Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel, they have a super deal on turkeys. Frozen Jennie-O turkeys are .99 a pound, but Sunday’s Chicago Tribune (page 17) has a coupon for $10 off any turkey 14lbs. or more with a $20 grocery purchase. Well, at .99/lb, a 14-pound turkey would cost you $13.86… and with the coupon, it would be just $3.86! That is a STEAL!
Jewel’s $10 coupon is good on other varieties of turkeys on sale at Jewel as well, including fresh Jennie-O ($1.79/lb.) and frozen Butterball ($1.59/lb.) If you prefer Butterball, they’re a good deal too, as you can use this $2 coupon to bring the price down even more. A 14lb. Butterball turkey would cost $22.26 pre-coupon — post $10 and $2 coupons, you’ll pay $10.26.
This wonderful $10 turkey coupon is good through 11/26! So what else is good at Jewel this week? Let’s fill up that $20-minimum purchase with any of the following…
College Inn broth: It’s on sale for .67 for 14.5 ounces. Buy 2 and use the $1 off 2 coupon from 11/15 RP – you’ll pay just .34, or .17 each…
Sara Lee pie (37 oz.): They’re $3.49 each. If you actually need more Breyer’s ice cream (ha ha ha!) this is a good deal for you, as when you buy the pie, you’ll get the ice cream free! With this $1 Sara Lee coupon, pay $2.49 for both. If you have the .75 Breyers coupon from the same 10/18 RP insert, use it here too (yes, you can!) and pay just $1.74 for the pie AND the ice cream! 10/18 RP also has a .75 coupon for the pie if you want to stock up more, but the $1 coupon’s a better bet savings-wise. Thanks to Woodstock06 for pointing out the Redplum coupon!
Bird’s Eye frozen vegetables: They’re on sale for $1. Use the .35 coupon from 11/15 RP and take them home for .65…
Gillette shaving gel: They’re on sale for $1.50. Use the .55 coupon from 11/1 PG and take this home for .95! Check your Jewel Avenu as sometimes this product shows up there as well.

Over at Dominick’s, Thanksgiving meats are on sale. Safeway spiral bone-in hams are $1.99/lb. Jennie-O frozen turkeys 8-24lbs are just .43/lb. with a $20 minimum purchase – no coupon needed! And there are actually quite a lot of good deals at Dominick’s that week that should make it pretty easy to get a $20 minimum going here… like…
Meat deals:
Pork Shoulder is .79/lb…
Rancher’s Reserve boneless beef round steak is $1.49/lb…
Produce deals:
Red seedless grapes are $1/lb…
Yellow sweet onions are .99.lb…
Bartlett, D’Anjou, Bosc or Comice pears are .99/lb..
Whole pineapples are $2.99 each
Baby-cut carrots are $1.50 per 1lb. bag
Dairy deals:
Lucerne butter is $1.99 for a 1lb. box
(You may have received a Dominick’s mailer recently with a $1 coupon for this – even better deal if you’ve got it!)
Lucerne milk is $1.99/gallon
Other deals:
Tropicana Trop50 juice is $2.99 a carton. Use the $1 coupon from 9/13 RP and pay $1.99…
Softsoap 7.5oz pump soaps are $1 each. There are numerous expired .35 coupons for these (4/26 SS, 3/29 SS, 2/1 SS, 1/4 SS) that will bring them down to just .65 each…
Cottonelle toilet paper – It’s $4.99 for a double-roll 12 roll package when you purchase 3 at a time (other items included in mix & match too – see Thursday ad.) Many stores have a blinkie dispenser with $2 Cottonelle blinkies inside! With three blinkies, pay just $2.99 per package. The October issue of All You also has a $1 Cottonelle coupon.
Waterfront Bistro seafood – many varieties of frozen shrimp and fish fillets are on sale for $6.99-$7.99 a bag (approx 1lb. bags.) Look for a cardboard display with Waterfront Bistro pamphlets near the seafood area — the pamphlets contain $2 coupons for Waterfront Bistro! You could take these home for $4.99-$5.99 a bag. It’s been a while since we had a very cheap shrimp deal, and this one’s not too bad…
Nature Valley Nut Clusters – They’re on sale for $1.99 a bag. At many stores, when you buy 3, you get $3 in instant savings. Use some expired coupons to make these FREE and a small moneymaker (yes, Dominick’s accepts expireds!) With three $1 coupons from either 9/13 GM and/or 8/23 SS and/or printables, this is a .03 moneymaker, and you’ll get THREE for FREE! And, www.shortcuts.com and Cellfire may have electronics to stack into this as well… check them out too.
Caribou Coffee – It’s $4.99 a bag. Use the $2 coupon from 11/1 RP or a printable and take it home for $2.99…
DOMINICK’S DIAPER DEAL! It’s been a long time since we had a good diaper deal, but here’s one that should keep you moms and dads with little ones in diapers pretty happy this week…
Sunday’s Dominick’s ad has a store coupon on the back page that makes jumbo packs of Pampers and Huggies $7.99 each, limit four. We’re going to multi-stack this deal with some electronic and manufacturer coupons as well to really bring this down!
Head over to Cellfire and load the coupon for $1 off Huggies…
Then, go to Shortcuts and load the coupon for $1.50 off Huggies…
Then, go to PGEsaver and load the THREE $1 coupons for Pampers (Pampers diapers, Pampers Extra Protection Diapers, Pampers Swaddlers – regardless of what you end up using, I’d load them all, in case one variety is out at the store once you get there. If you need wipes, also add the .25 off Pampers wipes, as we can work these into the deal too…)
Now, let’s get some manufacturer coupons together to go with these electronics…
10/25 RP – $2 off Pampers Extra Protection diapers
11/1 PG – $1.50 off Pampers diapers
11/1 PG – $1.50 off Pampers Easy Ups
10/25 SS AND 11/15 SS – $3 off Huggies Pure and Natural diapers
10/25 SS – $1 off Huggies diapers
11/15 SS – $1.50 off Huggies diapers
11/15 SS – $1 off Huggies Pull-Ups
June All You – $2 off Huggies diapers
$2 off Huggies diapers – print 2
$2 off Huggies Overnights diapers
$3 off Huggies Naturals diapers
$1.50 off Huggies Little Snugglers or Little Movers diapers
Also, check your home mailer coupons – both Huggies and Pampers have sent out good coupons lately (if you’re on their mailing lists) – I’ve got some $2 and $3 coupons for each.
So, let’s put a diaper deal together. For example, you could buy:
2 Huggies and 2 Pampers (you choose varieties)
At $7.99/pack with the Dominick’s coupon, your total is $31.96.
Electronic coupons will take $1 and $1.50 off for the Huggies, plus $1 and $1 off for the Pampers.
Your total is now $27.46.
With the highest-value coupons here (two $3 Huggies coupons and a $2 and $1.50 coupon for the Pampers) pay $17.96 for four, or $4.49 each! Considering it’s been a few months since we’ve seen a really great diaper deal, this does cut the price almost 50% per pack… AND you’ve qualified for your cheap turkey at Dominick’s too :)
If you need wipes, stack the .25 PGEsaver Pampers wipes coupon with the “Buy Pampers diapers, get $1 off Pampers wipes” coupon from 10/25 RP and bring the price down on these as well.
In addition to the diaper coupon detailed above, there again are some good Dominick’s Super Coupons in their Wednesday and Sunday ads. You can stack manufacturer coupons with any of these that you may have manufacturer coupons for too (use www.coupontom.com or www.hotcouponworld.com [expired database]) for matchups.
Best SUPER COUPONS this week?
From Sunday’s ad:
Oscar Mayer bacon: It’s $2.99, limit 4, with the Super Coupon. Use the .75 coupon from 11/15 SS and pay $2.24 a package… and many Dominick’s also have an unadvertised Catalina deal running on the bacon too! A $2 Catalina may print for every 2 you buy — so if you have two coupons, buy 2, pay $4.48 and get $2 back. That brings it down to just $1.24 a package!
King’s Hawaiian bread: It’s $1.49, limit 2, with the Super Coupon. Use this .75 printable (print 2!) and pick up two loaves for .74 each…
Tide: It’s $5.99 with the Super Coupon. Load the $1 off powdered Tide ecoupon from www.pgesaver.com, and stack it with the $1 Tide coupon from 11/1 PG (or any expireds.) You’ll pay just $3.99 for the 71-oz. Tide…
Quaker Chewy granola bars: They’re .99 with the Super Coupon, limit 5. Stack this with the $1 off 2 coupon and pay just .49 a box!
From Thursday’s ad:
Birds Eye frozen vegetables They’re 4 for $5 (must buy 4.) Use the .35 Birds Eye coupons from 10/18 SS and 11/15 SS to take these under a dollar a bag. If you’re a multiple insert person, with four coupons, pay $3.60 for four, or .90 each!
A note on Dominick’s Super Coupons: All of the Super Coupons require a total purchase of $20 or more to use. But, the “Minimum $20 purchase” applies to the REGULAR, non-sale price of those items. Really! It’s even spelled out very well on Safeway’s corporate site:
What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases before your Club Card discount is applied. This total will include the coupon item’s regular price, not the discounted price. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (before coupon and before Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
So, knowing this, getting over that $20 mark isn’t as hard as it seems. Mix and match what you like, and remember too that if you work any other items into your trip from this week’s deals, they too will count toward your $20.
Home for the Holidays Catalina sale at Dominick’s: Dominick’s is currently running a $25/$5 through 11/29. Spend $25 and get a $5 Catalina good for your next trip! (In case you missed this, the ad is inside this week’s SmartSource insert…)
Here are your included products and matchups:
Gold Medal flour – $2 each
– .50 off
Safeway 5lb. sugar – $1.79 each
(no current coupons)
Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn – $2.50 each
– .40 off – 11/15 SS, 8/2 SS, 5/17 SS, 4/19 SS, 1/18 SS
Swiss Miss hot cocoa – $2 each
– .50 off 2 – 11/15 SS
Pam no-stick spray – $2.49 each
– .35 off – 11/15 SS, 6/29 SS, 3/29 SS, 1/18 SS
Reddi-wip – $2.50 each
– .50 off – 11/15 SS
Wesson Oil – $2.49 each
– .25 off – 11/15 SS
– .50 off
If you have the (now-expired) Con-Agra coupon book mailed out earlier this year, there are some high-value coupons inside for these products too… we’ve certainly seen higher-value Catalina deals on ConAgra in the past, but if you need any of these products, this is a way to get them for a little less than you could regularly.
But, watch your prices here too. Some of these things are cheaper elsewhere this week… the Swiss Miss is $1 at Jewel, for example…
Lastly, if you have the new 2010 Entertainment Book, there is a $5 off $50 coupon for Dominick’s in the front cover. With all these deals, if you’ve got that coupon, work it in here as well… and make sure it’s the FIRST coupon you hand the cashier :)
At Meijer, turkeys are on sale here as well (big surprise, right?) Their current deal is that for any turkey you buy, you’ll get $8 off a hen turkey or $14 off a tom turkey with an additional $20 grocery purchase. The ad doesn’t list how much turkeys are selling for though, so either of the deals at Jewel or Dominick’s get more props, in my opinion, for making the per-pound prices very easy to figure out!
Got gravy? Campbell’s gravy is on sale 2 for $1. Buy 6. Use the Mealbox coupon for $1 off 6. Stack this with the $1 off 4 coupon from 10/11 SS, and take home SIX Campbell’s gravy for $1! BIG thanks to Prea for posting this excellent gravy deal!
I love all the deals we’ve seen on fresh fruit as of late. One of my favorite fruits? The clementine! They’re just coming into season, and Meijer’s got the best price on them that I’ve seen this week – $5.99 for a 5lb. box.
And, pears are .99/lb at Meijer too – Bartlett, Anjou, Red, Bosc, Comice or Seckel varieties.
In the “easy meal” department, Meijer has Macaroni Grill dinner kits cheap this week! They’re $2.99 each. Stack two $1 Mealbox coupons with these $1.10 printables and take two home for just .89 each!
If you’re a member of Psst (like Vocalpoint, but run by General Mills) you may have received some $2 coupons for Macaroni Grill dinner kits recently. With these coupons, they’re FREE and moneymakers!
Yoplait Yo-Plus yogurt is a great deal this week too. It’s $1.99, and with any of the $1 coupons currently out (11/8 SS, 10/4 GM, printables), pay .99. Now, if you buy 3, you’ll also get a Catalina coupon for a free carton of orange juice on your next purchase! THAT’s a deal! :)
Also included in the orange juice deal? Pillsbury Toaster Strudel. They’re $1.99. With the .55 off 2 coupon from 9/13 GM, pay $3.43 for 2, and also get credit for 2 out of 3 items toward your orange juice Catalina too!
Want more orange juice? Meijer has Tropicana Trop50 at an even better price than Dominick’s this week – at $2.50 a carton, use the $1 coupon from 9/13 RP and pay $1.50.
Clorox toilet bowl cleaner is also a good deal this week. On sale for $1.50, the price drops to a buck after using the .50 coupon from 10/4 RP.
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes. This is why I don’t blog too many Meijer deals…
Here’s a new tidbit about Target… if you take reusable bags with for your shopping trip, you’ll get a .05 savings on your total for every bag you bring and use! We like free money :)
Every November we see good and crazy deals on Glade products, and this November is already no exception. Target’s got a promo running on Holiday Glade products through 12/15. Buy any 5 Holiday Glade products and get a $5 Target gift card.
The coupons to use here? Two Buy One, Get One Free Glade coupons – here and here. With enough coupons, pay $5… and get $5! FREE Glade. The 11/1 SS has MANY more Glade coupons for you to work into this deal too, including B1G1Fs for candles, scented oil warmers, and more… and, many of the candle tins have $1.50 coupons inside too. (DON’T open the tins before you buy them… buy first, then use the other coupons to do another round…)
ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT FOR THIS DEAL (ends 11/23…) : Bags of Chef Michael’s dog food are $4.49 at Target. Use the $3 manufacturer coupon from 10/11 SS and stack it with the $1 Target coupon from 8/30 SS. You’ll pay just .49 a bag!
For my Rockford-area readers, Hilander has some good deals this week too. This week’s ad has their turkey deal outlined — use your Hilander/Kroger card and receive an instant $10 savings on turkeys 10-16lbs in size, and receive an instant $15 savings on turkeys 17lbs. and larger. The sale includes Premium Quality, Butterball, Honeysuckle White, and Perdue… and if you’re buying a Butterball, don’t forget this $2 coupon too!
Cook’s bone-in shank ham is priced excellently at just .97/lb.
Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese is on sale for .99 a box. Use the $1 off 3 coupon from 11/15 RP, buy 3, and pay $1.97. That works out to .66 each!
Naturally Preferred organic milk is a GREAT price this week at $2.49 a half gallon…
Drugstore Deals

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically 20-30 of them. Many websites are now tracking the All You coupons and matching them to deals, just as they do with the newspaper coupon inserts. You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Dare I ask? Is the Jewel $20 minimum for turkeys based on non-preferred price? Is it before coupons or after? Thank you!

Jill – Thank you so much for another weeks’ great deal listed out for us to follow! I took SC1 with you just after Thanksgiving last year, and I knew my Thanksgiving dinner for 18 would cost me much, much less this year! I have not only found great ways to save on dinner, but this site has even spelled out how to save money on the beverages for my husband’s Irish family! We have saved so much this past year that we have much more to be Thankful for this year. Thanks Jill!

Is this deal listed in the store ad? I didn’t get a $3 instant savings, they just rang up at the $1.99 sale price, then I used the Qs making them cheap but not free. If there should have been an instant savings on my receipt I might need to go back to the store to get it.

I have a $10.00 off manufacturers Q for a Butterball Turkey. Can I stack this $10.00 manufacturers Q on top of the $10.00 Q from the Tribune?
lkrupicka says
I just did this deal yesterday. They rang up at $3.49 each with a $1.50 card savings to bring them down to $1.99 – no $3 instant. No freebie there. But it is possible to get them down to very cheap (60 cents for all 3 for me) with ecoupons and regular manufacturer Q’s.

I am brand new to this, so sorry if you’ve covered this before. Is it true that all of the Dominick’s super coupon deals require a $20 min. purchase? So in order to get the current $2.99 deal, you need to buy $20 worth?

Jill, I have to say that this Thanksgiving (closely following my family) you top my list of what I am thankful for this year. You have opened my eyes to the smart way to shop. I can’t believe all the money I was literally throwing away each week to feed my family of 6. Thank you thank you thank you for teaching me this truely immeasurable skill. I now know that I’ll never have to worry about if we’ll have enough money for groceries because of the gift you’ve given me. My MIL runs the church food pantry, and is now using super couponing skills to stretch her pantry budget, giving her families more for less. Many of these families in need of the food pantry could help themselves better if only they learned that they too could be shopping for such little money. Thank you Jill, you are an angel!

at my dominick’s in palatine there was a coupon right by the display on them that was for a $1 off of 3. When you add that to the coupon in the add to buy a bag of chocolate chips at $1.68/ea. It brings them down to 1.35 each. I thought that was pretty good!:)

noticed they had a few things on sale and rummaged through my expired Qs and completed a trip consisting of:
4 Quacker Oats granola bars
7 Caribou coffees
3 Cottonelle 12 rolls each
2 Lysol Refills (battery air fresher dispensers)
2 Crystal Renuzits
2 Kings Bread
4 OM Bacon
4 pkgs (3 ea.) Scotch brite pads
4 Ghiradelli Baking Chips (white)
After Dom/Mfg Qs was $67.59 OOP with receipt showing $88.66 fresh value and $42.99 coupon savings and did receive two Cats $2 off next order (courtesy Oscar Mayer). Not bad considering the high ticket items I bought as the coffee alone would have been $70 shelf.
Didn’t have blinkies for baking chips but look through yours for the $2 off Cottonelle 24 rolls as they did go through for the 12 roll that says equal to 24 rolls (goes with $4.99 if you buy 3 paper product deal). Had free renuizit and internet for $4 off Lysol refills which were $4.99 on sale.
Have no problems with the Crystal Lake store taking more than one internet Q per type of item but the cashier did let me know the new rule they are enforcing (at least this store): On the Catalinas that state $___ off your next order, they will only take one per order no matter how many items or the total of your bill. She kindly suggested dividing up your order if you are going to use the Cats to pay your bill.

Jill, I tried both links for the Glade coupons, but it seems they are no longer there. Do I need another zipcode or is the offer no longer available? The Glade website mentioned the latter, so perhaps we can no longer print out those coupons.

If you are planning on picking up those cough drops, make sure to grab their coupon book. I don’t remember the amount of the coupon (it is in my car), but this will give you some overage!

GOT MY TURKEY : ) … GOT ANOTHER ONE : )
I am cooking one tomorrow and slicing it and freezing for future dinners and some comfort food for the eldest who recently moved out.
I am happy happy happy to not be giving 44% of my money to the grocery stores anymore!!! Thank you for the time effort and knowledge and my new part time job saving my family money…

Which Dominicks stores have the $2 Cottonelle blinkies?
These stores do not have them: Gurnee, Park Ridge (Higgins & Cumberland), Morton Grove (Dempster & Waukegan) and Des Plaines (Oakton & Lee).
