If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.

Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
Disclosure: I am a CVS ambassador blogger selected by CVS to represent their brand. As part of this program, I have access to CVS/pharmacy advertising and promotions prior to their public release dates. This allows me to thoroughly cover the store’s sales and ask any promotional questions prior to the beginning of each week’s sales. I am not compensated for writing weekly deals and matchups. I do not receive a commission for CVS products purchased through CVS.com. All opinions about CVS/pharmacy are my own.

CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog full Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Does anyone know which Dominicks carry the Motts Medley? Thanks!

How do I get these things at these prices? .49 Motts and free spice?

They have Beggin Strips(6oz) on price cut for $2.50 until 3/30 I believe. In the 1/27 Target/Purina insert there is a B2G1F Target coupon. Then there is a man q for B1G1F and $1 off. (Sorry don’t remember what insert) I did this deal last night and the man q took off $3.75 instead of $2.50. So 3 bags of really cheap treats for $.25 all together. There is also a Target printable for $1.50/2 Temptations cat treats and a man q for $.50. They were $1.52 at the Target in Algonquin. So $.27 cat treats!

Hi Jill! Thank you for all you do! And for posting so early!!
The coupon you link to for the TGI Fridays snacks specifies 12.0-17.4 oz product but the B3G1F ad in the flyer lists 7.6-10 oz product. Do you think that the larger size is included in the “other selected frozen appetizers…”? Or did the coupon on coupons.com change already?
Thanks!!

Hi- As I posted here before, through 3/12, they have the Alexia frozen potatoes on sale at Whole Foods for $2.50. At most, but not all Whole Foods stores, you can stack the $1 whole deals store coupon, with the $1 coupon that was on Mambo Sprouts, and get it for $.50. They put the potatoes on sale fairly frequently. They also have cheap olive oil there all the time. You can get a 33 ounce bottle of their 365 store brand of extra virgin olive oil for the every day low price of $5.99, which is cheaper than I can ever get it at Dominick’s or Jewel. Hope this helps, Nancy

HI-I noticed the $3. off each box of Hefty when you buy 2 or more (store sale no coupon) in Wednesdays paper and wondered if there were any personalized pricing like we have done in that past to make them cheaper. Mine had $5.96 personalize pricing. I went and tested the deal out and here is how it works.
Sale: Hefty Trash Bags (good through 3/13)
18 to 80-ct. Selected varieties.
-3.00 When you buy 2 or more = 5.49 ea Final Price with purchase of any 2 or more
Personalized price of $5.96
18, 20, 25, 28, 40, 45, or 80 ct.
Save $3. each wyb2 = $2.96
Minus $1. each with new IP on coupons.com (print 2) = $1.96 each (purchase 2)
FYI the coupon reads “4 like coupons in one transaction”.
I still had a few boxes when they were .49 but for $1.96 I got 4 more boxes!
sorynjeff2010 says
Tried the $8 toys r us coupon. It’s a no go peeps.
there is no pricing point spelled out on the q ;(
It also says on all detergents, not product specific.
And meijers policy clearly states this. ;)
Thanks anyway the excitement was good while it lasted ;)
soapboxtray says
Also the Seattles Best coffee indeed is a store coupons so you can (and I did) use the $1.50 off 1 or the $3.00 off 2 on coupons.com when I tried out the Hefty deal. It is not part of the buy 4 save deal any more just FYI.
I bought 2. Bare Nake Ed products (I bought cereals) has a catalina right now, $4. back on 4. They were on clearance at Doms and it ended up being a small money maker for me after the clearance price and the coupon on coupons.com of 75¢ off. Just something to keep an eye out for in clearance area. (keeps changing the word of the cereal on me :-) I tried to disguise it.)

Target has a $1/2 coupon on their site. Since Meijer accepts competitors coupons, use with the $5 off 5 deal.
cbear34 says
has a can with 20% more, purple cap, 8.4oz. Can is extra moisturizing with vitamin E. This is also part of the deal and rang up at $3.49. Only 3 of these were on the shelf this am at Third Lake CVS, 1 left when I left.
coupondad says
because there is a $1 cat printing also when you buy 2.
coupondad says
it is 1 deal of 5 per transaction. So please split
your orders if you want more than 5.

Chimichangas burritos on sale $1…are these for small individual pkgs? 1/27 SS Q doesn’t reflect a size and doesn’t mention burritos. The 3/3 Q says on 16 oz or larger $1/2.
kristaljewel says
Hi! I went shopping at Dominicks today. One of my first trips really focusing on coupons and I saved 55%! I was happy with that! Anyway, here is my question. When I was there I looked for the Betty Crocker Muffin mix you mention that is part of the buy 4 save 4 deal and I could not tell which one to buy. None of them had the tag stating they are part of the buy 4 save 4 deal. Did I miss something? Could it not have been marked? The cereal I bought as part of the buy 4 save 4 deal was marked on the tag.
nitasave says
On the Planters Peanuts at Walgreens, there’s also a coupon in the March booklet that you can stack, $1/2. So only $1.50 ea. if you have 2 mfg q’s.
crazy4coupons says
I can’t find the mars candy coupon on coupons.com. Do I need to use a certain zip code? It’s for the CVS Easter candy deal.
treydawgmt says
There’s also a $1/1 coupon of the Red Velvet Cake if someone is carrying them for $1 that doesn’t double or a store that price matches. Found it here – https://happymoneysaver.com/hot-11-duncan-hines-red-velvet-cake-mix/

I have been using the website for awhile now and love it! I have one question, how do you find a coupon in your stockpile if you go to the store and find a sale that wasn’t on the website? Do you have a list of all you coupons and what insert to find it in?
grandma g says
I was surprised this morning to receive an e-mail from Saving Star that I was getting closer to my goal! Turns out that the 2 All I bought at CVS went toward the $15 goal to get $5 back. I forgot about that and usually forget that not just Jewel, but also CVS and Mariano purchases count for Saving Star. So, since I needed it anyway, good unexpected deal.
naisula says
I meant to comment last week, (and of course the cereal deal at Jewel ended Sunday), but just to clarify, the $2 Kellogg’s coupon is $2 off JUICE when you buy 2 boxes of cereal… Not $2 off two boxes when you buy juice. Minor detail, but it means you can’t use another coupon for juice, but it does mean you can use other coupon(s) for the cereal! :)
Thanks for your work, love the new bullet points!

Elgin Meijer has the Carvel/Celebration Foods M&M ice cream cakes on clearance for 3.49. icecreamcakeland.com has $3 coupons (coupons.com has $2 Q). Some had Feb 2012 exp date, but there were many thru March dates. Not bad for a quick dessert!
dancingwolves says
Was going to purchase the 18 oz grape jam at Algonquin Jewel which was priced at $1.98 so with Q = $.98.
However noticed they have grape jelly in 32 oz jars for $2.19 so paid only $1.19. Seemed to be a good deal…more bang for the buck : )
