Happy Tuesday! My family is back from a crazy road trip (to Connecticut over the weekend – we spent more time in the car than we did on the East Coast!) As I’ve shared occasionally in class, any time I’m not home to run out to my driveway and retrieve my coupons that arrive Sunday morning, I feel that little pang of worry that they might not be there when I get home. (Of course, they always are!) So, on early Sunday morning we were driving through NYC. My darling husband stopped to make a bagel run… and returned with bagels and a NY Post in his hand, just so I could get a preview of the coupons… :)
So now, it’s deal time! As always, a big welcome to our Super-Couponers from this past week’s classes in Woodstock and Forest Park!
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday. And, if you’re new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing website for a list of FREE coupon classes and instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!
Starting at Jewel, Dannon yogurt is cheap again! Dannon Light and Fit is on sale for .50 a cup. Load the Avenu electronic discounts to your Jewel card and it will take an additional .50 off each 3 you buy (limit 6 discounts per visit, so you can buy 18 cups per transaction.) That brings the price to 3 cups for a dollar, or .33 each… but of course, it’s even better with a coupon. Use the .60 off 6 from 5/3 SS, buy 6, and pay $1.40 for all 6, or .23 each! Anytime yogurt is under a quarter a cup, it’s a buy!
Still at Jewel, Ronzoni SmartTaste pasta is $1.25. Use the $1 coupon from 4/5 SS and take this home for a quarter a box!
Still at Jewel, they have a movie night deal going on participating Nestle foods. Buy $15 worth of participating products and your choice of a 1.5 qt. Edy’s ice cream product will be FREE ($3 value,) plus you’ll receive a free Redbox movie rental code on your receipt! You do need to bring the ice cream to the register with you in the SAME transaction as this is an instant savings:
Participating items & their coupons:
Lean Cuisine entrees 6-16 oz.: $1.99.
5/3 SS – $1 off 4
Stouffer’s meals (6-90oz) – price varies (not on a standardized sale, so each store is a little different)

Juicy Juice 46, 64 and 8-pack – price varies

$1 off any Purina One – recent Jewel mailer (you may receive if you’ve purchased Purina One at Jewel within the past few months.)
Remember that the cost of the Edy’s ice cream tub does NOT count toward your $15,and your pre-coupon total must be $15 or more. If you need any of these things, this could be a fun deal.
* Have you heard of All You? All You is a coupon-filled magazine! It sells for $2.49 an issue at Walmart (they have an exclusive newsstand distribution for it) or you can subscribe online for less. It’s a very nice magazine, but truthfully, I rarely get around to reading it… because I’m getting it for the coupons! The current issue has over $110 worth of coupons inside — really! And, it has an alphabetical index of all the products, coupons, values, and pages they appear on. Yep, what’s not to love about that? So, when deals feature All You coupons, I post them here too :)
Still at Jewel, their deal on milk continues… (And how often is it that we see deals on milk? Not often!) Half-gallons of Dean’s Over the Moon milk cost $2.41-$2.89 at Jewel (prices range depending on store.) There are $1 coupons for Over the Moon in 3/1 SS and 5/17 SS. The bonus? For each carton you buy, you’ll get a .50 Catalina for your next shopping trip! (White milk varieties only, not chocolate.) This brings the price of your milk down to .91-$1.49.
Many of you know my family drinks organic milk, primarily to avoid the bovine growth hormone in regular milk, but Over the Moon is a BGH-free milk as well, and at this price, we figured we’d try it! I’m NOT a fan of 1% or fat-free milk, but OTM guarantees you won’t be able to tell the difference between whole milk and their low fat varieties — if you can, they actually offer you a money-back guarantee on the carton! And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how good and creamy this 1% was — I honestly could not tell the difference. Yum!
AND… if you’ve done the Jewel Preferred Card update (and if you haven’t, you should… the coupon book you get is FILLED with great stuff!) I’ve got another bonus to add to the milk deal. The book also contains a coupon for a free bottle of Swiss Tea when you buy any gallon of Dean’s milk. If you buy 2 cartons of this, you’ll have purchased a gallon… and you can get yourself a free bottle of tea too! (The tea is near the orange juice, not near the other teas. I hunted around so you don’t have to! :)
And if you HAVEN’T done the update event, what are you waiting for? It’s absolutely worth doing if you’re near any of the participating Jewel stores, as you get a book filled with coupons, many of which are for FREE things!
Note that the .50 Catalina deal on Over the Moon is scheduled to run through mid-June, so we’ve got lots of time to enjoy cheap(er) milk!
Also continuing from last week, Weber Grill Creations (packets of marinade for grilled meats) continue to be a great buy! They’re on sale for .99, B1G1F. Use the .50 coupon from 5/17 SS and take 2 home for .49, or about a quarter each! But if you get multiple inserts, use 2 of these coupons (a great trick for B1G1F sales) and you’ll save .50 on each packet… making both FREE!
Now, head on over to the spice aisle, where you may find tearpads for $1 off any 2 Weber Grill Creations. With the tearpad coupon, you’ll take 2 home for FREE!
Lastly, if you did the FREE Milk Bones dog treat deal about a month ago, those Catalinas are due to expire 6/4. If youv’e been holding onto them waiting for a B1G1F sale (as I have,) it looks like we may not get one… so don’t forget to redeem them before they expire. Unless something surprises us ON Thursday… always a chance, but probably unlikely…
Heading over to Dominick’s, if you get your Chicago Tribune delivered daily, Friday’s paper had a store coupon for .99/gallon Lucerne milk (section 1, p. 11.) Grab that one out of the recycling bin if you need it..!
Blog reader TinaWalker notes that Doms has Wacky Mac pasta on sale for .99 a bag. Use the .75 coupon from 5/10 SS or printable from SmartSource and take this home for .24 a bag! If you use the Upromise electronic coupons, you can add another .50 to your child’s college fund for free by loading the Wacky Mac coupon to your Dominick’s card too!
Dominick’s Super Coupons in their Sunday flyer are pretty good this week! We love these, of course, because they’re store coupons, and we can stack manufacturer coupons with them! So here’s a breakdown of the best deals…
Skippy Peanut Butter is $1.49 with the Doms store coupon from their flyer. Stack this with the .40 coupon from 4/5 UN and take it home for $1.09…
Duracell 8-ct AA or AAA batteries are $3.99 with the store coupon. If you received the free P&G $120 Year of Savings coupon book back in January, use the $1 manufacturer coupon to take these home for $2.99… There’s also a .75 coupon in 5/17 PG.
Nature Valley granola bars – they’re $1.50 a box, and you can buy 4 at that price. 5/31 SS has a .75 off 2 coupon, as does Coupons.com. With 2, pay $4 for 4, or $1 a box. Not a great deal, but about the best we’ve seen in a while…
Still at Dominick’s, Haagen-Dasz pints of ice cream are just $1! During the last ice cream sale at Doms, many readers reported that 7-11s and Jewel Express stations both have tearpads for $1 off any Haagen-Dasz! I never TELL you to go on a coupon hunting spree, but if you -happen- to find some, take them to Dominick’s for some FREE ice cream..!
And carrying the “pick up coupons wherever you are” theme a bit further… Jewel currently has blinkies for B1G1F M&M/Mars chocolates. These chocolates are currently on sale at Dominicks, Buy 3, get 3 free. If you’ve done the Free Chocolate Fridays promo, you may be holding a coupon for your choice of FREE M&M/Mars chocolate. So, a possible scenario… with one blinkie and the free chocolate coupon, buy 6, use these 2 coupons… and ALL will be free! These blinkies MAY be at Dominick’s as well, but I personally have only seen them at Jewel… the 5/17 RP also has a B1G1F coupon too!
At Meijer this week, SuperPretzels are on sale for $1.20 a box. Use the .75 coupon from 5/10 RP and take them home for .45!
Still at Meijer, blog reader mak54321 posted a good deal on All laundry detergent and Snuggle fabric softener! All is on sale at Meijer, buy 2 ($4 each) and get Snuggle free. Use the $1 off 2 All coupon from 5/10 RP and the .50 off Snuggle coupon from 5/17 RP and take home all 3 for $6.50, or about $2.16 a bottle. With the $1 Snuggle coupon from RedPlum, you’ll take home all three for $6, or $2 each!
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store. Confusing? Yes. This is why I don’t blog too many Meijer deals…
For my Rockford readers (and anyone else with a Kroger store!) Hilander’s got some great deals this week too. Blog reader Ellen posted this deal that will net you some FREE Country Time lemonade mix… Country Time canisters are on sale for .99 each, and you’ll want to print this coupon for $1.50 off 2. Pay just .24 a canister, and you’ll get a Catalina for $1 off your next order! It’s a moneymaker… Hilander/Kroger will pay you .52 to take that lemonade home!
Still at Hilander/Kroger, Dial liquid hand soap is $1 a pump. Use the .35 coupons from 3/8 SS and 5/17 SS… which will double to .70 off, and take this home for just .30 a pump!
Kraft BBQ sauce is on sale for a buck too. With this $1 coupon, it’s FREE!
And still at Hilander/Kroger, the following deals from last week are still going…
Weber Grill Creations are a steal. They’re $1 each, and with the same .50 coupon noted above (5/17 SS) the coupon will double to $1, making these FREE…
Quaker Quakes rice snacks are also $1, and there are $1 coupons in 3/29 RP for any Quaker rice product. These will be FREE too…
Over at Walgreens, let’s take home more free stuff… Ecotrin aspirin is $2 a bottle, and when you buy it, you get a $2 Register Reward, making it FREE! Make it a moneymaker with the $2 coupon from 5/17 SS. Pay nothing but tax and get $2 back in return! Make it even more of a moneymaker with the $2.25 coupon from SmartSource — but remember, if you use this coupon, you may get coupon overage, and you’ll need to buy something else to “use up” that overage. Conversely, the store may choose to adjust down the value of the coupon. Either way though, you’ll get more free Ecotrin!
Forum member btrmama08 posted a great deal on Angel Soft toilet paper at Walgreens too. She spotted 4-packs marked down to .47. With the .50 from 4/19 RP, it’s FREE! Note that Walgreens stores are clearancing LOTS of different items at the moment (they’re reducing the number/kinds of products they carry in preparation for lowering the shelves in the stores to make them more “open” feeling [yes… really..!]) and stores are clearancing a lot of things. I have no way of knowing the clearance schedules for all stores, but this coupon’s worth clipping and carrying with you in case you see this deal :)
Forum member NicGee posted a great deal on Cutter Bug Spray at Wags too. We’ve seen this sale before, so if you didn’t jump on it before, get some cheap or FREE now! Small bottles of Cutter Advanced (truly, they are small with an orange or blue cap, about 4″ tall) are on sale for $2.19 each, or 2 for $4. The 5/31 SS has a $2 coupon. Use it, and pay just .19 for one, or if you get multiple papers/inserts, buy 2 with two $2 coupons and get both FREE!
Still at Walgreens, I hope everyone’s been stocking up on paper plates these past few weeks, because this is the cheapest time of the year to buy them! Those of you that have taken my Super-Couponing 2 class know that there are also yearly cycle lows on certain products, and we’re definitely in the yearly low for paper plates! Chinet plates are on sale for $1.50 a pack. Use the $1 coupon from 5/3 SS and take these home for .50! Note too that the blinkie dispensers at Jewel also currently have $1 coupons in them for Chinet plates…
And still at Walgreens, Dawn dish soap is .99 with the coupon from this week’s Wags flyer. Stack this with the .50 Dawn manufacturer coupon from the free P&G $120 Year of Savings coupon book, and it’s just .50 a bottle…
Over at CVS, they’ve got a great deal going on Maxwell House coffee. It’s on sale for $4.99, B1G1F. Use this $2 off 2 coupon and take 2 cans home for $2.99, or $1.50 each!
Lastly, a special thanks again to all my forum members who posted and alerted me to super deals this week!To Ellen, btrmama08, NicGee, TinaWalker, mak54321 and Paisleypower… I want to reward you with some great, high-value coupons for posting great deals this week! i tried using the shelf price ($3.49) for the movie & free ice cream deal but it didn’t work. now one of two things could have gone wrong: 1) i bought the french bread pizzas instead of the more expensive entrees shown in the ad ($4.39), or 2) the deal is only on the sale price ($1.99). anyone know how i screwed this one up?

Just this week there was a tear pad at the Crystal Lake Jewel with coupons for Chinet lunch plates free when you purchase any chinet dish or cup package. Use it at Walgreens (if they have the lunch size) and pay $0.50 for 2 packages of plates!

On my Avenue there is $1 off 12 pack nestle water. Not sure if that helps with the nestle deal. Stoufers too, but I think it is the wrong size. Might be worth checking. I am not doing that deal though. Just wanted to give a heads up to others incase.

The Walgreens in the Naperville area (east side of town) are part of the same “group,” which formerly included Lisle (Downers Grove is separate); an assistant manager told me that they get the clearance item information from corporate on Thursdays, so I would assume Thursday afternoon is the time to do our Walgreens’ grocery shopping!

There is a great deal on mac n cheese/capri sun at Jewel. The five packs of Kraft mac n cheese is B1G1F and there are peelies on each box for one free Capri Sun Sunrise. Plus there is a $2 catalina from Kraft for buying 6 or more boxes. So for $5.49 you get 10 boxes of mac n cheese and two boxes of juice. My Jewel had them together on an end cap.

CVS has Dean’s milk on sale for $1.99 (limit 2 ) and you get $1.00 extra buck back. I had a $2.00 extra buck so I paid nothing for the milk and got the $1.00 extra buck.

There is a register reward deal at Kmart on Huggies and my diaper supply has gotten low. Can their register rewards be used at Jewel? Does anyone know? Thanks.

Walgreens in Cary and FRG would not accept the $2.25 Ecotrin Q or the $.50 Angel Soft Q. I asked that they just adjust the Q down to the products price and they refused. Just a heads up to all in my area! It was still a stellar day at Walgreens. My kids have Chinette plates to eat all their Chips Ahoy cookies on and I have lots of Ecotrin to deal with the sugar high the kids will be on!

I just got back from Walgreens (in Huntley) and I could not find the small Cutter Advanced marked for $2.19 or 2 for $4. No signs and no bottles with blue caps. They had small bottles (orange cap, though) normal price $3.19. Since I was by the pharmacy, I had the cashier check the price, and it came up $2.19. Yeah! However, when I went to checkout at the normal register up front, it rang up $3.19!! I had her take it off the bill, put the rest of my groceries in the car, and went back in. I grabbed a new bottle and went back to the pharmacy. This bottle rang up at $3.19!! She was as surprised as I was. The manager allowed it to be reduced, but then my $2 coupon wouldn’t go through! It all worked out ok in the end, but what an ordeal! Just wanted everyone else to watch carefully at how things ring up!
Also, I did not see any Chips Ahoy for 2/$5 as mentioned in the forum. And no more packages of Angel Soft either. It was a frustrating day at Wags!

I am new to this so I can’t get my mind around this scenerio. If I only have 3BOGO Q’s and Dominick’s has these B3G3 how many will I have to pay for and how many will be free? Sorry if this has been covered before but I haven’t been to a class yet.
TIA!

When using any of the coupons above (that Jill recommends for the Weber Grill Creations), the Jewel I went to would not give me the overage for the last coupon. In other words, be prepared for the cashier to tell you that the coupon can’t be accepted because it it over the price of the Grill Creations.
I just had her adjust the coupon down to $0.99. Regardless, FREE!

Used the $2.00 off coupon from 3/17 SS for the Ecotrin (on sale at WAGS for $2), got a $2 Catalina, used the $2 Catalina for another Ecotrin, got another $2 Catalina…roll on and on…..will have enough asprin for a year, for free! (actually, they paid ME $2 to take a years supply of asprin)

Jewel next week has the 10ct Bayer quick release/dissolve for $1.99, use the $2 off Q(sorry don’t know the release date) for a freebie……good luck.

If you have 3 BOGO and Dominicks has b3g3. How many bars could you get with your 3 BOGO Q’s. It has to be more than the B3G3 free with those free Q’s, right? Jill- can you explain how the BOGO works in this situation?
How about if you have a bogo and the store has the same product bogo?
I am so confused!

All I can say is that I tried hard, but couldn’t manage to come up with $20 of groceries I really wanted to buy there so I could use the special coupons. So, I put my special store coupon items back and came home w/o buying anything.

While this site is great it would be really helpful if you just listed the store you refer to as “MY STORE” by town or location….not calling anyone out so don’t get all bent out of shape it is a general comment that would help me and others for sure…..TIA

Does anyone know how long wacky mac is on sale at Dominicks? I never made it there this week and was hoping I would get lucky with a longer sale on this item…thanks!
