If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Wow! Thanks for posting so early again! You are spoiling us. For the Target deal on the Gillette Fusion ProGlide, the Target coupon says “$5 off with the purchase of One Gillette Fusion ProGlide Stlyer razor or Two men’s Gillette shave items.” So, if I’m reading this right, it should be free after the gift card. Am I correct? Still not quite awake, HaHa.

CVS also has some Regenerist products on sale for $22.99 – buy 2 get $12 ECB (if you can’t find products you want at the $20.99 price). So that gets you closer to the $50 mark for the P&G rebate. If you do the Aussie/Herbal Essence B1G1 coupon you can get there easily. Also, look at your Magic Machine Q’s b/c I had a Q for $3 off Olay.
So here’s the deal I did
2 x $22.99 Regenerist products = $45.98
2 x Herbal Essences product = $5.98
total = $51.96
– 2 x $5 Regenerist Q’s
– B1G1 Herbal Essences Q
– $1 on 2 Herbal Essences Q
– $3 CVS Olay Q
-$12 ECB
-$15 P&G rebate
= $7.97
IMPOSSIBLE! Thanks Jill – this was a FUN deal to do today!

It’s on sale bogo. Walgreens.com has it priced at $5.79. Using the $1 off coupon, you would pay $4.79 for 2 or about $2.40 each. Right?

I have about 5 Lil critters and 7 Vitafusion coupon that I am not going to use. Anybody wants it email me at couponmany@yahoo.com I can mail it or I can drop coupons at Bartlett Jewel which is really close to my house.

To go with the great deal on shrimp, there is an Mperks coupon for the tilapia on sale for $3.50. After the $1 Mperks coupon, you only pay $2.50! FYI the lowest sale price for this at Meijer is $3, but the $3.50 seems to be the more common sale price. There’s also an awesome deal on Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioners. The smaller shampoo and conditioners are on sale for $2.50 each and there is an instant savings deal of buy 3 Garnier Fructis products save $3. Buy 3 shampoos/conditioners gets you to $7.50. After $3 instant savings and 3 $1 off coupons (think they came out in last weeks inserts, there are also printables and an Mperks) you are at $1.50 or $0.50 a bottle! I did both deals on Saturday at the Meijer in Bloomingdale without a problem.

Pretty sure it expired yesterday. Just bought 2 and did not get the 2.25.

Can you use the balance rewards to purchase a mail in rebate item at Walgreens? For example, the glucose sticks. Can I use my $5 balance rewards towards the purchase price and then send in the mail in rebate for a full refund of the $5.99?
rswehrle says
I purchased Lady Speed Stick at Walgreens today, because they were having a bogo free deal, which is in their ad. The price at my store was $3.79 each. I was able to use a $1.00 coupons on each item, thus making them $.89 each. Not a bad deal. It beats Vons (Dominick’s) deal.
nice2save says
I went to Walgreens today for the Halloween candy. They do not have a store coupon for $0.50, it is for a $0.50 Register Reward. So I think it is limited to 1 per transaction. Not such a good deal :(
Outlander says
At Meijer there is also store cat on Yoplait- buy 15, get $1.25 back.
At Jewel, that International Delight deal gets way better with Savings Star Q $15/$5.
For Dominicks- someone posted on MUM that Deal Match price on Downy works for their sale Buy 2, get $3 off each. Use 2 $1/1 Qs.
taigrrrl says
Can you buy the Gillette Razor and refill, then use the Q from Target for 2/$5 and from $4 10/7 RP AND the $5 off 10/30 PG at the same time? Thank you!
Outlander says
Jill, you forgot that free Cover girl Q from 10/28 to go with purchase of Regenerist at CVS. I’m going today!

I’m curious if anyone tried to purchase any Revlon tools and got $7 ECB? At my store the sign for the $7 ECB was only by the makeup. There was no sign by the tools so I just purchased 2 nail polishes for $5.79 each(cheapest price I could find) and used 2 coupons I found and $5 ECB. Not a great deal, but I really like the polishes.
