Ready for a week of GREAT deals? If nothing else, you should be taking home as much cheap ice cream this week as you can store :)
A big welcome to this week’s new Super-Couponers from Skokie and Bloomingdale!
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday. And, if you’re new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing website for a list of FREE coupon classes and instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!
Starting off at Jewel, their “Spend $25, get $10” sale on Unilever, General Mills and Coke products may have you wanting to just camp out in the checkout lane and stock up on a crazy amount of stuff. Many items are included in the sale – check this week’s ad for an overview.

Now, my black belt couponers know that these deals typically work differently at Jewel than at any other store.
VERY IMPORTANT: If you have never done a high-level Catalina deal at Jewel before, please read this short overview of the way the price structure works. In a nutshell, if you base your $25 on the non-Preferred prices, you can save even more money and spend less out of pocket. It is entirely up to you if you would like to work the deal in this way, but understand that IF you do, and the Catalina does not print, you can NOT go to the service counter and ask/demand that they reimburse you. You are working this sale in a different way than the ad specifies, and you’re on your own if you choose to do this.
HCW has a spreadsheet of the items in the deal, if you’re a spreadsheet person — there are additional items in the spreadsheet that aren’t listed in the ad. Remember, if you buy these and don’t get your Catalina, again, you cannot go to the service counter and ask them to make it right. These are NOT in the ad, but are working:
Hellman’s Mayonnaise
5/17 RP – .60 off
UPCs and sizes: CHECK SPREADSHEET above for listing
Suave lotions, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and deodorants:
3/29 RP – $1 off 2 shampoo
3/29 RP – .75 off 1 deodorant
5/17 RP – $1 off 2 haircare
5/17 RP – .50 off 1 haircare for men
5/17 RP – .75 off deodorant
5/17 RP – $1 off 2 body wash
ONLY CERTAIN UPCs and sizes: CHECK SPREADSHEET above for listing
Lipton Iced Tea mixes, Lipton to Go, and other Lipton products
5/17 RP – .60 off 1
UPCs and sizes: CHECK SPREADSHEET above for listing
Other notes: The Nestea RED tea is NOT working for the deal, even though it is in the Jewel ad. You will not get your Catalina if you buy it, so avoid it. Some varieties of Snuggle fabric softener (orange is one of them) are also NOT included – tread carefully if you want to try Snuggle.
Now, if you’ve done these high-level Jewel deals before, you know that they typically work off the non-Preferred price of the items. We will use the non-Preferred price to count up to $25, but we pay the Preferred price. Again, if you have never done a deal like this before, please read this short overview of the way the price structure works before you ask any questions.
You can mix and match any items in the list to get to $25. It’s important to remember that the shelf/sale prices vary at EVERY store. Blog reader Grandmahaha made a list of the prices at her store, which are good guidelines to use when planning your trips… but ALWAYS verify prices at YOUR store before purchasing:
Chex Bars 3.45
Fiber One Bars 3.65
Chex Mix 2.65
Wish Bone 2.45
Breyer 6.50
All 6.45
Bisquik 2.45
Nestea 6.79
ICBINB, Promise, B & B 2.99
Bertolli 3.95
Fruit Snax 2.75
Suddenly Salad 2.25
Brownie Mix 2.25
Cake Mix 1.45
Vitamin water 1.68
Skippy 3.25
Cheerios 3.75
Total 3.85
So what does this mean for us as shoppers? Provided that your store’s prices are close to these (if they are LESS, you will need to add more items to get to the $25 mark), you can do any of the following scenarios:
EASIEST Breyer’s ice cream deal:
Buy any 4 Breyer’s 1.5qt (half gallon) ice cream tubs.
Use $2/1 coupon from 5/17 RP.
Pay $11 and get $10 Catalina back. $1 for 4 tubs of ice cream!
If you get multiple inserts, use 2 coupons, pay $10, get $10 – FREE ice cream.
With no coupons at all, buy 4, pay $12, get $10 back. Works out to .50 each!
CHEAP Klondike Bars deal
Buy 5 boxes of Klondike bars
Pay $15.00 and get $10 back. 5 boxes for $5 ($1 a box – 6-8 bars in a box!)
FREE Cheerios deal:
Buy 7 boxes of Cheerios
Use 2 $1 coupons, one $1/2 coupon, and one 1/$3 coupon
Pay $10 and get $10 back. FREE Cheerios!
CHEAP Bertollis deal:
Buy 7 Bertolli pasta sauce
Use $1 and .60 coupon posted above
Pay $12.40 and get $10 back. 7 sauces for $2.40 (about .34 each!)
CHEAP Chex Mix deal
Buy 10 bags of Chex Mix (at some stores you will need 11 – CHECK PRICES)
With 2 .50 printables and 1 .50 insert coupon
Pay $15.10 and get $10 back. 10 bags (not single size, the bigger ones) of Chex mix for $5.10 (.51 each!)
CHEAP All laundry detergent deal
Buy 4 All Small and Mighty
Use 2 $1 printables and the $1/2 noted above
Pay $15 and get $10 back. 4 bottles of ALL for $5 ($1.25 each!)
There are over 200 posts in the Forum discussing this sale – check it out for more scenarios!
As if that weren’t enough at Jewel, there is also a $25/$10 going on ConAgra foods (AGAIN!) And guess what… you can do one round of ConAgra AND one round of Unilever/GM/Coke in the same transaction, and you will get two $10 Cats back, one for each deal. This one runs through 6/24, and I’ll delve into it in even more depth next week, but here’s a quickie list of your best bets.
Again, this deal assumes $25 on NON-Preferred prices. If you aren’t comfortable doing these deals in this way, know that you cannot complain to the store if the Catalina doesn’t print for some reason.
Here are some of the best deals with the ConAgra sale… VERIFY PRICES AT YOUR STORE to make sure quantities are correct!
Wesson Oil deal
Buy 5 bottles of Wesson Oil (48 oz.)
Pay $12.50 and get $10 back. 5 bottles of cooking oil for $2.50!
Snack Pack pudding deal
Buy 13 Snack Pack pudding cup 4-packs (SOME STORES will need 14!!! Check.)
May All You has a $1 off 3 coupon
Recent ConAgra coupon mailer also has $1 off 3
With coupon, pay $12 and get $10 back. 13 puddings for $2!
Without coupon, pay $13 and get $10 back… still a deal!
Hunt’s Ketchup deal
Buy 13 Hunt’s Ketchup
5/10 SS has .20 off, May All You has $1 off 2
Pay $11.80 and get $10 back. 13 bottles of ketchup for $1.80!
(If you registered for the free ConAgra coupon book last month, use that coupon for a FREE bottle of Hunt’s here too and pay even less!)
Hunt’s diced tomatoes are also a great deal again if you need them… 14 cans will cost you $14 and you’ll get $10 back.
REMEMBER to verify all prices/quantities for YOUR Jewel!
Still not tired of Jewel this week? (How could we be? This is why Jewel is my FAVORITE store!) Enjoy this Edge Shaving Gel moneymaker too! It’s on sale B1G1F for $2.99. Jewel’s Avenu takes .60 off each can (make sure to activate discounts with link under Coupon Tools.) Print 2 $1 coupons for Edge.
Buy 2, both will be free… and you’ll get .21 in overage to apply to whatever deal you’re doing above. Have fun!
If you still aren’t tired of shopping after the craziness going on at Jewel this week, over at Dominick’s, their Buy 10, Save $5 mix and match continues through Wednesday, 6/17. You can buy any 10 items, and $5 will automatically be deducted at the end. Buy 20 and $10 comes off, and so on.
Keep in mind you must buy in quantities of 10 to get the prices noted here! But it’s easy to do with the good prices on some of these…
(And remember, these prices assume you are buying in quantities of 10 items, mix and match:)
Mott’s Apple Juice: $1.49
8/10/08 SS – $1 off 2 = .99 for TWO
DelMonte Fruit Naturals fruit cups: .75
$1 off 2 – buy TWO for .50, or a quarter each
CapriSun: $1.49
4/19 SS – $1 off = .49
Hefty Storage Bags: $1.50
Use $1 coupons from 5/17 RP or $1 blinkies (found at some Dominick’s and almost all Jewels) = .50
Peter Pan peanut butter – $1.99
5/3 SS – $1 off = .99
Recent ConAgra coupon mailer: $1 off
Listerine mouthwash – $2.99
3/15 SS, 4/26 RP = $2 off = .99
Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts 12ct – $1.99
6/7 RP – .55 off = $1.44
Nabisco crackers: $1.99
5/17 SS Buy Ritz, get Wheat Thins free
Hot Pockets or Lean Pockets – $1.49
5/17 SS, 9/28/08 RP – $1 off 2 = $1.98 for 2, or .99 each
5/17 SS, 9/28/08 RP – .50 off = .99
2/1 SS $2 off 5 = $5.45 for 5, or $1.09 each
Gorton’s Shrimp Bowls – $2.49
March All You* – $1 = $1.49
As is typical with these sales, there are MANY more items in the sale than are in the ad. HCW has a list of all the items if you’re a spreadsheet person and like doing your own matchups! And, MAKE SURE each product you choose has an orange shelf tag identifying it as being in the deal. Dominick’s does change the products as the sale goes on, and some things do get dropped and added.
Remember that Dominick’s accepts expired coupons up to 1 year old too, so I’ve noted expireds where they match to this sale. If you like doing matchups on your own, you can use Hot Coupon World’s expired database to find more matches.
* Have you heard of All You? All You is a coupon-filled magazine! It sells for $2.49 an issue at Walmart (they have an exclusive newsstand distribution for it) or you can subscribe online for less. It’s a very nice magazine, but truthfully, I rarely get around to reading it… because I’m getting it for the coupons! The current issue has over $110 worth of coupons inside — really! And, it has an alphabetical index of all the products, coupons, values, and pages they appear on. Yep, what’s not to love about that? So, when deals feature All You coupons, I post them here too :)
If you’re a fan of electronic coupons, you probably know that you can add coupons from www.PGeSaver.com to your Dominick’s card and stack with these. Dominick’s has also partnered with www.shortcuts.com and www.cellfire.com as well! Just register on both sites with your Fresh Values card number. The discounts will automatically be applied if you buy the items shown on either site. (Note that if a coupon appears on both sites, you do only get ONE per transaction. And, unlike Jewel’s Avenu, once you use a discount, it disappears from your card.)
The best stacking deal this week with ShortCuts? Pedigree Dentastix dog treats. Blog reader sjw1314 noted that they’re on sale for $3.99. Add the $2.50 electronic coupon from ShortCuts to your card, and stack this with the $2.50 coupon from 4/19 RP, and you’ll be getting $5 in coupon value on a $3.99 item… resulting in FREE dog treats and $1.01 overage to apply to everything else you’re buying! Even if you don’t have a dog, this is a good deal… and you can always pass those treats on to someone who does, or donate them to your food pantry (most pantries take pet supplies too!) Here’s my receipt to show you how these electronic coupons look as they ring up:
Continuing this week at Dominick’s again too… Wacky Mac pasta is .99 a bag. Use the .75 coupon from 5/10 SS and take this home for .24!
Over at Walgreens, St. Ives Bodywash is a moneymaker! Buy one for $2.99 and get $2.99 back in Register Rewards, making it FREE. Use the $1.50 coupon from 5/10 SS (if you didn’t already use it to get free lotion at Target!) and make money on this deal!
At CVS, Crest Toothpaste is cheap! Crest Pro Health is $2.99. Buy it and get $2 back in Extra Care Bucks. Use the .50 coupon from 6/7 PG and take it home for just .49!
As has been the case for the past few weeks now (whenever I have great coupons to give away!) a special thanks again to my forum members who posted and alerted me to super deals this week! To bluedemon20, grandmahaha, and couponclipper, I want to reward you with some great, high-value coupons for posting the deals you found! Your coupons are already on their way to you, as they’re Unilever products, and I’m thinking you need them sooner than later since the sale ends Wednesday :)
Also, please note that as much as I’d like to, I cannot send coupons in the postal mail to everyone. Occasionally I receive coupons to give away in my classes, and I’ve been sending some of those to blog readers when they post great deals too. When these coupons are gone, they’re gone — but I simply cannot send coupons to the hundreds of coupon requests I’ve been getting since I started this. If you come to a class, though, you can pick some up afterward… while supplies last!
FREE stuff:
$3 off 3 Johnson & Johnson products … Of course, you know my favorite things to get with these coupons are three $1 bars of Johnson’s Buddies baby soaps! FREE soap is good, even if you don’t have a baby in the house :) They’re $1 at Target, Wal-Mart and other places.
FREE Home Made Simple coupon book Register for a free book of coupons – high-value coupons for P&G products, and these books contain a coupon for a FREE bottle of Cascade Crystal Clear too.
FREE single M&M/Mars chocolate (every Friday through September, 2009.)
FREE bottle of Country Bob’s barbecue sauce
FREE tiny lunch. Print this coupon for a free pulled pork sandwich at White Castle!
B1G1F entrees at TGI Fridays through 6/22
FREE coupons that are still current:
5/17 SS – FREE Marcal Small Steps any single roll bath tissue, single roll paper towel or box of facial tissue (expires 6/30/09)
4/26 SS – FREE box Purina Kitten Chow (expires 7/26/09)

Anyone else having problems finding some of the coupons on coupons.com or bettycrocker.com?
Specifically, the suddenly salad, frosting, chex mix. I can’t seem to find any of those on either site!

used the following coupon with this sale: Buy any two Skippy Peanut Butter Products (15oz or larger) and get FREE bread (up to $2)?

works for storing additional frozen pizzas, what about ICE CREAM, LOL?
MerNewQFreek says
I know you advised new b’s to maybe lay low on this deal but I have question for the future. Can we not add more coupons to each deal or will this mess the Cat. up? Like if I were to buy 10 Chex Mix ‘s could I not use 6 .50/1 and 2 .50/2?
parsh5 says
Has anyone bought any Suave Shampoo or Conditioner with this deal? I was wondering what their shelf and preferred price spread is. My sister uses these products and I am not familiar with their pricing. I thought maybe I would get some for her if they are a good deal. I know I need to scan them at my own store, but just wanted to get an idea of how many products I need to buy to get the $25 in order to clip coupons. Thanks!
NicGee says
I just want to verifiy with you blackbelts out there. I have coupons for buy 2 ICBNB get 1 free and a buy 2 ragu, get 1 free (I got them from Jill for posting a hot deal a couple weeks ago). This will apply the price of three of each item to my $25 requirement, right? I am thinking it should but am just a bit nervous and want to verify. Thanks ladies!
Love your coupon tips says
I was just wondering if anyone happens to know what the price is for Hellman’s Mayo? I’m trying to plan a deal sitting here at home, but forgot to check the price of it last time I was at Jewel. Thanks!

I tries to use my Edge coupons at the Jewel Store on Eola in Aurora and was told by the manager that Jewel on longer takes expired coupons OR internet coupons. She said it’s all because one person was using multiple coupons that were scanned. I asked if this was at all the jewel store or just this one and was told all the Jewel stores. Can some one try to verify this?

catvoci says
The cashier called the manger over to be sure of the internet coupons and SHE was the one that said it was their new policy that started the same day they stopped taking expired coupons and that if any cashiers take the internet coupons, they shouldn’t be.
I would just like to be able to verify all this.
glamorousmunky says
you need 14 puddings to make the Cat work. They are ringing up $1.90. Worked great this morning and I checked out in the self check with no problems. Jeanne (the CS) was even asking me how many items she needed to purchase to make the deals work and where to get coupons. I gave her this website before I left.
Beth says
I started to sign up for Cellfire last week, but stopped when they asked for my cell number. I don’t have texting activated on my cell phone because I don’t want to pay for the service. So, are they going to try to use my cell number for more than just an account number? Does anyone get telemarketers calling as a result of setting up a cellfire account? Just wondering before I jump in. Thanks!
Coupon Maven says
The Thursday ad advertising the ConAgra deal lists it as a “Spend $20, get $10” but the shelf tags say “Spend $25.” The ad is a misprint. STICK TO $25! I’m hearing from lots of my blog readers today that they’ve been off by one pudding pack or one can of Hunt’s and not gotten the cat – their numbers had them over $20 but just a tad under $25.
Just a heads-up in case you’re thinking of experimenting on spending even less — it does not work. The deal is still incredibly sweet as it is.
SuperSavingMommyof2 says
If you didn’t use your Ken’s $1/1 coupon 5/3 SS last week, you can get FREE 8oz. Ken’s Healthy Options Dressings this week at Meijer. They are part of the 10 for 10, get the 11th free deal. I had 11 coupons, so I was able to take home 11 bottles of dressing and 1 bottle Hunt’s Ketchup for $0.19. They also have Angel Soft as part of this deal and if you still have the .50/1 from the 4/19 RP, you can take them home for $0.50.
gmazzocchi says
Has anyone “braved” adding Snuggle to one of the Unilever/GM/Coke deals? I know from what Jill said, the orange one is a misprint in the ad and isn’t working. Just curious to see if anyone has had luck with it and if so, which one worked.
krysnbrad says
I have a question about the Breyer’s ice cream. How do you buy 4 half gallons for $12 and get $10 back? I know I’m missing something here. I thought you had to buy $25 in order to get $10 cat back? Thanks so much for your help!
heybets30 says
Has anyone been able to print the $3 off 3 J&J posted above? I get an error message “there are no prints for this campaign”.
Wondering if anyone has been successful? I’ve tried 2 computers and no luck.
Thanks!

So I am fairly new to couponing and I went to Jewel today hoping to do the Unilever deal….didn’t realize I mixed the Unilever deal with the Conagra deal and did not get my $10 Cat. Having 2 deals at the same time was so confusing. I was there forever !!!! I returned everything and got my milk and came home. I feel like I wasted so much time. I think I need to stick to the basic deals for now.

At target the Frosted Flakes 17.oz on sale for $1.99 buy 3 for $5.97. Use the 3x $1 from 6/7 rp and then get it for $2.97 plus the bottle of of simply organge. Total savings $5.50-6.00

https://www.totalcereal.com/, I used this coupon along with other coupons to buy 2 Total, 2 Cheerios, 2 Trix, and 2 Golden Grahams for $2.28 with tax. I could have done better if I would have had the $1 off 1 Cheerios coupon from the challenge, I signed up for it and haven’t gotten the coupons emailed to me yet. I wonder if it matters that I signed up for the challenge before.

If your preferred card is scanned first, do you need to use the preferred prices to get the deals? Will the cashiers agree to scan it at the end?

Just got back from Dominicks and the hot pockets were 2.50 a box not 1.49. The store was out of ads so I couldn’t check and 5.00 was taken off the order. If its not in the ad how can I prove it should have been 1.49.
krysnbrad says
Thanks. I did read the overview, I do understand the whole preferred/ non preferred prices. What I don’t understand is how you get the Breyer’s for 2/$6. My store has it at $4.99@. I tried the deal, and obviously did not work, because the ice cream came out to $19.96, which is why my original question was how do you get 4 ice creams for $12! In fact, almost none of the prices that quoted are at my store. The Fiber One bars are $3.39 @, The Chex Bars are 2/$7, I just don’t understand why the prices quoted are so much different than the ones at my store. I thought with a national chain, all sales would be equal. Can you enlighten me?
krysnbrad says
I guess that’s where the problem is, it is NOT in my ad at all. Not on sale. I just don’t get it. I rang it up with my preferred card, and it came to $4.99 each, no sale. That’s why I just didn’t understand how you were all making it work and I couldn’t.

I am so confused about the Deals for June 16th link. Is that for the week of June 18th – 24th or for deals that end on June 17th? My Crystal Lake Jewel ad doens’t say anything about the catalina deals.

I need some feedback on Wags RR. I wanted to use my ecotrin RR’s to to pay for the St. Ives at Wags but the guy said RR’s for St. Ives would not print if I used RR to pay for them. I thought I just could not use St. Ives RR’s to pay for St. Ives (rolling it over). Does anyone know the truth?
Also, I have been having trouble logging on to this website. It never recognizes my password and then I have to go through the process of getting another password. I just did this. Next time I try and log in, I will probably have to do it again.
Ok, so at Jewel the Conagra deal is still going on but Unilever is over correct? And at Doninicks the buy 10 things get $5 back is over…right???
illinigirl1974 says
Jill, I enjoyed your supercouponing class but I have to say I was very overwhelmed after your last class. I am actually signed up for the same class again and hope I feel better afterwards.

Jill, I have finally completed my FIRST deal yesterday. I shopped both Meijer and Jewel and bought $401.97 in groceries for only $97.36. My husband was so proud of me for saving us $300.00. I owe it all to you and just wanted to say thank you. In this very tough economy, this helps us so much. I took both of your classes in Sugar Grove some time ago and never got up enough nerve to try anything until yesterday. I am so hooked on Catalinas that I’ve already planned my next trip tomorrow to Jewel to work the ConAgra deals. Thanks again, Jill. I truly appreciate you and what you have taught me.
