buy a watermelon. Seedless watermelon and lemonade for $1.50! Great afternoon snack : )

I’m in the Crystal Lake/Cary area and can’t seem to find any of the booklets at either Jewel or Dominicks. Can anyone around here point me to their location in the stores? I’m talking about the Add Dairy to your summer type booklets that Jill has been alerting to us (although I do realize that some of these are now expired booklets).
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for posting all the deals!

I just got back from Jewel in Hickory Hills where they would NOT take my coupons for Free bread and $2 off produce. They showed me a memo they got from corporate today saying that the only Jewel coupon they will accept is the new one for free bakery item with $10 purchase (which I didn’t have with me of course).
I think all of the “Jewel isn’t KMart” praise may have jinxed it… or.. I am just really unlucky.
Anyone else feel embarrassed when a coupon gets rejected?? I hate that feeling!!
StampinJewels says
In the current Jewel flyer – there is a coupon for the huge milk carton (33.5 oz)of Goldfish Crackers with the end price being 2/$9 -= $4.50 each. I thought the Wal-Mart price would be about the same but I was wrong! Wal-Mart’s price is $6.94 – so I think this is an awesome deal at Jewel with the coupon!
This has been the Summer of lots of kids hanging out at our house – so I am always looking for the slightly better snack to offer them. I got the whole grain variety, and hop to go back for more getting a flyer from the store itself for the coupon.

My mom gave me her coupon postcard that was mailed sometime last month. The bottom middle area has a $1/1 Lay’s potato chip 10.5-11 oz. coupon (Limit one) that will give you overage when you combine with the other coupons Jill listed. The bar code has a different number, so you should be able to use the 2 Doms coupons for one bag of chips like you’re supposed to be able to use the 2 Doms coupons for the frozen chicken breasts. Hope this helps!

When I went to pull my coupons for this deal:
Classico Pasta Sauces are $1.49, limit 6, with Super Coupon. With this coupon, you’ll pay $1.48 for 2, or .74 a jar
….what I saw was $1.50 off a jar. I happened to have a fabulous co-worker who gives me her pull-outs, so I had two – I can get two jars for FREE and get $1.50 off the beef! WOOHOO!

Jill – I am curious as to how you can use three beef coupons on one beef item. You mentioned using three 1.50/Beef coupons when purchasing the six jars of Classico pasta sauce. If one of these coupons attaches to the beef, don’t the other two beep at the register?

Just came back from two Jewels…McHenry and Fox Lake. Both took my coupons. The watermelon is wonderful and you get a free 2 liter Minutemaid w/ purchase.

When I was at Doms yesterday, I found some of the Four Cheese alfredo sauces have those oval shaped peelies on them advertising recipes and savings. When I looked at home, I was happy to see that there is a $1/1 on any 24 oz. sauce coupon. While that excludes the alfredo sauces that are smaller, this DOES include the red sauces that are currently on sale for $1.49. (This is a little better than the Jewel ad $1.50/2 coupon by .50) Combine that with the 3/14 SS $1.50 meat coupon and you can clean up!
Please, PLEASE don’t just rip the peelies off and not buy the jar first. Thanks. : )

I went to Target today, and found Chef Boyardee at a price of $.92 per can. The small microwaveable cups are on sale for $.80. I had 2 $1 Target coupons for 2 of the cans, and found peelies for a free whole grain can when you buy 3 cans. I also had a manufacturer coupon for $1.50 off 4 cans. I bought 3 cans, got the one free, and the MFR coupon only rang up at $.99. I didn’t understand how Target takes coupons off, and asked the cashier to explain it to me. She could explain everything except the Chef Boyardee, so a manager came over and looked at it, walked to a different register and took a $1 bill out of it and gave that to me. I said “it isn’t $1 difference”, and he said, “I didn’t want to give you change, don’t worry about it.” I left feeling stupid for haggling over $.51, stupid for not figuring out that it was only $.51, and angry at the manager who obviously thought I was cheap to be arguing over $.51. Did I do something wrong?
PS Look for peelies on Chef Boyardee cans.

Can someone please tell me if the $10 minimum purchase required at Dominick’s to use the $1.49 Classico Supercoupon, calculated before or after any coupons? Thanks.

I rushed through Dom’s with my husband and did not see the Red Baron pan pizza tagged for the $3.99/$2.99 sale. Has anyone done the pan pizza using the $1.50 Q yet? (I did get 2 of the regular Red Barons (with 3 Edward’s pies) but want to go back to do 5 PAN pizzas since the Q is better for that.) Maybe they just didn’t have everything marked yet.
Thanks for any replies!

Went to Dom’s yesterday and tried to use Oreida and Classico Q’s. Cashier stated that if they would not scan she couldn’t accept them. Needless to say-my deal went sour. I guess I win lots and lose some!! :) Has anyone had the same experience with these Q’s not being accepted?

Just came from the DeKalb Jewel where I found Dr. Pepper 2-liters on sale for .79. Many of the bottles had .55 off peelies which makes for pretty cheap Dr. Pepper. All varieties were included.

I tried the link to the baby basics coupon – sent me to the baby basics website as usual, but no coupon link was there anymore. I thought this had been reset to a $4/$8 coupon but I guess there is no coupon now? In the past the link has always been there, just telling me I have printed my limit when I try to print… might want to check that link – FYI :o)
