Hello, Super-Couponers and Happy Memorial Day! An enormous thank-you to all of the men and women, past and present, who have served our country and fought for our freedom. I hope that everyone has a wonderful day with their friends and families. As I write this, despite the severe Sunday thunderstorms in Chicagoland, the weather center clock in my kitchen is predicting a hot and sunny 90-degree Monday… fingers crossed! (And, all of the sunscreen deals we’ve seen lately will definitely start coming in handy!)
We have no coupon inserts this week due to the holiday (why not? read here…) But, if you’re a good Super-Couponer, you’ve got a large library of back inserts to draw from for this week’s Deals! And, before we get into the grocery deals, here’s a deal on CHEAP GASOLINE that we can all enjoy! This one’s been up and down over the weekend due to the demand, but if you’re a Discover Card holder, you’ll want to check it out. If you have $20 or more in Cashback Bonus rewards, log into your DiscoverCard.com account and browse the “gift card rewards” that you can buy with your Cashback Bonus. You may find $40 Shell Gasoline gift cards that each cost $20 worth of Cashback rewards. That’s $40 worth of gas for $20! Super, super deal. I had $100 in Cashback Rewards in my account, which I turned into $200 worth of gas cards! As I said, this deal has hit limits, then reappeared hours later all weekend, so if you don’t see it, you might want to keep trying at a later time. Many, many readers have written about this one and posted it on my blog, so thanks for sharing!
Now, it’s time for Deals of the Week once again. I’ve got all the best supermarket and drugstore deals of the week written just for you… all in one place, on one page! As always, grab your scissors and coupon inserts, and get ready to start clipping this week, as bunches of bargains and freebies are heading your way!
As I am based in Chicagoland, the supermarkets I write about are the major ones for our market. However, many of these deals will be applicable at stores around the country within the same parent chain:

- The Dominick’s deals may be applicable at Safeway, Vons, Carr’s, Randall’s Genuardi’s, Tom Thumb, and other Safeway-owned stores
- The Hilander deals may be applicable at Kroger, Ralph’s, Fred Meyer, Dillon’s, City Market, King Soopers, and other Kroger-owned stores
- The Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally.

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

As long as this still has print limits..! Reader Avenger spotted a printable coupon for $2 off a $25 purchase at Jewel!
Jewel-Osco information:
Jewel-Osco has a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there.
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too.
Coupon books currently found at Jewel:
Fresh Summertime Fun – Coupons for charcoal, meats and other Jewel items
Smuckers Ice Cream – has ice cream topping coupons for $1.25 off and B3G4th Free
Fresh & Fun Celebration – Small book with coupons for $2 off any 1lb. or larger Stockman & Dakota Premium Angus Beef package; $2 off any 1 to 2lb. bag of Arctic Shores shrimp, and $2 off any Hormel Party Tray (all expire 7/15/11.)
Smart Easy Spring Cleaning – Coupons for SC Johnson cleaning products (Windex, Pledge, Scrubbing Bubbles.)
Jewel meat deals:
- Chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.49/lb.
- Perdue 93% lean ground turkey (16oz.) is $3.99, Buy One Get One Free — buy two for that price, and it’s about $2/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- 3lb. bags of Vidalia onions are on sale for $2.99 – that’s $1/lb.
- Green beans are $1.49
- 1lb. containers of strawberries are $1.50
- Green seedless grapes are $1.99 each
- Tomatoes on the vine are $1.99/lb.
- Limes are .33 each
- Sweet corn is .18 an ear
- Whole seedless watermelons (13-17lb.) are $2.99 each, limit 2
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s (View weekly ad)…
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
NOTE: Friday, May 27th’s Chicago Tribune and Northwest Herald both had a$10-off-$50 coupon for Dominick’s. The coupon expires 5/30, so clip & use that if you’re planning a big trip this week. (In the Tribune, it’s in Section 1, page 20.)
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?
In the May 26-June 1 flyer – “Get Ready for Memorial Day” on cover:
- Oscar Mayer Meat Franks are .99, limit 5, with Super Coupon. buy two and use the $1 off 2 – 5/15 SS or a printable. You’ll pay .98 for two, or .49 each!
- Kingsford Charcoal Briquets (15.7-16.6lb.) are $5.99 each, limit 2, with Super Coupon. Use the $1 coupon from the Jewel Fresh Summertime Fun book or the current Jewel ad and pay $4.99!
- Safeway Hot Dog or Hamburger Buns are .77 each.
- Wish-Bone Salad Dressings (16oz.) are $1.19 each, limit 3, with Super Coupon. If you need salad dressing, use the $1-off-2 coupon from the 5/22 RP and pay $1.38 for two, or .69 each. Not the greatest price, but not terrible either…
- Safeway Frozen Potatoes (Taters, Sweet Potato Fries 22-30oz.) are $1.99 each, limit 4, with Super Coupon.
In the May 29-June 11th flyer – “True-Blue Daily Deals” on cover, “The Place To Save” on inside cover (inside flyer’s coupons are good through June 11, so SAVE that flyer!):
- KC Masterpiece Barbecue Sauce (17-18oz.) is .88 a bottle, limit 2, with Super Coupon. Use the $1 coupon from 5/15 SS and it’s FREE!
- Safeway Select Artisan Breads are .99 each with Super Coupon.
- Super Coupon for $2 off a $15 Rancher’s Reserve beef purchase
- Super Coupon for $1 off Waterfront Bistro 12oz. fish fillets
- 100ct. Safeway Freezer Pops (push-up ice pops in plastic rectangle sleeves) are $2.99, limit 3, with Super Coupon. However, if you live near a Menards, they have 100ct. Kool Pops for $1.99 with a $1 no-limit rebate… a better deal if you’re looking to stock up on these, especially with summer coming…
- AquaStar Large Crunchy Butterfly Shrimp 2lb. bags are $8.99, limit 2, with Super Coupon. This works out to $4.50/lb., slightly higher than I like to pay per-pound for shrimp… BUT, these are pre-butterflied and breaded, and they’re really good, so I’ll bite…
- Mission Soft Flour Tortillas (10ct.) are .99 each, limit 4, with Super-Coupon.
- Signature Cafe Salsa Fresca (16oz. tub) is $1.99, limit 1, with Super Coupon. Love this stuff and for that price, I’ll buy vs. making my own…
Dominick’s is running a 4-Day Sale that ends TODAY, Monday. Best deals?
– Coke, Pepsi, and 7-Up 12-packs are on sale “Buy 2, Get 3 FREE.” With pop super-cheap at Jewel this week, this is only a good deal IF you have two free Coke 12-pack coupons from Coke Rewards. If you do, use the coupons to pay for your first two packs… and get three more free! (Note that the Coke Rewards coupons typically have a value limit of $4.99, and the 12-packs are priced at a ridiculous $5.99 each this week at Dominick’s, so you’ll likely end up paying that extra $1 per pack for the first two. Still, if you’ve got the coupons to do it, $2 for 5 12-packs is good.
– Peaches are .99.lb.
Totino’s Pizza Rolls (7.5oz.) are on sale for $1. There’s a .40-off-2 coupon in the 4/17 SS1 and a .50-off-4 coupon in the 5/22 SS that will drop these to .80-.88 each.
Popsicle Novelties (17.5-38.4oz.) are $1.99 a box. Dominicks.com has an ecoupon for $2 off any Popsicle Novelties, which you would -think- would net you FREE Popsicles… but it does not come off automatically if you buy the $1.99 Popsicles. Good luck with this one if you decide to try it. (The Popsicles are also only on sale for $2.99 through 5/30.)
Dominick’s is running a “$2 off your shopping trip when you buy 4 Hallmark Cards” offer (through 6/21, limit 1 per transaction.) .99 cards are excluded, so your best bet here is to buy 4 $1.99 cards, which you’ll ultimately pay $5.96 for = $1.49 each.
Dominick’s has a “Savings Made Simple” sale going on P&G products too — buy any 2 and get $6 in instant savings. Of course, there are no prices in the ad, though all of the sizes shown are the super-large, enormous packages of Tide, Downy, Cascade, etc. While I’d normally go to the store and write these down for you, at the time of this writing, nearly every county in northern Illinois is under a severe thunderstorm warning… the sky is black, the rain is torrential, thunder is shaking the house… my little auto racing fans are fired up about the Indy 500 and the Sprint Cup on TV today, and it’s also a holiday weekend. :) Not anticipating anything super-great here, I’m taking a pass on price-hunting today.
The ONLY item that looks like it might have potential is the 10-roll Viva Paper Towels. They’re still part of the Viva Catalina sale (Buy 3, get $5 Catalina.) If you bought 3, you’d get the $5 Catalina plus $6 in instant savings. June All You has a .50 coupon, and Viva’s site’s got a printable here too.
If you feel like braving the storm to check this out, please feel free to post. I’m guessing these are at least $10.99 for the 10-roll pack. If they are, the math here would be $10.99 x 3 ($32.97) minus three .50 coupons ($31.47) minus $6 instant savings ($25.47) with a $5 Catalina ($20.47.) For 30 rolls, that’s about .68/roll… and this has been your “Jill estimates your savings without actually visiting the store” summary.

Meijer is running a Catalina sale on Suave products. Spend $7 on Suave and get a $2 Catalina! The nice thing about this deal is that the Suave Professionals are included, which there are coupons for. If you buy three bottles priced at $2.44 ($7.32 total,) use a .50-off 2 coupon to knock this to $6.82. Pay $6.82 and get $2 back = $4.82 for three, or about $1.61 per bottle.
For that price though, you could also get Pantene this week in Jewel’s Catalina sale. But, the Suave bottles are huge with a lot more ounces’ worth of shampoo and conditioner… your call.

Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

Readers outside Illinois will want to check with their local Kroger or Kroger-affiliated stores to determine how they handle coupon doubling.
Off to Target
(View weekly ad)…
Target’s running a sale on P&G products – buy any two shown on page 13 of this week’s Target ad and get a $5 Target gift card back. With these sales, the least-expensive items are where you’re going to find your best buys… for this sale, they are:
Downy or Bounce Fabric Softeners (Bounce bar or 240ct. sheets, Downy 105-120 liquid or 240ct. sheets) – $7.99
– $1 off Downy – 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book (home mailer)
– .50 off Downy – 5/1 PG (expires 5/31!)
– .50 off Bounce – 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book
With two .50 coupons, buy 2 Downy or Bounce. Pay $14.98 and get a $5 Target gift card – $9.98 for two is $4.99 each. With the $1 coupon, you’ll drop that to $9.48 for two. Unless you’re terribly brand-specific, we’ve seen better deals on fabric softener over the past few months (FREE Gain sheets, bargain Arm & Hammer…)
***
Puffs Facial Tissue (8-pack 56ct. cubes or 6-pack 124ct. boxes) – $8.99
– Buy 3-8 pack and get FREE 3-pack Puffs To Go – 5/1 TARGET
Now, this isn’t terrible if you need tissues. I like to see these much lower than $1/box, but the addition of the free Puffs makes this a okay deal. Buy 2 6-packs of Puffs (I go for the higher per-count here!) With two 5/1 TARGET insert coupons, buy two 3ct. Puffs To Go as well. Pay $17.98 and get $5 back – $12.98 for 12 boxes of Puffs is about $1.08 per box, plus 6 “free” Puffs To Go.
If you do not care about the Puffs To Go and don’t mind slightly smaller per-sheet-count, head to Walgreens, where Puffs single 100ct. boxes are .99 each with the coupon in this week’s ad.
***
Charmin Bath Tissue (18ct. double roll or 8ct. mega roll) – $9.99
– .25 off – 5/1 PG
– $1 off – 4/10 RP (TARGET STORE COUPON)
– $2.50 off Charmin Bath Tissue AND Charmin Freshmates Wipes (TARGET STORE COUPON) – 4/10 RP
– Buy Charmin, get Freshmates Wipes FREE – 5/1 TARGET
Let’s make sense out of all of these coupons..! If you have the 5/1 TARGET insert, these are the best ways to do the deal:
Buy 2 Charmin multipacks and 2 Charmin Freshmates Wipes: $19.98
Use as many .25 manufacturer, $1 Target store and Free Freshmates wipes coupons as you have.
With one set of coupons, you won’t need a second Freshmates wipes, so buy 2 Charmin and 1 wipes. Use one coupon for each. Pay $18.73 and get a $5 gift card – $13.73 for two Charmin multipacks is about $6.87 each, plus one tub of free wipes.
With two sets of coupons, buy 2 Charmin and 2 wipes. Use two of each coupon (two .25, two $1, two free wipes.)
Pay $17.48 and get a $5 gift card – $12.48 for two Charmin multipacks is $6.24 each, plus two tubs of free wipes!
IF you did not get the 5/1 TARGET insert, you can use the $2.50 off Charmin bath tissue AND wipes store coupon, but NOT the $1 Target store coupon. The Freshmates wipes are $2.49 at most stores, so your call on which way you want to go with this one.
If you’re not doing a bigger Pantene deal at Jewel this week, here’s a smaller one that’s pretty decent at Target. Pantene Shampoo and Conditioners (12.6oz.) are on sale for $3.79 each. Buy 2 and get a FREE Pantene Styler.
The coupons available for this make it extra-nice:
– $3 off 2 – 5/1 PG (EXPIRES 5/31!)
– $1.50 off 2 – 5/1 TARGET (STORE coupon)
– Buy shampoo, get $1 off conditioner – 2011 P&G Everyday Savings coupon book
So, buy 2 Pantene shampoo or conditioner ($7.58.) Use a $3-off-2 manufacturer coupon and a $1.50-off-2 Target store coupon. Pay $3.08 for two shampoos or conditioners AND a FREE styler – that works out to $1.02 each…
Or, head to CVS, where it’s .99…
Banana Boat Sunscreen is also an okay deal at Target. Meijer’s still got them beat on price this week, but if you didn’t do the deal there… 8oz. Banana Boat is on sale for $6.49. Buy two and get a $5 Target gift card. You’ll find $1 Banana Boat coupons in the 5/22 SS, June All You and the Jewel-Osco Summertime coupon book that’s in stores.
With two $1 coupons, pay $10.98 and get a $5 gift card back – $5.98 for two is $2.99 each.
SuperTarget produce deals:
- Green seedless grapes are $1.49/lb., but $3.99 for a 2lb. package. (??? Yes, the ad really says this.) WHY would you pay .50 more for the 2lb. package? Buy two 1lb. bags and pay $2.98 instead of $3.99!
- 1lb. containers of strawberries are $1.79 each
Target Notes:
Target has launched mobile Target coupons which you can load to your phone. They are Target store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with. Load coupons here. You can also print these offers by going to www.target.com/save and entering your phone number.
Remember too that you get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad)…
Before we get started, AARP members will want to note that through June 25th, there’s a special Register Reward deal running on Walgreens-brand products. Spend $10 and get a $3 RR! Remember to bring your AARP card to take advantage of this one.
WOW, is it an insane week of freebies at Walgreens! Get ready to cart lots of free stuff home this week, starting with…
Ritz Crackerfuls. The 6oz. box is on sale for $2. Buy it and get $2 back in Register Rewards, making it FREE! Reader Djade14 spotted a .75 Facebook printable too that will make this a moneymaker. HOWEVER… this item is in extremely short supply. Many readers have written to say that their Walgreens have signs up saying it did not come in and won’t be coming in this week. If your store has these in stock, great, but I wouldn’t chase the deal… gas is expensive too!
Several readers have written to say that regular Ritz and Wheat Thins are also generating the $2 RR, and they’re also on sale for $2. Try at your own risk…
A similar deal is running on IcyHot this week. It’s on sale for .99 (5oz. cream.) Buy it and get .99 back in Register Rewards, making it FREE! Use the $1 off any Icy Hot coupon from 5/1 SS1, pay NOTHING, and get .99… moneymaker! Note that the coupon WILL beep at the register because of the overage and will need to be adjusted down. Also, note that IcyHot is also in short-supply at the store level – one reader who works at a store wrote to say they got 5 packages. For the entire week…
And now for some “free after RR” deals that you CAN (hopefully!) find more stock of this week…
Applied Nutrition Triple Calcium (90ct.) is on sale for $10. Buy it and get $10 back in Register Rewards, making it FREE! (Please note that the June Walgreens monthly coupon book has a $5 coupon in it for SOME Applied Nutrition products, but the products on the coupons are NOT Triple Calcium – do not use this coupon with this deal, as it does not scan and again, is not for this product.)
BC or Goody’s Headache Relief 6-pack powders are on sale for $1.50. Buy them and get $1.50 back in RRs, making these FREE too!
Single cans of Illy Coffee (6.8-8.45 oz.) are on sale for $2. Buy one and get $2 back in RRs, making these FREE as well!
Listerine Smart Rinse Kids mouthwash and Listerine PocketPaks are on sale for $2.99. Buy one and get $2 back in Register Rewards! There’s a $1 coupon in the 1/9 SS2 for the Smart Rinse. With it, pay $1.99 and get $2 back, making this FREE! There are .50 coupons for the PocketPaks in 4/17 SS and 1/9 SS2 that will make these .49 after the deal.
Ecotrin Aspirin (45ct.) is .99 per package with the store coupon in this week’s Walgreens ad. Stack it with the $1.50 coupon from 5/1 RP and it’s FREE! Note that if the manufacturer coupon is scanned first, store coupon last, you should not have “beeping” issues with the register.
MORE free Right Guard?! Reader ChiTownTeach spotted a great deal on Right Guard deorodant and body wash. It’s on sale for $3.99, Buy One Get One Free. Use the B1G1F coupon from 5/1 RP and pay NOTHING for two! BOTH are FREE! Note that this coupon expires 5/31 as well…
Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste and toothbrushes are on sale for .99 each with the coupon in this week’s Wags ad. Stack this with the $1 coupons (toothpaste AND toothbrush!) in the 4/17 RP1 and pay… NOTHING! They’re free! Again, note that if the manufacturer coupon is scanned first, store coupon last, you should not have “beeping” issues with the register. Also note that these coupons expire 5/31..! There’s also a .75 coupon here
4-pack cans of Celsius Green Tea (12oz.) are $3.99. Buy the 4-pack and get $3.99 back in RRs, making this .99!
THROUGH 5/31 ONLY, here’s a deal on 75 sq. ft. Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil. It’s on sale for $1.99. Use the $1 coupon from 5/15 SS and pay .99!
Walgreens Jumbo packages of diapers are on sale for $5 each, already a good price. If you have the Walgreens Infant Care coupon book (began appearing in stores back in February) there’s a $2 coupon inside that will drop these to an incredible $3 per jumbo pack!
4lb. bags of Domino Cane Sugar are $2.19 each, limit 4, with the coupon in Walgreens’ flyer. Buy two and stack it with the .75-off-2 coupon from 5/22 RP or 3/27 RP. You’ll pay $3.63 for 2, or about $1.82 each – GREAT price!
Nature Valley Granola Bars are $2 per box (6ct.) limit 4. Buy two and use the .50-off-2 coupon from 5/1 SS1. You’ll pay $3.50 for 2, or $1.75 per box…
“Walgreens Store Coupon” Deals:
Puffs single 100ct. boxes are .99 each, limit 3, with the coupon in this week’s ad.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
Deerfield Farms Butter Quarters are on sale for $3.99, B1G1F. That’s about $2/lb., a good price for butter.
Ladies’ sleep tank tops and sleep shorts are $3-for-$10.
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
LAST WEEK: Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide razors are on sale for $9.89. Buy one and get $5 back in Register Rewards! Use a coupon to make this an even better buy… the new 5/1 PG has a $4 coupon for the Gillette Fusion razor. With it, pay $5.89 and get $5 back in RRs… and you have yourself a very “expensive,” .89 razor!
If you received the P&G “Have You Tried This” mailer recently, there is a $5 coupon for the razor inside. With this, buy it, pay $4.89 and get $5 back… FREE and a little moneymaker! WATCH expiration dates on the coupons too, as the 5/1 PG insert expires 5/31.
Coupon booklets currently found at Walgreens
Walgreens Infant Care – has a $2 coupon inside for Walgreens brand diapers, which often go on sale. All expire 12/2011.
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad)…
M&MS singles (1.08-2.15oz. packages) are on sale for .50 each. Buy 2 and get $1 back in Extra Care Bucks! You pay $1, get $1… and two are FREE!
Preparation H is a moneymaker after coupon and ECB! (Embarrassing? Nah… they’re paying you to take it home!) 10ct. wipes are on sale for $3.99. Buy them and get $3.99 back in Extra Care Bucks, making them FREE! Use a $2 printable, pay $1.99 and get $3.99 back.
Pantene shampoo and conditioner is cheap at CVS this week too. Shampoo and Stylers (5.7-12.6oz.) are on sale 2-for-$6.97. Buy 2 and get $2 back in Extra Care Bucks! Use the $3-off-2 coupon from 5/1 PG (expires 5/31!) and you’ll pay $3.97, getting $2 back. $1.97 for two is about .99 each!
Here’s a deal on Oral-B Indicator Toothbrushes. They’re on sale for $1.99 each. Buy one and get $1 back in ECBs, making these $1 each! The deal is limit 2 per CVS card, so buy two. Use the $1.50-off-2 coupon from the 5/1 PG (expires 5/31!) After coupon, you’ll pay $2.48 and get $2 back, one for each toothbrush. That drops everything to .48 for 2, or .24 per toothbrush!
Bic Soleil Shimmer Razors (1ct.) are on sale for $6.99. Buy one and get $3 back in ECBs. Use the $3 coupon in 5/1 SS, pay $3.99… and get $3 back! That knocks this to just .99!
CVS is again running a gas card promotion that will run for the next few weeks. Spend $30 on selected items in the ad and get a $10 gas card. You do NOT have to purchase all $30 in the same shopping trip, but you DO have to purchase $30 worth in this particular calendar week — it will not carry over to next week. Your CVS Extra Care Card will track the $30 for you.
Honestly, I’m not seeing anything crazy-good with this week’s sale items in this promotion though.
CVS Tip: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Here’s a little deal on Just My Size shirts! Many Just My Size shirts are on clearance for $1-$5 each. The May All You has a coupon for $5 off Just My Size apparel on page 14.
Buy a $5 shirt, and it’s FREE with coupon! Buy a less expensive shirt, and Walmart’s policy is to give the coupon overage, so you could actually make money on your shirt!
***
LAST WEEK! Ivory bar soap 3-packs are .97 each at Walmart. With the $1 coupon from 5/1 PG, the 3-pack is FREE!
FREE Gain Dishwashing Liquid: The P&G $110 Everyday Savings coupon mailer contains a coupon for $1 off Gain Dishwashing Liquid. Walmart sells Gain for .97 (exp. 6/30/11)
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.” I have heard from one reader who used a $3 Register Reward on a $2.49 copy of All You magazine and DID receive change, in cash.
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
Will I blog Walmart in its entirety each week?
I will not be blogging entire writeups for Walmart each week. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.
However, if there IS an ad with noteworthy sales or I’m aware of great coupon matchups, you’ll find those here too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Or, take advantage of the 30-issue “Campus Special” via this link and pay $1.33 per issue! And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

A note to you guys… I have been experiencing excessive server loads this weekend which have knocked the site offline several times. I am going to do some maintenance today and tomorrow, so please bear with slow loads and periods of downtime. You may want to email yourself a copy of this week’s Deals to have for reference. Make sure to UNCHECK “Send Only The Teaser,” or that’s all that you’ll get..!
And why does this always happen over a holiday weekend? The last big server outage was on Mother’s Day… *sigh*

Just reporting on some bad luck on the IcyHot deal @ Wags this week. Came in hand with my coupon ready to make a buck and things didn’t go so hot at the register. The register beeped (of course!) and when the cashier examined the coupon he said that it was only for the back patch pictured on the coupon. I explained to him that the fine print said that it was good for any one IcyHot product the only restriction being for a 1 count back patch. It was no use. His explanation was that the computer said that no matching item had been purchased. So, my question is, if Jill is correct, how do I explain the concept of overage to a cashier who doesn’t know anything about it?

I ALWAYS have problems at Walgreens with the coupon policy. I sent my aunt who is new to couponing in a couple weeks ago and they wouldn’t honor her coupons. I finally got fed up, called customer serviceand asked every question I had with the policy and told them about a manager refusing to lower coupon amounts. They took my info and passed it along to the store manager who called me a couple days later. I explained how frustrating it is to have a problem every time I try to use a coupon. She was very nice and said they were retraining everyone on the coupon policy (thank goodness!) They also gave my aunt a $5 credit since a coupon she had tried to use had expired (the $5 Tylenol Precise) by the time I spoke to her so she could still get the deal. Also, I always carry their coupon policy with me.

i am sure this has probably been asked before, but can someone tell me, @ Jewel with the 4/$8 pop deal with additional $20 purchase, is that $20 before coupons or after???
Like if i were to buy the beggin strips with the coupon from ss would it count as $4.09 toward my order (the price of 1), $8.18 (the price of 2, seeing as how its a B1G1) or $.10 (the price i will pay after coupons)???
thanks!
happy memorial day!
frugalmomskitchen says
I ran this deal yesterday. You just have to buy more than one box. There are other boxes for $.99 you can add. I bought 2 of the $1.99 boxes and the $2 came off automatically. $9 of Popsicles for $1.98? That’s what I call a deal.
At Jewel, you may not have to do the $20 purchase to get the pop. I ran it twice last week without an additional purchase and the extra $3 came off as soon as I scanned the fourth pop. However, the $20 is usually before coupons. That’s how it’s always worked with holiday hams.

There were also some target q’s in the paper a week or two ago for .75/1 bounce and another for .75/tide…that helps with the gift card deals

I just tried the spend $25, get $10″ Catalina sale on Energizer and Energizer- and I didn’t get the $10 Catalina. However, I did get an advertisement for it that said it was from 5-15-11 to 5-28-10. Why it would spit that out of the machine after the fact I have no idea. I of course returned the products because I wasn’t about to pay full price. I bought: * Vent Aire Bottles 3-pack – $12.99 and * Spill-Proof Cup 2-pack (9ox.) – $5.39 (three of them). Anyone know why this is messed up and if they are going to fix it? That was a GREAT deal…if it worked!!

For the Wags deal on Ritz Crackerfuls, there is a $1.50 off 1 coupon in the 4/17 SS. Sounds like a REAL moneymaker to me!!! :)
However…for some reason, I’ve not been able to find the coupon in my 4/17 SS.

Don’t forget there is a BOGO coupon on Head & Shoulders coupon in 4/17 RP (expires 5/31). : )

There was a pretty great deal on the Huggies refill pack at Wags too. The 216 ct (which equals refilling the box 3 times) is on sale for $5.99. Sweeten that deal further with some coupons. -$2 from the Wags Baby Care book from earlier this year(exp 12/11) and stack it with either the $0.50 off or if you get the home mailers a $0.75 and that makes for a happy stocked up baby. Also it makes great fillers in baby shower baskets. Baby’s love cheap expensive wipes too
bookmaven says
My Wags (Downers Grove Ogden ave) had the $2 RR deal signs on all 16oz. Ritz, not just Crackerfuls. Unfortunately, I snagged that last box of Ritz in the store for the deal. So, it’s not just the crackerfuls that they don’t have in stock.
I usually shop on Monday, but today being a holiday, I made a quick stop Sunday on my way to the new Savers store (great place, BTW) to buy a shirt for my son. I’d have been out of luck today on this deal.
DiamondCass says
Breakstones sour cream is BOGO this week and my Jewel had an associate standing at the front of the store giving samples of their ZESTY DIPPING sour cream, which were also BOGO. She had coupons for $.40 off 1, so if you use 2 you’d get both for $3.19. Not TOO bad if you need these for a party or get together.

I called Home Depot and they do accept manufacturer coupons. So you can use the $1.00 coupon in the Jewel sumertime brocure at Home Depot.

If you have the lovely checkbook sized P&G mailer, there’s a $1/1 Mega Roll coupon you can use instead of the .25/1 from the paper.
Also, when I was trying to do the deal with two sets of the Target coupons ($2.50 and $1 and free wipes) the customer service rep had a hard time taking the last $2.50 off. She let me pay for the rest of the order first. Once that went through, she took my receipt and did a delayed/late coupon key for the last $2.50 one, and it went through without a hitch. Hope this helps!
Thanks, Jill, for the awesome TP deal. We didn’t do the one a few weeks ago in the grocery stores, so this was a nice deal to take advantage of. : )

The coupon in my Fresh Summertime Fun booklet for save $2 on Coca-Cola products doesn’t say anything about not using it on cola products. It just says “save $2 on any (2) 20- or 24 pack Coca-Cola products.” Just wondering if it’s still true that it won’t work on cola products. Thanks!
WHOOPS!! Now I see that I had the wrong coupon!!

I, too, had a disagreement with an assistant manager at Wags who couldn’t understand using a BOGO coupon when the store was already offering the products at BOGO. I pulled out my two-page printout, pointed the policy out to him, explained that the coupon made it zero dollars, and “not below zero dollars,” which is what the policy stated. He reluctantly gave it to me, but it wasn’t until I showed him what was written! I even offered to let him keep the printout for future reference. :)

Isn’t the Fresh summertime fun coupon $2 off two coca cola 20pks, not the 12pks on sale? Careful…

Hawaiian Tropic is including in the gift card deal at Target – buy 2 totaling at least $5 get $5 GC.
Also, Cha Cha sent me the email today of a great coupon to go with it:
Get a $2 coupon good towards any Hawaiian Tropic shimmer product by texting chacha (242242) SHIMMER + your email (example: SHIMMER benwrotethis@gmail.com).
p.s. Jill, you literally have the most secure password system out of all the sites I belong to – so much so that I can never remember my password. It never occurs to me to use both capital letters and punctuation. GRR

I just did the Reach toothbrush catalina deal at Dominicks. Look closely at your Dominicks. I found adult toothbrushes priced at $1.83, making this deal slightly better than the childrens toothbrushes.
Also, I got overage for the KC masterpiece sauce and Yoplait Greek yogurt. My JFU had 1 free Yoplait Greek yogurt, and I used a $.35 printable coupon I found through CouponTom. My receipt actually shows that I paid -.12 and -.35 for each item. Kind of funny.

Very disappointed with Jewel in Addison. I sent my mother in with a list and the coupons she needed. They wouldn’t accept the $2 off $25 email coupon, she had four cases of 12pk Fanta, they would only accept one $2 coupon from the Summertime Book. The cashier pointed out that on the coupon it states “one coupon per purchase”……don’t they all yet most stores accept one coupon per item? I felt bad because my mother doesn’t speak a lot of English and the cashier just gave her the hardest time to the point where my mother just walked away and did not buy anything!!!

I went to Target this morning and had both sets of the 3 coupons ready to use for the Charmin 18 pk deal – two .25, two $1 and two free wipes. I get to the register and the cashier tells me that I can’t use the free wipes coupon because I already used 1 Target coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon. I told her that the Target coupon applied to the toilet paper and the other Target coupon applied to the wipes. She insisted that all 3 at the same time could not be done. I did not have time to argue or to talk to customer service so I just took the 2 18pk tissue and left. Needless to say I did get a great deal regardless since I had a $10 target gift card leftover from a previous sale.
Coupon total – 18.49
-9.68 left on GC = 8.81.
Recvd $5 free gift card = $3.81 or 1.90 ea! Would have been nice with free wipes, but oh well.

I was just at my local Target in Bedford Park, and the Charmin wipes (@ $2.49) had a sign that said “Special Price” FREE with the purchase of (one) Charmin bath tissue. I think the sign may have said with 9-pk of Charmin or more. I purchased two 18-pk of Charmin, and I got the $5 gift card and two Charmin tubs free. The cashier was not aware of this and the register didn’t automatically ring it up that way. The manager seemed somewhat aware of this, and she did go back and check and it was valid. Any one else see these signs by the Charmin wipes (tubs)?

$4.29 for 2 cans minus 50 cents EACH can = $1.65/can

4/17 RP1 – FREE roll of Marcal toilet paper, paper towels, or boxed facial tissue (exp. 5/31/11.)<-- yes I know expired but they come out pretty often. Copied this from the above post by Jill. Does anyone know where they carry the single rolls of the toilet paper or paper towels in this area? I live in Ottawa, work in Plainfield, IL. THANKS!
