Hello Super-Couponers! Hope everyone has recovered from Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping madness..! It’s a lighter week of deals at the supermarkets this week, which is usually the case after a holiday. It’s also the reason we get little to no coupons in the paper after a holiday too — people typically don’t shop much because they’re home eating leftovers from last week’s big feast! So, enjoy this smaller (but still good) week of deals.
This week’s blog giveaway is a fun twist on the usual holiday cookie exchange with friends and family. Enter to win a Chex Party Mix-Change, with everything you need to whip up a batch of your favorite Chex Mix!

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)

“Spend $30, Get $10 Gift Card” Catalina sale Buying $30 worth of the following P&G items will generate a Catalina good for a $10 card at the Gift Card Mall! In the past, these deals have typically NOT included Jewel-Osco gift cards. This deal is also limit 2 per transaction — buying $60 worth of items will indeed generate two $10 offers, which is not the norm. Unless you need these items, these prices aren’t terribly hot. Some of the other P&G prices are better at CVS this week, as they have a lot of P&G in their $30/$10 deal too, including a super deal on Tide.
________________
UPDATE: Please chalk this up to not-feeling-100% for not putting this one together sooner, but reader Tobuy2 pointed out that the Old Spice body washes are good to work in with the B1G1F coupon out there for them. My reader was doing a different deal utilizing the Old Spice, but if you have enough coupons to do an ALL body-wash deal, it’s pretty good:
Jewel-Osco Old Spice body wash deal
Buy 8 bottles of Old Spice Body Wash ($31.92.)
Use two $1-off-2 coupons from 11/27 PG on the first four bottles and four B1G1F coupons from 10/30 PG on the second four.
Pay $13.96 and get a $10 gift card back – that’s $3.96 for 8, or about .50 each. And, this will give you a receipt for $25 worth of P&G to qualify for the “Taste of Home” mail-in offer for the free cookbook, 5-quart rice cooker and 12-quart tamale pot too. Figuring the kitchen items in does make this one a pretty good deal, and I did want to do that deal on the kitchen items.
“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
16-24oz. loaves of Natural Harvest bread are $2
12oz. Fresh Expressed bagged salads are .99 each
Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Here’s a $5-off-$25 printable coupon…

Jewel is running an “A Taste Of Home” mail-in promotion on P&G products. Buy $25 worth of P&G products in one transaction and receive a 2-piece cookware set and one cookbook of your choice via mail (view ad here.)
The cookware is a 12-quart tamale steamer, a 5-cup rice cooker, and one of the following cookbooks: “Fresh Mexico,” “Latin Grilling,” or “Cocina Cubana.” $25 worth of goods must be purchased in the same transaction, and you must submit a receipt from the same store you found the forms in (must be from Jewel – cannot use a Dominick’s receipt, etc.)
The offer runs through 4/30/12, so we have lots of time to line this up to Catalina sales too. Look for the forms for this rebate in Spanish/Latino Jewel locations.

Jewel launched a huge contest called “Wish Big, Win Big!” They’re giving away over $30,000,000 in prizzes and money-saving offers, including two $250,000 cash prizes, four new cars, 12 dream vacations, 100 iPads, 75 LED flat-screen TVs, and many other items. This giveaway runs through February 1, 2012. Here’s how to play…
You will earn a Game Ticket each time you make a qualifying purchase at Jewel-Osco between October 27th and February 1, 2012. Open the Game Ticket to reveal special coupon offers and four game markers. You’ll place your game markers on the Official Game Board, which you can pick up in the store. You an also earn bonus Game Tickets by purchasing specially-marked items in the store.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Jewel seafood deals:
- Ocean Market 4oz. seafood fillets are $1 each – that’s $4/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 per pound is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Load these offers at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?

Dominick’s is running another gift card deal. Spend $100 on gift cards and get a $10 Catalina (through 12/6.)The ad advises to see the gift card mall in the store for more details, but the ad is showing Lowes, Outback Steakhouse, Sears, Macys and iTunes gift cards as part of the deal.

Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford at times has a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: The Schnucks ad cycle is a WEDNESDAY to TUESDAY ad, which means these deals run through TUESDAY, DECEMBER 6th.

Note: When Hilander was owned by Kroger, you could use one coupon on each item in a B1G1F situation. Since Schnucks took over, I have not yet tried this out on a B1G1F sale. If you do the deal, please let me know if the way Hilander is handling B1G1F sales has changed. Thank you!

Buy one Dawn dish detergent (.79)

AND with these last two deals, make sure your ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club — you’ll get an extra $5 back in ECBs for every $50 spent on beauty, and both of these scenarios have a lot of beauty stuff goin’ on :)
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any of these deals. It gives you $5 in ECBs for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print ECBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Will CVS accept the pampers coupons for $2 off 2 if you don’t buy the wipes? The coupon states one pampers diapers or pants AND one pamapers wipes.

Hi Jill, I really hope you’ll take the time to get your strength back. Get well soon!
About these water chestnuts… they are a great deal when you use the $1.00/3 Jewel coupon. When I used one of those game piece coupons of 25c, the price per can dropped to less than 7 cents! (48c/can x3 = $1.44 minus $1Q is 44c, minus 25c game piece Q is 19c total).
So if someone would have 2 of these Jewel water chestnuts coupons, the whole lot would be free!

Unfortunately, the Jewel Gift Card Promotion where one spends $100 and gets a $20 Catalina ended on Thanksgiving, not 12/3. Tonight, I called two Naperville Jewels to confirm that the deal was still on … Unfortunately both stores reported that it ended a few days ago. Bummer :-(
P.S. Jill, I hope that you’re feeling better soon. Thanks for posting the deals tonight :-)

If you are doing the CVS Xtra detergent, there is a coupon for it:

I had the Thanksgiving one and all coupons expired 11/27/11. Is there one for Christmas?

Isn’t that sale for the Xtra Detergent for $1.49 a really good deal?
Thanks!!

Kroger/Hilander is not close by, so I don’t get a sales flyer. I would love to buy the Chex from Walmart by price matching. Does anyone know if I can print the ad out to show at Walmart? Will they accept that? I have lots of $1/1 box coupons I’d love to use.
teacherk says
I just called and they said they won’t honor it because they would view that as an online price. I told her it wasn’t an online price since I was only printing the ad…no go. Oh Walmart, I wonder why I avoid you half the time!

I posted this one above too. Please chalk this up to not-feeling-100% for not putting this one together sooner, but reader Tobuy2 pointed out that the Old Spice body washes are good to work in with the B1G1F coupon out there for them.
I did this today at Woodstock and it worked great (though they’re a bit low on body wash now…) If you also shop at Woodstock, the Taste of Home mail-in forms are in the cleaning aisle near the Febreze.
Interestingly, the Catalina that prints for the gift card does NOT exclude getting a Jewel gift card either. I liked that!

We recently moved, so Dominick’s is a new store for me. I just went in to add some coupons and personalized deals to my card. Can someone tell me if the personalized price on my card will always be used, even if a sale price is lower? For example, there is a cereal personalized price that is OK if we were out of cereal and needed it, but I don’t want to add it to my card if it keeps me from getting a lower sale price in the weeks to come. Thanks for your help!
dakota5 says
On the Crazy Olay deal at CVS how do you come up with two oral b toothbrushes adding up to $14.97? If they are the ones on the front page of the ad they are $4.99 each before coupons.
Thanks!

First, thank you for your wonderful blog!!! OK, was trying to work the gift card deal to include Regenerist rebate. Leaving out all the “gorey details,” how does one know for certain which product qualifies? Ad states “Regenerist Facial Care” & a $24.97 Regenerist moisterizer purchase did not qualify.
Calvin33 says
I did the Olay Regenerist deal this week, without rebate (because I had already done the Olay rebate), and I have to say this is an AWESOME deal for two reasons. #1, because it turns out this Olay product is fantastic! I got the night recovery cream, and I love it. I had never tried the Regenerist before and I am very happy with it – especially at this great price.
Reason #2 this is an awesome deal: When I showed my boyfriend all the stuff I got, and explained to him what it would normally have cost, he looked at me like I was a genius. LOL! I did give due credit to Jill for providing the deal scenario. Jill – you are a household name in my home. Every Sunday/Monday, he knows not to bother me while I am reading “Jill’s deals” and we both think it is wonderful all the money we’ve been able to save. Count me as one of your many fans! Thank you!

This week, there is a Duracell store coupon for $2 off. It does not say anywhere on the coupon that there is a limit like all of the others do. What does that mean? Can it only be used toward one Duracell pack or used toward all that are purchased? There was a Duracell coupon for $3 off 2 in Trib’s Thanksgiving coupon inserts for Black Friday. Would be great if I could stack this with the store coupon and get $3.50 off each pack.

I also have to add how great this CVS Oil of Olay deal was. It was super easy too. I didn’t get to go till today and was worried if they would still have the products. No problem. I find that CVS employees are always kind and courteous with all my coupons. Thanks again Jill. This was one of the best I have done yet!
