Hello, Super-Couponers! I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We did – and successfully avoided all Black Friday crowds! I did some online shopping and made a quick trip for Black Friday pharmacy deals, surprisingly finding everything I went in for, even though it was early evening by the time I finally got out… (told you I avoided the crowds!)
Also, I’m going to warn you now not to panic, but there aren’t a ton of deals this week. Why? The short answer: Leftovers! So many people have a house full o’food after a big holiday that the masses don’t make too many trips to the store for groceries. Hence, less money spent planning and advertising sales, and less money spent distributing coupon inserts on a week people typically don’t shop for food/household as much.
Sunday’s newspaper contained ONE coupon insert (P&G.) Normally we see NO inserts the week of Thanksgiving, but due to the timing of P&G being near the end of the month, that’s what we got. Section 1 of the Chicago Tribune also has a coupon for a free $25 Walgreens gift card when you transfer a prescription. It’s on page 7, so grab that too if you’re interested.
To our NEW blog readers: If you’re interested in learning to save on almost everything you buy at the grocery store, why not attend a live Super-Couponing workshop? If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog full Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Just back from CVS, and that Olay Regenerist deal I posted above worked great. Lipstick price was a little higher than when I checked prices last week, so I adjusted the writeup to note that. Any day I can get Regenerist for $6.23 is a VERY GOOD DAY. :)

HI- I went into the Dominick’s on Friday afternoon, after the braved the Black Friday crowd at Carson’s at the Lincolnwood Town Center. It was a zoo there Friday morning even at 11:00am.
This week on J4U they have an ecoupon for $1 off on Breyer’s ice cream. This is a one time use coupon, and they have Breyer’s on sale for $3, and so I got it for $2, which is about as good as you can get this time of year for ice cream. They also had Dole juice on sale for 2/$5, and there was a $1 coupon for it in the Sunday paper last month, and so that was only $1.50.
In case anybody is wondering the $2 coupon for Orville Redenbacher that is on J4U right now is only good for the popcorn in the bags. I did not realize it, and I bought a box of the microwave popcorn, thinking it was a good deal. It was still only $2.50, but it was mot 50 cents like I thought it would be.
I also got a free ecoupon for a breakfast sandwich at Dominick’s, which I used at a different Dominick’s on Friday morning after I dropped somebody off at O’Hare, and stopped in DesPlaines to visit a friend of mine.
The McCormick spice thing might still be going on at Dominick’s too. I know some people on MUM have gotten free parsley with that. This is for people that got 2 McCormick coupons simultaneously on their J4U. Right now McCormick spices are B2G1F.
Hope this helps, Nancy

I went over to Jewel to do the Stone Ridge Creamery ice cream deal and I forgot to put this in my writeup – the Stone Ridge Rainbow Sherbet is HFCS-free, for those of you avoiding high fructose corn syrup. It’s hard to find HFCS-free sherbet, and I love sherbet. So, this was a good price for me.
I also spotted (Huntley Jewel-Osco) that all Trident Layers (apple/pineapple flavor) are on clearance for .47. They were on the big clearance endcap in the middle of the store. With this B1G1F printable, they work out to about .24 per pack. Cheap gum. I’m not sure if all stores are clearancing this flavor, but if you like it, it might be worth printing & carrying the coupons.

In the deals you list a $1 coupon for Always pads in the 10/28 PG but all I can find are coupons for the Always Radiant pads, which are specifically excluded from the sale. Am I missing it? With three almost 14 yr. old daughters, I had hoped to stock up on pads! LOL

I can’t find the Dentyne Printable….for the Walgreens deal….Has it been taken off?

Jill – you said under CVS that you would have $26.23 towards the P&G rebate. How are you getting that total? Also – for the $50/$15 rebate (been so long since I’ve done one) do you have to deduct the coupons that you are using for the grand total or no? Does the free CG lip stain count towards it since it’s free? Also – I can use different receipts from different stores for this rebate too, right? I was thinking of combining the Charmin and Downey deal with the CVS items.

I went to the CVS on Randall & Ackman (technically it is CL not LITH). They said that they couldn’t do the B1G1F Q and the $2Q on just 2 products, I had to purchase 3. The lady checking me out said it wouldn’t work, she tried it earlier that day. So, did you get it to work? If so, how did they do it? Should I try the Algonquin one instead?
Also, for anyone going to CVS for the Puffs. Only the lotion cubes are advertised in the store, but the rest do ring up at $.99 ea.
