and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspaper to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations are in the process of updating their cash registers to a new system. If your store has updated to the new registers, and you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed, and the Sept. 2011 coupon policy is still correct for all stores. Watch your registers.
Pom Lite (16oz.) is on sale for $2. Use the $1 coupons from 1/8 SS1 or 12/4/11 SS and pay $1!
Fisher Boy Breaded Seafood (18-24oz.) items are on sale for $5.69, Buy One Get One Free. The 2/5 SS has a $1 coupon, and there’s a .75 printable online too.
With two $1 coupons, pay $3.69 for two, or about $1.85 each! And, head to Fisher Boy’s site to print a “Deal of the Day” coupon too. At the time of this writing, today’s coupon is a “Buy Fisher Boy, Get a FREE Can of Fruit!” The site notes other Deals of the Day may be for popcorn, juice, side dishes and more. What a nice bonus!
Dannon Activia Yogurt (4ct.) is on sale for $2. Use the $1 coupon from the 2/12 SS or the February All You and pay $1!
If you haven’t yet printed $1 coupons for De Wafelbakkers pancakes from their Facebook page, print them and use them this week. 18-60ct. De Wafelbakkers are on sale for $2. Use the coupon and pay $1!
I wish there was more to write home about with the “Buy 6, Save $3” sale this week, but other than the Ore-Ida Catalina overlapping the larger bags of fries, there isn’t a whole lot here, unfortunately. If you need ketchup, the 40oz. Heinz is $1.49 after the deal.
“No Coupon Needed” deals:
16oz. packages of Dutch Farms Bacon are $3.50
12oz. Old Orchard 100% Juice Cranberry or Pomegranate Juice Blends are $1.25
Carlita Refried Beans (16oz.) are .69

P&G and More “Spend $20, Save $5” Catalina Sale Buying $20 worth of the following products will generate a $5 Catalina! IMPORTANT NOTE: The ad states that your $20 total is calculated AFTER manufacturer coupons. Typically, despite this wording, the sales have worked on a pre-coupon total of $20 or more. However, it was explained to me that this is changing, and it may already have changed at your store. Jewel is in the process of upgrading their registers, and when the registers have been upgraded, the deals will work on a post-coupon total, as the ad says. If you know that your store has not yet upgraded, you can try doing the deal on a pre-coupon $20… but assume all risks if you do. UPDATE: The new 3/4 PG coupons have been added. Here are your products and matchups: 7-Up, Dr. Pepper, A&W, or Sunkist (2 liters) – $1 7-Up, Canada Dry, A&W, or Sunkist (2 liters) – $1 7-Up, Canada Dry, A&W, or Sunkist (12ct. 12oz. cans) – $4 Always Pads (14-60ct.) – $3 Aussie Shampoo, Conditioner, or Stylers (6ct. 16.9oz. bottles) – $2.50 Bounce Dryer Bar – $4.99 Bounce Fabric Softener (105ct.) – $4.99 Bounty Giant Roll paper towels (8ct, rolls “equivalent to 12 rolls”) – $9.99 Bounty Napkins (200ct. napkins or 50ct. napkin dispenser) – $3.49 Cascade Action Packs (16-20ct.) – $5.19 Cascade Dishwashing Detergent (75oz. liquid or powder) – $5.19 Charmin Freshmates Wipes refill (80ct.) – $3.49 Charmin Ultra Bath Tissue (12ct. double roll or 6ct. mega roll) – $6.99 Crest Toothpaste (4-8oz.) – $3.50 Dawn Dishwashing Liquid (19-24oz.) – $2.99 Downy Fabric Softener (41-51oz. liquid) – $4.99 Duracell Alkaline Batteries (8ct. Taste of Home FREE Cookbook, 5-cup Rice Cooker and 12-quart Tamale Steamer P&G Promotion
Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.
The form for this offer is online too on another store’s website. Several readers called the number on the form and were told that printable versions would be accepted.
UPDATE! On 2/11, I received my A Taste of Home package. It contained the rice cooker, the “Latin Grilling” cookbook I chose, and a note stating that due to overwhelming demand, the tamale steamer will not be available until June 2012, so it will ship separately.

Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Load these offers at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

If you have two coupons, they will cover the prices of the first two cases, and the other two cases will be FREE with the store’s sale, plus you’ll get a free bag of chips.
Now, you’d think that would be FOUR free cases of Coke, but Dominick’s puts their 12-packs notoriously high during this sale at $6.29 each. The Coke Rewards free coupons are good up to $4.99, so you’ll pay $1.30 each for your first two packs, then get the other two free plus free chips. Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
The current ad is good through TUESDAY, March 6th.

And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

If I buy the Prilosec and use my coupon, I should get the catalina. Now if I turn around and buy another Prilosec another coupon AND the catalina…. Does that catalina count as a coupon towards the Prilosec? Because if it did that means I won’t get the next catalina. Or do I have to save the catalina..Cause I am sure my Jewel uses the $20.. Pre coupon total….Please help!

Can you stack the 2 $1.00/1 Manufacturers Coupons with the Manufacturer coupon for the Deal of the day in one transaction. Also, the deal of the day coupon is for 1 item, can you use 2 of those coupons with the above deal?

I went this morning to Dominicks for the CPK deal. On the front of the pizza case was a stack of $1 off coupons! So each pizza was $3.49 with three coupons. PLUS a $3 Catalina from CPK. PLUS a $5 Catalina from Dominicks for frozen foods purchase. So, I think that’s about 83 cents per pizza!?!?!?!? Is that possible?

I’m kind of new to this, but I think I have a plan for going to Target for their ‘Buy 5 Kellog’s get a $5 Gift Card’ deal. I have (1) .70 off Raisin Bran w/Almonds, (2) $0.70 off Crunchy Nut, (1) $1.00 off Krave, and (1) $0.70 off Krave for the first transaction ($9.95 OOP). The second transaction will be my $4 off 4 boxes (Crunchy Nut- 2 different kinds, Raisin Bran Cinnamon Almond, Rice Krispies) and a stacked Target coupon for $1 off 3 boxes, along with a $0.50 off a box of Pop-Tarts Mini Crisps. I plan on using the first $5 gift card for part of the 2nd transaction ($3.00 OOP), which means I’ll only be paying $7.95, after the second $5 gift card, for 9 boxes of cereal and a box of Pop-Tarts Mini Crisps($0.80 PER ITEM!)! Can someone look this over and see if I’m missing something before I actually go to Target? Thanks!
bmf says
Is the sliced cheese 3 for $7? I saw a sale tag for something like $2.89. Also, in the scenario below, it says to receive $4 in instant savings, but the ad says that it is $3 in instant savings. So, with the 2 coupons for .75, it looks like the cheeses including the 2 sliced cheeses will be about .88 each? It would be 3 chunk cheeses for $7, 2 sliced for about $2.19 each. So, $11.38 minus $3 instant savings = $8.38, minus $4 Catalina for a total of $4.38?
“In the ad, Kraft shredded cheese, chunk cheese, cubes, or crumbles (5-8oz.) are 3-for-$7, or about $2.33 each. The easiest deal? Buy 5 of these ($11.66) making sure at least two are Kraft sliced cheeses. Receive $4 in instant-savings (now $7.66.) Use two .75 printable coupons (now $6.16.)
Pay $6.16 and get a $4 Catalina. That’s $2.16 for 5 cheeses, or about .43 per package!”
kwilson says
I was hoping for 2 $5 Cats based on my 5 boxes Eggo waffles and 3 pizza purchase, but it only gave me one $5 Cat(plus the CA pizza kitchen Cat and Free Milk Cat). The cashier said only one per transaction. So it wasn’t quite the deal I had hoped.
kwilson says
just went to the Arlington Hts Target. I didn’t have time to write down the kelloggs varieties that had tags indicating they were on sale. But the Krave is not one of them. I took them to the service desk to see if they would generate the gift card, but they didn’t. I didn’t notice sale tags under the Special K either. I bought HOney nut crunch and raisin bran. So bring a variety of coupons with you so you have flexibility. There aren’t a lot of varieties with sale tags.
