Ready for another week of great deals? A big welcome to our new Super-Couponers from this past week’s classes in Elgin, Wauconda, and Palos Heights, and of course the many listeners from Johnny B’s show as well…
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday.
Kicking things off at Jewel this week, there’s a fantastic deal going on Kraft cheese! Kraft shredded cheese and bricks of cheese are on sale for $2. Buy 7 packages (you can mix and match) – spend $14 and get a $10 Catalina back! Now, make sure at least 4 of your cheeses are “Kraft 2%” variety, and you’ll also get a bonus $3 Catalina for buying four 2% cheeses too… that’s 7 packages of cheese for $1!
Make sure to use coupons for this deal too if you have them! There are .75 coupons in the Blinkie dispenser at many stores for the 2% cheese, and if you picked up the Super Bowl coupon books during that great Coke deal back in January, there are $1 off 2 coupons for the 2% Kraft cheese inside too! With these, you’ll have a cheese moneymaker!
Note: Do not use the Kraft 2% Singles with this deal – they do not work as a qualifier for the extra $3 Catalina, though they will work as a “regular” cheese for the other part of the deal.
There are numerous other products in the same $10 Catalina deal too. If you need bread and cheese, pick up 2 loaves of Arnold Natural bread and 6 Kraft cheeses (again, making sure at least 4 are 2% varieties.) The bread is on sale for $2.99, B1G1F. Use the $1 Arnold bread coupon from March All You – pay $13.99 and get $13 back in Catalinas!
CapriSun drink pouches are another good deal. Buy 9 at $2 a box ($18) and get a $10 Catalina back… this will bring them to less than $1 a box! :)
Here’s the Catalina alert for the deal which contains a listing of ALL the products you can work into the deal. For those of you that have been with my blog for awhile now, you know the way these work… the deal is spend $25, get $10 back in Catalinas. But the deal actually works on the non-Preferred price of the item. So as long as your regular prices go over $25, you can mix and match any of these items to get your Catalina! :)
Still at Jewel, Kellogg’s Raisin Bran and Frosted Flakes are on sale for $1.67 a box. Use the .70 coupon from 2/22 RP and take this home for just .97 a box! If you like Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats Little Bites or Kellogg’s Hannah Montana cereal (yes… really…) these are also $1.67 a box, but there’s a $1 coupon for it in the same insert. You can have this for breakfast for just .67 a box!
Over at Walgreens, get ready to go crazy! There are so many deals at Wags this week that I don’t even know where to begin! So, let’s start with the big diaper deal of the week!
Huggies diapers are on sale at Walgreens for $10 a pack (Jumbo sizes.) If you buy $25 or more of diapers, you’ll get $10 in Register Rewards. There are some GREAT printable coupons to use with this deal… Coupons has a $5 and a $3 coupon for Huggies, as does RedPlum. We -rarely- see printables for diaper coupons, especially high-value.
Then, if you can find one, pick up the 99-cent coloring book from Walgreens. It contains a bunch of Walgreens store coupons, including one for $1 off Huggies. You will only need one, as Walgreens coupons apply to all your like items in one order. (Additionally, most Wags will let you keep the coupon, as they just discard the store coupons at the end of the day.)
So, here’s how it can work:
3 packs of Huggies @ $10 = $30
Minus $1 x 3 for coloring book coupon = $27
Minus three $5 coupons = $12
Pay $12 and get at $10 RR = $2 for 3 packs of Huggies! That’s just .66 a pack!
Remember, if you repeat this deal, DON’T use the $10 from your first transaction to pay for the second. You will NOT get another $10 RR if you do this.
If you like rebates too, you may want to check out www.thecaregiversmarketplace.com in conjunction with this deal. If you buy 5 or more packs of diapers, you can submit your receipts and receive .75 back for each pack of Huggies you bought… making your diapers FREE!
Still at Walgreens, Garnier Fructis shampoo and styling products are FREE again this week! The haircare products are on sale for $2.99. Stack the $2 coupon in the March EasySaver with the $1 coupons that were just in this past Sunday’s paper (3/8 RP) and pick one of each up for FREE!
And still at Walgreens, it’s time for more FREE Glade air fresheners (as if we didn’t get enough of these free back in November! :) Glade Sense and Spray and Glade Lasting Impressions air fresheners are on sale for $7.99 each. There is a $4 Walgreens coupon for each in this month’s EasySaver. Stack this with the $4 coupons in the 2/8 RP and the March All You and pick these up for FREE too!
Over at CVS, Garnier Nutrisse hair color is super cheap! The hair color is on sale for $5 a box, and if you spend $10 or more on Garnier haircolor, you get $5 back in Extra Care Bucks. Let’s make this even better with coupons… 12/7 RP and 2/8 RP both have $2 coupons for the Nutrisse! Use those, pay $6 for your 2 boxes… and get $5 back. You can color your hair twice for just .50 a box!
Still at CVS, Crest Pro Health toothpaste is really cheap too. It’s on sale for $2.99, and when you buy a tube, you’ll get $2 back in ECBs. Use the .75 coupon from 3/1 PG, pay $2.24… and get $2 back! You’ll take that tube of Crest home for just .24!
Free stuff:
Free Betty Crocker Warm Delights Minis
Free box of Just for Men haircolor
Free resume printing day at Fedex Office (formerly Kinkos) – 3/10 ONLY.

Dearest Jill,

I am a “newbie” to this after taking your class in LITH two weeks ago. Your website is great and offers great money saving info…HOWEVER…I am beyond frustrated with trying to FIND the products mentioned for these deals. In the past 3 days, I have been to 5 Walgreen’s in the area…not ONE of them had ANY Huggies diapers to purchase for the great “deal” and get the RR, there were NO coloring books and no one in the stores even heard of them, nor can they tell me if any more diapers will be coming in.
I’m just as frustrated at Jewel…I’ve also been to 5 different Jewels in the past few days…not a single bag or block of cheese to be found. No one in the store can tell me when more might come in. Cus. Svc. said I could have a raincheck for the price $2/ea, however, if I got them next week it would NOT print the CAT…so there is not really any BIG savings.
So….how is it that one can actually take advantage of the BIG DEALS, when I can’t even FIND the products to buy to begin with? I had the same problem last week w/ a lot of the items listed at Jewel.
Quite honestly I am spending more money on GAS and my valuable time than this even seems worth…and in the end I have no deals b/c there are no products on the shelves. I go to the stores early to beat the rush and still nothing….ANY SUGGESTIONS…other than moving to a less populated area??? :) You provide a lot of great info, but it ends up being not at all helpful when I can’t even take advantage of the deals w/out the products on the shelves.

I know how you feel. I was at the store yesterday got 7 bags of cheese and right after I grabbed mine a lady came up and took almost all the Kraft 2% cheese! The case was full! She only left a couple bags. Her cart was full of items included in the deal. I dont think that was very nice. I think people have a tendency to get a little greedy during the really good deals and I know a lot of people donate to the food pantry but maybe “we” should leave some for other people that shop too.

Hello. Does anyone know if the Huggies deal includes Pull-ups?
amjacobs909 says
Does anyone know if the $5.00 printed coupon will work for other types of Huggies, or only the Gentle Care as it states on the coupon? Gentle Care only goes up to size 2 and I need bigger sizes. Thanks!

— END OF CATALINA ADVERTISEMENT TEXT.
And just to explain something that is not commonly known, Kraft singles are not the same as Kraft Slices. I verified this myself with Kraft after I successfully bought a Kraft Deli Fresh Slice package.
For future reference, unless otherwise specified, singles are not the same as slices.
An example of Kraft Slices is found at this link to Kraft’s website:
Product Name:
DELI DELUXE – CHEESE – SHARP CHEDDAR 2% MILK SLICES 10 CT
Link:
https://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Products/ProductInfoDisplay.aspx?SiteID=1&Product=2100062342
Notice the package specifically says Deli Fresh Slices.
The problem is, not all Jewel stores carry this type of cheese, at least in my experience.
And please remember, this information is crucial to receive the $3 Catalina.
Hope this helps.

I also have had no luck yet with the shredded cheese. One of their employees told me that a lady took a whole case so nothing is left… I even asked yesterday to make sure I knew when the truck was supposed to come in so I could be there around the same time.
I think I’m calling ahead today, it’s too disappointing and frustrating to keep driving out for nothing.
I also heard you might be able to reserve some cheese as soon as it comes in. I’ll have to call and see if that actually works. Good luck.

I have to agree with everybody here. Jill please don’t listen to the people complaining about shelves being empty. I have adjusted many times my trips becasue when I got to the store they didn’t have the item anymore…so what..try next time or different store.
By the way, In the Jewel – W dundee – I did the cheese deal on Friday…then went on Sunday morning to do my regular groceries and found plenty more cheese so I did the deal again.
Today, I decided to go get the Capri sun — bought 9 boxes
paid with $10 cat, $5 P&G cat and $2 RR from walgreens
my OOP was less than $2 and got my $10 cat back again.
I went thru the cheese isle and they were tons of cheese but probably 10 bags of the 2% in addition to regular cheese, strings etc.. I didn’t do the cheese deal again because I think that I have plenty doing the deal twice before —
The week where the pillsbury biscuits were on sale, I called the store 2 times in W dundee before they dairy dept confirmed that they were back in stock..then I went to store and got 20 of them …leaving plenty on the shelf.
Don’t feel discourage and as many people have written already when the managers or cashier start giving you a hard time just walk away, it’s no point arguing with them because you want to keep them in your good side if that’s the store you normally shop at… when ever Walgreens tells me that I can’t use 2 coupons on the B1G1F sales then I just say , OK no problem.. I either have them take off the stuff or I keep it if I really want the item just using one coupon.

The $5 Huggies coupon works on any Huggies Diaper, not just Gentle Care.

I was lucky to find the size I was looking for in order to complete the Huggies deal at Walgreens, I received my $10 RR with no problems. Today, I went to a different Wags near my work to get more diapers, I was only buying the 3 packages for $30 and I used 3 $5 coupons, so it brought it down to $15, I then gave the cashier (who was soooo extremely rude, she literally threw my diapers into a bag and then threw them on the counter, she also sighed very loudly when I handed her the coupons) my $10 RR to pay for part of the total and it wasn’t accepted because it was “exceeding the amount”…I asked her what that meant, as my total was $18 and the RR was for $10, she couldn’t explain it to me, nor was she willing to find out, not to mention there was a line of 4 people now behind me. Anyone else experience this happening with the paying of the RR? I ended up not using the $10 RR because I can always use it later and the diapers were still a great deal (.16 per diaper!), and I got my other $10, so now I have $20 to spend…are there any limitations with that?! THANKS :)
elvisgirl says
Hello chickie,
I think based on what you wrote — since you used 3 coupons and you were only buying 3 diapers..using the RR is using another manufacture coupon the register won’t allow that..you needed a small filler item – the number of coupons can not exceed the number of items that you were buying.
In the future if you have coupons for all your items and you are going to pay with an RR then you must buy something small so that the register will allow it. I always include a small pencil or pen (.10 or .20c purchase) whenever I need to add a filler to my order.

I got the Gamer razor today for 99 cents . . . on sale $8.99 then $4 off q then $4 RR . . . where did you get the extra 99 cents off?
iheartfreebies says
Does anyone know if the CVS ECB’s can roll over? I know the Wags RRs dont, so I’ve been hesitant to try in fear I’d lose my coupons in a not-so-fabulous deal. I have my co-workers who don’t like to coupon give me their inserts, so I have a lot of coupons to go around… :)

In reguards to the cheese deal, does anyone know if you can freeze cheese?
Alice says
Does anyone know if the 12″ Digiorno works on the kraft deal or just the Digiorno of one? Or if the Oreo 100 calorie packs that are B1G1 are included too?
Thanks for the help
Beachlover says
Jill,
How do rainchecks work when there is a deal where you get a RR or Catalina for that purchase? For example, I cannot find any Huggies diapers in my son’s size (size 6) and I have been to 4 Wags. If I get a raincheck for the diapers and Wags doesn’t end up getting them in stock till next week, will I still be able to get the RR if I buy them next week? Also, how would a raincheck work when there is a Catalina involved? For example, like the deal at Jewel for the shredded cheese (yes, I do know that that cheese deal is going on for awhile but hypothetically what would happen?)
Thanks for your help!

Thank You so much for posting these deals…. I am so excited to get Capri Sun so cheap, with Soccer season coming up this is perfect.

I’m really new to supercouponing and haven’t attended a class yet [attending on Saturday!] but sort of figured out some of the steps in the process… I have been using coupons for years, but not to this extent! So I went to my local Jewel in Vernon Hills today and got lectured by the cashier. She wouldn’t accept my $15 coupon for the Glucose Monitoring Kit because the coupon exceeded the value of the item.. sigh. I asked her if she could just do it for $14.99 and she said no because the coupon doesn’t say it can be for free.. I didn’t feel like arguing and was a bit pressed for time, so I’ll just have to return it. My $10 cat didn’t print either. double sigh… haha.
A bit deflated, but now I really know to look for the younger cashiers and make sure I have ample time for my shopping! :)

Do you need to scan your preferred card after your groceries are rung in order for it to use the “non-preferred” price? I did exactly what you stated above – 7 cheeses, 4 were the 2%, 9 boxes of capri sun and I also got the Arnold bread because I needed that as well. I only received a $10 and $3 catalina. I was expecting one more $10. Maybe they don’t print multiple $10 cats on one purchase??

Does anyone know if you could use your $10 RR coupons from Wags at any other stores besides Wags?

does anyone know if the “buy $25 kraft deal” is before sale/preferred card prices? I thought it was, that’s how I did the 9 boxes of caprisuns for $18 & got $10 back. But then today at jewel, I tried to buy $25 worth of jello pudding cups, b/c they had the promo sign under it for the “buy $25…” but no cats printed & the cust ser rep thought I was crazy.

Okay, I am new to the coupon world to this extent. I did the Jewel deal the other day and it worked. Thank you Jill!!
However, I have a question about Colgate that hopefully someone can answer. Walgreens has a colgate coupon in the March easy saver for 2.50 off which would bring the cost down to 99 cents. In the All You magazine there is a coupon for $1.50 off. Can I use them both and get the 51 cents credited to another item? I hope this makes sense. Thanks

I tried to do this cat deal at meijer, I had previously received an ad for the 3.00 back cat there, it did not print the 10$ cat. Is it not available at meijer? I bought 6 cheeses (4 2%-got the 3.00cat) and 3 salad dressings. That was 25.00 pre sale I think. What am I doing wrong? thanks for input

I went last night to buy the Huggies at Walgreens. I bought three packs and used three 5 dollar off coupons. I didn’t get the 10 RR at the checkout. I asked the manager and they said it was because I used the coupons and didn’t spend 25 dollars. Has anyone else had this problem?

Went into that Jewel because I was in the area. I usually shop at the huntley Jewel. anyways tried doing the deal and the catalinas didn’t work and I returned the order and the customer service lady told me that they have new computers and there is a glitch that jewel is changing very soon so the prices will work off of the preferred price NOT the regular shelf price and to tell all your couponing friends it won’t last forever! Is this true?? Jill can you give some insight on this for us please when you get a chance????

AS YOU CAN TELL, I AM NEW TO THIS AMAZING COUPONS DEALS!
WHAT IS ‘STACKING??’ IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE USING MORE THAN ONE COUPON…BUT, HOW CAN THAT BE??
ALSO, I AM IN THE N.E. ( MASS TO BE EXACT.) WE DON’T HAVE A JEWEL’S OR KRUEGER. I THINK OUT PRICES MIGHT BE A BIT MORE THAN IN IL. ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE??
THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE! ANXIOUS TO LEARN AND SAVE!!:)

At the risk of sounding like a nut-job, does anyone know of a place(s) to recycle Capri-Sun bags/pouches? I thought there was a nfp organization of some sort who takes these “donations” and re-purposes them.
I’ve definitely seem “purses” and “totes” made from recycled Carpi-Sun and Hi-C and similar types of bags for sale in boutiques and gift shops – and they’re cuter than you might imagine. I thought there was also somewhere that accepts them as part of some fundraising or recycling program as well. Sort of like the pop tabs or soup labels.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
(I’m expecting that I’m going to be having more than a few of these empty bags…)
UPDATE: Nevermind. I answered my own question and am not nuts. They do indeed recycle and here’s a link to some info. about the program:
