A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!

and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has discontinued its Avenu ecoupons as of today, 6/18/12. The ecoupons you can currently use with Jewel-Osco now are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Additional info:
If prints are still available, print this $2 off a $10 Lucerne Purchase printable, print it and use it with some more Lucerne (Safeway house brand) items this week.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
NOTE: Meijer Mealbox printable coupons have officially been discontinued.
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through TUESDAY, June 26th.
Off to Target…

Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Jill, the Barilla pasta is 0.75 if you buy 10. If you have the 55cents off 2 Q from the 6/24 SS it would be 47cents a piece. Correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks for the early post of the weekly deals.

I got a cat for $1.50 off *any* A&H liquid detergent, at Jewel a while back (maybe a month or so ago). If you also got that, it’s a good time to use it, since it’s on sale for $1.99 right now.
seachicago says
I know this has come up before, but just to confirm: I used the BOGO coupons on the BOGO razors a couple of days ago. When you buy 6 total (using 3 coupons), you will get a $5 cat, but *only* if you do not mix the men’s & women’s! I did one transaction with 4 men’s and 2 women’s Daisy, and did not get a cat. My next transaction, with 6 Daisy *did* get me the cat (just the mix of coupons I had left).

Dr. Pepper 12 packs are part of the four for $10.00 at Jewel so with four $1.00 off coupons they will be $1.50 each!

to me the beach towels at Target are not good towels. They are small and thin but if your just looking for something for the kids they would work. They have them on sale this week at Meijer for $4.99 and they are bigger. Thats where I got mine after seeing the ones at Target. Also, the pool is going fast they were out yesterday at Yorkville and Oswego. They said since it was a sale item they should be getting more in this week, but dont know when.

Just went to this website https://www.searsoutlet.com/d/apparel/discount-apparel.jsp?cid=0# , and printed a $5 off $25 purchase of apparel coupon(exp 6/30/12 this time), but also a free piece of apparel every Tuesday thru 7/10/12 coupon(not like Facebook one day exp). I’ve used a $5/$25 coupon several different times, at 2 outlets, when they have had other specials.

I just got the coppertone at Wags and the store coupon says one per customer so they only took off $1. Still a good deal at 1.79 each.
seachicago says
If you’re buying cereal, there’s a good opportunity to use your $5 off $20 purchase CVS coupon. I bought 12 boxes of Corn Flakes & Rice Krispies at $1.99/box for $23.88 – $5 CVS q -(4) $1 q = $1.24/box. I also used $13.75 in ECBs that were about to expire, so I only paid $1.31 out of pocket! Yay!!!
I think you could actually just buy 10 boxes for $19.90 and still use the $5 q (CVS doesn’t seem to quibble when you’re a few cents short), plus (3) $1 q, and that would give you cereal for $1.19/box.
Just FYI: the Rice Krispies on sale are 9 oz., too small for the coupons in the 6/3 RP (10 oz. or larger). But the Corn Flakes are 12 oz., so it will work for them. And the q in the 6/24 RP is for 8.7 oz. or larger, so that one works for the Rice Ks.

At Jewel, along with the $1 Hawaiian King buns, I bought a Wholly Guacamole ($3) and used the $1 off from the 6/3S and then also used the free lb. of ground beef Q from 5/13 S (when you buy Hawaiian kings burger buns and a wholly guacamole)
seachicago says
The $5 off coupon prints from the coupon machine in the store, when you scan your ExtraCare card. There was a notice in yesterday’s paper, I think. No need to dig through the recycling this time! It’s only good thru tomorrow though, if I’m remembering correctly.

Something apparently changed at Wags?
I just tried the low – dose Bayer asperin with 6 – $3.00 coupons and one 2.50 Colgate Reward.
the $10 reward did not print.
the manager tried scanning 2 different methods without any coupons and the $10.00 rewards kicked out.
The manager stated that the coupons must be affecting the $10 reward.
any idea?
the mgr refunded entire transaction

I did the Huggies deal today at CVS as Jill mentioned. But I had found a $2 printable for Goodnites at coupon.com that I used also.
So, I bought Goodnites 35ct – $2 printable, Huggies pullups 23ct – $2 (6/17SS), and decided to use the $5 off $20 purchase coupon to. After all was added up I ended up spending $22.75 + my $10 extra bucks making my total $12.75 for about $6.50/ea, So exciting!!
Thank you so much Jill for your website!! I’m new to the whole couponing experience and it is awesome!

I live in Bourbonnais and unless Chicagoland got a different Kroger ad, the Ken’s salad dress that is onsale for $1 is only 9oz. Also, I’m not sure what insert it was in, but there is a $1/1 Ken’s salad dressing coupon that expires on 6/30 but it is for 16 oz or larger.

If you are buying Coppertone at Wags look for bonus bottles- creams are 33% more and sprays 25% more. They were not tagged and yesterday the cashier told me they were not part of the deal. But I went one more time today and asked a different cashier and she said that they are. So I bought 2 and it worked. A lot of them have a peelie for $10 off a ticket to Six Flags, up to $40 total, I think.

I know many are having trouble with the tea deal at Jewel (which should be over by now) but I noticed on Walgreen’s sign this morning that their 23 oz. Arizona Teas are on sale for 2/$1-no q’s needed and these are bigger than the teas from Jewel. I, for one, really like the Arizona Teas and will be stocking up for this hot spell.

The Wet n Wild $1 off coupons (5/13 RP) expire this Saturday 6/30. I don’t wear nail polish, but I decided to buy the polish for birthday and Christmas gifts.
Yesterday, I purchased eight nail polishes at Walgreens for a total of about $1 plus tax.
I usually have six sets of coupons, but I had eight sets for the 5/13 weekend, because I found two coupons inserts on the street when I was taking a walk around the neighborhood.
I bought five of the 99 cent polishes and used five coupons, so these were free plus five cents overage.
There is also a buy two Wet n Wild polish at $1.99 each and get one free deal at Walgreens. The cost was $3.98 (for two plus one free). I used three $1 off coupons, so the total cost was .98.
I could have got them all for free, but I wanted to get some of the colors in the B2G1 deal.
Even if you have one coupons, you can still get one 99 cent polish for free.
Thanks so much for all of the great tips on this website. I noticed that this deal was not listed, and thought there might be some other people who wanted to get some free/cheap nail polish before the coupon expires on Saturday.
