A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!

and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load Jewel Avenu ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
Additional info:
The 5/3 Jewel-Osco flyer advertised a FREE $25 Jewel-Osco gift card with new or transferred pharmacy prescription, and any $25 Gift Card Mall gift card with 3 additional prescriptions. Good deal! This one runs through 8/31/12.

If you shop at Jewel-Osco with children, stop by the customer service counter for a Jewel-Osco Healthy Eaters Kids Club membership card for your child. The card is free, and any time your child shops with you, he or she can get a FREE small Red Delicious apple or a free banana by scanning the card at checkout. The card is reusable and valid through 8/15/12. (Your child must be present and shopping with you to use the card.)
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Additional info:
If prints are still available, print this $2 off a $10 Lucerne Purchase printable, print it and use it with some more Lucerne (Safeway house brand) items this week.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons | Print store coupons from Meijer Mealbox
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through TUESDAY, June 5th.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are now online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
When applicable, I will note the online-ad-only deals with the “Bonus Buys” icon shown at right. This is the same icon Walgreens is also using in their online-only ad pages.
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Jill, the new list feature is FABULOUS. I just used it and then emailed the list to my email. I don’t have a Smart phone or whatever, but do have a Color Nook. I’ll put the email on the Nook and take it to the store. It saves a lot of cut and paste time. When I do come into the modern phone age, I’ll know just how to do it! Thanks for your hard work.

some pantene items at the orland store are clearanced priced. i got some conditioner for $2.16.
i have been rolling between the pantene deal and the oscar mayer deal for several days now. if you start with the pantene deal you will have between $3-$4 oop. you will get a $5 store catalina. then you go and purchase 5 oscar mayer 2oz lunch meat. pay with the catalina and your oop is zero. not even tax cause its a store catalina.with the oscar mayer you get a $4 catalina. then you use that catalina and a $3/2 and get free pantene(make sure to have a few ears of corn or something else in your order to use up the overage. might as well get the full value).plus you get the $5 catalina to use again on the oscar mayer. and so on and so on.you cant split the orders per the new coupon policy but you can exit and re-enter the store. or if close enough you can spread out over several days.

I love the new feature and I’m not whinning by no means so please don’t take it as a whine! :) When I printed my list, it didn’t sort by store am I doing something wrong? Also, I do all my coupon work from my iphone, it allowed me to highlight but a little box did not show up until I went to a PC. I was hoping I could click and email it from my iphone. Any chance your thinking about a app? :)

The dilusso free 1/2 lb chees coupon at the deli does have a limit of $3.99 max so don’t do a cheese over that price.
Hamptons Mom says
Jill, I love you! Your new feature is the best – now I don’t have to write out everything. I usually try to write everything shorthand since there are so many great deals but I often would forget a very important part of the deal – i.e. must buy 4 to get this deal. Now it is all on my printed list and organized by store even. This is a wonderful addition to a wonderful site!

Sunday I went to CVS ready to buy razors with 2 B1G1 free coupons in hand. I bought 4 packages of different varieties of Gillette Venus razors. Each was $11.49. So I was well over the $30. The $10 ECB did not print out and my receipt said I had only spend $11.49 towards the $30 total. The add clearly says ALL Gillette shaving products are part of the deal. They are very nice at CVS and printed out my ECB’s for me because they were also puzzled why it didn’t work. So, check your receipt and ECB’s when you go to the store.
Also, my CVS in Mt Prospect only had one of the varieties of BIC soleil razors and they were sold out. So the cashier let me pick a different kind of Soleil and forced the ECB’s for me. They are very nice there, I have to say.

I got an email from CVS for 20% off non-sale items. This would apply to the P&G $30/$10ECB deal so that would make the deals better!

At Jewel last week I was told they will not be taking register rewards as of June 1st? Is this true???
alcherubini says
When I click on “Printout entire list” for June 4 deals, it pulls up the May 28 deals. Thought you’d like to know.

LOVE the new feature – but apparently my iPad doesn’t. Dying to use it – Help Jill!!! Pretty please???

The coupon machine gave me a $4 off $12 cosmetics purchase.
Maybelline gives $3 ECB for $10 purchase
There are $1 Q’s for Maybelline Mascara, Eye shadow/line, and Lip from 4/15 RP
I was able to use my 20% CVS coupon on this (not sure why, since I would think this was a promotional item?)
I bought a mascara and an eyeliner for $8.39 each = $16.78 – $4 CVS Q, -$2 manuf Q, -$3.36(20%), – $3 ECB = $4.42

I am annoyed that Walgreens now has items on sale
for 3 for 3 dollars or 1.39 each..I just want one item
and want to pay one dollar..Also, I am so
tired of the buy one get one half off “sale”
usually on CoverGirl makeup.
There is the b1 get 1 half off, and there is
a coupon for buy one get one free Lash Blast
in yesterday (june 3rd) P and G ad
so I would most likely buy one mascara and get
the other free, no half off, get one free?
Ugghh!! Walgreens is more like a convenient store,
close to home, but expensive prices..
and trust me, I have spent enough in RX costs to know
a thing or two about shopping at Wags..more like Sags..
Sags your budget down :(((

I went to CVS today to do the Bounty Basic deal and was standing in line when I noticed the man in front of me has the Bounty Basic as well, and it said $9 in coupons inside. I looked at my packages, and saw they did not have them. Of course I ran back to replace my packages!!! Anyhow, look out for the coupons inside on the label!!!
$1/2 Charmin 03/31/13
$1/1 Scope 710ml or larger 03/31/13
$1/1 Duracell 03/31/13
$1/1 Fixodent 1.05oz or larger or Cleanser 03/31/13
$5/1 Align box 03/31/13

Can you use a B1G1 coupon on a B1G1 at Jewel? I know Wags changed their policy on that a while ago but I can’t remember if Jewel did. I just looked at their policy & I can’t find anything on it…or am I just missing it?
I’m asking because Gillette razors are B1G1 & I want to use a B1G1 coupon for free razors?!? Sounding too good to be true!

While searching for the necessary Q in 6/3 PG in response to Jill’s alert to FREE razors at Jewel, I spotted a BOGO Q for Cover Girl Mascara AND I remembered I received a $2 off TARGET store Q for Cover Girl products in a home mailer. They stacked and even better…they were on sale @ my Gurnee Target for 5.99! SO…$3.99 total for 2 mascaras!!!!! I was a happy Jill follower! Give it a shot!!!
