If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog full Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

FREE COUPON BOOKS:

FREE COUPON NETWORKS:
The following networks regularly send product samples and high-value coupons to your home for you to use and share. Each network may ask you for online feedback on their products via surveys or messageboards too.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Just checked to see if there was anything new and got a nice surprise. Thanks for the early deals.
Calibabydolly says
is 90 cents and not on sale w/ the others for 50 cents. I do not know why they exclude that one as Jewel does include it.
I picked up mine last week at Jewel for 20 cents, but its still a good price at 30 cents after the coupon doubles at Krogers.
I know you do not have Krogers nearby anymore but wanted to thank you for still including Krogers in your write-ups. There are lots of your readers down south that shop at Krogers.

I get my Sunday Tribune delivered but read on MUM to check page 30 for a $10 cp off several brands of turkeys w/ a separate $25 purchase.
You can combine it w/ the deals you have listed for the Butterballs, if you need other groceries too. Might be a deal?
Cathy S says
Thanks for posting early, I think the Marshmellows are .50 each. My ad reads $2/2 – Buy 2 get $1.00 making them .50 each.

Last week Jewel advertised spend $15 get $5 on some Osco items, I needed something this week and saw that the deal is going through the 18th and there is also spend $25 get $10. Well many Robitusin cold and flu products are on sale for $5.99 (including childrens), there is a $3 coupon in 9/30 RP…so depending on how many coupons you have you can get a good deal. I bought 5 @ 5.99 = 29.95 (you could mix it up with Hall drops (which are $1.99 and there is a $1/2 cpn) to get closer to 25) used 5 coupons (less $15) and got back $10…so 4.95 for all 5 and about $1 each. The sign does say the $5 or $10 will print after manuf. coupons but that was not the case for me.

I think the $1 Butterball coupon is gone :(

There’s a new Meijer ad in today’s Trib (I didn’t get it in my Saturday-edition Trib, and it wasn’t online, or I would have blogged it..!) These offers are on ALL turkeys at Meijer – any brand, any size, fresh or frozen:
Get $10 off a 10-15lb. hen turkey instantly with a $20 purchase at Meijer, and
Get $17 off a 16lb. and up tom turkey with a $20 purchase at Meijer. Limit 1 per transaction.
The ad is showing the following post-instant-savings per pound prices:
10lb. Hen Turkey = .49/lb. after $10 instant
12lb. Hen Turkey = .66/lb. after $10 instant
17lb. Tom Turkey = .49/lb. after $17 instant
20lb. Tom Turkey = .64/lb. after $17 instant

There’s so much going on with the Butterball Turkey Deals at Jewel this week that I gave the many scenarios their own post. There’s a $3 Nestle instant-savings offer that double-dips the $10 Nestle Catalina too.
Also, I checked the freezer case, and the McCain Sweet Potato Fries ARE included in the $2.50 offer, so $1.50 after ecoupon or insert coupon. Good price for these!
wljohn says
Is the $25 purchase to use the turkey coupon before or after coupons? and does a purchase of gift cards count? Thanks.

Head over to couponnetwork for $1.10/3 on Haagen-Daz pints. Part of the turkey deal, buy 4 participating Nestle products at Jewel.

I cannot find the .40 cent off coupon for cottenelle in the 10/14 SS. I see one for $1 off both cottenelle and cottenelle wipes, but not a .40 off cottenelle? Could you have listed it wrong? Thanks for any help!

Hello fellow avid couponers! Jill, I’ve followed your website for a few weeks and just officially signed up. I wanted to let people know about the $0.33 Bailey’s creamer deal at Meijers. My Dominick’s in Woodridge IL has a “blinkie” Bailey manufacturing coupon dispenser on the door of the dairy refrigerator. They are a $1.00 off any Bailey creamers. I used those coupons at Meijers. Sale price $1.33 -1.00 manufacturer coupon made them $0.33 each. (I bought 7. They have a several month shelf life!) Enjoy! Glad to be a new member of the Cataldo couponing community. :-)

I was going to buy Zantac at Walgreens for $9.99. $17.99 for an 80 pk of the 75 mg with the $5.00 mfq and $3.00 Wags Q but found them at Walmart for a 30 pk for $7.58 less the $5.00 coupon making them $2.58/pk or $.09 a pill. At Walgreens it would have been $.12 a pill with the 80 pk.

Has anyone tried to use the $10 Jewel turkey coupon at Meijer? It is easier for me to spend $25 there than at Jewel.
