Hello, Super-Couponers! Grab your scissors and your coupon wallets, because we’ve got yet another week of great deals! A big welcome to our new readers from my Palatine, Algonquin, Roscoe and Loves Park classes this past week! (And, incidentally, it was a pleasure to teach in the Rockford area, as this Coupon Queen spent her lunch hour double-couponing at Hilander. Oh, the damage I could do if we had double coupons every day in Chicagoland!)
This week’s newspaper contained three coupon inserts: SmartSource (SS), RedPlum (RP), and Procter and Gamble (PG). Ready for your best Deals of the Week? You may enjoy CHEAP 100% Welch’s juice, FREE yogurt, FREE Motrin, FREE nutrition bars, CHEAP or FREE Tabasco sauce, FREE or CHEAP taco seasonings, FREE Raisin Bran, CHEAP Dial soap, CHEAP tortillas, CHEAP Silk soymilk, FREE Windex, FREE Scrubbing Bubbles, FREE cream cheese, CHEAP fabric softener, FREE Coffee-Mate, FREE deodorant, FREE Nivea body wash… But before we get started, I want to remind you that this Saturday, May 8th, is “Stamp Out Hunger” day. Postal carriers around the nation are helping collect food for area food pantries. If you’re even a casual reader of my blog, you probably know that food pantries are a cause that’s very dear to me. If you’ve enjoyed these deals for any length of time and are in a position to do so, please consider leaving a bag of food at your mailbox on Saturday to help those in need. Your postal carrier will pick it up! It’s as easy as that! Now, let’s get started! (Print: , Email:, or, jump directly to comments on this week’s deals…) |
Things I picked up during my Hilander shopping spree… grand total $3.16 for everything shown! |

- Dannon Activia yogurt 4-packs are on sale for $2. Buy 2 and get a $2 YourBucks Catalina back! Make it better by using a $1 coupon on each package (5/2 SS 3/28 SS2, printable, printable)- pay $2 for 2 and get $2 back. FREE YOGURT!

Organic Valley organic milk is on sale for $3.49 a half-gallon. Use this .75 off 2 printable, buy 2, and pay $6.23, or $3.11 each. (Not great, but not bad either. Can’t wait until June for better organic milk prices, as June is “Dairy Month…”)
Here’s a deal on Old El Paso products. Buy any 6 Old El Paso and get a Catalina for $3 off Chicken or Beef. With sales like these, we typically want to use the LEAST expensive items in the sale to maximize the sale! That item? Taco/burrito/fajita seasoning packets. They’re .69 each — buy 6, pay $4.14 and get a $3 Catalina back for meats!
Use coupons to make this even better… here’s a .60 off 2 coupon (print 2!) With 2 coupons, pay $2.94 and get $3 back! FREE Old El Paso! With a third coupon (Target’s site has another .60 off 2 manufacturer printable) pay $2.24 and get $3 back. An even better moneymaker! Buy 2 bottles Tide laundry detergent ($10.99 each)

A Cascade, Charmin and Febreze Air scenario
Buy 3 Cascade detergents ($3.99 each)
Buy 1 Charmin ($6.99)
Buy 1 Febreze Air Effects (2.79 each)
Use three .50 Cascade coupons, one $1 Charmin coupon and 1 $1 Air Effects coupon
Pay $18.25 and get $5 back plus 5 Redbox rentals. That’s $13.25 for all that… consider that the Cascade alone was almost $4 each ($12) before we started!
“Try Something New” $12/$4 Catalina Deal (through 5/12) Purchase $12 worth of included frozen products and get a $4 Catalina! Here are your products and matchups. I collected prices at Huntley on 5/2, so your store may vary slightly: Edy’s Fruit Bars Coupons: Edy’s Ice Cream (any) Coupons: Eskimo Pies Frosty Paws ice cream for dogs Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream or Bars – any size Coupons: Nestle Dibs (any) Coupons: Nestle Drumsticks Coupons: Skinny Cow Coupons: |
In looking at this, with this Catalina sale ending on May 12, if some of these products that the freezer deal coupons line up to DON’T go on sale B1G1F, I’d advise using your FREE freezer coupons for Edy’s and Skinny Cow as part of this deal – while you might not be able to double-up product wise, you WILL get a Catalina back and be able to work MORE cheap/free ice cream into the deal, and that’s always nice too :)
Here’s a possible scenario, if you’re bugs to use yours up and want cheap ice cream NOW! :)
Buy 1 Snack Size Edy’s ($1) – use freezer coupon
Buy 1 Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches ($3.99) – use freezer coupon
Buy 1 Dibs ($2.99) – use $1 coupon
Buy 2 Edy’s fruit bars ($2.49 each) – use $1-off-2 coupon
Pre-coupon total: $12.96
Post-coupon total: $5.97
Pay $5.97 and get $4 back. Lots of frozen treats for $1.97!
OR…
Buy 1 Snack Size Edy’s ($1) – use freezer coupon
Buy 1 Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches ($3.99) – use freezer coupon
Buy 3 Haagen-Dasz OR Edy’s snack size cups ($3) – use $1-off-3 coupon for either
Buy 2 Edy’s fruit bars ($2.49 each) – use $1-off-2 coupon
Pre-coupon total: $12.97
Post-coupon total: $5.98
Pay $5.98 and get $4 back. And there you go :)
FREEZER DEAL MATCHUPS: If you did the 2010 Jewel Freezer Deal and are watching and waiting for Buy One, Get One Free sales to maximize your freezer coupons, Floresta frozen pastas (ravioli, tortellini) is currently on sale Buy One, Get One Free through May 9th! Use your coupon for one free bag and go get TWO! Deans Churn Ice Cream tubs are also still B1G1F through May 16th! Get two free!
We’ll be keeping track of the B1G1F sales for the freezer coupons in this Forum discussion.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Post Raisin Bran is on sale for $1.99. Use this $2 coupon and it’s FREE!
3-packs of Dial bar soap are on sale for .99. Use the .35 coupon from 3/7 RP and take them home for .64! Prefer pump soap? Dial Complete Foaming Hand Soap is the same price – use the same coupon here instead, and it’s .64 too!
Dannon Dan-O-Nino kids’ yogurts are on sale for $2 for a 6-cup pack. Use this $1 printable and take these home for $1! The 5/2 SS has a $1-off-2 coupon if you want to stock up on more, albeit at a slightly higher price. Same deal runs on DanActive too (coupon locations are the same as well.)
The Scott paper products Catalina continues through 5/16, and it’s pretty easy – receive a Catalina when you buy from any two, three or four DIFFERENT Scott paper product categories.
Product categories include: Scott bath tissue, Scott paper towels, Scott napkins, and Scott flushable wipes. (Scotties facial tissue is NOT included.)
Buy 1 item from each of 2 categories and get a $2 Catalina
Buy 1 item from each of 3 categories and get a $3 Catalina
Buy 1 item from each of 4 categories and get a $5 Catalina
Note, again, that you must buy one item from EACH category to qualify for the Catalina. Buying 4 rolls of paper towels will NOT generate a Catalina as they’re all in the same category.
We’ve already got some great paper products deals running this week, but this one’s not bad if you keep it simple. Easiest way to do this one?
Buy 1 Scott paper towel roll and 1 single-roll Scott toilet tissue.
Pay $2.68 for both and get a $2 Catalina back. .68 for two is not bad if you prefer Scott products.
Scott’s has printable coupons for some products, including $1 off Scott Naturals paper towels. If the Naturals are priced the same as the regular Scott, it could be an even better deal. May All You has Scott coupons too, though other than the wet wipes, they’re for multi-rolls
If you’re a fan of Jewel’s Wild Harvest line of organics, here’s your chance to take some home cheap or FREE! Print this $1 off any Wild Harvest coupon and look around the store — there are MANY Wild Harvest products that sell for $1, or close to it.
This week’s best bets?
Wild Harvest baby-cut carrots – $1.99/1lb. bag – .99 with coupon
Wild Harvest reusable shopping bags – .99 – free with coupon
Wild Harvest canned beans – $1.29 at most stores – .29 with coupon
Jewel’s house brand of diapers, Baby Basics, are a good buy with coupons! Jumbo packs are $7.99 each. Use these $4 printables here and here and cut that price in half… to $3.99 a jumbo pack of diapers! Jewel also has the value pack (cardboard case) of diapers on sale for $16.99 – with coupon, it’s $12.99.
Jewel meat deals:
- Fresh spiral cut half ham is .99/lb.
- Perdue chicken, drumsticks, thighs, or whole fryers are $1.79/lb.
- Jumbo split chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.
- Fresh cut assorted pork chops are $1.99/lb.
- Jewel is also running their “Fav 4” meat deal again. Usually your best bets here are to stick with meats that will work out to around $1.99/lb. in the deal.
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry, or seafood) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices.)
Jewel produce deals:
- Dole pineapples are $1.99 each – a very good price
- California navel oranges are $3.99 for an 8lb. bag
- 5lb. bags of Value Wise russet potatoes are $1.99
- Jewel is also running their “Fav 4” produce deal again. This deal is typically NOT good pricewise (most things work out to $2.50/lb, which is no deal – so watch what you’re buying if you do this one.)
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick’s deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals.
A few weeks ago (4/11, to be exact) SOME editions of the Chicago Tribune received a coupon for $5 off Finish Quantumatic dishwasher dispenser in the SS insert. (Other editions of the Trib got a $2 or $1 coupon for the same item — occasionally, companies will do this, issuing varying values of the same coupon, even in the SAME newspaper, and typically it’s because they don’t want to pay out thousands of $5 coupons.)
At any rate, IF you received one and have been looking for a place to spend it, Finish Quantumatic is on sale for $6.49 at Dominick’s for 12 loads. With coupon, you’ll pay $1.49. This isn’t really a fabulous price for just 12 loads of detergent, but if the coupon’s burning a hole in your pocket..! The only lower price I’ve seen on this was when Meijer had it for $4.99 in April (and it was FREE with coupon.)
(Incidentally, I think this Quantumatic is one of those products not destined for success, if you know what I mean. It is an automatic dispenser that dishes out detergent one load at a time. A 24-load refill costs a whopping $10.99! I cannot imagine many people paying THAT much for the convenience of not having to put detergent into the dishwasher — because, you know, it’s so difficult to remember to do that it’s worth $1 a LOAD to have a machine do it for you. But I digress :)
As usual, there are some Dominick’s Super Coupons* in this week’s ads too. Best bets?
- Mission flour tortillas are .99 each with Super Coupon, limit 10. Stack this with the .75 Mission coupons from 3/7 SS (exp), 1/10 SS (exp) or the 2009 Jewel Preferred Card Update coupon book and pay .24 a package! Look for $1.50-off-2 tearpads near the Mission display too — will work out to the same deal.
- Silk Soymilk is $1.99 a carton with Super Coupon. Stack it with the $1 Silk coupon from 2/21 SS and pay .99 a carton! Or, stack it with a .75 coupon (4/11 SS, printable) and pay $1.24 a carton! There’s also a .55 expired Silk coupon in the 1/17 SS insert too.
- 1lb. tubs of fresh salsa at the deli are $1.50 each with Super Coupon – a great price.
- 8oz. bags of Sargento shredded cheese are $1.69 with Super Coupon, limit 3. Use this .75 printable and pay .94 a bag.
- Windex is $1.99 with Super Coupon in the ad. Scroll down to read about the madness that’s possible with this coupon…
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Would you like some FREE Windex? (Of COURSE you would!) Windex is on sale for $3.50, but it drops to $1.99 a bottle WHEN YOU BUY 4 at a time (this may not be noted on the tags in the store though but it will ring up this way.) Use four $1 Windex coupons (3/21 SS, 1/10 SS (exp), printable, another printable, another printable) – pay .99 a bottle and get $4 back in Catalinas! FREE Windex! This deal runs through 5/16.
UPDATE! There is a Super Coupon in the current Dominick’s ad that makes the price of the Windex $1.99 a bottle. It’s ALREADY $1.99 with the instant savings, and many people (myself included) have received a bizarre amount of overage when using this coupon in conjunction with the deal. Hey – it never hurts to try!
Also note that some Windex bottles have .55 peelies on them. With four of these, you’d pay $5.76 and get a $4 Catalina back — but with the possible overage from the Super Coupon, it could ALL be free. At the very least, you’d be paying .44 each, still a deal!
Scrubbing Bubbles Power Sprayers (Extend-A-Clean) are on sale for $7.99 each. Use the $5 coupon from 4/11 SS and it’s $2.99. Now, print this Buy Scrubbing Bubbles Power Sprayer, get Refill Free coupon. (The refill is $3.50, but it will be free with this coupon.)
So, pay $2.99 for both the sprayer and the refill. You’ll get a $3 Catalina back for buying the sprayer and a $1 Catalina back for buying the refill… that’s right, you’ll spend $2.99 and get $4! It’s a moneymaker AND your bathroom will be clean! Catalinas run through 5/16 for this deal.
* Dominick’s cashiers often misinterpret the part of their coupon policy with regard to B1G1F sales in the store. Dominick’s policy states that you cannot use a coupon on the free item during a Buy One, Get One Free sale. However, this does not involve a B1G1F sale in the store — you’re using one coupon “per item purchased,” ($5 on the sprayer, B1G1F on the refill) and it’s both correct usage and not against their policy.
Dominick’s is running a “Buy 5, Save $5” on Kraft cheeses through 5/6. Buy any 5 Kraft cheese and save $5 instantly. As with any instant-savings sale, there are good deals and not-so-good ones, but here’s the hottest deal this time around:
Philadelphia Cream Cheese Minis – these are the individual tubs of cream cheese. They’re on sale for $1.49 each. Buy 5 and save $5 instantly, making these just .49 each. But of course, we’re going to use coupons to make this even better! The 4/18 SS has a .50 off coupon, 8/9/09 RP has a $1-off-2 coupon (exp.) and the “Make It Easy, Take It Easy” coupon mailer also has a $1-off-2 coupon in it. With any of these, your cheese is FREE (with pennies in overage!)
Look for a Blinkie dispenser near the cheese too. It’s got .55 coupons for Philadelphia inside! Yes, you read that right – free cheese WITH overage! Make sure you have some other items in your order to “eat up” that overage — produce is always a good thing to use! :) You can buy up to 4 rounds (20 cheese items) in one transaction for this Kraft deal.
If your store is out of minis, full-size bricks of Philadelphia are $1.99 – .99 each when you buy 5. Use the same coupons and they’re .50 each – also an excellent buy.
Snuggle fabric softener is on sale for $3.99 each when you buy 2 or more at a time (through June 30 – LONG sale!) Buy two and use two of the $3 Snuggle coupons from 3/28 RP or 10/4/09 RP (exp) and pay just .99!
If you go to Dominick’s, look for cardboard displays with coupon booklets in them. Dominick’s has been issuing a lot of these lately. 3 to look for:
“Serve up a Sandwich.” In addition to coupons for $1 off Miracle Whip, $1 off Grey Poupon, $1 off Ritz, $1 off Claussen, and $1 off Kraft Singles, there’s a coupon for $1 off any PRODUCE item with a $5 produce purchase. We love produce coupons. Note that these coupons expire THIS week, 5/4.
Make It Tonight – 20% off all Waterfront Bistro seafood products in the same transaction, $.50 off Safeway Select Artisan French Bread, $1.00 off Safeway Select refrigerated pasta or sauce, $1.00 off Eating Right salad. All expire 5/31.
Dominick’s meat deals:
- Pork shoulder country style ribs or pork shoulder blade roast are $1.29/lb
- Fresh Perdue chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.49/lb
- Fresh Perdue whole cut-up chickens are $1.69/lb
- Fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs are $1.99/lb.
- 80% lean ground beef is $1.99/lb
- Signature Cafe St. Louis Style smokehouse red ribs are $7.99 for a 26oz. package. Use the $2 coupon on Dominick’s site and pay $5.99 for 26 oz. – not bad this early in the season for ribs!
Dominick’s produce deals:
- Large navel oranges are .99/lb
- Broccoli crowns are $1.49/lb.
- Zucchini are $1.49/lb.
Don’t forget this is the last week to use the $1 off Produce coupon from the “Serve Up A Sandwich” coupon book currently on displays at Doms…
AND… if you have the 2010 Entertainment Book, don’t forget that there are four $5 off $50 coupons inside the front cover too. These have staggering dates (two expired in the first quarters of 2010) and the next $5-off-$50 expires 7/31.
If you haven’t ordered the Entertainment Book for this year, it’s also a great buy — Entertainment just reduced these to $15 each with FREE shipping! They do quickly pay for themselves if you like local coupons for restaurants, attractions, and even travel. Coupons I like – $20 off any American Airlines flight for up to 6 tickets, coupons for free weekend rentals for just about every rental car company out there, 15% off any Menards item (great for a BIG purchase!), $5 off at Ace Hardware, $10 gameplay at Dave & Busters and Gameworks, Buy One, Get One Free meals at TGI Fridays, lots of $5-off-$15 and $10-off-$20 restaurant coupons, B1G1F Domino’s pizza, free Auntie Anne’s pretzel, free Cold Stone Creamery ice cream… lots of good stuff. The Chicago book contains over $18,000 worth of coupons (yes, you read that right!) Worth checking out! Walgreens is still selling these for $25 each, so $15 is a great price.
*A note on Dominick’s Super Coupons:
What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (after Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals of the week for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, and St. Charles:
Coffee-Mate coffee creamer is on sale for .99. Use the .75 coupon from 2/7 RP and pay .24! But let’s not stop there. Buy two and stack that with a $1-off-2 Coffee-Mate Meijer Mealbox store coupon. You’ll pay .24 for TWO, or .12 each! With TWO manufacturer coupons and the Mealbox coupon, you’re in overage and enjoying some moneymaker Coffee-Mate! There’s also a .50 Coffee-Mate coupon in the 5/2 SS for more cheap creamer…
A couple of easy non-coupon deals: Meijer apple juice is on sale for $1.50 a bottle. Anytime juice is around $1.50/64oz, it’s a cycle low and typically a “buy” if you need it. And, this is one of our favorite store-brand juices — it’s not from concentrate and made from Michigan apples. Yum!
Meijer Grade A large eggs are also .88 a dozen – another good price.
Meijer meat deals:
- Pork shoulder bone-in Western style ribs are $1.19/lb.
- Fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts are $1.79/lb.
- Fresh pork spare ribs are $1.89/lb.
- Meijer Ground Chuck is $5.99 for a 3lb. flavorseal roll (tube.) That’s $2/lb.
Meijer produce deals:
- 1lb. bags of Bolthouse Farms baby-cut carrots are .99
- Fresh asparagus is $1.99/lb
- Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Jonagold or Braeburn apples are .99/lb.
- Bartlett or Anjou pears are $1.18/lb.
- ORGANIC Golden Delicious apples are $1.29/lb – a FANTASTIC PRICE!
- Idaho russet potatoes are $1.49 for a 5lb. bag
- California seedless navel oranges are $2.50 for a 5lb. bag
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES Meijer location, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the store is new, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.
For my Rockford-area shoppers (and Kroger shoppers too!) here are your Hilander sales for the current week…
It’s another week of great freebies at Hilander! (I’m excited to report that for the first time in a while, my schedule took me out toward Rockford this week, and I happily spent my afternoon double-couponing at Hilander and doing many of the following deals…)
2oz. Tabasco sauces (green and red) are on sale for $1. Use the .50 coupon from 4/25 SS, which doubles to $1 and makes this FREE!
14 ct. Prevacid acid reducer is on sale for $10.99. Stack the $6 electronic coupon from Hilander’s site with either the $6 manufacturer coupon from 4/11 SS or the $4 coupon from 4/25 SS. With the $6 coupon, you’ve got FREE Prevacid with overage. With the $4 coupon, you’ll pay just .99!
Mentos Gum is on sale for .99. Use the .55 coupons from 4/25 SS and 2/21 SS to take these home FREE!
If you didn’t use your U By Kotex $1 coupons from 4/18 SS or April All You (or printables) when the U By Kotex was free at Walgreens last month, this would be a great week to use them at Hilander! U By Kotex purse tins of pads, tampons and pantiliners are on sale for $1 each. (They’re little black tins containing 4 Kotex, for when you’re on-the-go and apparently require metal-encased feminine protection.) At $1, with a $1 coupon… they’re FREE! I found these near the pharmacy on an endcap display.
Yes, there are less Kotex inside than in the cardboard packs… but free is good.
Ortega taco mix packets are on sale for .73 each. Buy 2 and use the .75-off-2 coupon from 4/18 SS and pay .71 for 2, or .36 each! That’s two for less than the price of one!
Deals continuing from last week:
Speed Stick and Lady Speed Stick deodorant is on sale for $1. Use the .50 coupon from 4/25 SS, doubled to $1, to make this FREE!
McCormick Grill Mates spice packets are on sale for $1. Use the .50 coupon from the 4/18 RP insert, doubled to $1, to make this FREE!
Dial bar soap multipacks are on sale for $1. Use the .35 coupon from 3/7 RP, doubled to .70, and take them home for .30! Prefer pump soap? Dial Complete Foaming Hand Soap is the same price – use the same coupon here instead, and it’s .30 too!
Hilander meat deals:
- 12-oz. packages of Rediserve breaded chicken patties or nuggets are $1
- Ground chuck is $1.87/lb.

If you didn’t do the Scrubbing Bubbles deal at Dominick’s over the past few weeks, you might want to do it at Target this week! Scrubbing Bubbles Extend-a-Clean sprayer starter kits are priced at $7.99 at most stores. The 5/2 SS has a Target store coupon for a free $5 Target gift card when you buy the Extend-A-Clean.
Use the $5 coupon from 4/11 SS. Pay $2.99 and get a $5 gift card! MONEYMAKER Scrubbing Bubbles! Or, use the $3 coupon from April All You, pay $4.99 and get a $5 gift card. FREE Scrubbing Bubbles!
Now, before you go to the store, print this Buy Scrubbing Bubbles Power Sprayer, get Refill Free coupon. Why not get a free refill while you’re at it?
Have you seen those new Kleenex Hand Towels? They look like a cross between a pop-up paper towel and the “Rags in a Box” that my Dad loves to use in his garage. Anyway, they’re on sale for $2.99 this week, but let’s make them cheaper with coupons! Target.com has a $1 Target store coupon printable. Stack that with the $1 coupon from 5/2 SS and pay just .99!
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Target has launched mobile Target coupons which you can load to your phone. You will need an internet-capable phone to take advantage of these, and they are Target store coupons that you can stack with.
Kmart is running a “Spend $35, get $10” sale on Procter & Gamble products. I don’t think this one’s quite as super-hot as the P&G deals we’ve seen at Jewel and Dominick’s as of late, but if you need these things, here’s the scoop.
You will need a Shop Your Way card (free card at Kmart service counter) to participate. Buying $35 worth of ANY of the P&G brands shown in the ad will generate a $10 Catalina.
However… the last time they ran this sale, many readers reported NOT getting the Catalina if they were using coupons, which pretty much eliminates any reason to do the deal. Until I’m able to learn whether this is pre or post-coupon, I’m going to let it slide for this week. (Use the Coupon Lookup at left to do your own matchups if you attempt this deal — and please feel free to post in the comments how it all turns out!)
PLEASE NOTE: Kmart is no longer accepting the $10-off-$20 printable coupon that they issued a few weeks ago. While it does not expire until 5/22, they said after over 400,000 uses of it nationwide, they pulled it. Do not try to use it any more — all stores have received notice NOT to accept.
Drugstore Deals
Sure deodorant is on sale for $1.50 with the store coupon in the Walgreens ad. Stack this with the $1.50 manufacturer coupon from 5/2 SS and it’s yours…. FREE!
Nivea body wash is a great deal at Walgreens this week too (AND at CVS, incidentally.) Spend $15 on Nivea and get $5 back in Register Rewards. Nivea IS on sale for $4-$4.79 (varies by location as it is on a percent-off sale) at Wags, so use that nice $4 Nivea body wash coupon from 5/2 RP and it will be free or close to it. Use the “Buy One, Get One Free” body wash coupon from May All You. Add two more bottles, this time of Nivea Men’s Body Wash. Use the $3 coupon from 5/2 RP.
Pre-coupon total: $16 and change. Post-coupon total: $5 and change. Pay $5 and change and get $5 back in Register Rewards… cheap or FREE Nivea!
If you get multiple papers, you could use two $3 Men’s Nivea coupons and make it a moneymaker… pay $2 & change and get $5 back!
If you have four $4 coupons, buy 4 bottles of body wash. Pay NOTHING and get $5 back! Who doesn’t love free things?
As if we need more body wash deals…! But here’s another one. Irish Spring body wash is on sale for $2.99 with $2 back in RRs. Use the .50 coupon from 4/25 SS, pay $2.49 and get $2 back! .49 body wash…
Pert Plus for Men is on sale for $1.99. Use the $1.50 coupon from 5/2 SS and pay .49!
If you missed the big Kellogg’s cereal sale at Jewel last week, Kellogg’s cereals are on sale for $2.50 at Wags. Buy 2 and get $2 back in RRs! Use the $1.50 off 2 coupon from 3/28 RP, pay $3.50 and get $2 back! That knocks it down to .75 a box!
Dawn Hand Renewal is on sale for .97. Use the $1 coupon in the Home Made Simple “Decor Done Right” coupon home mailer and it’s FREE! There’s also a .50 coupon for Hand Renewal in the 5/2 PG insert for more cheap dish soap.
The Dawn is ALSO part of the “Spend $20 on P&G products, get a free 24pk of bottled water deal… in case you go crazy at CVS this week. However, none of the other items in that deal are particularly hot. I’d stick with the cheap dish soap and call it a day…)
Betty Crocker Warm Delights are on sale for $1! Use the .75 coupon from 3/28 SS or 5/2 SS and pay .25 each!
If you weren’t content with the “1 free Nivea body wash” deal at Target, this one’s for you. Rachel over at
The deal is this:
Buy 2 Nivea Women’s Body Wash – $4.88 each
Buy 2 Nivea Lip Care at $2.99 each
Pre-coupon total: $15.74
Use the $4 body wash coupon from 5/2 RP. Use the “Buy One, Get One Free” body wash coupon from May All You. Use $1.00 off Lip Care from 5/2 RP, and use the “Buy One, Get One Free” Lip Care Use BOGO lip care from May All You.
You will pay $.88 for 2 body wash and $1.99 for 2 lip care = $2.87… and get $5.00 back in ECBs! That’s one heck of a nice, big Nivea moneymaker :)
And, you know, if you’re a brand-new couponer who ONLY started couponing this past week, you could STILL do the deal if you got Sunday’s paper. Pick up a copy of the May All You on the newsstand ($2.49, though most Wal-Mart’s ring it at 10% off, for $2.24) – even considering the cost of the magazine, you’d pay $2.87 plus $2.24 for the magazine = $5.11… and get $5 back! NICE!
There are so many ways to work this deal. If you’re a multiple-inserts person, buying four Nivea Body Wash with four $4 coupons would leave you paying $3.52 and getting $5 back… MORE free body wash!
Depends are on sale for $6.99 with $6.99 back in ECBs… FREE! Make them a moneymaker with a $2 coupon – pay $4.99 and get $6.99 back in ECBs!
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the price scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

when I did this deal earlier today the Women’s 16 oz Nivea rang up $5.59 sale price and the smaller (about half the size) bottles rang up $4.79 sale price. Are they supposed to be $4? The ad doesn’t say, just says 20% off. I should have checked the shelf tags, but didn’t.
Thanks for the Deal’s! :D
Chill Geraldo says
So it is $1.99 a bottle when you buy 4. So that is $8 for 4. Use that store coupon and it subtracts $1.51 from 3 (a total of $4.53). Bringing your total to $3.67. Use 3 printables and a peelie to make it almost free. (There was an eCoupon on Dominick’s website too, which is now gone.)
Now I have run into some problems at various Dominick’s. The Carol Stream store is currently only accepting 1 Internet coupon per transaction. The grocery manager said the manufacturers are only reimbursing the stores for 1 coupon per tranaction. So be careful there as that does limit how much you can save. One cashier limited my printables to two in Bartlett. But the store in Bloomingdale is the one that is most friendly to the coupon deals.
I have noticed that a lot of my local stores are not allowing any overage, including the Jewel on an Oscar Meyer lunch meat item priced under $2 matched with a $2 coupon.
Chill Geraldo says
So they are $2.50 each. Use the ad to get $.50 off. Load a $2 off 2 coupon (shortcuts I think). Brings it down to $2 for two frozen dinners. Use a $1 off 2 and you have two frozen dinners for $1.
pamjpat says
I’m sorry I do not see the coupon for these in the 3/7 ss?

I knew you’d be double couponing on sat ;-) Fun times!
I saw a white tag by the scrubbing bubbles at jewel, buy one, get $1. National catalina?? Maybe I’ve missed it because I don’t have a doms near me so I never read those deals.
it was nice meeting you at SC2 last Wednesday! Thanks for all the helpful tips in this adventure of super couponing!

Jewel this week has both milk and Chips Ahoy on sale for $2.49/ea. They also have a coupon in the Wednesday paper for $1.50 off when you buy both milk and a package of Nabisco cookies. So, if all you bought was the milk and Chips Ahoy, you’d spend $3.50 for both which isn’t a bad price considering this is typically the cost of one of these items.
But, if you buy two Chips Ahoy, you could get the Your Bucks $2 back and the whole thing would cost $4.
So, maybe it’s not free but it’s not bad for two packages of Chips Ahoy and a gallon of milk.
(There was also a coupon on Nabisco’s Facebook page last week for $1 off two packages of cookies which brought my total down to $3 for all three but the coupon is gone now. Today only they have a coupon for BOGO cookies. When you buy 1 package and a gallon of milk, you get a 2nd package free.)

It has been reported that there is a double dip on Kelloggs cereal at Jewel. I did it the other day and have read that others have done it today. Should be over on May 4th.

Use 2 $1.50 off 2 coupons 3-28 RP or 4-11 RP
Pay $9, get a $4 and $3 catalina
$2 for 4 boxes

Aspirin and knee-high stockings are a good deal with store Q in Walgreens, too. They also have plain t-shirts for a $1. Very good for dirty jobs, when you can get them ruined.

Just went to Jewel to get the Mini Drumsticks and there was a little tag that said “buy 3, get $1.50 OYNO.” So, I bought 3, used 3 $1/1 coupons, and paid $8.97. Then, I got back the $4 cat and the additional $1.50 cat. So, 3 boxes of minis for $3.47 and I will be handing these out for snack at tee-ball practice. I did spend over the $12 I needed for the $4 cat by doing it this way, but it still worked out to be a good deal for me.

At Walgreen’s, some of the Bic disposable razors are on sale for $3.99 and there was a $3/1 coupon in the 4/18 SS and the 5/2 SS. I bought the BIC Comfort 3 Advance Shaver 4-pack and paid $0.99. Not a bad deal if you like those

I went to Jewel today and the cashier wouldn’t take the Nabisco coupon. She said to many people have forged them so she wouldn’t scan it. Also my El paso and welch’s coupons didn’t come out. But when I got home I received my $10 P&G gift card in the mail. So it wasn’t to bad of a day.

Hi everyone,
Welch juice didn’t produce Your Bucks for me today. Tried it twice with white grape and red grape 100% juice. Nothing. Maybe because I picked up no sugar added 100% juice?
While in Jewel,I also noticed Quantumatic Detergent Dispenser System is on sale for $ 6.99 starting today through May 31.
Your bucks offer, which is expiring May 4 or 5, has $1.50 Your Bucks for that detergent. So if you are the one, who has $5/1 coupon from 4/18 SS, you can get the detergent for only 49 cents after coupon and YB.

In addition to Irish Spring Body wash– Softsoap bodywash is also 2.99 with $2 in RR.
I purchased Softsoap w/ a $1 coupon (not sure where that came from), making that FREE after the RR!

I tried to do the Nivea deal at both CVS and Target today and in both instances, the cashier consulted a manager and told me I would have to buy 3 body washes to use the BOGO Q and the $4 Q rather than just 2. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this one of those things where it depends on which store you are in, who your cashier is and who the manager on duty is? On a positive note, at least I had no problem using the $4 Q to get one free at Target. Thanks for your help!

I’m relatively new to all of this and am LOVING the results!! Last night I did my deals at Jewel. I had TONS of coupons and was grateful there was no one behind me. ;-) Well, the cashier was really “detailed” and the coupons were ringing up under other names. So it took a long time to sort that out. Then the transaction completed and she handed me my receipt. I asked where the Catalinas were… the paper had jammed. Oh dear. She asked what I should have received and LUCKILY I HAD MY iPHONE WITH ME!!! I was able to go through my list against this site and get her a number. It took a long time, and I’m sure she wanted to escort me to the door, but it was worth the wait.
Here’s what I learned: Be humble and gracious. On your shopping list, write out what coupons you’re using with each item. If you’re working a catalina deal, block off each group, price each item and write down what you should get back.
Question for you all: Can we stack coupons at Jewel? The cashier would not allow me to. It was one coupon per item, even if they were different coupons.

If you receive the Flip.Clip.Save. Coupon Book in the mail from Target; there is a $1.00 off Target Coupon in there. Use this with the $4.00 m.c. and receive extra overage!!!

doesn’t work. The tag for the buy five and pay $.99 was removed from the mini cream cheeses so the price is $1.49. I tried it Monday and Tuesday and it wasn’t working either day.
Figure it must have ended Sunday? The sign for the bricks of cheese $5 instant off was still on those.

I signed up for the Your Bucks Catalina promotion and have been enjoying the kickback. I was sad to receive the e-mail saying the promo is ending this week.
So what happens now? Will cats still kick out? or is it just the Your Bucks that won’t anymore? I just started couponing a few months ago so I don’t know what life is like without these :)
