HAPPY SHOPPING, and please feel free to post some of your scenarios too — they help everyone learn and spot more deals :)
Over at Dominick’s… is there much of anything going on? (Hey Dominick’s… we are LONG overdue for a GOOD Catalina or instant-savings deal. Dominick’s hasn’t stepped it up since the Frozen Food $25/$10 in March and the Living Well $30/$10 in May..! What gives?)
Anyway, if you must go to Dominick’s this week, they have a sale running on Barilla pasta and Classico pasta sauces. Buy 2 Classico at $2 each and get 2 free boxes of Barilla instantly at the register.
Make this better with coupons – with a $1 off 2 Classico from 10/19/08 SS. And, if your Dominick’s will allow you to use a coupon on the Barilla too (some won’t, because it’s going to be “free” & Dominick’s allows their cashiers a lot of latitude in “interpreting” their policy) – use the $1 off 2 from 8/23 SS. Then you’ll pay just $2 for 2 sauces and 2 pastas…
Lastly for Doms… if you have the 2009 Entertainment Book, remember that there’s a $5 off $50 coupon in there too that you can work into one of your Dominick’s trips before the book expires at the end of this year. If you use this, always give the cashier that coupon FIRST, before the rest of your coupons, as your total will probably (hopefully!) dip under $50 after the rest of your coupons. And, if you’re interested in the 2010 Entertainment Book, it’s got FOUR $5-off-$50 coupons for Dominick’s in it, valid this fall and throughout the next year. Nice!
At Meijer, Ideal no-calorie sweetener continues to be FREE with a coupon! Grab the 9/13 RP insert and clip your Ideal coupon!
BirdsEye frozen vegetables are also a good deal this week. They’re $1.25 each. Use the Mealbox coupon for $1 off 2, and stack this with the .35 BirdsEye manufacturer coupon from 9/13 SS. You’ll pay just $1.16 for 2, or .58 each! If you have a second .35 manufacturer coupon for the second bag, you’ll pay .80 for 2, or .40 each…
Meijer shredded or chunk cheeses (5-8oz.) are also on sale for .99 each, limit 4. Even without coupons, that’s a good price…
And, Cook’s Smoked Shank Ham is on sale for .89/lb. That’s a steal for any meat..!
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes. This is why I don’t blog too many Meijer deals…
Over at Target, if you remember the Chef Michael’s dog food deal from a few weeks ago, it’s back again, and the price is almost as good as last time! Bags of Chef Michael’s are $4.49 at Target. Use the $3 manufacturer coupon from 10/11 SS and stack it with the $1 Target coupon from 8/30 SS. You’ll pay just .49 a bag!
Continuing again this week at Target, you could potentially take home some CHEAP mascara! Rimmel “Extra Super Lash” is marked down to $2.29 at many Target locations. Pair this with the $2 coupon from 8/23 RP and take it home for just .29 — this variety is the only kind I’m aware of being marked down, so check with the price scanner to make sure you’ve got the right one.
For my Rockford-area readers, Hilander the good deal on Totino’s pizza rollscontinues … they’re .99 a box. With the .35 coupons from 8/9 SS and 9/13 SS (which will double to .70) you’ll pay just .29 a box!
Nature Made vitamin supplements are cheap this week too. They’re $3.79, Buy One, Get One Free. Let’s drive the price of both down with some good coupons – use two $1 coupons from 8/2 SS, 9/27 SS, and/or 10/4 SS. With 2 coupons, pay $1.79 for 2 – or about .90 each!
Have you seen the electronic coupons for Hilander/Kroger stores? SoftCoin recently added support for Kroger stores (including Hilander) for their new electronic coupons for Unilever products! Click here to check them out… they load to your card the same way that Cellfire/PGE/ShortCuts do, meaning we now have FOUR sets of electronics we can stack with at Kroger stores. WOW!
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens, the good deal on Gillette Fusion MVP razors continues! They are $8.99. Use the $4 coupon from 9/27 PG, pay $4.99… and get $6 back in RRs! FREE razor and a MONEYMAKER!
More RR freebies…
ChapStik Fresh Effects are $2.99 with a $2.99 RR! FREE!
EmergenC energy boost is $3.49 with a $3.49 RR. FREE!
Vaseline Sheer Infusion lotion is $6.99 with a $6.99 RR! FREE!
Dentek dental floss picks are $2 with a $2 RR! FREE without coupons. With the $1 coupon from 10/11 or a printable, pay $1 and get $2 back! MONEYMAKER!
Halls Refresh cough drops are $1 with a $1 RR! FREE without coupons. With the .75 coupon from 9/27 SS, pay a quarter and GET $1 BACK! MONEYMAKER!
Remember, you can only buy ONE of each item per transaction (2 lotions will only give you one RR, etc.) And, don’t roll RRs over on the same kinds/brands of products or you will not receive the next one…
Did you see the $8 RR deal running this week when you buy selected products? The best deal this week is on Skippy peanut butter and Ragu pasta sauces! They’re 3 for $5, or $1.67 each, and if you buy 8 or more, get $8 back.
10/4 RP – $1 off 2 Skippy
9/13 RP – $1 off 2 Ragu
If you buy 4 Skippy and 4 Ragu, your pre-coupon total is $13.36. With the 2 coupons above, pay $11.36 and get $8 back! Four peanut butters and four pasta sauces for $3.39! That works out to just .43 each!
If you’re a multiple insert person who gets two (or more) newspapers, use two of each of those coupons shown. Pay $9.36 and get $8 back! You will pay just $1.36 for your eight jars… that’s a whopping .17 each…
There’s also a pretty decent diaper deal going on Huggies this week at Wags. Huggies jumbo packs of diapers are on sale for $9 a pack. When you buy 2, you get $4 back in Register Rewards.
Use coupons to bring this down even more. June All You has a $2 coupon for Huggies. Huggies often mails high-value coupons out in the postal mail as well – use them if you’ve got them! And, if you printed any of the $2 Huggies coupons from the Natures Goodness baby food web site last week (coupon is now no longer available) use those here too. With two $2 coupons, pay $14 for 2 packs and get $4 back – that works out to $5 a pack.
If you have the current Walgreens activity book (found in coloring book section of some stores – book is .99 and has $1 store coupon inside for Huggies) – stack that in here. With the $1 coupon taking an additional dollar off EACH pack, pay $12 and get $4 back – works out to $4 a pack.
And, if you prefer Pullups, stack this Walgreens store coupons for $2 off each pack of PullUps with your $2 Huggies coupons. With $4 off each pack, pay $10 and get $6 back… that’s $3 a pack..!
And over at CVS, they have some Halloween freebies through Tuesday (TODAY) only! Pick up a 4-in-1 pumpkin carving tool for $1.99 and get a $1.99 ECB! And, you can also grab a nylon Halloween treat bag for .99… with a .99 ECB!
FREE coupons that are still current:
8/30 SS – FREE roll of Marcal toilet paper, paper towels, or facial tissue (exp. 10/15/09)
10/4 RP – FREE Super Poligrip denture adhesive (exp. 10/18/09)
9/13 SS – $1 off ANY purchase at a store that takes coupons when you use your Discover card (exp. 10/31/09)
9/27 SS – FREE Friskies Natural Sensations Cat Treats
(exp. 11/30/09)
8/2 SS – FREE jar Beech-Nut Stage 3 Fruit baby food (exp. 12/31/09) [regional insert for NON-Tribune newspapers – a rarity]
9/13 SS – FREE Freshpet Select Homestyle refrigerated pet meal (exp. 12/31/09) [regional insert for NON-Tribune newspapers – another rarity]
As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically 20-30 of them. Many websites are now tracking the All You coupons and matching them to deals, just as they do with the newspaper coupon inserts. You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)
Do you like these deals? Want to learn how to get deals like this on almost EVERYTHING that you buy? If you have a B1G1F Q, or in the case of the Clorox wipes, B2G1F, does the price of the “free” one count toward the $10 needed?

I was told Saturday that Dentek pulled their promotion at Wags. The manager said that no more RR will print. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!!!

Was there a problem with it ?I was going to write it down last night and now it is gone :-(

Hi Jill – I noticed that you did not post your Black Belt information. Does this mean that you actually have to spend the $10 Preferred Price?
Ruby Red says
Yes, that does help! And that is a GREAT scenario for the cookie dough, yum!

I did the Jewel $10/$3 deal this morning, and picked up a box of Crunch n Clean dog biscuits (my dog loves them). I got a CAT for free Milk Bones at checkout……..since I didn’t buy any other pet-related items, I bet the Hartz purchase triggered the Milk Bones CAT, so this is a nice bonus to an already good deal.

In case you want to try it, I used 2 of the printable coupons for the Hartz Crunch n’ Clean dog biscuits and got a free Milk-Bone dog snack catalina. That’s free biscuits AND dog snacks with overage! (I’m assuming this catalina is related to the biscuits. They were the only pet items in my cart.)

The Hormel Chili Master B1G1F is in the next sale ad too, so it looks like it’s running for 10/15-10/21 also. There is also a coupon in the sale flyer (center page of the flyer) for a FREE Shoppers Value Saltines when you purchase any TWO Hormel Chili Master Chili. Makes it an even better deal!
Lynzee1221 says
I got an ad from Jewel yesterday that had a new Catalina deal on the back. It was one of the spend $25 and get $10 back. I do not remember everything included in it, but there was a LARGE selection of items included, all of which are on sale with preferred card. I suggest all you savvy coupon cutters check it out!
mamagatz says
JEWEL – The Hormel pork loins were B1G1 again, the Wet Ones were part of the $3 off $10 deal, and the charcoal was $7+ per 18 lb bag. The grill q’s are good until 12/31.
Thank you Jill – I spent $129 today on $260 in groceries. I had $43 in q’s, $88 in pref card savings including the $33 from $3 off $10 I did 11 times. Sweet that there were no multiple transactions necessary!!
WAGS – I have to go back for the sauce at Wags – totally remembered as I was unloading the diapers into my house!
There’s a $2 off Dry Idea roll-on IP out there (I had 2) and they are B1G1 free at $5.29, so I could use both q’s for cheap roll-on. I like Ban too so I got it for 2/$2 after RRs.

I was just at my local Walgreens and they wouldn’t stack the Waglreens coupon for $2 off Huggies Pull Ups and the manufacturer coupon for $2 off Huggies Pull Ups. The cashier said I would have to buy 4 to use all of my coupons.

when it says “with coupon” on the deals of the week for Jewel…where do you get the specific coupons from? Newspaper, magazines, etc…I am assuming so but just wanted to check?
