If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…

Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
Disclosure: I am a CVS ambassador blogger selected by CVS to represent their brand. As part of this program, I have access to CVS/pharmacy advertising and promotions prior to their public release dates. This allows me to thoroughly cover the store’s sales and ask any promotional questions prior to the beginning of each week’s sales. I am not compensated for writing weekly deals and matchups. I do not receive a commission for CVS products purchased through CVS.com. All opinions about CVS/pharmacy are my own.

CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog full Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

I just finished watching the Tresemme video. When I click on the link to print the coupon, I get a message saying that the coupon program has ended. Bummer!
nice2save says
The Tresemme coupon is for specific types of shampoo and condition. When I was at CVS today, those types were not tagged as part of the 3/$10 sale.

Am I too late, or do I just need a special zip code? Thanks!

I’m back from Jewel (went to pick up my delicious Kosher Coke order!) and spotted a few things…
– 2-liter bottles of the 7-Up, RC, Sunkist and A&W Ten pops are .99 now, NOT the $1.25 that’s in the ad. With the .75 coupon from the new 3/3 DR PEPPER insert, they’re .24!
– Motts Medleys juices are $2.49 at Jewel through 3/6. If you’re not picking these up at Dominick’s (where they’re a super .49 after the $1 coupon in the 3/3 DR PEPPER) $1.49 is still a good price for a 64-ounce juice.
– Many boxes of the Quaker Chewy and Dipps granola bars had .50 peelies on them at my store. I was able to buy the $1.88 sale limit of 5, as the only other coupon available for these is the $1-off-2 in All You. Either coupon drops them to $1.38 per box.

The Finish 45-pack tabs are on clearance at my Target in Colorado. They are marked down from $10.99 to $5.48 and come with a free dishwasher cleaner. They also work with the $10 off $40 in cleaning products and there is a $1.25 coupon in 2/10 SS. Even without the coupon, this is a fairly good deal.

Hi- I was just at the South Evanston location of WF on Chicago avenue on Saturday, and I noticed that Alexi potatoes were on sale for $2.50. There is a $1 coupon on mambo sprouts which Jill already gave a link to under Dominick’s, but there is also a $1 coupon in the whole deals booklet which is available in the store, or you can print it on line. Most but not all of the WF stores will let you stack coupons.
BTW- For anybody that lives near that store, they are doing an in store silent auction for Whole Planet Foundation. They have approximately 50 items you can bid on. The bidding sheets are in a black binder near the checkout area. Some of them are WF products, and some are local businesses. The auction ends on 3/6, and there were quite a few items that nobody had bid on, including a $50 gift certificate for Rolf’s auto care, and a pair of tickets to see Doctor John perform at Space. The opening bid for the auto care was only $10. I would have bid on it, but I have another mechanic that I love. Hope this helps, Nancy

I got an email today from Kraft first taste that had $1/1 package of Carving Board Meats. You can print 2.
Has anyone tried these?

Hi- I reported that the Nature’s Farm milk was on sale until 4/1 for $1.99, but I went to a different Jewel today, and it was not on sale there. The shelf tag said it was $3.49. The Jewel that had it on sale Saturday was the Chicago Avenue Evanston store. The sign did not mention that the sale was at this store only, and so I assumed it was at all the Jewel stores. I have seen other good deals at that particular store recently that were not on sale at any of the other Jewel stores that I visit. Sorry for the misinformation.

IF you are planning on using Target’s $1.50 off two M&M store coupon (online printable) and stacking it with the manufacturer’s $1.50 off two (1-27 R1) or either of Jill’s posted links …look for peelies on Rice Krispies for free Jet Puff Marshmallows when you buy the cereal and M&Ms as well!!!Ours were $2.89 a bag and I didn’t want to run to CVS today! I shopped at Grand Ave Target in Gurnee!!! Fun bonus! Best part?? My 11 year old pointed out to me!!! I was so proud!!!
Coupon Mom says
The Pantene coupon in the 1/27 PG expired on 2/28/13.

for 35 cents off should double to 70, making them only 30cents each!

Are the nature valley granola bars supposed to be part of the buy 4 get $4 breakfast sale? When I shopped today they didn’t trigger the savings. I already tossed my inserts in one of my cleaning frenzies. :o\ If so, this would be the first time in awhile that something register-wise has gone wrong for me there… Been really lucky!
Hamptons Mom says
On the CVS candy deal you would only be able to use 2 $2/3 coupons when you buy 6 bags so that would work out to $1 a bag – still a good deal. Buy 6 bags for $15 use 2 $2 off 3 (now $11). Pay $11 get $5 back making it $6 for 6 or $1 each.
