Ready for another week of great deals? A big welcome to our new Super-Couponers from this past week’s class in Skokie, and of course the many listeners from Johnny B’s show as well… (we’re taking a break from the radio segment this week, so the only place you’ll find this week’s deals? Right here! :)
If you’re new to the site, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon lingo and abbreviations. Unless otherwise noted, grocery store deals run through Wednesday of this week, and the pharmacy deals run through Saturday.
And, if you’re new to couponing in general, check out my Super-Couponing website for a list of FREE coupon classes and instructions on how to start using coupons effectively!
Starting at Jewel, as if we didn’t get enough cheap cereal last week, there is a crazy deal going on Post cereals this week! If you buy 5 boxes (10 oz. or larger) of Post cereals, you’ll get a $5 Catalina back for your next order.
Well, the following cereals are on sale for $2 a box:
Alpha Bits
Cinnamon Grahams
Honey Comb
Fruity Pebbles
Post Selects
And, the following cereals are on sale for $1.50 a box when you buy in pairs of 2 (MUST buy in pairs of 2 to get this price, but you can mix and match from the group):
Honey Bunches of Oats
Honey Bunches Just Bunches
Grape Nuts
Shredded Wheat
Post Raisin Bran
So… this is already a SWEET deal, but we’re going to make it even better with coupons! Go get these:
3/1 SS – .55 off Honey Comb
3/1 SS – $1 off any 2 Post Selects
3/29 SS – $1 off 2 Post Shredded Wheat, Post Raisin Bran, Grape Nuts, Nuggets or Flakes
For example, you could buy 1 Honey Comb, 2 Post Selects, and 2 Raisin Bran. Pre-coupon total – $9, post-coupon total $6.45. Pay $6.45 and get a $5 Catalina back! That’s a lot of cereal for $1.45!
If you have two sets of coupons (duplicates) this deal can be even better :)
If you buy any 4 boxes of the cereals in the second group, plus one box of Honey Comb. You’ll pay $5.45… and get $5 back! 4 boxes of cereal for .45… that’s less than ten cents a box :)
Note that the $1.50 price part of the deal does only work once per Preferred card. If you do it again with the same card, those cereals will ring up 2/$5, not 2/$3. So, if you want to repeat the deal, consider using your spouse’s Preferred card… or be aware the price won’t be nearly as low the second time around.
Still at Jewel, let’s get some orange juice to go with our breakfast supplies… :) There’s a fun deal going on Tropicana orange juice right now. It’s $3 a carton. Buy 4 cartons, and you’ll get a coupon on your receipt for a FREE carton on your next trip… as well as a Catalina for a FREE carafe of Simply Orange orange juice too!
We’re of course going to make this better with coupons! Clip these:
1/4 RP – $1 off 2 Tropicana Pure Premium
3/15 RP – $1 off 1 Tropicana Trop50 (50% less sugar)
Buy your 4 cartons, and use these coupons. You’ll pay $10 for your 4 Tropicanas… you’ll get coupons at checkout for a 5th carton of free Tropicana! What’s even better? At many Jewel locations you’ll also get a Catalina for a free carafe of Simply Orange! That’s 6 orange juices for $10… a very good price :) Note: You MUST do this one at the regular (not self-check) lane to get the coupon for the free Tropicana.
(Note: The Simply Orange promo varies by store. This post contains info on where it’s working and isn’t, so we can help each other scout out the best places to buy.
Still at Jewel, Ronzoni Bistro pasta meals are B1G1F. Use the B1G1F coupon from 2/8 SS and you will buy NONE and get TWO free! :)
Over at Dominick’s, there’s a big “Buy 10, save $5” promo running on a bunch of things. You can mix and match anything tagged for the promo in the list, and when you buy 10 of them, $5 is automatically deducted from the total.
Want some fun things to buy with this sale?
Bertolli bagged pasta sauces: They’re $2 a pouch. Buy 10 pouches ($20) and $5 is automatically deducted from the total, making them $15. Pay $15 and get a $2 Catalina off your next order for every 2 you bought… so you’ll pay $15 and get $10 back! That’s just .50 a pouch…
Ice Mountain Aquapods bottled water: They’re $2 an 8-pack. Buy 10 ($20) and $5 is automatically deducted from the total, making them $15. Pay $15 and get a $2 Catalina off your next order for every 2 you bought… so you’ll pay $15 and get $10 back! That’s already a good deal, but 2/8 RP has a .75 off 2 Aquapods coupon. Now, pay $14.25, get $10, and you’re looking at .42 an 8-pack! If you’ve got multiple inserts, you can use more of these coupons, of course. AND, look for peelies on the Aquapod packages for $1 off produce when you buy Aquapods. I got some free grapefruits with my cheap Aquapods too! :)
With these first two sales, the shelves are likely to go crazy-bare on these items. If you can’t find 10 of each, remember you can mix and match (6 and 4, etc – but make sure they’re purchased in quantities of 2 to trigger the Catalina.)
So, if you need some filler items, these are good!
Kraft salad dressings: They’re $1.50 if you buy them in groups of 10 too. Use the $1.50 coupon from 3/29 SS to make these FREE.
Mott’s apple juices: They’re also $1.50 each if bought in groups of 10. Use this $0.55 coupon to bring this down to $0.95 a bottle. Or – remember that Dominick’s accepts expired coupons too! 8/10/08 SS has a $1 off 2 Mott’s coupon which will bring this down to $1 a bottle as well.
There are many other items included in the deal, but remember you need a total of 10 of them, in any form, to get that final instant-savings price. Have fun! AND, for my Chicago readers… remember that you will fall prey to that nasty bottled water tax if you get in on this deal, so take that into consideration before you load up on seemingly-“cheap” bottled water… (sorry guys, but I am all about the low prices & it’s worth noting…)
Over at Walgreens, there’s a pretty good deal going on Softsoap body wash. Buy 1 at $3.99 and get a coupon for a FREE bottle on your next order. Of course, we’ll make this better with coupons… Use the $1 coupon from March All You and pay $2.99 for both. Or, use the .75 coupon from 3/29 SS and pay $3.24 for both. (And yes, this deal was “rolling” earlier this week (you could take your free coupon, buy a “free” bottle with it and get ANOTHER free coupon – unusual for Wags! but this has been fixed and no longer works in this way.)
And still at Walgreens, if you didn’t get free Listerine last week, it’s still pretty cheap this week! Listerine is on sale 2/$11, and if you buy 2, you get $5.50 back in Register Rewards. 2/8 RP and 3/15 RP have $2 off Listerine Total Care (purple bottle.) So, use 2 coupons – pay $7 and get $5.50 back. That’s just $1.50 for 2 bottles of Listerine! Also, look for bottles with a smaller travel-sized Listerine attached to further sweeten this deal.
FREE stuff:
Free silicone spatula at The Great Indoors
Free roll of Marcal toilet paper – 3/8 SS
$1 off Johnson’s Buddies soap (under $1 at most stores – expires 3/31!) – 1/4 RP
Free Rimmel Sexy Curves mascara – April All You (currently B1G1F at CVS this week too!)

Loving the OJ deal! Do you know how long the cat deal lasts and if we can roll the free one into the next purchase of OJ?

Can you do the Post cereal deal only once ever or per day using your Preferred Card to get the 2/$3 price?

On Jill’s last Jewel deal for cereal, she said if you have double the coupons for the post cereal, you’ll get 5 boxes of cereal for $5.45. I guess I’m a little confused (I’m a little new at this :) The Qs say save $1/2. I guess what I’m asking is exactly what Qs am I using to get me that price??

Is anyone finding the single roll? I’ve looked at several diffrent wags but they only have the 4 pack. Thank you!

Went to Wags and was going to purchase two of the Listerines that are on sale for 2/$11 with a $5.50 register reward. The RR is for the “Advanced” in two flavors or Tooth Defense Mouthwash. The $2 mfg. coupon is for “Total Care” which the clerk caught and wouldn’t accept them for this purchase. The Wags I go to read them first and if they catch any differences, they won’t scan them. Has anyone been able to use these Total $2 off coupons on the Advanced ones?

No Simply Orange Catalina at Jewel in Melrose Park…bummer!

can you give an example of how to work the pasta sauce deal if there are only 5 or 6 of them left on the shelf? Maybe with the kraft dressing and motts?
Thanks!

Can you tell me how the $2 cat works? Is it only on when you buy 2 of a select item, or all items in the mix and match deal? If I bought 10 rice a roni for $7.50 would I also get $2 cats back? Thanks, I appreciate te help!

The Jewel in Niles across from Lutheran Gen is a no-go for the free carafe of simply orange. I did get the Q for the 5th carton of oj.

I bought the water at Jewel this afternoon, but the $5.00 instant savings didn’t come off. I asked about it at the service desk, but couldn’t find it in any of the sale papers they had. Is it anywhere in print so I can go back with my receipt? Or it this one of those deals that we are trying at our own risk?
Thanks Jill for all these great opportunities you are giving us.

Some of these questions are getting nuts people. How hard is it to read everything?? Ppl are skimming the deals and running to the store. The water is not on sale at Jewel! that would be Dominicks. If there were #2 Catlinas on every 2 items at Dominicks I think the deals would have been even extra great this week and it would say so but no it only says the sauce and the water so that is it.
Jill I am shaking my head here………………… I do not know how you keep ur patience with ur blog any more.

I got the water at Dominicks purchased 10 used four .75 cents off coupons and discovered the catalina machine had the red light. I asked the cashier if she could fix the problem before she ended my sale. Said no problem and discovered it was out of paper. Went to customer service and was told they were out of paper. I had to pick the kids up from school so had no time but now I have to go back to return and re-purchase….. but what a pain.

When I read over your weekly deals, I didn’t catch you mentioning the OJ coupon was at the bottom of the receipt. Thanks for mentioning it again in the other post for those of us who assume that all coupons are cats. Also, did the deal at Shorewood Jewel and no extra OJ Q (cat) just the one on the bottom of the receipt but so happy with what I’ve got. I stocked up and will be set for a little while.
I like to freeze the OJ in ice cube trays and put tooth picks in them. The kids love to suck on them like a popsicle and they get a little extra Vit C. We can all use that during this crazy time. They really like this during the hot months.
THanks Jill, you rock. I’m still amazed at the way you pull all these deals from the regular sale ads. I took your class in October and have saved sooooo much $$$$$ and have had a lot of fun doing it. This has truly been a blessing. I hope some day to be able to pull the deals before I have to look at your post. But until then, thank you for all you do.

Everyone is buying up the water as it’s a great deal…. I went to TWO Dominick’s this AM and both were out… Well one had Two on the shelf and the other had Three. I asked if they had more in the back and NOPE. Oh I could have received a rain check. But wouldn’t have gotten my coupons… So I didn’t do it. I might check one more later.. If I pass it.

did not work at Wags in Cary. Bought 2 and used two $2 coupons and did not get a register reward. I know I bought the right size because it is similar to the ones that have the tags on the shelf. The machine was working because it gave me RR for other items….and no I didn’t use any register rewards to pay for these items. Did anyone else have the same problem or which Wags in McHenry County did this deal work on the Total Care bottles?

Still at Jewel, Ronzoni Bistro pasta meals are B1G1F. Use the B1G1F coupon from 2/8 SS and you will buy NONE and get TWO free! :)
Above text from the deals of the week –
Confused I thought you only get 2 free on a B1G1F if you have a Q for a free item. Isn’t the B1G1 in the store offer the same exact thing as the Q – you still have to buy 1. THANKS!

I tried checking in other posts to see if this was mentioned, but didnt’ see it…so if I missed it sorry! While at Jewel today, I saw the deal on Nabisco crackers. Not sure if this is considered a good deal or not, but I thought it was…at least compared to what I used to pay for these crackers! :-)
I can’t find my ad, so I do not have the exact sizes, but if you buy four boxes of Nabisco crackers (Chicken in Basket, Wheat Thins, Ritz, etc) you receive $3 off your bill. They are on sale now for $2.50 each. Spend $10, get $3 off…however many of the boxes there had peelies for $1 off 2 boxes. So, I spent $5 for four boxes. Good deal or not? Then I see in the 3/15 SS, there are two coupons – one for b1g1f, and $1 off two boxes. I could have saved more had I used the b1g1f. Or if you have 2 b1g1f…you could pay $2 for four boxes, right?!?!?

Does the 2/$3 end today?

For those of us who didn’t get to use our $4.00 coupons at Walgreens for an Airwick iMotion because they were out of them, Jewel has them B1G1F. One is 9.99, if you use two 4.00 coupons you can get two for 1.99.

I just came back and bought 2 Ritz 15 oz regular and 2 boxes of 15oz of wheat and no $3 off my receipt. Anyone have any luck with this today? On other forums they say 3/23 – 3/29, but buddyn_1 wrote here about it on the 1st so I figured it was still good. Anyone know for sure?
jstub says
I see that the Post 2/$3 sale ended Weds; I got the Raisin Bran yesterday for 2.50 per box. Not quite as good a deal but still on sale. Did the Tropicana sale end Weds, too? They rang up regular price but I still got the Catalina (only for the free Tropicana, not for Simply Orange, too). Again, not quite as good a deal as it could have been but a good deal nonetheless. Is it indicated in the Deals of the Week which sales end Weds and which end Sat?
Michelleplew says
When is this sale over (the one for the 3/31 deals)?
