Hello, Super-Couponers… it’s Deal Day! A big welcome to everyone from my Northbrook and Woodstock classes last week. And, to my new readers, if you’re interested in learning to save on almost everything you buy at the grocery store, why not attend a Super-Couponing workshop? Many are FREE, and in one hour you’ll learn how to cut your grocery bill 50-70%! This week’s classes are taking place in Lisle, Lyons, Geneva, and Bloomington/Normal. Learn more!
This week’s newspaper contained two inserts: SmartSource (SS) and RedPlum (RP.) The Tribune’s Parade magazine also has a coupon inside for $2-off-2 Glade sprays; there’s a single-sheet insert of $5 manufacturer coupons for many movies and television shows on DVD; and the Tribune (newspaper itself) has a $15-off-$30 Kmart apparel purchase coupon on page 6, if you’re interested. (Note that the Kmart clothing coupon does not include clearance-priced clothing or any footwear… I got excited for a moment until I read the restrictions. The coupon IS good on sale-priced clothing though.)
Now… ready for your Deals of the Week? You may enjoy .45 Bumble Bee Tuna pouches, .99 Glucerna cereal, .25-.29 Campbell’s soup, .25 Suave lotion, a great instant-savings deal on General Mills products, FREE dozen of Lucerne eggs, .62 Ball Park Franks, $2.32 Hefty trash bags, FREE Scrubbing Bubbles, .25 Mr. Clean, FREE Renuzit Crystals, FREE Green Giant frozen vegetables, .25 Barilla pasta, FREE Bestlife Buttery Spread, FREE Friskies cat treats, .74 Old Orchard 100% juices, .50 Bar S Bologna, FREE Maybelline lip gloss, FREE Gain dish detergent, FREE ThermaCare Heat Wraps, .24 Right Guard deodorant, .50 Edge shave gel, and great per-pound prices for steak and fish fillets …so let’s get started!

Deals continuing from previous weeks:
Jewel-Osco has launched a Facebook page. If you have questions directly for corporate, you can ask them there (and they answer promptly!) They’ve also got the free cookware promo under way, so save your stickers from qualifying receipts to earn free pots and pans.
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list yet? Jewel has been making coupons available for many different products over the past few months, and they’re usually store coupons that you can stack manufacturer coupons with too. I’d recommend getting on their list if you shop there.
Coupon booklets currently found at Jewel
Secrets of our Flavor – $7 worth of Coca-Cola, Nabisco and Kraft coupons – here’s what’s inside
Kids Cooking Kosher – children’s calendar with coupons for Jewish foods and products – here’s what’s inside
Fall Into Savings coupon book – $18 worth of manufacturer coupons – here’s what’s inside
Tastes of a Winning Season – $5 worth of Kraft coupons – here’s what’s inside
Jewel meat deals:
- Perdue fresh split chicken breasts are $1.99/lb.
Jewel produce deals:
- Red or Golden Delicious apples are .79/lb.
- Peaches, nectarines and plums are .88/lb.
- Bartlett pears are .99/lb.
- Cortland or McIntosh Apples are $1.29/lb.
- Gala or Braeburn apples are $1.49/lb. ($1.99/lb. for organic)
- 3lb. bags of yellow onions are .99
- 5lb. bags of Farm Stand Russet Potatoes are $1.99
(Anytime meat is under $1.99 a pound (no matter what it is — beef, pork, poultry) it’s a buy in my book, because $1.99 is a cycle low and a good benchmark for meat prices — ditto for most produce. Seafood, by its nature, is more expensive per pound, but a good “buy” benchmark is $4 per pound or less for fish or shrimp.)
Let’s go to Dominick’s, where BIG coupon policy changes have taken place. Everyone who shops at Doms needs to be aware of the following changes to coupon acceptance:
You can no longer stack ecoupons with manufacturer coupons. This is only the case in Safeway-owned stores in Hawaii and Illinois. If you try to stack an ecoupon with a manufacturer coupon on the same item, the manufacturer coupon beeps and is not accepted by the register.
Catalinas for money off your next order with another store’s logo on them are no longer accepted. A Jewel Catalina for $1 off Cascade will be accepted at Dominick’s, but a Walgreens Register Reward for $10 off your next shopping trip will NOT be.
Note to my Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s currently accepts expired coupons up to one year past the expiration date, so my coupon matchups for Dominick’s deals will include expired coupons. If an expired coupon matchup is provided, it will be noted with (exp) after the date. Also, in Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the new “Just For U” electronic discounts that you can load to your Dominick’s Fresh Values card, you may want to. For registering your card, you’ll receive an ecoupon for a FREE 12-ct. Lucerne large eggs! You’ll also activate a set of electronic discounts that are tied to your card for the next 90 days. Each person’s discounts are different, and they’re based on past purchases made with your Fresh Values card at Dominick’s. Learn more here!

Chips Ahoy cookies are on sale for $2. Use the $1 coupon from July All You and pay $1!

What does “minimum $10 (or $20) purchase required” mean? To use store coupons that include a minimum purchase requirement, you must spend a minimum dollar amount on that shopping trip. You will reach the minimum purchase amount based upon total purchases after your Club Card discount is applied. For example, the regular retail price of a box of Cheerios (after Club Card discounts) will count toward the minimum purchase required in order to use the Cheerios coupon.
Heading over to Meijer, where things are ROCKING this week (!), here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:

(Incidentally, this is the only major brand of chocolate syrup that doesn’t contain high fructose corn syrup, if you’re avoiding that ingredient. We like Trader Joe’s organic chocolate syrup for that reason as well… but this is a great price for an HFCS-free national brand.)

Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers, under the convoluted reasoning that because the stores are newer, people will shop there -without- as many products being on sale. O-kay.

If you haven’t yet used your $1 off Gain Dish Detergent coupon from the 8/29 PG, clip & carry it this week! There’s a coupon in this week’s Walgreens ad that makes the detergent just .89 a bottle! Stack that with the $1 manufacturer coupon, and it’s FREE! (If you’re trying for coupon overage here, hand the cashier the Walgreens store coupon LAST.)
Quaker Quick One-Minute Oats are on sale for $1.50 a box. Use the $1 coupon from 9/12 RP and pay just .50!
ThermaCare Heat Wraps are on sale for $2.49. When you buy one, you’ll get $1.50 back in Register Rewards! Use this $1 coupon, pay $1.49 and get $1.50 back! FREE!

I am a lip balm junkie, and Carmex has been my poison of choice for years. So when I saw that Carmex is now making a lotion and skin cream, I was intrigued. (Is it going to make your skin tingle with that waxy/sweet/menthol feeling too?!) Anyway, Carmex Healing Lotion or Skin Cream is on a Register Rewards deal this week. It’s on sale for $4.99 with $4 back in Register Rewards. After RR, it’s yours for .99!
No coupons for this deal that I’m aware of… and here’s likely the reason why. Did you know that Carmex is one of the few products in history that hasn’t had to advertise itself? From 1937 to 2006, there was never a single commercial or ad from Carmex anywhere in existence. In 2006, the company experimented with some bus posters, but aside from that… those cute little white tubs with the yellow lid just sell themselves, apparently. :) More Carmex history if you like that sort of thing.
Walgreens 100% apple juice is on sale for $1.50 a 64-ounce bottle – good price.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* (All You magazine is not a requirement for using the site, but if you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s a cheap ($2.49 an issue) magazine that is absolutely filled with coupons each month — typically $50-$100 worth per issue! You can subscribe to All You online and save about $10/year off the cover price. And depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

Slow week…actually glad to have it…got alot to do around the house =)

I clipped the $1/2 coupon and then realized it’s for the pints. Sale is on single-serve? There’s $1/4 single-serve in the 9/19 RP too, making them $0.75 each.

I went to meijer to get the friskies cat treats and they were not on sale. I spoke to CS and the lady said that was last week that they were $1.00. I was bummed!

The Maxwell House coffee coupon I have from Jewel Taste of a Winning Season bk is for $1 off 31oz or more size can, unfortunately I think the one on sale at Dominicks is the small can, so this coupon won’t work.
RcknRbn77 says
Okay, so I’m still VERY new here (haven’t actually taken Jill’s class…Thursday that will change though, SO SO SO excited!!!!)…When you shop at Meijer’s or Walgreens or CVS, do you use a special store card to get “rewards”? I haven’t shopped there before and want to make sure I have all that I need to get my deals! I have a Jewels preferred card and a Dominick’s Fresh Values card, but what else do I need to sign up for?

Where can I get the UPC list for the Suave products? Thanks.

The JJ and Kelloggs deal at Meijer does stack- I bought 4 cereals (Kelloggs Fiber which had $1.50/2 peelies on the box) and 4 juicy juice- used 2 1/2 JJ, the 2/4 mealbox and 2 1.50/2 cereal peelies and got $6 off instantly.

I think the Meijer mealbox coupon for the Progesso soup has hit it’s limit?

Could someone verify, please, if that Dominick’s cleaning catalina rolls? (Spend $15 get $5)
I thought, I read somewhere, that it doesn’t. But maybe someone here has a different experience?

For the Right Guard at CVS, there is a printable coupon for $3 off 2 at couponbug.com. I recently learned of this website, that has a lot of the same coupons as coupons.com.

Jill
thanks for the tip about the HFCS-free chocolate syrup. I think that you read my mind–when I first saw the listing for the syrup, I didn’t even really pay attention to it, thinking it probably has HFCS, but then read your little note after. I love that you are incorporating these types of tips into your site. Also, I didn’t know about the Trader Joe’s brand either–so will have to try that for sure.

I have a question about the walgreens ad coupon. It says on the walgreens store coupon limit 3, so does that mean that coupon applies to all 3? I am looking to buy gain dish detergent and just need to know how many store coupons i need. i need to have this right because the walgreens people are so mean to me :( thanks!

There is a $1/2 Peter Pan in the in-store version of August All You. It is in the middle – there is a ConAgra cardboard pull-out section of coupons and the rebate form for the spend $10 get $25 coupon book. I used three of them yesterday.
Jewel in West Dundee only had 1 variety of the Peter Pan. The regular creamy version. On an end cap in the front of the store, none in the peanut butter aisle – and no shelf space for it either which I thought was strange. I was disappointed that they didn’t have the whipped but I’ll get over it for .49 a jar! :)

The suave kids haircare- .50 off – printable above has expired.

I have been on the HUGEST baking kick lately, so I’m definitely excited about this sale!!
Does anyone know how long their shelf life is (BEFORE you open it)? I am pretty sure I’ve read that you can freeze or at least refrigerate this stuff, but our freezer/fridge isn’t very big so I don’t want to ‘waste’ room on these.
I just don’t want to purchase a bunch and then have it go bad.
thanks!!
bonniemcneil says
There is also a $1/4 Barilla pasta or sauce coupon in the meijer mealbox, so that would make the pasta even cheaper. I used it yesterday and wasn’t able to find any manufacturer coupons, but I’ll go back today and get some more pasta, now that I know where the man. coupons are. Thanks Jill!!
shelby79 says
Can the $2-off-3 Mr. Clean coupon work for this deal instead of the $1-off-2 bringing it down to $.50 after cat?
Buy 6 bottles of Mr. Clean – $2.50 each ($15)
Use three B1G1F coupons on three of your bottles and one $1-off-2 coupon for two of the other three “paid” bottles
Pay $6.50 and get $5 back! 6 Mr. Cleans for $1.50 is .25 each.
jenjax says
When I pulled my 7/11 RP, I discovered the Bestlife Buttery Spread Q expired 9/19. At least we still have the one from 8/29 RP and the printable to work with!
Also, in the 8/29 SS, the Barilla Pasta Qs that I found were for $.55/1 rather than $1/2. Any thoughts as to why? This was a Trib insert. Of course, if I had multiple inserts, this would have worked in my favor stacked with that Mealbox Q!
Thanks again for all that you do, Jill. Since I discovered your website and started couponing a year ago, a whole new world has been opened to me. Spending $50 at the grocery store in a week was a very light week before. Now, it results in an overflowing pantry and freezer – a very heavy shopping day!
cogasawara says
I hope there’s not any rule about posting other websites but there is a great website, http://www.stilltasty.com, where you can type in the name of any product and they will tell you how long it is good for (open or unopened, refrigerated or not refrigerated). Check it out for the flour.

I tried to do this deal as listed above: bought 3, tried to use 1 BOGO and 2 $3 q’s but system beeped and would not let me use all 3 q’s. Anyone have success with this?
Jugee1042 says
The coupon in the winning season coupon book is not for the same size coffee that is in the ad. Otherwise that would have been a great price for coffee.
LuluD318 says
I was at Meijer in Plainfield and when I scanned my first Barilla, a $2 off of 3 Piccolini catalina came out. I finished my purchase, went back and picked out 3 more and it happened again. I didn’t have the energy to go back again but $1 for 3 pastas is great!
dhc says
My palatine store had them priced at 2 for $5 not 2 for $4. Wondering if they are different prices depending on the store location.

Can anyone tell me where to find the Suave Naturals body lotion and the quaker quakes..? I couldnt find any but i also didnt see empty rows for them either.. Help..
smileyfish76 says
Found this statement on the bottom of the 500 labels for education bonus points ad on the back of the Jewel ad….
*minimum purchase requirement calculated after manufacturer discounts.
I believe it was also in the Meijers ad but seems to be their way of thinking for $XX get X deals too, not the buy 5 get x deals…
Does that mean that after all coupons, you must have $15 in purchases so in the end, you are buying way more just to get to a final price of $15?
Thanks for any insights!
linzer001 says
Hello
So I looked at your UPC list to see which ones were included in the Suave double dip and I believe I only saw ONE Suave Naturals lotion listed period, is that right? It was the lavendar vanilla scent. I just wanted to check before I tried to print off more coupons and that was the only scent and they end up selling out. Thanks so much for all you do, you’ll never now how much you help people!!!

got 7 set and refresh today at Dominicks (tried to do 6 because 1 tag said 2/$5, little boogers scanned $2.49…grrrr, could of tried to throw in something cheap but figured with the coupons I had it was better to go with 7)
7x $2.49 = $17.43
used 7-$1.50/1 from house party ( I got ALOT of coupons for hosting that party and I gave ALOT away)
=$6.93 and got back the $5 cat=$1.93 or $0.28 each

I went to print this coupon twice from the link. Once printed, another screen shows a link to get another of the same coupon – so I clicked on it. You have to submit your email address, then it takes you right to the coupon printer for the coupon. I printed another two times – for a total of FOUR $1 off one can coupons. Woohoo!

FYI (in case some didn’t figure this out on their own) – there are TWO Michelina’s coupons available through the link Jill provided. You click on both varieties (Traditional Recipe and Lean Gourmet) Enjoy!

Yey!! Finally got my Suave however I didn’t read the other posts until after I bought the Lav/van that you could buy the other ones too.. I’m still happy tho! Then it was off to target where i got my Heathly choice and finally my last stop CVS. They had the aqua mist in and the Alive vitamins so i was able to use my rainchecks and coupons and spent OOP .79 and got back $15 in ECB bucks! A big thanks again to Jill for everything she does! I took a huge cut in salary when i got my new job and In the process of getting divorced so the tools she has provided keep money in my pocket as well as a boat load of food and products in my house for my son and I!! Ps i really really can’t wait til the freezer deal comes along! No more room in mine again! :)

The deal is past, but just had to brag about my REALLY cheap Sobe. Dominicks had the $1 Sobe’s last week, and I had printed off several B1G1 free from the internet. When the cashier scanned the coupon 1.89 was deducted, making (before tax) cost per Sobe 5.5 cents. I was expecting 50 cent Sobe’s so I went back the next day and bought some more.
korgan00 says
Jill talks about the coupon books that are available at Jewel. I went to the customer service desk and they had no idea what I was talking about. Though, I did get a rain check for the B1G1 ground turkey :) Anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!!

must have been Saturday. The Jewels by me have it at $4.99 which I’m sure will go on sale again prior to 12/31/10.

Staples currently has the Super sticky Post-it notes on sale for $1 if you have the coupon from the insert, or happened to print out the pdf coupon a while back.

As pointed out in the ben & jerrys comment, similarly, the link to the Starbucks coupon (that I printed 6 of) is for pints only, not the single-serves.

The Right Guard that is at CVS…the Total Defense is part of that same deal so there is a coupon here:
https://print.coupons.com/couponweb/Offers.aspx?pid=14473&zid=wd29&nid=10&bid=alk092310091486bf6971a8710
if that doesnt work it is the same link that Jill has for the Edge shave gel. (coupons.com)
it is save $3 off 2! That makes the deal even sweeter (sorry Jill) thanks for all you do-you rock! I’ll never pay full price again!

I spoke with the MGR on duty tonight at my Jewel. I DID get a great deal on size 3 diapers on the 22nd. The”sale price”per the shelf tag said the $4.99 price was good until November 20, HOWEVER… took my sister back there with me today and the sale price was no longer there.
Apparently when the huggies stock rep reset at some stores, these large boxes were incorrectly included in what was meant to be a clearance of that sized box diapers (the repackaging deals we have seen a lot lately). I guess they fixed it in the computer soon after they realized this mistake.
It certainly was a sweet deal while it lasted though! (I paid more like $2.49 for the box of size threes – I had one lonely $2.50/1 IP left).
I just wanted to give everyone else who thought this deal would last until 11/20/10 a head’s up… anything meant to be a part of this clearance price would most likely be in a shopping cart marked with the shelf tag markdown stickers. I managed to get a 44 pack of pull-ups that way :o)
