Welcome to all the new Super-Couponers who attended my Woodridge class this past weekend… and to all the readers who return each week for the deals too!
Starting at Walgreens, here’s a deal to go with that free Colgate toothpaste you picked up last week – a FREE Reach toothbrush and Reach dental floss! Reach Ultra Clean toothbrushes and Reach Ultra Clean dental floss are on sale at Walgreens for $2.50 each. When you buy 2 of either, you’ll get a $5 Register Reward, making them FREE! (You can mix and match with this deal too and get 2 flosses, or 2 toothbrushes if you like.)
Over at CVS, how about some FREE men’s deodorant? Adidas anti -perspirant deodorant is on sale for $4.99. When you buy one, you’ll receive a $4.00 Extra Care Buck, making the deodorant just 99 cents. Add in a $1.00 off coupon from 9/7 RP or 7/27 RP, and your deodorant becomes FREE. You’ll need to use your free CVS Extra Care Card (savings card) in conjunction with this deal.
Wouldn’t you like some cheap Cheerios at Target? Target’s running a special on General Mills cereals. Four boxes are $11, and you’ll get a $5 Target gift card when you buy 4. So how’s the best way to work this deal?
Remember a few weeks ago, I posted a link to a Cheerios promotion in which they sent out coupons for one free box of Cheerios and 6 $1.00 off Cheerios coupons? There’s a reason that in our classes we say to hold on to “one free item” coupons versus running them right to the store to redeem them (which is almost everyone’s intention when they get a coupon for something for FREE!) The reason we say to hold on to them is to either 1) wait until the item goes on a B1G1F sale, and then you’ll get 2 for free with that coupon, or; 2) wait until you can use that coupon in conjunction with another promo, like this one!
So… if you’ve got those Cheerios coupons in hand, here’s how it can work for you:
4 boxes @ $2.75 each = $11.00
Minus $5 Target gift card = $6.00
Minus FREE box of Cheerios coupon = $3.25
Minus 3 $1 off Cheerios coupons = $0.25
You’ll be paying 25 cents for 4 boxes of Cheerios! At around 6 cents a box, that’s a steal!
If you don’t have these Cheerios coupons, you can still make this deal work for you. (It won’t be 6 cents a box, but it will still be cheaper than normal!)
The 8/17 SS insert has a 75 cents off Cheerios coupon. Here are some more links to $1.00 off Cheerios coupons too:
$1.00 off Cheerios
You can print 2 from each of these links! If you use 4 $1.00 printables, you’ll get 4 boxes of Cheerios for $2.00! Paying 50 cents a box is a great deal too! MMM Cheerios!
Still at Target, how about some cheap dishwasher detergent? Electrasol Finish dishwasher 20-ct. detergent tablets or gelpacks are $2.79 (many readers are reporting this size is only available at SuperTarget though.) Use the $2.25 coupon from the 9/7 insert and pick these up for just 54 cents! Thanks to forum member Mel79 for spotting this one.
At Jewel, how about a Powerade moneymaker? Powerade Zero is on sale for 79 cents a bottle. The 6/8 SS inserts have a 75-cents off coupon, and the 7/13 SS inserts have a $1.00 off coupon. Either way, 2 bottles of Powerade are now free with overage! But it gets better (doesn’t it always?)
There’s a Catalina deal running at Jewel on Powerade Zero. Buy Buy 6 bottles, and you’ll get a Catalina for $4 off your next order. So…
6 bottles @ 75 cents = $4.50
Minus 2 coupons shown above ($1.75) = $2.75
Jewel give you a $4 Catalina, and you’ve just made $1.25 and gotten 6 free bottles of Powerade!
If you don’t have the coupons listed above, it’s still a pretty sweet deal. Buy the 6 bottles of Powerade Zero and pay $4.50. You’re going to get a $4 Catalina back, so you’ll get 6 bottles for 50 cents, or about 8 cents a bottle. That’s cheap! This sale runs through Wednesday, 9/24!
Still at Jewel, how about some dog food for 99 cents? Kibbles and Bits dog food is on sale for $5.99, buy one, get one free. Go to www.kibblesnbits.com & print 2 coupons for $2.00 off Kibbles and Bits. Now, one of those great coupon tricks is using TWO coupons on a B1G1F sale… because you’re still paying tax on 2, you’re technically buying 2, even though one is free. So, $4.00 off $5.99 is $1.99 for 2 bags of dog food. That is a DEAL!
The 8/17 RP insert also has 2 Kibbles and Bits coupons in it as well – one for $2.00 off and one for $1.00 off. With these, you’ll be paying $2.99 for 2 more bags. The September issue of All You magazine also has a $2.00 off Kibbles and Bits coupon in it as well.
And also at Jewel, a deal for women (sorry guys, but I can’t imagine you’d be interested in these…) how about some free Kotex pantiliners? They’re on sale at Jewel this week through Wednesday for $1.00. Print two $1 off coupons here and get some for FREE! If you are a subscriber to All You magazine (a fabulous source of LOTS more coupons each month… remember those 5 great Kraft free coupons in the August issue?) then you will have 2 more $1.00 off coupons in the September issue to use with this deal. If you have August’s issue, there’s another one for $1.00 off too in there!
Still at Jewel, here are a couple deals that carry over from last week! Glade Plug-ins air fresheners are not only free, they’re moneymakers! Certain scents of Glade Plug-ins are on sale for $1.49. When you buy one, you’ll get a $2 Catalina coupon off your next order. So, it’s free, and they’re paying you to take it home! You can make this deal better with coupons, of course…
Here’s a coupon for Buy 1 Glade Plug-ins, get 1 Free – you can print 2, so you can get 4 for free just from this link alone.
The 8/24 SS insert also has a B1G1F coupon that will get you even more Plug-ins. So… the best part? Remember, when you get a free one, you’re still “buying” it — so you’ll get another $2 Catalina for the free one too! You will pay $1.49 to make $4 for every 2 you buy with a coupon, and moneymakers are my favorite kind of deal. The store is paying you to take the Plug-ins home, and your house will be smelling like roses… or a tropical island… or apple pie… after this deal. The Catalina offer and sale runs through 10/2.
Jewel is also running a Box Tops promo on Kimberly-Clark paper products (Box Tops are school fundraiser cut-outs on the tops of numerous products. Schools can turn box tops in and receive 10 cents for each.) When you buy $20 worth of participating products (here’s the Jewel $5/$20 ad scan) you will get a $5 Catalina off your next purchase — and a certificate for 40 box tops for your child’s school.
Now, if you’ve been doing these deals for a while with me, you know specifically which wording to look for on the flyer. It says “by purchasing $20 worth of Kimberly-Clark products.” It does NOT say “with your Preferred card,” so this deal works on the regular (shelf) prices of the items involved. So, when you’re looking at these products and adding up your $20 worth, use the regular shelf price, not the sale price.
This is one of those deals that could be good for you if you mix and match the things you need. And remember, the $20 price is BEFORE coupons too. Not all of the items in this deal are on sale — to maximize your savings, you will want to buy items that are on sale for less than their shelf price, while adding enough items to make the shelf price total $20 or more. You can do this deal one time per trip through the checkout lane.
This is kind of a complex deal, but it’s one you can work to your advantage too. Keep in mind that shelf prices can vary by store, so do NOT copy exactly what I did expecting it to work, as if your store’s prices are different, it will not work. Here’s what I did:
1 20-roll pack of Scott TP – shelf price: $15.49 – sale price $11.99
2 CleanTeam flushable wipes
(as “filler” items to get to $20) – shelf price $2.99 each
Total shelf price is $21.47, but sale price is $17.97
Minus coupons (75 cents off toilet paper, $3.00 off wipes)
New total: $14.22 – and I’ll get a $5 Catalina coupon back too – so…
I’m down to $9.22 for 20 double rolls of toilet paper and 2 tubs of wipes! Those are some cheap bathroom supplies. The wipes alone would have cost $5.98 without this deal!
Here are all the coupons currently in circulation that will work with this deal. Mix and match to your advantage, but again, items with a high shelf price and low sale price (toilet paper, diapers) will gain you the best profits for the deal:
8/24 SS: Huggies: 50 cents off wipes, $2.00 off Pull-Ups, $1.00 off diapers
9/14 SS: Scott: $1.00 off 4 paper towels, 75 cents off toilet paper
8/24 SS: Cottonelle: 50 cents off
8/3 SS: Kleenex: 50 cents off
8/10 SS: Poise: $1.00 off 2 and $1.50 off 2
8/10 and 9/7 SS: Depends $1.00, $1.50, and $3.00 off
9/7 SS: Kotex: $1.00 off
7/20 SS: CleanTeam: $3.00 off 2 (This coupon is now expired – it was current during last week’s deal.)
If you received the flyer shown in the link above (it came in the mail, not in the newspaper) it also contains 12 more manufacturer’s coupons for all of these brands. WOW! And don’t forget, you’ll also get a Catalina for 40 Box Tops. If you have kids, send this to school with them — it’s just like giving a $4 donation to the school.
And the best part? This deal runs through the rest of the month of September, so that’s a lot of time to stock up on paper products!
Note: As with all complex Catalina deals, understand that there is always the potential for something to go wrong. Buying even one item not included with the deal will “break” it and not produce the Catalina if you’re counting it toward your $20 total (example – buying Huggies Baby Wipes that are any other variety other than “Natural Care” will not work, even though there are at least 4 other types on the shelf.) And, there are always the out-of-control factors with Catalinas, like the machine being out of ink, paper, or losing its satellite link temporarily. If you EVER do not get the end result you want with a Catalina deal, take your items to the service counter and ask for a refund. The counter will likely have NO idea what kind of Catalina deals are running at any given time (that information is distributed by Catalina, and usually not the store) nor do they have any copies of this Kimberly Clark promo flyer in the store either.
Catalina deals are kind of like driving a racecar. Everyone wants to do it given the opportunity, but if you’re not fully familiar with how they operate, there are many avenues for things to take a wrong turn. I’ll help as much as I can, but some of these deals are very complex. However, Catalina deals are the #1 request I get from readers — everybody wants to know about them because they have the potential to save you big money! So I share them whenever I can, and I always try them myself first at Jewel to make sure they’re working as described. But it’s impossible for me to know every single variety/type/price of the items you purchased to determine why you might not have gotten a Catalina, especially if it was a temporary hardware issue with the printer.
Web Pet Freebies
Time for another week of free stuff on the web! (Don’t you love having these things arrive in your mailbox too? This past week I got the coupon for the free Cascade Crystal Clear, a coupon for a free bag of Iams dog food, and a free box of Quaker Oats products, which included granola bars, cereal, cookies and snacks.) Each week, I’ll post the best of what’s free… and this week, there’s a lot of free things for our furry four-legged family members. So here we go:
purinaonedifference.com (MUST paste link into your browser) – a free bag of Purina One dog and/or cat food
Free can of Mighty Dog (link is at lower right side of page.)
Also – here’s a great tip if you got the coupon for the free Iams Dog Food from a couple weeks ago. The coupon is for a free 3.5lb. bag of Iams, or $6 off a 6lb. bag. If you want the free smaller bag, go for it. Or, you can almost double your dog food for a small amount of money:
The 6lb. bag is on sale for $12.19 at Target. Stacking it with this $5 off Iams store coupon for Target will give you $11.00 off… making your 6lbs. of dog food just $1.19.
If you didn’t request the free bag of Iams coupon, you might still get it in time before the Target coupon expires next month – paste this link in your browser, and go for it:

New to this site? It’s very important that you save ALL your coupons from the Sunday paper — not just the ones you think you’ll use! When your coupons come each week, stick them in a folder – date the front (I use a Sharpie) and then… wait for them to line up to great deals! Don’t even cut them out. You’ll only be cutting the ones you need.
These deals reference coupons that appeared in the Chicago Tribune. Other newspapers do not have nearly as many coupons, so if you subscribe to another paper, you may not have the same coupons these deals are calling for. The largest newspaper in any market has the most coupons, and in our area, that’s the Tribune.

I am pretty new to the site and I don’t have coupons saved from August. Is there anyway to get coupons from previous months?? Also to get the Cherrio’s deal do you have to have the buy one get one free coupon? I want to get all of these deals but don’t understand how to. :( Since I have signed up I have been saving all my coupons but I don’t have some stuff to get the great deals you mentioned for this week. I also don’t understand how you get a $5 gift from Target when you buy the so many boxes of Cherrio’s…is it automatic at the register to get a gift card? I’m confused! Also for the Kotex deal, what if you don’t subscribe to All You magazine to get the extra coupons…can you still get the deal? I’m just not sure how this all works. PLEASE HELP!

blackvaniila, you are a riot.
Its tough when you are first getting into it, because there are so many deals and scenarios to do you start to feel overwhelmed.
Jill does a fabulous job of saying go here, use this and you will get this deal…so it should be fairly easy to follow her lead. Just follow what she says to do and you will be fine elaski!
