“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

The Saturday and Sunday editions of the Chicago Tribune has a $10 coupon for a turkey at Jewel! Best strategy? Obviously, small turkeys close to $10 in price will be VERY cheap with this coupon. The ad notes that a 16lb. Honeysuckle White turkey will be .49/lb. after coupon, and a 16lb. Butterball will be .99/lb.

Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Jewel meat deals:
- Jewel chicken drumsticks or thighs are $1.39/lb.
- Perdue fresh turkey drumsticks, wings or necks are $1.79/lb.
- Beef top round roast, eye of round roast, Perdue fresh chicken and Hormel Always tender pork loin, chops or roasts are 33% off in the weekly ad. Unfortunately, no prices.
Jewel seafood deals:
- Ocean Market 4oz. seafood fillets are $1 each – that’s $4/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- Hard shell squash are .99/lb.
- Gala apples are $1.29/lb.
- Bartlett or Bosc pears are $1.49/lb.
- Broccoli crowns or cauliflower are $1.49/lb.
- Vine ripe tomatoes are $1.99/lb.
- Organic Braeburn apples are $1.79/lb.
- Organic Anjou pears are $1.99/lb.
- Green peppers are $1 each
- Mangos are $1 each
(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 per pound is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Dominick’s Super Coupons:

The last time we saw this sale was in MAY of this year, and it turned out to be one of my favorites for stocking up on vitamins and supplements! Just as last time, some of the vitamins are on sale B1G1F.
If there are supplements you take regularly, this is a great time to stock up too. For example, 100ct. bottles of Meijer Naturals Fish Oil are $6.79 B1G1F – six bottles (again, paying for three) costs $20.37 and you’ll get $8 back. That’s $12.37 for 6, or about $2.06 per bottle, which is really a steal for this.

Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: The Schnucks ad cycle is a WEDNESDAY to TUESDAY ad, which means these deals run through TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15th.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Hershey’s Baking Chips (8-12oz.) are on sale for $1.88. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 from 11/13 SS. You’ll pay $2.76 for two, or $1.38 each.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
8″ Pumpkin pies in the bakery are $2.98
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Jill, you mentioned that your prices listed are after the $3 instant savings, but in your calculations you say
Pre-coupon total: $16.50
Minus $3 instant savings: $13.50
Am I figuring this wrong, or are you counting the instant savings twice here?

There is a pretty decent deal on diapers at Walgreens this week. The Walgreens brand is buy one ($8.99) get one 50% off: $13.48 for two Use the $2 off from the Infant care book (will take off $4)= $9.48 for two or $4.74 each. I actually prefer Walgreens brand over Huggies and Pampers (after trying it once because I had a coupon) because they don’t leak and work really well overnight. Wanted to post this in case someone else was waiting for these to go on sale like me.
MissyB1 says
Does anyone know if Maxwell House 31-34 oz is on sale at Meijer? I can’t find it in the circular or online. Coupon Mom says it’s $7.99 – buy 2 get a $4 cat. Jewel had some peelies for $1 off 1. That would make a pretty good price for coffee.
MissyB1 says
Jill, what do you think is a good price for toilet paper? Is the 30 double roll of cottonelle at target for $15.99 a good deal? you get a free box of kleenex hand towels with it. Is cottonelle lame tp?
HappyMom88 says
A lot of people ask this same question. About .20-.25 per 2 ply roll for TP is a good price. However, please take into consideration whether it is a single or double roll.
.50/roll for 2 ply PT. Again, the same as above regarding standards.

Jill,
I am always searching for the best prices on pop/soda (can you tell my southern roots?) I am somewhat brand loyal, Pepsi preferred, then Coke, and will throw in a Dr. Pepper now and again but depends on the sale what I bring home. Is there a way to find the best prices on soda? Generally, it is not highlighted in any of the store deals unless it is a fantastic price and my family of 4 are huge drinkers..lol..I mean drink a lot of soda.
As always, really appreciate your had work and sharing you knowledge will us. Thanks for your help!

Playtex/Stayfree deal
Buy 2 Playtex and/or Stayfree get free Carefree 36 count liners ($3.09 value)
Playtex tampons – $6.99 for 36
Stayfree ultra thin regular pad – $2.37 for 44 (there are other stayfee pads on sale too, these were the cheapest)
10/2 ss $1 off playtex
11/6 ss $1 off stayfree
I’m sorry I can’t remember where I got these other 2 Q’s – maybe Jill knows? – but there are Target only $1 off playtex, $1 off stayfree Q’s in one of the Trib flyers – I’m guessing October. They don’t come up on Coupon Tom. I cut them last week thinking I might compare Target prices so I don’t know where they came from :(
so that makes $9.36 – $4 in Q’s = $5.36 for tampons and pads and a free package of carefree liners.
of course, if you do the 2 x stayfree with Q’s for that, you’ll get a bigger bargain!

Stopped at Ultra Foods in Streamwood and they had the Panko bread crumbs for 1.49 a box. I bought 4 boxes and I had 4 $1.00 off Q’s. Brought it down to $.49 a box and when I checked out I got 2 $.75 catalinas and a Catalina for $.75 off 2 more Panko. Total $.46 for 4 boxes.
I thought the Catalina deal was over!!!
They also had the Birds Eye Steamfresh veggies for $.69 ea. limit 3. Bought 3 had $1.00 off three Q’ bringing them down to $.37 ea.
Then went over to CVS and bought 2 Oral B rechargeable toothbrushes. Used 2 $10.00 coupons from the paper. With the paper coupons and the extrabucks my total was just over $10.00 tax and all for both. Not to bad for a beginner?
Just thought I would share

I am having trouble finding the Best Life coupon in the 10/2 SS. I have looked through all my inserts and both smartsources from that week and still cannot find it. Any help would be appreciated. Also, one of my game pieces from Jewel had a store coupon for .25 off Wesson to add to the deal.

Hi Jill,
Since you mentioned you like these, I just noticed that the Jewel brand is about 48 cents and when you use the $1/3 Jewel brand canned fruit/veggies coupon, it makes for 3 cans for less than 50 cents. I thought that was a pretty good deal so thought I’d share.

I keep clicking on the link for the printables couplons and I am taken to this link instead and can’t get to the coupons. https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/believe-in-heroes.aspx Is it something wrong with my PC or the link? Thanks

I asked Jewel-Osco via their FB page if this coupon was available if I didn’t have a Chicago Tribune subscription, and I was told “YES” the coupon is available in the store. Yippee!

I went to Dominicks to do the buy $10 of O Organics and get a $2 Cat for your next order deal. I bought an 8.99 maple syrup and 2 -$2 cartons of chicken broth. Before I left the store I noticed that instead of the $2 cat, I got an advertisement for the deal and a $3 coupon for 3 more cartons of broth. I went to the service desk with my receipt. Even though I had the advertising Cat, they wanted to know where I’d seen the deal(was it printed in their add?). They said that the Cat would print out next time or that because it gave me the $3 coupon, why would it give me 2 deals at the same time? Yeah, right?! I had them read the Cat advertisement twice(the deal is valid from 11/12 to 11/26, BTW). They still didn’t agree I should have gotten the coupon, but to shut me up they gave me $2 cash. So keep an eye out if you try to do this. If that Cat advertisement hadn’t printed out, I wouldn’t have had a leg to stand on.
But I did really enjoy getting 18 eggs for 99 cents and an almost 10 pound turkey for $4.50

I am sorry but I do not recall if any baking nuts (walnuts, pecans, etc.) ever get involved in any deals this time of year. I finally consider myself a pretty good baker but the price of nuts is ridiculous!!
Would I be better off at a Eurofresh, Caputos or Valli for these?
Thanks in advance!

They tend to have pretty good sales this time of year and you can get just about any nut you need there-keep your eyes on the sale papers-hth! :)

Do you ever do deals for Food 4 Less? They have some great sales. I’m not sure how many stores there are in the area, but there is one in Evanston, on the Skokie border.

I just want to give a big thanks to jill for posting all these deals. Couponing has become such a big help to us. My 2 year old is now grabbing sales ads at stores and bringing them to me for couponing its so cute. Thanks so much.
