Hello, Super-Couponers! I hope everyone enjoyed the warmest and most beautiful Sunday that Chicagoland’s seen all year! We spent the day at Coral Woods enjoying their Festival of the Sugar Maples. We have gone to it once before, but it’s always amazing for the kids to see where real maple syrup comes from! In the photo below, my son is tasting maple sap straight from the tree. Did you know that sugar maple sap is only 3% sugar? It takes 43 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup, which they do right on site in the evaporator house. The best part, of course, is tasting the syrup once it’s boiled down… it was outstanding! (But it’s also eye-opening as to why the price of maple syrup remains high. It takes a lot of work and time to make!)

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load Jewel Avenu ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed, and the Sept. 2011 coupon policy is still correct for all stores. Watch your registers.
Here’s a deal on Di Lusso Deli Meat and Cheeses! 1/2lb. of Di Lusso turkey breast is on sale for $3.99. Use the manufacturer coupon for $1 off a half-pound of Di Lusso meat or cheese from the 1/29 SS or a printable (must enter Illinois zip code to view), and then look at the deli counter for a store coupon for a FREE 1/2lb. Di Lusso cheese when you buy a 1/2lb. DiLusso Deli Meat!
With both coupons, if you buy the turkey, you’ll pay $2.99 for a half-pound of meat and a half-pound of cheese – that’s a deal! AND, with two $1 coupons, use one on the meat and one on the cheese. Jewel’s policy allows you to use one manufacturer coupon on each item in a B1G1F situation, and this drops everything to $1.99 for both, or about $1 per 1/2lb. of meat or cheese! SUPER deal!
Several of my readers have emailed to point out that the ad and coupon do not specify what kind of cheese one needs to buy, so this is also a good opportunity to purchase Di Lusso cheeses that may be pricier than your basic cheddar or swiss…
AND, if you did the 2012 Jewel-Osco Freezer Deal, one of the coupons you received with your freezer was for a FREE half-pound of Di Lusso meat or cheese in the deli. Use this coupon to get a half-pound of meat, and use the store coupon to get a half-pound of cheese, and BOTH will be free!
Also note that the Di Lusso store coupon is limit 1 per transaction.

Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion
Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.
UPDATE! On 2/11, I received my A Taste of Home package. It contained the rice cooker, the “Latin Grilling” cookbook I chose, and a note stating that due to overwhelming demand, the tamale steamer will not be available until June 2012, so it will ship separately.

Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Load these offers at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
Meijer produce deals:
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, March 13th.

And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

The coupon for the Eight-o-Clock Coffee is $2 off 2 – not $2 off 1. So you can only use one couon per 2 bags of coffee.
momof2and2 says
For those of you that got the $4/4 cereal coupons & didn’t use them at Target or with another deal. NEXT WEEK the Chicago area Meijers will have Kellogg’s products buy 4 get $2 off instantly. My Meijer is a week ahead of yours. So I got 4 boxes of Corn Flakes for $10…save $2 instantly & the $4 q…made them $1 each! I also got 12 boxes of Crispix for the same price but the Crispix is part of the mail in rebate for the $10 gift card. So i will have paid $2 for my 12 boxes of Crispix!
Also part of the deal are Eggos. They are on sale 2/$4..buy 4 & they are 4/$6 Then there is the $0.75/2 q in this weeks RP which made it $4.50 for 4 boxes. Cheapest I’ve found waffles in a long time!
ktcat777 says
Just an FYI, the Eight O’Clock Coffee coupon is $2 off of 2, not 1, so only one coupon can be used on this deal. So, $5.29 for 2 bags, or about $2.65 each. Still a good price for coffee! :)
TeeKay1972 says
Did I miss something or is the Pampers deal at CVs listed wrong.
I thought you needed to purchase $30 to trigger the $10 gift card. your items only total $22 before coupons. i did this today with two packs of Pamper Swaddlers – using 2 $1.50 printed q’s and one package of baby dry with another 1.50 q and a package of wipes with a .75 q I had. Comes out to $31.50 before q’s, and 26.25 after then a $10 ECB – and it printed as an ECB not a gift card… so $16.25 for three diapers and wipes.
nenshiya81 says
I went to my wags today to do the Coke deal and they had a sign in the aisle that promoted 6/$10 12-packs. Despite the “limit 3” wording, you can buy 6 for $20 and get the $10 register reward, making each 12-pack $1.67!

I think I got to excited about the good deal and read the tag wrong at Jewel! LOL! Sorry for the confusion.

I read about this deal a couple of weeks ago. The Right Guard Body wash is B1G1 ($4.49 each). If you printed the $3 off 2 coupon from 2-3 weeks ago, use two of these and brings the price down. So, this is what I did:
2 Right Guard = $4.49*2 = $8.98
2 Right Guard = $0 (B1G1)
2 – $3 off 2 coupon = $6.00
Total after coupons for 4 Right Guard Body Washes: $2.98 and got a $4 RR ($1.02 MM).

I bought one this year too and was hoping to see some of the freezer deals posted. Does Target accept manufacturer coupons with another store logo?
When I was at Target yesterday doing the deal for Simply Orange Juice, I grabbed a Jewel catalina for a $1 which was a manufacturer coupon. This coupon brought down the price to $1 once you added the $1 Target coupon. I just wanted to know if this was a fluke or do they truly accept them.
The policy for Target says it does not accept coupons from other stores but it does not specify store or manufacturer coupon. Any thoughts? It would be great if they did.

I see these coupons – for example the one for the GM cereal for the Dominicks deals are from Coupon Network. I see these coupons are not the standard UPC A that we all have seen for years and there are no numbers under these Coupon networks either. I tried using these new type of coupons at Meijer last week while buying Country Crock deal and the cashier could not get these to scan – 2 different days, 2 different registers – and since there were no numbers under the bar codes, they had no idea how to enter them.
Anyone else having theses not scan? And if so what has been the outcome?

If you do the deal at Dominick’s, make sure you ring up the Frosted Flakes first. If you ring up the Raisin Bran first, then the FF will cost $2.49 – the RB is $1.99 with Super Coupon. I did this today and couldn’t figure out why that happened. It’s only 50 cents different, but you know 50 cents is 50 cents. ;)

My Jewel also would not accept my freezer deal coupon for the free meat with my free cheese. They said the reason was that they are both store coupons. It was 5:30 p.m. and a line forming behind me with impatient shoppers so just accepted the response from the cashier and paid for the meat and my other groceries. Bummed.

I went to Meijer in Algonquin today to get some of the deals shown on couponmom.com. I was specifically looking for the Prego pasta sauce deal, the Kellogg’s Eggo waffles and the Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts (which aren’t even in their list anymore). None of those items were on sale or showed the prices listed on couponmom.com and for the Prego you were supposed to get garlic bread free when buying 3 and Meijer is usually very good at putting a tag on the items to tell you about it.
Has anyone tried to get these deals at another store so it maybe is a regional thing? Thanks for letting me know.

I was @ Meijer(Rolling Meadows) last night and found ground sirloin beef for $1.99/lb. I dont know if this was advertised sale or not. I haven’t seen hamburger that cheap in months! :-) I’m stocked up now Yeah. Still plenty left.

Just want to know if the Centrum Pronutrients can be used for the regular centrum vitamins at CVS. I tried doing the deal at cvs and they wont accept the coupons.
