And, throughout the year, companies issue free coupon books that you can request to be mailed to you — register for them if you’d like, as I’ll reference them in future weeks’ deals.

That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. Super Chill 2-liters of pop or lemonade are on sale for $1. Use the SavingStar ecoupon for .50 off any Super Chill item and it’s .50 after ecoupon!

Sweet Baby Ray’s Marinades (16oz.) are on sale for $1. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 from the new 5/20 SS. You’ll pay $1 for two, or .50 each!

Jewel is running a “Buy 6, Save $3” instant-savings sale on Essential Everyday products. The least expensive items to use in this deal are the toaster pastries and fruit snacks (6ct., 5.4oz.) are $1 each when you buy 6. The new Jewel-Osco “Fresh Summertime Fun” coupon book has a $1 coupon inside for any EE item. This will give you one free, and you’ll pay $5 for 6, or .83 each. (Note that the Jewel coupons are limited to one per transaction.)

Want more? SavingStar has a Spend $10 on Essential Everyday items, Save $2 ecoupon! Now, this could go one of two ways. If the ecoupon registers on the PRE-instant-savings total, If you’re buying 6 boxes of toaster pastries or fruit snacks, you’re at $9 before the instant-savings is applied. Throw in a 7th box ($1.50 more) and you’re at $10.50. Get your $3 in instant-savings ($7.50) – use $1 store coupon ($6.50) and get $2 back in SavingStar savings (now $5.50.) and that’s $5.50 for 7, or about .79 each.

If the ecoupon works on POST instant, post-ecoupons, it won’t be as good a deal. And, SavingStar ecoupons take some time to show up in your account… so it’s up to you how you’d like to try the deal.

Can both of those stipulations really coexist?)

CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…

At my Walmart in Huntley, Sun Drop 2-liters are $1. Use the $1 coupon from 5/6 SS and get them FREE!

Angel Soft Bath Tissue (12 double rolls) are $5.37. Use the .25 coupon from the 5/20 RP, 3/25 RP or a printable. You’ll pay $5.12, which works out to about .42 per roll. (But Scott Tissue is much cheaper per roll at CVS this week…)

Walmart meat deals:

• Boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.97/lb.
• Pork spareribs are $1.98/lb.

Walmart seafood deals:

• 2lb. bags of frozen tilapia or swai fillets are $6.48 – that’s $3.24/lb., an excellent price!

Policies to know:

• Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
   
• With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
   
• With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
   
• Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
   

I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
