The April 2013 issue of Mad Magazine has a three-page flyer in the middle for a store that looks suspiciously like Walgreens, but it’s not Walgreens…

It’s “Gangreens!” And you won’t believe some of the “sales” this week!

Who hasn’t been a little amused by the wide variety of ambiguously-named shower gels?

The “As Seen On TV” aisle is always full of intriguing products – like this MagiCup!

Most salsas advertise that they’re made in the Southwest, near the border. This salsa’s proudly made at the other border! Mmm!

I love Disney, but let’s not give them any ideas. $5.99 is steep for a 24-pack of bottled water, even if it’s delicious Splash Mountain water..!

I remember when they used to do ‘commercials’ for products and (being much younger and more naïve) I used to sit and watch with mouth hanging open, not believing my eyes and ears as to what I thought I was seeing on TV. I don’t know who eventually enlightened me as to the sarcastic nature of these ads :~D

    Yeah … MAD Magazine. The print version was always much better than MAD TV.

  4. My cousin would get Mad Magazine sometimes when I was a kid and those fake ads and such were my favorite. Thanks for the trip down memory lane too with SNL. My friend and I when we were kids would do tape recordings of fake commercials like SNL would do. Do you remember I think for Scope, there was green fumes coming out of the peoples mouths when they talked and the other person would turn away in disgust? lol… was such high tech work for the day! How fun thanks for posting this. I haven’t seen a Mad Magazine in a long time!
