Hello, Super-Couponers! November is officially here! Hope you remembered to “Fall Back” and change your clocks yesterday… and gain that extra hour of sleep back too! I needed it after staying out late Saturday night with the women in the photo at right. Every one of them is a local Chicagoland deals blogger, and we met up at a local restaurant to swap stories, deals and enjoy a night out. How late can a bunch of coupon-talking bloggers stay up? Pretty late, as it turns out…
With the shakeup a few weeks ago, in which Rockford-area Hilander (Kroger) stores were bought out by Schnucks, I stopped blogging Kroger in favor of continuing on with Hilander’s (now Schnucks) ad. But over the past few weeks, I’ve been hearing from Kroger shoppers in Bourbonnais, Ottawa, and Streator, Illinois… (as well as the rest of the country!) asking where Kroger went. I am in the process of re-adding the Kroger deals, so bear with me as I get back in the groove of blogging Kroger once again. (We sure have a lot of supermarket chains in northern Illinois.)
This week, I’ve got another great blog giveaway for you! Want to win an Italian dinner for your family that you don’t have to make yourself? Enter to win one of two “Dinner is on Us!” giveaways from Michael Angelo’s!

“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, you do need to be getting the paper with the “best,” highest-value coupons.)

Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load Jewel Avenu ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons
I got an email this week saying that Jewel missed me! (Really! Have I not been there enough?) In the email was a $5-off-$25 printable coupon…
Duncan Hines Amazing Glaze (10oz.) is on sale for $1.25. Use this $1 printable and pay .25!
UPDATE: Reader Lizgrask posted that the “Freshly Made Holiday” coupon booklets that can be found at Jewel have a coupon for “FREE Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Cake Mix when you buy 2 Amazing Glazes.” If you have the book and are getting those bargain glazes, get a FREE cake mix with this too!
And, of course, the cake mixes are on a “Buy 4, get $1” Catalina sale too, which we’ll get to in a bit… use those FREE cake mixes toward your total of 4 for that Catalina. (There’s a .50 off for more cake mixes in the 11/6 SS1.)
Palermo’s Primo Thin Crust Pizzas are on sale for $5 each. Buy two and use this $1-off-2 printable You’ll pay $9 for two, or $4.50 each.
These are also a Bonus Game Ticket Item this week.
Buddig Original Wafer Lunchmeat (2oz.) is on sale for .67. Buy two and use the .55-off-2 coupon from 8/21 SS. You’ll pay .79 for two, or about .40 each!
Ever cooked with Panko Japanese breadcrumbs? They’re extra-crunchy and great for breading fish or chicken with. They’re also super-cheap this week at Jewel! Kikkoman Panko Crumbs sell for $2.39 at most Jewel locations. They’re also part of a National Catalina deal — buy two and get a .75 Catalina for your next trip.
To do the deal, we’re going to buy four, since we can print two of each coupon involved. You’ll need two Buy One, Get One Free coupons, which you can print from their site or from this link or from their Facebook page.
You’ll also need two $1 coupons for Kikkoman. (DO NOT print the $1 coupon from their Facebook page – that one’s only good in Canada!) You’ll find $1 coupons in the Dominick’s “Make a Muscle” coupon book, or use printables from this link.
Now, let’s put the deal together.
Buy four boxes of Kikkoman Panko Breadcrumbs ($9.56)
Use two $1 coupons on two boxes (now $7.56)
Use two B1G1F coupons on the other two boxes (now $2.78)
Pay $2.78 and get two .75 coupons back. That drops everything to $1.28 for four, or .32 per box! Great price!
There’s also a .75 printable here if either of the others hit their limits.
Here’s a good deal on Hillshire Farms smoked sausage that several readers also spotted over at Mashup Mom!
Hillshire Farms smoked sausages are on sale for $4 each. There’s a $2-off-2 store coupon in the Jewel-Osco coupon book from LAST week’s paper (remember, those coupons are still good this week!) Buy two and stack this with the $1-off-2 coupon from 10/16 RP. You’ll pay $5 for two sausages, or $2.50 each.
But we’re not done… because Hillshire Farms are part of a National Catalina deal too! When you buy two or more, you’ll also get a $2 Catalina. So, you’ll pay $5 and get $2 back, making these $3 for two, or $1.50 each!
Jewel has another large “The More You Shop, The More You Save” Catalina sale going! There is no limit to the number of items you can buy or Catalinas you can receive in one transaction. Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Jewel meat deals:
- Whole fryer chickens are .99/lb. ($1.29/lb. for Perdue)
- Perdue turkey drumsticks, wings or necks are $1.79/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- 3lb. bags of yellow onions are .99 – that’s .33/lb.
- 2lb. bags of whole carrots are .99 – that’s about .50/lb.
- 3lb. bags of Michigan red delicious apples are $1.99 each – that’s .66/lb.
- 16oz. sleeves of celery are .99
- Fresh broccoli or cauliflower is $1.49/lb.
- Fresh green beans are $1.79/lb.
(Anytime meat is under $2 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $2 per pound is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices. This is also true for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less.)
UPDATE: With beef prices (commodities) slated to rise, some reader have emailed to ask if I would also blog the $2.49 or less meat deals. I will now be including meat deals up to $2.49/lb. in weekly writeups.
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also, in Chicago, support for previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s is also offering Deal Match, where you can load price-matching offers from Jewel and Target to your Fresh Values Card. Try it at www.Dominicks.com.
Dominick’s Super Coupons:
These are store coupons found in the weekly Dominick’s flyer, which (in the case of the name-brand products) means they can be stacked with manufacturer coupons for even bigger savings. You can also load some of these Super Coupons to your Fresh Values card via Dominicks.com and not have to clip them. Best bets this week?
In the November 3-November 9 flyer – “Hot Deals Just For U” on cover:
- Kleenex Facial Tissue (50-200ct.) is on sale for .99, limit 2, with Super Coupon.
In the November 6-November 9 flyer – “4 Day Sale” on cover:
- Reynolds Wrap or Vanity Fair Napkins (75 sq. ft. foil, 30 sq. ft. parchment, or 80-200ct. napkins) are $2.49 each, limit 5, with Super Coupon. Use the .50 Reynolds coupon from 10/2 SS and pay $1.99! I found $1 Parchment tearpads on the shelf too, which will drop the parchment paper to $1.49! Or use the .55 Vanity Fair coupon from 8/14 RP and pay $1.94! There’s also a $1-off-2 Vanity Fair printable here and another one here.
- Safeway frozen vegetables (12-16oz.) are .99 each, limit 4, with Super Coupon.
- Lucerne shredded or chunk cheeses (6-8oz.) are $1.99, limit 2, with Super Coupon.
There is also a “Great Prices for Thanksgiving” ad that is filled with coupons. They’re good through 11/24! Many of these are general “.50 off” coupons that don’t tell you the actual selling price of the item. But of the ones with prices on them, and the ones I matched to Safeway’s online price guide, these look the best this week:
- Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce (12-14oz.) is $1.69. Buy two and use the $1-off-2 coupon from the flyer. Stack it with this $1-off-2 printable. You’ll pay $1.38 for two, or .69 each!
- Dole Pinapple (20oz.) is .99 a can, limit 2, with flyer coupon. Dole Tropical Fruit Salad (15.25oz.) is also .99 a can, limit 2, with flyer coupon. Buy two and use the .50 off 2 coupon from 11/6 SS1 or a printable. You’ll pay $1.48 for two, or .74 per can! (It is cheaper per can at Jewel this week if you’re headed there.)
MONDAY ONLY DEALS:
DiGiorno Pizzas With Sides are $5 each. Use the $1.25 coupon from 10/16 RP and pay $3.75! These are the Pizza With Wyngz, Pizza & Cookies, or Pizza & Breadsticks kinds, so pick your favorite and enjoy – that’s CHEAP!
Cheetos and Fritos are also 3-for-$5, or $1.67 each.
Dominick’s has a few good “Just For U”-only sales running this week. Head over to www.dominicks.com and load ecoupons for:

Ocean Spray Cranberry Cocktail (64oz.) is on sale for $2 per bottle. It’s part of an instant savings sale too – buy two Ocean Spray Cranberry, get a FREE 64oz. bottle of Ocean Spray Cranberry With a Hint Of Lime. But we’re not done…
Also, print this coupon for Free Ocean Spray® Sparkling with purchase of 2-64 oz Juice Drinks! Then, of course… remember to pick up your Ocean Spray Sparkling too! You’ll pay $4 for everything!
Quaker Instant Oatmeal (11.5-15oz.) is on sale for $3. Buy one and use the $1 coupon from October All You. You’ll pay $2!
Prego Pasta Sauce (23-24oz.) is on sale for $1.69 per jar. Buy three and use the $1-off-3 from 9/11 SS2. You’ll pay $4.07 for three, or about $1.36 per jar.
There’s a “Buy 10, Save $5” deal on Rice a Roni and Pasta Roni this week. The regular prices of these are $1.45 each, so if you buy ten, you’ll pay $9.50, or .95 each. Not super-great in my opinion.
IF you’re buying a turkey this week, there’s a coupon for $3 off Butterball when you buy 4 participating items. One of those items is Stove Top Stuffing, which is on sale for .88 per box this week. You could buy four boxes for $3.52, and get $3 off the turkey — it makes the stuffing .52. But… again… got to buy a turkey.
However, you can do the deal this way – use the Price Match at Dominicks.com and match Target’s .97/lb. price on Butterball this week. You will need to load this discount to your card like an ecoupon.
If you do not wish to buy a turkey this week, Stove Top at .88 a box is still a good buy. It is limit 8.

More baby deals! Beech-Nut Stage 2 baby food jars are .40 each (NOT a good price.) But, with this $1-off-3 printable, you’ll pay .20 for three, or about .07 per jar! (There’s a $2-off-16 coupon here too, though that’s not as good a deal.)
As an aside, a lot of people email asking how to save on baby food. Even with the occasional coupon deal, baby food is some of the most expensive food you will ever buy, ounce per ounce. When my children were babies, I made 95% of their “baby food” with a $10 mini food processor at home… it’s very easy to whip and puree fruits and vegetables right when you need them versus jar feeding. But, when I would hit super-cheap deals like this, I’d buy some jars to have on hand for nights we’d eat out or away from home.
Another baby food tip… when I did buy jarred baby food, I never bough pureed bananas or apples. Fresh bananas are super-easy to mash in a bowl with the back of a spoon. I would buy large jars of natural applesauce with no added sweeteners and feed that instead — again, ounce per ounce, these are two of the cheapest “baby foods” to make at home. I’d save my jar purchases for mixed fruits and berries or other varieties/flavors that weren’t as easy to make. And this has been your “saving on baby food” tip of the day!
2-liters of Meijer Encore Soda are .77. Mperks has a .50 ecoupon, making this .27!

“No Coupon Needed” Deals:
32oz. bags of Pilgrim’s Pride Southern Style Chicken Breast Strips are $3.99 – that’s about $2/lb. We really like these – they’re like restaurant-style breaded chicken strips that need to be baked in the oven, not microwaved. Chicken fingers for grownups!
64oz. cartons of Meijer orange juice, Orange Blends or Pineapple Blends are $2
6ct. Meijer Applesauce Cups (24oz. total) are $1.67 each
5lb. bags of Meijer Flour are $1.49

Are you a Meijer Mperks member? Mperks is a different set of electronic Meijer coupons. They’re attached to your cellphone number, but aside from one text message to activate your account, you do not need to use text messaging to continually use them. Once you register with Meijer Mperks, you log into the Mperks website and click the electronic coupons you’d like to load to your account. Then, when you’re at the checkout, type your cellphone number into the keypad at the register, and your coupons come off automatically.

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.

Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. I have had some readers from DeKalb write and ask if these deals will also apply to their store. In looking at both ads, SOME of the deals are the same, but Rockford has been having a Hilander-specific wraparound that isn’t a part of the DeKalb Schnucks ad. Remember too that the DeKalb store does not double coupons.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: The Schnucks ad cycle is a WEDNESDAY to TUESDAY ad, which means these deals run through TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8th.

Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!

In the Dominick’s section for Fresh Express Salad Blends (5-12oz.) is linked to a coupon that is for 18 oz. Italian & Hearts of Romaine. The sizes do not match up.
I generally follow a few blogs and message boards and get most of the deals and look at your deals on Sunday/Monday for something that I may have missed. The last two weeks, I have been excited b/c there have been “deals” that you have posted that I have not seen. Last week, I drove to the store for sugar and it was the wrong coupon match up. This week, I was observant and noticed that the coupon was for the wrong size. While I realize it is a HUGE undertaking to post the deals of the week, it would seem that with such a large following it would be important to make sure that all your coupon match ups do indeed match up.

CVS on Randall Road in Crystal Lake had 4 count (lady) disposables for $8.79, where package also included 2 free. I was also able to stack a $2 off disposable MFR coupon with a B1G1 Free MFR coupon.
I was informed at checkout that CVS coupon policy was recently changed. If I had tried to use a second $2 off (disposable) in this, they wouldn’t take it. (Wasn’t an issue, because she misread my $2 off cartridges coupon…)
Hope this might help someone else build a deal!

Meijer has Pillsbury Ready To Bake cookie dough and other products for $2 each. There are a number of $1/2 coupons printable if you search CouponTom. If you buy 4 packages, you get a free gallon of milk. So for $6, you get 4 packages of cookie dough (or Sweet Moments or pie crusts) and a gallon of milk. Pretty good deal (in my opinion).

I went to CVS to buy the Youth Code Start Kit ($34.99) and I had my $2 off coupon. When I scanned my Extra Care card I also received a $15 off EB coupon because of the Beauty Club purchases I had made the previous week!
I was so happy to get the YC kit for $17.99 plus got another $10 EB coupon. I am holding on to all my EBs because I’m using them for my Black Friday purchase at CVS!!!

Alas, I blew my extra hour shopping online when I got home instead of sleeping.
Was great to finally meet you in person!

I had printed 2 sets of coupons for the deal and customer service said I could’nt use them because it had the same barcode. I had printed them off Smartsource so I was pretty surprised when she looked at me as if I made copies of it. I’m not sure whether other people are going to run into same problem.
Panko was $2.10 @ Jewel in Naperville.

I tried using the coupon from the link for the free 4 pack when buying the 2 OS cranberry juices and my store would not take it! According to their website they will not accept any printed coupons that are for free items!! Anyone else run into this problem?

I bought 4 Kikkoman (3 Panko and 1 tempura batter mix for 1.79!)and got 1 $0.75 cat and 1 $0.75 off 2 Kikkoman Panko Qs. did I not get the second cat because it wasn’t all panko?
Also bought 4 Dole pineapple but did not get a $0.50 cat, just the $1.00.
Not too upset however; I can proudly say this was my best shopping trip to date. I can just never figure out why it seldom goes the way I plan it LOL
Thanks for all your hard work, Jill!

TGI Friday’s Single Serve Entrees – $2
* Buy 4 and get a $4 Catalina
– $1 off – 10/23 SS, printable
– $1 off 2 – printable
* DEAL IDEA: Buy 4 entrees. Use four $1 coupons. Pay $4 and get $4 back, making ALL FOUR MEALS FREE!
********************************
Awesome deal! I did this deal at the self check out register and my $4.00 catalinas printed out right away, before I even paid for my purchase. When the cashier came to scan my coupons, she let me use all of my catalinas (that just printed out) on that order! Also, the $1.50/1 TGIF coupon worked for these purchases too. The cashier took them and said as long as they don’t beep, they’re fine. They didn’t beep! I got 16 meals for only about $1.00! They would have all been free but I didn’t have any more manufacturer coupons. I’m going back to get the Green Giant vegetables, and a couple other deals, since I know the catalinas will print out right away. :-)

The Jewel I went to didnt seem to carry this item and I didnt see a tag for it either. Was going to Dominicks and they had it for $2.19.
Bought 8 for $17.52 less $12.76 (4 BOGO Qs and 4 $1 Qs) which comes to $4.76. Received 4 $.75 Cats for a net cost of $1.76….thats .22 a box! And like I needed more of this product received a mfg Q for .75 off two more boxes.

Do some Jewel stores carry the “Deliciously Simple Holiday Recipes” and others not? Mine didn’t have it today. But they did have one called “Freshly Made Holiday”. Also a Keebler/Kelloggs Q book at the Christmas Keebler cracker display.

Thanks Jill!!! I did the free Duncan Hines Cake Mix, cheap Pillsbury Brownies, and Puffs tissue deals and they worked out great. Appreciate your time posting those Hilander deals.
Have you seen a better price on those Puffs tissues or is that about an average deal on those? I saw a sign on tag that said the deal is going through close to the end of the month 11/29 or some date close to that.

Hi Jill, Thanks for all that you do, I know you hear that all the time, but it’s never enough, and it never gets old. I wanted to know if you knew about Jewel’s new policy. Supposedly, they have not updated their policy yet, but I went there last night to do the Kikkoman B1G1 with the additional 1 off cpn,and they told me they no longer accept cpns for free items. She wasn’t going to take any of my printables either, even the 5 off 25. I called a manager over, and she agreed to take the 5 off because I explained how it comes through e-mail and you have to print it. She said that they no longer will accept free cpns on items. Have you seen or heard this as well? I know people on here don’t care much for Dominick’s, but I have to say, their new cpn system and the deals they give, I just feel that is my best bang for my buck and it’s so much simplier and less time consuming there.

Bought some 365 white chocolate morsels for .99 cents after $2.00 store coupons- it was supposed to be .69 cents though – (last time when they screwed up the price they gave the item free) / arrowmills flour free (on sale for $1.99, $1 store coupon + $1 manufacturer coupon), Pacific organic condensed soup 2/$4 – used 2 $1 manufacturer coupons and $1/2 store coupon – paid $1 for 2.

I was at Target in Yorkville on Sunday and they had a tear pad of coupons on an end cap for Buy 4 Get 1 Free on the Stove Top Stuffing. Stacked it with the $3 off Butterball Turkey and 4 Stove Tops and essentially got my turkey plus 5 boxes of Stove Top for $0.56!

If I wanted to buy multiples of 6 of the Green Giant canned veggies, could I do it in one transaction and get the multiple cats back? I know usually u can’t, but the wording in the paper makes it seem like u can.

The Dom’s in Mt Prospect doesn’t carry those new flavors of Quaker Oatmeal, so I couldn’t use the All You coupon. Don’t know if all Dom’s are the same. I was really glad I printed out my Just 4You shopping list before I went, because the register did not give me the correct price on the Reynolds foil/parchment, Vanity Fair napkins, Twinings Tea, Safeway Veggies or the Ocean spray free twist of lime beverage. They were very nice about refunding my money, but I can’t imagine how I would have proved it without that shopping list. I’m always printing it out from now on. They did take my coupon for the free Ocean Spray sparkling drin without a problem.

The Jewel on Army Trail and Bloomingdale Rd has the Freshly Made Holiday coupon books and the buy 4 get 1 free for stove top. It has it’s own display with the tear pads.

I printed 2/$2 Qs from the Wounded Warrior site. Used the 2 Qs at Jewel *Buy 2 @ $9.99, use 2 $2 Qs, get 2-$1 Cats – $6.99 each!
Also, the Woodridge Jewel has the Panko bread crumbs priced at $2.09, making the final cost after the deal .17 each! They still had stock on the shelf.

Sorry if this has already been previously posted, but you can use the $1 off any Carmex lotion from 10/30 RP to get a free lotion at Walgreens. They have a small size which sells for 99 cents.

So I was able to print 4 of the $1.50 off of (2) Market Pantry frozen chicken items; I attempted to buy (8) of the chicken burritos, the cashier gave me some story she is not suppose to let me use the coupons on the chicken burritos, you are suppose to buy the bags of frozen chicken. I mentioned the coupon does not have any limits to what you need to buy, she said “You are suppose to buy what the coupon has a picture of on it…”
I mean really now we are matching photos on the coupons to what we are to buy to use the coupon!!!

I was unable to find the Kikkoman Panko bread crumbs at any of my Jewels, however Target had plenty… better deal at Target then Jewel anyway…
One box is $1.89 so with
(1) B1G1 and (1) $.75 off, I paid
$1.14 for two boxes or $.57 each, and I still ended up getting the $.75 off (2) Cat!
