Before I left, I perused Dollar General’s coupon policy online, and here’s what it says about overage:
Coupon Overage
If a coupon value is more than the price of the item, the remaining value will be applied to the balance of the transaction. Coupon overage can only be applied to the balance and will not be given back at the end of the transaction. Coupon overages will only be applied to the store merchandise remaining in the transaction and cannot be applied to gift cards, pre-paid money cards or phone cards. Other restrictions may apply. Cash back will not be given.
I printed four $4-off-2 coupons and headed to Dollar General, where indeed I found $1 bags of Beneful Healthy Smile treats!
As long as my dog was getting treats today, I figured I’d get some too. (Hey, once in a while you’ve got to treat yourself!) I got eight bags of dollar candy.

I was unsure of trying it there since I always have problems with coupons at DG. Always! Their digital system is not perfect either. I am glad you had no issues and did not have to argue the coupon policy with them. I am sure none of the employees know this new policy change. It seems like I am the only person to use coupons there!
I am going to see if they carry the small bottles of Nivea body wash there. With an insert coupon, it makes them only 50c after coupon. I already loaded up on a candy deal from Krogers mega sale or I’d use my overage on some candy like you did! Awesome deal!!!
