Another week of super deals!
First, at Jewel… how about the Goldfish cracker deal of the year? If you have kids (or are just a big kid) you know how yummy those little Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers are.
Well, Jewel is running two sales simultaneously on Goldfish (the reason I always recommend shopping Jewel Sundays-Wednesdays, so you can take advantage of the sales overlapping!) Goldfish crackers are on sale for $2.19 a bag, buy one, get one free. They are ALSO on sale for buy two, get two free.
Now, I could spend a long time explaining why this works, but you can just trust me that it does… when you buy 8 bags of Goldfish, between the two discounts, you’ll only be paying for 2 of them. That’s just $4.38 for all 8 bags, or about 54 cents a bag. Your receipt will first show 4 bags paid for and 4 bags free… and at the very bottom, it will take off another $4.38 for the B2G2F sale. Goldfish rarely pop up this cheap, and if your children are like mine, they can rip through a bag of these in one afternoon… so stock up! And you don’t have to buy 8. You can buy 4 (you’ll get 4 for the price of 1) or 16 (getting those for the price of 4) or like me… 32 for the price of 8 — hey, my kids LOVE these… and they don’t outdate until February!
Jewel’s also got a pretty good cereal deal going this week! Buy 5 boxes of selected General Mills cereals for $2 each, and you’ll get a Catalina for a free gallon of Dean’s milk ($4.50 value.) The best way to work this deal is with Cheerios:
$1.00 off Cheerios
$1.00 off Cheerios
$1.00 off Cheerios
$1.00 off Cheerios
$1.00 off Cheerios
$1.00 off Cheerios
$1.00 off Cheerios
(The above coupons should work for all Cheerios. If they don’t, you may want to print/bring the following too…)
75 cents off Apple Cinnamon Cheerios
10/5 SS has a $1.00 off 3 coupon for General Mills cereals too.
Depending on which coupons you use, you could be paying around $5 for 5 boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk! And, after you do this deal, a $1.50 off 3 General Mills Catalina should print too.
Still at Jewel, how about some shampoo for 13 cents a bottle? Suave shampoo is on sale for 88 cents a bottle, and there’s a $1.50 off 2 coupon in the 9/21 RP insert. Buy 2 bottles with this coupon and you’ll be paying just 13 cents a bottle! (And hey, if you don’t like Suave for yourself… here’s a tip. I use it to wash my dog! He smells particularly good after a bath with the Strawberry variety :)
Also at Jewel, for those looking for another good diaper deal, Baby Basics diapers may be super cheap at your Jewel location. It looks like many Jewels are doing away with the large cardboard “case” size of diapers. This big box holds 120 diapers (size 4 – count varies by size) and is usually $22.98. Even when on sale, these cases usually only drop around $17.99. Well, they’re on clearance for $11.49 a box – that’s half price. Sweeten the deal even more by printing a $1.00 off coupon and picking up over 100 diapers for $10.49. (You can print 2 coupons if you hit the Back button too.)
This works out to about 8 cents per diaper. Most diapers’ non-sale price is about 25 cents per diaper. You’ll be getting 4 diapers for the price of one. And these diapers are good quality too, and just as cute as the name brands with blue and purple graphics of balloons, boats, sunshines and cars on them. My kids wore these a lot before I hit the diaper deal of the year earlier this summer… so I can vouch for their quality. If your store does not have them marked on clearance, try checking the price at the price scanner to see. Our store (Huntley) had some on an endcap with the sale price, but the ones on the shelf were marked regular price — yet all were ringing up $11.49. If you come up empty, hang onto those coupons and check in the weeks ahead… as the price should be dropping.
The great Culinary Circle rising crust pizza deal continues this week!
Culinary Circle rising crust frozen pizzas are on sale again, buy one get one free, $7.89. Use 2 $1.00 off coupons (a great couponers’ trick — since you’re buying and paying tax on 2, you can use 2 coupons on a B1G1F sale — even on the free item!) and pay just $5.89 for two gourmet frozen pizzas. That’s less than $3.00 a pizza – a fantastic price for rising crust! These are really good pizzas, especially for the price.
After the crazy deals at Walgreens last week, things have calmed down a bit on the sale front at Wags. So let’s head over to CVS for some freebies!
Want some free Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste?. When you buy it, you’ll get $2.00 back in Extra Care Bucks. Add a coupon for $1.00 off from the 9/28 SS insert, or from Colgate’s website, and you’ll be paying $2.00 per tube… and getting $2.00 back! You’ll need your free CVS Extra Care card to do this deal… and you can do it twice, for 2 free tubes!
While at CVS, also pick up 5 free bars of soap! CVS is selling their store brand of soaps for 99 cents apiece, and you’ll get $1.00 back in ECBs for each bar you buy. You can buy 5 bars total and get $5.00 back in ECBs! Free is good! The soaps you want are in a blue wrapper (“CVS Beauty Bar”) or a gold wrapper that has the CVS logo on it & looks similar to Dial soap.

I’ve downloaded the coupon printer and successfully printed coupons in the past, but lately I haven’t been able to print. For example, I just clicked on several of the Cheerios links. For each one the page to print came up. I clicked print coupon. The next page says “please wait, ” but nothing ever happens. I know as soon as I see the please wait that it won’t be printing… Anyway, has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi everyone,
Just thought I’d pass this along in case anyone else wants to take advantage of it. Jewel has Yoplait on sale for 40 cents each right now…mine (Cary) is actually selling it for 30 cents each…one of those special fliers attached to the ad sometimes. The ad says limit 10…bummer since their coupons are alays save “X” off 6. Anyway, I went to the store and saw a sign…buy 20, get two dollars off a future Yoplait purchase. I had three coupons, so I thought, “Why not?” I bought 20. They ALL rang up at the 30 cent price. I used $1.30 worth of coupons. The coupons printed out, but it’s actually for 2 free yogurts worth up to $2.00. Bummer, but 22 yogurts for $4.70 is still pretty good in my book. For those of you close by, I believe the Jewel in Crystal Lake on Rte 14 is also selling Yoplait for 30 cents. Happy shopping!

Went armed with my coupons today to the Jewel in Elgin, and the diapers were on sale for $19.99, and no clearance items could be found! I’m wondering if the clearance items are specific to each Jewel. Any insight?
Our kids ministry is going to be so excited about the goldfish crackers! Thanks for the heads up!

The Goldfish deal worked like a charm. I finally figured out how it works as well. (not that it matters as long as it does) We are set for a good while. Thanks for all that you do, you are truly an inspiration.

Jill, I was able to find the B2G2 for the goldfish in my circular, however, I didn’t see the B1G1 in the 3day – did you know about this from going to the store or was the B1G1 also in a circular (that I missed). I went earlier and bought 8 and will be getting more tomorrow. Thanks for your keen set of eyes!!!!

Ran out the door to Jewel as soon as I read the shopping deals for today. No time tomorrow! I bought 24 bags of goldfish in 1 transaction for $13.14! My kids will have these gone before the expiration date for sure. I even bought myself some pretzel ones for my desk at work for that mid-day slump. Better than candy, and cheaper! I saved $39.42 thanks to you Jill.

I found that Firefox works for smartsource.com coupons and IE works for the rest. I also get that please wait and then nothing when I try with Firefox.
Thanks for the Goldfish tip. My 3 year old grandson will LOVE you once he sees his new stockpile. To think he used to be happy with one bag :-)

I’m new to your website. Somebody just told me about it last week and I’m already so excited. I used to fancy myself as very good at finding super deals. Then I went to your website. YOU ROCK!!!
I just got back from Jewel with my 8 bags of goldfish crackers for the price of 2. Thank you, thank you. Also if you happen to have hung onto the coupon from last year for Keri lotion for $5 off, great. Jewel has them on sale for $5.99. I just got three bottles for $.99 each. Jewel and Dominicks will always accept expired coupons. I’ve used some as old as 8 years. I’ve never been turned away. The only problem with keeping all your coupons is that you start to accumulate quite a large volume.
Thanks again!

Hi, Jill:
Thank you for this wonderful website!
My question is about the web-freebies. Where do you go to find out about those deals?
Also, to get the discount at the CVS store do I have to use a store card?
Thanks !

Hi Jill,
This is my first week and I had a great time getting all those Goldfish! I have a question about the cereal deal at Jewel. My Jewel (in Naperville) doesn’t have Cheerios listed in the 5/10 deal. Does this usually vary by store or is there a chance the Cheerios are included in the deal, just not advertised? Thanks.

I tried to buy 8 goldfish in two transactions (8 in each). The first one worked, but the 2nd one didn’t take off the full amount. The cashier said it was one offer per Preferred Card.

Hi Jill
Thank you for the good deals I tried it for the first time. On the gold fish the deal worked 2 out of three times. The cereal deal I received the free milk catalina but not the 1.50 general mills catalina. Are the jewel stores that different? I hate the thought of going back to return things when I don’t get the deals. Any suggestions on why this happens?

Crest toothpaste is 10/$10 this week and there were some Crest coupons (I think from last weeks paper) for $1 off 1 tube & $1 off 2 tubes. So you could get 1 for free & 2 for $.50 each this week. $1 for 3 toothpastes is a pretty great deal.

After getting the Gold Fish deal Tuesday, I went home & found another site where I printed 2 coupons for Peppride Farms $1.50 off 4 cookies or crackers. So I went back yesterday to see if I could use them with this deal. They accepted the coupons!! I paid $1.46 for 8 bags of gold fish!!!
