It’s time for this week’s deals!
Want even more free shampoo at Walgreens this week? Pert Plus is still on sale at Wags for $3.49, and the deal just got better… use the $2.00 coupon from this past Sunday’s paper with the $2.50 off Pert coupon in the EasySaver catalog, and you’ll be saving $4.50 on your $3.49 Pert! That’s right, the store will be paying you $1.01 to take the Pert home!
As with any overage deal, you MUST buy other items to “eat up” the overage. The store will not give you cash and free Pert. So add one or two of these other deals with this and save more…
Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold medicine is $4.99. When you buy it, you’ll get a $4.99 Register Reward, making this FREE too! (Make sure you buy the original type – I am hearing the orange and other flavors do not offer the RR, even though the sign says they should. If you get one of the other flavors and it doesn’t print, refer to the sign on the shelf.)
Yet another moneymaker deal… this time on Benefiber Stick drink powder. The 16-ct. Strawberry Kiwi flavor drink mix is on sale for $7.99. If you buy 3, you’ll get an $8 Register Reward. Use the $5 off coupon in the EasySaver (it will take $5 off EACH box) and 3 of the $2 off Benefiber coupons from 7/13 SS, 8/17 SS, 9/21 SS and 10/19 SS (some are for “any Benefiber product” and some are for Benefiber Stick – either will work.)
So, buy 3. Pay $2.97… and get an $8 RR! Remember, this only works on the Strawberry Kiwi variety of Benefiber Stick!
Still at Walgreens, there’s an unadvertised Register Reward deal running on St. Ives Elements face care products. (If you’re not comfortable doing a RR deal in which there’s no documentation for it, don’t — some new couponers want a guarantee that they’ll get the RR printed right in the flyer, but not all Catalina deals are advertised. However, it’s a great deal!)
St. Ives Elements products are on sale for $4.99. When you buy one, you’ll get a $5 Register Reward, making one FREE. But as with all good deals, it gets better! The 8/10 SS has a B1G1F coupon in it – so you’ll buy 2 for $4.99 and earn $5 in RRs! 2 free products! Now that’s a deal!
If you don’t have last week’s coupon, here’s a way to do the deal that makes it not only free but a moneymaker… print two $2 coupons. Buy your St. Ives ONE item at a time. Pay $2.99 per item and get a $5 RR! If you buy 2 (in 2 separate trips through the register) you will spend $5.98 and make $10 – plus have 2 free St. Ives! Thanks to blog reader Msdaly for figuring this out!
Edit: Here’s a scan of the Catalina that advertised this RR deal, if you would like “proof” it’s running! Thanks to blog user Black Vanilla for emailing this to me.
(Note: Some readers are reporting a weird result from this deal – the Catalinas that print say “$2.00” on them but are actually scanning / ringing up with a value of $5.00. As with all Catalina deals, you have to be willing to take a little risk – but it’s a good deal if you want to try. Especially when you combine the Pert deal’s overage toward your St. Ives! Remember though, you will only get 1 $5 RR per transaction. If you’re buying 4 bottles all at once, you’ll only get 1 $5 RR – so you will want to split your orders up according to the coupons that you have.)
Glade Scented Oil Plug-Ins continue to be your moneymaking friend this week! They’re $5.49 each at Jewel (be careful as some with a built-in fan cost over $7 — you want the basic oil plug-in.) For each one you purchase, a Catalina will print for $4.00 off your next order. Use the B1G1F Glade Scented Oil Plug-Ins coupon from 9/28 SS and pick two up for $5.49… and get $8.00 back in Catalinas good on your next order! That’s a $2.51 profit!
Note that this same Catalina deal is also running at Dominick’s, Kmart and Meijer this week, albeit unadvertised. If you try it there and don’t get what you want, as with many Catalina deals, there’s not much you can do other than return your items for a refund. But if you like taking chances and can’t find them at Jewel, one of those stores should do the trick as well. As this is the third Glade Catalina deal running this month, everyone’s homes ought to smell ridiculously fresh now :)
Last week I posted links to print coupons for $1 off Johnson’s Buddies soap. These children’s bars of soap are on sale for $1 or less at many stores, including Target and Wal-Mart. Well, if you didn’t pick up the Buddies soaps yet, don’t worry, because the deal just got better! Meijer has these soaps Buy 2, Get 1 Free, so if you take 2 coupons over and buy 3 soaps… they’ll ALL be FREE!
Buddies links:
$1 off Johnson’s Buddies Soaps
$1 off Johnson’s Buddies Soaps
$2 off 2 Johnson’s Buddies
$2 off 2 Johnson’s Buddies
$1 off 1 Johnson’s Buddies
$1 off 1 Johnson’s Buddies
$1 off any Johnson’s product
There are a LOT of links out right now for these soaps – if you print two from each, that’s 18 bars of soap!
Still at Meijer, how about a South Beach moneymaker? South Beach cereal bars are on sale for $2. Print two $2 coupons and get them FREE. Best part? A Catalina for $2 off your next order will print at checkout… making this a $2 moneymaker! You will only get one $2 Catalina per transaction, so if you have more coupons, you may want to make a couple trips through the lane.
And, still at Meijer, here’s a fun way to get some cheap shampoo AND a free haircut! Herbal Essences shampoos and conditioners are on sale 2/$5.00. There’s a $3-off-2 coupon in the 10/12 PG inserts, which makes each one just $1. Now check THIS out:
Free haircut offer from Herbal Essences
Buying your 2 bottles of Herbal Essences will cost you $2 — and you’ll get a voucher back via the web rebate form for a free haircut at your choice of participating salons! Make sure you look for the Herbal Essences with the GREEN sticker on the bottle (shown in the link above) as only the stickered bottles work with this promotion.
Additionally, they’re running a second promotion, also with green stickers, for a free manicure or pedicure at your choice of participating salons. If you’d rather have that, buy 2 of those bottles, and go here to redeem it.
You may find these bottles at any store, not just Meijer — it’s just that Herbal Essences is on sale the cheapest at Meijer this week. Happy shopping!
Note: All Meijer sales listed run through Wed. Oct. 22 at the following Meijer locations: Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles. (Why not other locations? Meijer stores run on a weird sales cycle where these were LAST week’s sales at the other Meijers. Don’t blame me – that’s just how they work.)
For those of you that like Catalina deals, here’s a pretty good one at Jewel: Buy 6 boxes of Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn at $2.00 each (sale price.) Pay your $12 and get $5.00 back, making them each $1.16 a box.
Now that’s not a great deal, so you’ll want to use some coupons:
9/21 SS – $1.00 off Orville
10/12 SS – 40 cents off Orville
$1.00 off Orville Naturals (print 2 )
Using these 4 will bring it down to $8.60, and you’ll get $5 back – so then they’ll be 60 cents a box. That’s better!
Now, if you get multiple papers, or have several computers… if you somehow can get/use $6 $1.00 off coupons, you’ll pay $6.00 for 6 and get $5 back, paying $1 for 6 boxes. And therein lies the deal :) This runs through Oct. 23. And because it’s unadvertised, again, you’re taking a chance doing this. If the machine is operating correctly and what not, you will be just fine and get some cheap popcorn :) If you’re not comfortable doing unadvertised Catalina deals, skip it. This deal runs through 10/22.
Now, here’s an exception to the “shop Sun-Wed” rule. Jewel’s having a $1.49 sale on Kellogg’s cereal Thursday-Saturday. Print 6 $1.00 off Kelloggs coupons and pick up 6 boxes for just 49 cents each!
To close out this week’s deals, doesn’t your dog want something free too? There’s a coupon for FREE Pedigree Good Bites dog treats -in the 10/12 RP inserts! You can get these at the store of your choice.
Potential FREE Tacos! (Who doesn’t want free tacos?) Taco Bell is running a “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” promotion in conjunction with the World Series. If a base is stolen during games 1-4, receive your free taco on Tuesday, October 28th between 2:00-6:00pm! If a base is stolen during games 5-7, receive your free taco on Monday, Nov. 3rd. (Hey, it’s not a grocery deal, but it is FREE food, and who doesn’t like that?)
Web Freebies:
Free Alpo dog food (Play the game and they’ll mail you a free coupon)

FYI – I just came from WAGS and bought St. Ives – a $2 catalina printed out (not $5), however, I redeemed it on my 2nd order and you actually receive $5 off. So the catalina is misprinting – but you in fact get $5 off your next order.

Needed it, and did it earlier today. Didn’t know you were going to post it. Cool. I figured it out on my own…
Anyway, The shelf says both the orange and cherry are included in getting the RR [in WDSTK]. I got the orange one…HOWEVER, the price rang up wrong and got no RR. Cashier changed the price, and after totalling it up& paying, is when we found out the RR didn’t print. The manager said yes, it was included in the deal. She watched me as I went to double check it on the shelf. I thought I might have read it wrong. She ended up giving me the meds, and my money back for it [tax included] in place of me getting a RR. I got it in the form of real cash! I like that. Don’t have to worry about forgetting to spend them. She said that I didn’t originally get the RR ’cause I paid for some of my order with RRs …that’s why it didn’t print. She was nice about it and gave me the cash. I have never had this problem of not printing before, when using RR to help with a purchase. Equal items to RR, too. No coupons. Should have been fine. Got the 2- $3.00 RR from a candle/glade deal last week. Not sure how I got the $4 one. In the end my OOP today was $2.55 [for 3 items], but also getting 6.99 + 10% on wags GC, ’cause I got the face wash from wags catalog.
Hey…they even took one of my expired RR!

This week, 10/20/08, you mention unadvertised catalina print out at walgreens, but you are always telling us about things to buy at Jewel that will generate catalina coupons. A good example is the glade that has been going on for some time now. I’ve never seen anything about that (except on your site.) How do you know about these things?
I just bought 10 Healthy Choice dinners (a two-dale sale at Jewel for $1.88 each!) I also used two of the buy 5 get one free coupons! I got a catalina coupon for $5 off my next shopping trip. I didn’t see anything in the sales paper, in the Jewel Spot Light, or on the shelf that indicated I would get anything. Of course, I don’t even know the quantity needed to generate the coupon.
So, why do you know these things or is it a secret?

Thank you SO MUCH for the great deals! The St Ives at Walgreens looked so good that I had to go out and try it tonight. I used the BOGO coupon to purchase 2 St Ives Elements Olive Scrubs, along with 2 Perts (and manufacturer Pert coupons for $1, $2, and the IVC $2.50 Pert coupon). I paid with a $3 RR from the Dove deal last week and a gift card, and got only a $2 RR tonight. What happened? I have another BOGO coupon I’d like to try to use on another transaction if I can identify what went wrong.

They are on sale for $5.99 each – use the $5 off coupon (I think it was last weeks insert – I had 2) – I bought 2 for $.99 each + get a $3 register reward…so you make $1 :)
radchik77 says
FYI – the register reward doesn’t print up in the Crystal Lake Walgreens…they won’t give you cash, but they’ll give you a slip to mail in with your reciept to get your refund.

With this, or any unadvertised deal, how do you argue for your catalina if it doesn’t print? I got a catalina for $3 which I’m guessing is for the 2 St. Ives products but don’t know for sure and won’t know if it rings at $5 until used. Is there a way to “argue” these with the manager if needed?
chrisg says
FYI… the Catalina for $2.00 did not print. There were no signs listed by the product & I got them for free so no biggie! I did get a $2.00 Kraft catalina for purchasing 3 Jell-O @ $.64 each. I printed from mealbox a $1.50 coupon for two. I paid $.42 for 3 jell-o’s & got back $2.00. The promo was not listed by the shelf. There was an endcap by the dairy which listed the products (dressing, deluxe mac&cheese, jello).

I just bought the St. Ives at Walgreens but they only had 1 left, so I thought I would check out anyway and see what happened. (I used one of my $2 off coupons, I didn’t have the BOGO anyway). My total was $3 and some change and I received a $5 catalina! Apparently, it works on just one. I stopped at a different Walgreen’s on my way home and bought just one again and another $5 catalina printed out!

The Pert and the Alka Seltzer worked for me here in Indiana – the St Ives did not so I simply returned them.

I just went to my Jewel in Elgin, and scanned 6 boxes of the microwave popcorn, and had my coupons, and it didn’t produce a catalina. I’m wondering what I may have done wrong.

Did the deal again today. Twice, actually. The manager there [and cashiers] are fullly aware of this deal and the fact the cherry & orange SHOULD BE included in the deal. They were more than willing to give me the deal. The manager ended up doing the first one purchase, by the pharm., he ended up first correcting to the sale price, then he “keying it out”, making it cost $0…popped it in the bag and told me to have an nice day. I paid nothing, not even tax. Later, after “wasting time”, and picking up a couple of other stuff…I went to the front register. The cashier rang me up, we both realized the price was not right, and voided the order. She said she need the manager to do it, so he could over-ride the register, and the mistake it’s doing. Wasn’t sure I was going to get it, since I just did it with the same manager. This time, he corrected the price, I paid, and he wrote out a slip worth $5.00 RR. No exp. date, and marked it met all requirements. He signed it and told me, If i have problems using it, let him know. He did re-read the ad, to make sure it didn’t say something like “limit one per day”, etc. He did it tho. I’m planning on using it only at that store, just to make sure I don’t have problems. The shelf DOES SAY cherry, orange and reg. are in this deal. Just make sure you first check the store shelf at the Wags you go to. Make sure they correct the price too. Woodstock Wags was wonderful.

Wow…thank you! I’m heading to Jewel in the AM to stock up on 6!
I’ve saved a ton of money in just my first week since Sugar Grove. People are starting to worry about me (ie A-D-D-I-C-T-E-D). But I am having a blast!
Thanks again…-Mike (aka MO)

Jill,
Did you try the Benefiber deal? I don’t see where the 16 stick box priced at 7.99 is included in the RR promo. If you have done it, that is excellent.

I was at the Target in Lemont today and the cashier flat out refused to accept my coupons for Johnson’s Buddies soap! I had four potentially free soaps in hand, but when she said no I said I didn’t want the soap. She said she couldn’t accept the coupon because it was 3 cents over the value of the soap. I paid for the rest of my order and spoke to another team member on my way to the door and asked him about the store’s policy. He proceeds to lecture me about coupon fraud and how much it costs the store each year…by the time he was done talking and said that he could try and get me the soap I said forget it. It wasn’t worth the hassle. Funny thing is my husband had no problem buying this soap last week at a different Target. I’m going to contact Target online – is there any more I can do?

Has anyone actually seen the Herbal Essence with the green label for the free haircut or manicure? I went to 6 or 7 different stores and I didn’t see any in the Woodridge/Bolingbrook/Downers Grove area.
