Deals of the Week for October 28, 2008

Brr! It’s getting cold outside… but I’ve got another week of HOT deals for you!

First, a warm-you-up kind of deal… how about some better-than-free Progresso Soup? Progresso Soup is on sale at Jewel for $1.00 through 10/28, but if you print 2 coupons for $1.10 off one can of Progresso, you will get 2 cans for free, with .20 overage too! That’s right, Jewel will essentially pay YOU 20 cents to take home free soup! Remember to add other items to your order to “eat up” the overage, as no store will give you free soup AND cash…

And if you really like Progresso, you can pick up even more cheap… print two of each of these… Print $1.00 off 2 and $2.00 off 4 – this will bring each can down to just 50 cents, and if you apply your overage from the first cans toward these, they’ll be even cheaper. Can’t get enough soup? The 9/7 and 10/5 GM inserts have even MORE Progresso coupons that will give you a quarter off each can.

Still at Jewel, Ronzoni pasta is on sale for $2.29, buy one, get one free. Remember, one of the best couponer tricks is to use two coupons on a B1G1F sale, because you’re buying TWO (you’re paying tax on both.) So, 8/24 SS and 10/5 SS both have $1.00 off coupons. Use them together, and you’ll pick up 2 boxes of pasta for less than .15 per box! The last time Ronzoni was on sale at Jewel, it was $1 – so if you used your coupons up then, no worries! But, we have new readers here each week, and 15 cents is a steal for pasta if you’re just getting in the game :) Thanks to blog reader tpuisc for this deal!

Still at Jewel, Glade Scented Oil Plug-Ins continue to be your moneymaking friend! They’re $5.49 each (be careful as some with a built-in fan cost over $7 — you want the basic oil plug-in.) For each one you purchase, a Catalina will print for $4.00 off your next order. Use the B1G1F Glade Scented Oil Plug-Ins coupon from 9/28 SS and pick two up for $5.49… and get $8.00 back in Catalinas good on your next order! That’s a $2.51 profit!

Note that this same Catalina deal is also running at Dominick’s, Meijer and Kmart, albeit unadvertised. If you try it there and don’t get what you want, as with many Catalina deals, there’s not much you can do other than return your items for a refund. But if you like taking chances and can’t find them at Jewel, one of those stores should do the trick as well.

Over at Meijer, Smuckers Uncrustables are on sale for half price — which is $1.45 each. Meijer Mealbox has coupons for $1.00 off 2, so you’ll pay just 95 cents each for a box of sandwiches! These frozen, premade crustless sandwiches come in flavors like Grape PB&J, Strawberry PB&J, Grilled Cheese, PB & Honey on Wheat, and Peanut Butter. This just about as cheap as buying the bread and making sandwiches yourself — but easier!

Because Chicago-area grocery stores do not double coupons, Kmart has been attracting a lot of attention over the past month with their Double Coupon events. Kmart doubles all coupons up to $2.00 in value (making them worth $4.00!) This is a super sweet deal and way to get things FREE. They do not accept internet coupons though for these deals and do not give overage, but here are some coupon match-ups that will help you get the most out of double-couponing this week at Kmart:

Gillette men’s shampoo
On sale for $3.50 a bottle – use the $2/1 coupon from 9/28 PG to make this FREE! (Note: with double coupons, you will not get overage.)

Dove shampoo
On sale for $3.99 a bottle – use the $2.00 off from 8/17 RP – doubling the coupon makes this FREE!

Altoids mints
On sale for $1.69. Many have peelie coupons stuck to the lid for $1.00 off — doubling that coupon makes these FREE!

Tic Tac Chill
On sale for $1.49 – use the $1 coupon from 10/19 RP doubled to make these free!

Johnson & Johnson First Aid tape
On sale for $1.79 – use the $1 coupon from 8/10 SS doubled to make this free!

Sure deodorant
On sale for $2.29. Use the 8/3 SS $1.00 coupon, doubled to $2.00, to get this for 29 cents!

Green Giant Steamers (May only be at Super-Kmart locations)
On sale for $1.99 – use 9/7 and 10/5 $1.00 off, doubled to $2.00, so FREE!
