Hope everyone had a fantastic 4th of July weekend! We had a great backyard barbecue and grilled out with free charcoal, ate cheap burgers and meats, and drank bargain beverages too!
If this week’s sales seem underwhelming, don’t worry – this is typical for post-holiday weeks. In fact, most post-holidays we get NO coupon inserts in the paper (again, because people typically don’t shop much the week after a holiday – they’re eating leftovers from their weekend get-togethers. The P&G insert was a nice bonus this week because it always comes out the first week of the month.
So despite the lean flyers for our favorite stores, there are still some deals to be had! Let’s get to it…
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday. And, if you’re new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing website for a list of FREE coupon classes and instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!
Starting off at Kmart, their Super Doubles promotion is back once again! They are doubling up to and including $2 coupons again this week (through Saturday) – limit 10 coupons per day, and your pre-coupon total must be over $25 of grocery and/or drugstore items (making it a little trickier, aren’t they…)
I started working on a matchup list for you guys, but once again spotted an excellent one at the Abundant Food Savings blog. So if you’re interested in playing the doubles game, head over and check out some of the matchups. Note that there are some good Catalina deals running at Kmart this week too.
Over at Jewel, there are a few cheapies this week…
Pert Plus shampoo for men is $1.99. With the $1.50 coupon from 6/28 SS, it’s just .49!
Kotex pantiliners are $1, and with the .75 coupon from 6/14 SS, they’re a quarter!
Kraft South Beach Salad Dressing could be a moneymaker too… it’s $1.99, and Avenu offers $1 off. Stack this with the $1 off any Kraft salad dressing from 6/21 SS, and you’ll get a FREE bottle of salad dressing with a penny overage!
Now, some stores have blinkies for $1.50 off Kraft salad dressing in the aisle. With $2.50 in stacked coupon value on a $1.99 item, your store will essentially pay you .51 to take this home! Note that the Avenu limit is 2 per transaction, and you will need to buy something else to use up that .51 in overage — you will not get it back in cash, but it will come off the other items you’re purchasing in the same trip.
And… Cheap School Supplies Alert (and I’ll be posting these whenever I see them, because we’re at the beginning of many school supply deals to come…) – 1 subject spiral notebooks are .13 each, and 2-pocket Oxford folders are .10 each at Jewel this week.
While we’re on the topic of cheap school supplies, over at Wal-Mart, Crayola 24-count crayons are just .30 a box, and 4-ounce Elmer’s School Glue is just .30 a bottle through 7/11!
Heading over to Dominick’s, those of you have been waiting for a good toilet paper and paper towel deal will be happy this week! If you like Tide detergent or Glad trash bags, you’ll want to hit this one too. Read on…
Dominick’s has a “Clean Up and Save Big” promo going on all kinds of things (back page of Sunday’s ad.) When you buy 3 or more participating items, each item goes to $4.99 each.
Your best bets here are:
Charmin 12-roll toilet paper (12=24 double roll)
6/7 PG and 7/5 PG – .25 off
PG $120 Year of Savings has $1 coupon
Bounty 6-roll paper towels (6=8 25% bigger rolls)
6/7 PG and 7/5 PG – .25 off
PG $120 Year of Savings has $1 coupon
Tide 32-load
7/5 PG – $1 off
PG $120 Year of Savings has $1 coupon
Glad trash bags
$1 off 1
www.pgesaver.com also has the following coupons you can load to your Fresh Values card:
.25 off Charmin
.25 off Bounty
.35 off Tide
If you did a run of 1 Charmin, 1 Bounty and 1 Tide, you would be at $14.97. Minus 3 insert coupons, $13.47. Minus PGEsaver coupons, $12.62. That works out to about $4.20 each.
OR, if you have the higher-value coupons from the book, minus three $1 coupons, $11.97. Minus PGEsaver coupons, $11.12. That works out to about $3.70 each… which is cheaper than we’ve seen for these things in a very long time :)
Quilted Northern is also a pretty good deal too. The Charmin’s a little cheaper with the PGEsaver discount, but the Quilted Northen toilet paper is also a 12 roll (12=24 double roll) pack, and with a $1 coupon from 4/26 RP, 1/28 RP, or 9/21/08 RP, it’s $3.99 with this deal.
The 120-count Bounce fabric softener sheets are in this too – with a .25 coupon from 3/1 PG, 2/8 PG, or 12/28 PG (and others – these appear frequently in old inserts) stacked with the ..50 coupon from PGEsaver, they work out to $4.24 for the big box.
Not free… but very good prices for stocking up :)
Over at Meijer, Ronzoni SmartTaste pasta is FREE! It’s on sale for $1, and with the $1 coupon from 4/5 SS, you pay nothing but tax, baby! For those of you that get a crazy amount of duplicate inserts, note too that the Ronzoni is part of Meijer’s current “Buy 10, get the 11th free” promo. If you have 10 Ronzoni coupons (or mix and match with other items in the deal) you could get 11 for free…
Now, Meijer Mealbox also has a $1 off 2 coupon that you can stack with this. You may get overage (remember, overage is a privilege, not a right!) but if you’re buying other stuff too, that overage may apply and bring your end total down even more by .50 per box…
You can also mix some of these other goodies/cheapies in the 10/11 deal if you want to involve more items…
Chi-Chi’s Salsa: It’s $1 before the deal. With the .55 coupon from 5/17 SS, it’s just .45, and it also counts toward your 10/11…
Hormel Pepperoni: Also $1 before the deal. With the .55 coupon from 6/21 SS, it’s just .45 and also counts to the 10/11.
Here’s a sweet unadvertised Catalina deal on salad and beef! Buy any 2 Dole bagged salads and one NatureWell beef product (meat dept.) at Meijer and get a $3 Catalina for your next shopping trip. If you buy ground beef that’s priced around $3, it will essentially be free when you buy 2 salads … even without coupons! This is supposed to run through 7/11, so my Indiana/Michigan readers could try it too.
Other cheapies at Meijer this week:
Heluva Good (dip for chips): It’s $1.19. Stack the .25 Mealbox coupon with the .75 coupon here and you’ll pay just .19!
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes. This is why I don’t blog too many Meijer deals…
Over at Walgreens, Goody Ouchless Flex headbands are $3.99 with a $3.99 mail-in rebate. You can pull your hair back in style for the cost of a stamp…
There is a Register Reward deal running on 500ml Listerine – buy 3 and get $3 in RRs. Listerine is $3.49 a bottle. 4/29 RP has $2 off Listerine, and you can print two $2 coupons and two $1 coupons from this link too (note that you need to enter zip code 85001 in the pop-up box to get the $2 coupon – it’s a regional special.)
With 3 $2 coupons, buy 3 bottles, pay $4.47 and get $3 back in RRs. 3 bottles of Listerine for $1.47! That’s less than .50 a bottle.
With two $2 coupons and one $1 coupon, pay $5.57 and get $3 back… still not bad.
… and other than that… not much to report for Wags. (Again, it’s that post-holiday thing.)
Heading to CVS, the deal of the week is on Febreze products (and get ready to get rainchecks, as I have yet to find this stuff on the shelves..!) Febreze Noticeables ($6.50), Air Effects ($3) and Fabric sprays ($5) are all involved in a big ECB deal. Spend $10 and get $5 back. You can do this deal up to 5 times (spending $50 and getting $25 back.) Depending on how many insert coupons you have, these things will be free or very cheap, because the 7/5 PG has…
$4 off Noticeables
Free Air Effects when you buy Fabric refresher spray
If you have one insert, buying one of each will cost you $7.50 after coupons, and you’ll get $5 back in ECBS… plus, you’ll have $4.50 on your card toward the next $10 spent on Febreze.
If you have 2 inserts, you could do this:
Buy 2 Febreze Noticeables ($13), 1 Air Effects ($3) and 1 Fabric spray ($5)
Use two $4 Noticeables coupons
Use 1 free Air Effects when you buy Fabric spray
Pay $10 and get $10 back in ECBS… ALL free!
Another quick freebie: CVS-brand pantiliners are free after Extra Care Bucks! Pay .89 and get .89 back in Extra Care bucks…
FREE stuff:
FREE Yoplait Whips yogurt coupon
FREE single M&M/Mars chocolate (every Friday through September, 2009.)
FREE tiny lunch. Print this coupon for a free original Slider (burger) at White Castle
FREE coupons that are still current:
4/26 SS – FREE box Purina Kitten Chow (expires 7/26/09)

Meijer’s mealbox also has a $1 off 2 Ronzoni Smart Taste. Does that give overage?

I just went to the link in your blog and changed the zip code but I still only got $1 coupons. I want the $2 coupons. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Where did you see the notebooks and folders on sale at Jewel? I didn’t see in either ad I have! My real question is: Is there a limit on these? And is it only on sale until Wed?
Thanks!

The ECB was printing as .99 on Sunday-don’t know if it still is but could be a .10 MM!

Has anyone done this deal with the B3G1 Q and the catalina at Jewel? Is it a good deal or should I wait to buy?
Ruby Red says
Over at Meijer, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter is 3/$4. Buy 1 at $1.34, use $1.25 coupon (from 6/28 SS I believe) and it comes to 9 cents. Not bad for a 15 oz. tub of butter!

Anyone else not have those Helava dip coupons? I have both inserts and it is not in either one. Also, my Hormel coupon is only .55. Why, coupon gods, Why? =)

Will Meijer take a coupon on the free 11th item?

I stopped at both Algonquin Jewels this afternoon, and saw nothing in the school supply aisle for 13 cents. Plenty of 10/$10 and up, but nothing this cheap. Any one else find these anywhere?

if i download the pgesavers coupons to my card, how many times can I do the deal? I would assume only once or do they allow me to use the “downloaded” coupon more then once?

I went to Walgreens with my Listerine coupons and did not see the Listerine that gives you the $3.00 RR. It was not in the paper either. The cashier did not know what I was talking about.
Beachlover says
I had a wonderful experience at Walgreens today that I just had to share. I had 4 RR’s that were going to expire if I didn’t use them today. Unfortunately it is not a great week to shop Wags but nevertheless I had to go. I decided to buy 4 – 200 count Kleenex which was not a bad deal using the store coupon and some Pecan Sandies which are buy 4 for $10 and get a $5 RR back. I had manu. coupons for the cookies and I then used up my RRs. When I finished my transaction I owed under $2.00 (which is good but not as great as I usually do at Wags). The clerk checking me out practically broke out in a cheer for me and the awesome deal that I just got. She was so enthusiastic and friendly. She told me that my husband better take me out to dinner because my receipt showed that I had saved over $31 and my hard work couponing proved I needed a night out. Don’t you all wish that EVERY CLERK could be this nice and positive toward couponing???

The ICBINB coupon wasn’t in the SS, it was the RP insert.

I went to a nearby Walgreen’s and didn’t see a sign but thought I’d give it a try anyway. Each one rang up as 4.99. Is it a specific flavor that works? I found 3-500 mL, but it was the purple – Total Care ones… not sure if it makes a difference?

I went to Target in Algonquin last night, and was told that they are no longer accepting coupons worth more than the product. I tried to buy Tide single load packs for 97cents and use $1 coupon, and Johnson’s Buddies soaps for 97 cents and a $1Q. No luck! The cashier told me that she had gotten in trouble for accepting these coupons last week and that they would no longer take them. She said they are especially cracking down on coupon use with travel sized items.
I didn’t argue since my boys and husband were with me, just asked her to remove those items from my total since I was only getting them since they would be free after coupons. I don’t know why these things always happen when my hubby is with me….then he wonders if it’s all worth the hassle. My answer…YES!
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has heard this?
