This week’s already off to a start with some fantastic deals! A big welcome to our new Super-Couponers from this past week’s classes in Mount Prospect, Glen Ellyn, and Lake in the Hills, and of course the many listeners from Johnny B’s show as well…
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday.
Starting at Dominick’s, they’ve got a great deal going on frozen foods as part of their Chill Out promotion. Spend $25 on selected frozen foods and get a $10 Catalina good for your next purchase of frozen food. The best part of these deals? That $25 total is PRE-COUPON, so of course we’re going to use lots of coupons to reduce our out-of-pocket total :)
As always, there are a LOT of items in this deal (even more than are in the ad) and just for my blog readers, I cruised the aisles of my local Dominick’s and compiled a list of things tagged for the deal and their sale prices over in the Forum! Now, you can mix and match just about whatever you want, but here’s a potential order that you could do:
(Note: Dominick’s takes expired coupons, so when there are expired coupons applicable for the deal, I’ve listed them too)
3 boxes Eggo waffles ($1.77, minus coupons: $1 off 2 – 12/14 RP, 9/21 RP, 8/3 KL .75 off 1 – 12/14 RP, .55 off 1 – 9/21 RP.)
Birdseye Steamfresh Meal for Two ($7.99, minus coupons: $1.50 off 1 – 11/2 SS, 10/12 SS – plus use with following Steamfresh item…)
Birdseye Steamfresh Vegetables or Rice ($2, minus coupons: FREE Steamfresh with purchase of Steamfresh Meal for Two – 2/8 SS)
Contessa frozen meal ($4.99, minus coupon: $2 off Contessa – Redplum.com – under RedPlum Exclusives)
2 Pepperidge Farm frozen bread ($2.50 each, minus coupons: $1 off 2 and .40 off 1 – 1/18 SS)
With the above order, your pre-coupon total will be $25.29 – but you’ll actually pay $8.25 less after coupons… so you will pay $17.04 for your food… and get $10 back for your next order! That’s a lot of food for $7.04 :)
Other good items to mix and match in the deal:
Edy’s Ice Cream ($2.99, minus coupon: $1 off Edys – Nov. All You)
Hot Pockets / Lean Pockets ($2.50, minus coupons: .40 off 1 – Jan. All You, $1 off 2, 9/28 RP)
PictSweet Steamable meals ($2.99, minus coupons: $1 off 2 peelies on product or in 11/2 RP)
TaiPei frozen meals ($2.50, minus coupon: $1 off 2 – 3/1 RP)
And, the bonus… you can take the $10 Catalina coupon you get for buying your first order and use it to help pay for a second round of $25 worth of foods in the deal… and you’ll get another $10 Catalina! I love these kinds of deals :)
Before you go to Dominicks, do you visit PGEsaver.com and load up the electronic coupons to your Dominick’s Fresh Values card? You should, because if you’re also making a trip for frozen food, you can also get a FREE razor… but not only will it be free, they’ll pay YOU almost $2 to take it home! PGEsaver.com has a $2 off any Gillette Venus razor coupon that you can load to your card. Stack this with the $2 off Gillette Venus razor coupon in 2/8 PG and/or 3/1 PG… and use it to purchase the Gillette Venus razor that is currently on clearance for $2.09 (it is the “basic” razor in a blue cardboard package and is UPC # 0 47400 14036 3.) Thanks to Bargain Babe in our Forum for this tip! If you add this razor in with your frozen food, that coupon overage of $1.91 will help bring your frozen total down even more too!
Still at Dominick’s, don’t forget to pick up these cheapies too… the front page of the current flier has a store coupon that will give you a box of Kellogg’s Raisin Bran or Frosted Mini-Wheats for .99. Pair this with the .70 off Kellogg’s cereal coupon from 2/22 and take the cereal home for just .29!
And STILL at Dominick’s (Are you surprised? After weeks of barely a blip on my deal radar, I too was stunned at how many deals Doms has this week!) there’s another coupon in the flier to get a pound of Lucerne butter for just .99, and another coupon for a FREE 2-liter of 7-UP or A&W! Why not pick these up too?
Heading over to Jewel, pick up some FREE South Beach cereal bars! South Beach bars are on sale again for $3 a box. Load up your Avenu discounts, which has $1.50 off each box. Head over to Kraft’s website and print two $2 coupons for South Beach cereal bars! You’ll take home 2 boxes for FREE… plus $1 in overage! This deal comes up pretty often, so if you haven’t already printed these coupons, grab them this week and enjoy your free snacks!
Still at Jewel, there are a bunch of yogurts on sale! Almost all of these coupons appear in this past Sunday’s paper too — a rare bonus week when they line up to a good sale! Dannon Activia, Dannon DanActive, Dannon Light and Fit, Danimals Crush, AND Danimals Drinkable are all on sale for $2 a pack. There are $1 coupons for almost all of these in 3/1 SS, and Coupons.com has a printable for .75 off the Light and Fit too. That brings this down to $1 a pack, or a quarter a cup, or less in most cases, which is a fantastic price for yogurt!
And still at Jewel, Zone nutrition bars are on sale for .79-$1 (depending on flavor.) Use the $1 coupon from 3/1 SS and take one home for FREE!
Want another freebie? Certain varieties of Infusium shampoo (“Volumologie” is one) are on clearance for $2.49. Use the $3 coupon from 3/1 and pick this up for FREE too with possible overage!
Note: Yes, there are good Catalina deals running on both ConAgra and Pepsico/P&G at Jewel this week too. With the blog down for most of the day, I have honestly not had time to work these deals out. Please feel free to post your matchups in the Forum for both deals, which run through 3/4.
Over at Walgreens, Vaseline Total Moisture lotion is on sale for $2.71 with a $2 Register Reward when you buy one bottle. Use the .55 coupon from 1/18 RP, pay $2.16, and get a $2 RR! Your lotion will cost just .15!
Walgreens also has an awesome RR deal going on Johnson & Johnson’s baby products. My Forum regulars have been all over this deal too, posting a fabulous list of scenarios and matchups, and again, with the hectic day dealing with getting the blog back up, I’ll defer to them, as I don’t think I could have written it up better :) Head over to the Forum… you’ll be taking home $25 worth of J&J product for $1!
Over at CVS, did you miss getting your FREE “expensive” razor over the last 3 weeks? The mad rush on free Gillette Fusion “Gamer” razors left many shelves bare and many shoppers frustrated. Well, guess what… the razors are still on sale for $7.99. Use the same coupon, pay $3.99, and get $4 back in ECBs! FREE is good!
Lastly, I want to wish a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful mom, who is turning 29 tomorrow on March 4th! Happy Birthday Mom!!! :)
She really is! On her first 29th birthday, my darling dad gave Mom this fabulous t-shirt that said “29… and Holding.” Here’s to another year of turning 29! :)

Thanks for the shout out. Naturally, as “Queen” you’ve improved upon a good deal I found by luck and made it even better!
I missed some of those coupons you mentioned (am kicking myself for the waffles!) and didn’t use the additional $2 on the razor because I wasn’t sure how the Dominick’s registers would handle it. If it took another $2 off, great! But I was afraid it might automatically “adjust down” like they do at KMart during double-days, so didn’t want to risk losing a high-value coupon over 9 cents. It’s good to know that we’ll get overage next time around!
It’s just as well that I missed some of those coupon match-ups…I’d be stocking piling even more Hershey’s!! :)
And a happy anniversary to your mom…’s birthday!

frozen food catalina deal good for as well as the sale prices you have listed? I have an extremely hectic week (any deals on cloning?) so don’t have time to go to the store and research it this time. Thank you.

at Walgreens. Picked up the 31.8 oz bottle (original size was 24.5 oz but this had a 30% bonus) which was $4.11 used the 1.50 coupon from last month and did get the $2.00 register reward so I guess it works on the smaller lotion as well?

Hi. This is my first post. I’m new to this and just learning everything so please bear with me.
When I went to Dominick’s to do the freezer deal a second time, I was told that I couldn’t use my cat from the first deal if I was expecting the same cat this time. I didn’t argue, but I was wondering….is this right? or was my cashier misinformed?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I went to every Dom on near Nw side this am – 4 total. Had free 2 liter coupon, 99 cent coupon off Kelloggs Raisin Bran, 70c off Kellogg coupon and was going to get the Venus razor w/ coupon. With the Venus PG esaver overage I was going to get something small plus the butter for free (I was not interested in the butter earlier in the sale since Aldi has butter for this price every day but with the overage making it free I thought what the heck.)
There was no sign of there ever being a 2.09 clearance Venus razor at any of the stores. Not even an empty slot. ALL four were out of the butter. Three were out of the correct size raisin bran. The last store had the RB so I gave her the 99c, 70c and free 2 liter coupons and my 29c order was $2.23! Huh? I told her to cancel it and came home empty handed. : (
I can only figure that she rang the coupons in the wrong order and the RB rung at 99c. But another $1.24 in tax? It WAS Chicago and I can only assume we are always taxed on the full price not the sale price. But still. Not a good place for deals. Even got hosed on both the catalinas from the frozen deal last week AND the Ragu. No more Dominicks for me. Buh-bye!! Sticking to Jewel as everything has always worked for me there.
Hope others have better luck in their neck of the woods.

Just got back from one of our local Dominick’s. The Asst. Manager was our checker with one lane open. He was the rudest person I have ever dealt with in a grocery store. He was condescending and crabby over having to “deal” with my coupons. Made a big deal over the internet coupons and thought I was trying to “double coupon” the cereal. I ended up being .02 short on the $10 deal which just irritated me after having to deal with him. (I was dumb and rounded up in my head—Duh doesn’t work that way). By the time his little episode was over there was at least 5 people waiting to get checked out. Never been a big fan of “D’s”, other then a quick loaf of bread or Milk, but why bother when you get treated like that by the manager!

Hi, I tried to roll the $10.00 Dom. Freezer cat on another $25 purchase and it did not give me a cat. I went to Customer Service ,She was trying to tell me it was one per customer/ card- I told her the add states per Transaction- all of the frozen food was on the Dom. list. So she just gave me $10.00 cash back. I was Ok with that- but I will not do this deal again at Dom- not worth the aggravation/time. But loved stacking their supercoupons & free pop.

Jewel has 4 boxes of General Mills cereal for $6! You need to get the cereal that is on sale 4 for $10. Once you scan all 4 boxes you will get an automatic $4 discount from General Mills bringing your total to $6 for 4 boxes. With the coupons I had I got 4 boxes for $3.11….too good to pass up!!!!!
Not sure how long this deal will work…it may not work after today.

We like your deals so much but wow. Doms has to be the most coupon unfriendly store on the planet. What a hassel it was to get them to take them all. Jewel is much nicer.
