Hi- I had a bad experience at the Dominick’s on Dempster and Dodge in Evanston this last Sunday. I went there so I could get the cheap Breyer’s, and I also had a personalized deal on Amy’s frozen meals for $1.79, and I had a $5 off $25 coupon, and a $5 off $15 frozen coupon. I did not get there until after 10:00pm, and at 9:00pm, they shut down all the other registers, and they only have self checkout with one person manning it, and customer services closes at 8:00pm.
While I was shopping there, I noticed that they had the 32 oz. cans of Hills Brothers marked down to $6.99, and I told myself that was a good deal, and I could apply it to the $5/$25 coupon. I also got a bunch of Amy’s frozen dinners and I got one Breyers, which I had a $1 ecoupon for. When I got to self checkout and scanned my coffee, it scanned $14.99, and I told the person at self checkout that it was supposed to be on sale. He told me to go back and check and see how much it was reduced to. I noticed on the shelf tag that the dark roast was reduced, and all they had on the shelf was the medium roast, for which there was not a shelf tag for. I then told him that I did not want it, and he took it off.
I then started scanning my Amy’s dinners, and the first one scanned okay, but then the second and third one did not. I think it was only the regular Amy’s that was on my personalized deals, and I got mostly the lite version. I put back the rest of the lite ones in the freezer. I did not have him delete the two that I paid regular price for, because I was afraid that my $5/$15 frozen coupon would not come off. I then scanned the Breyers, and that scanned okay. When I hit the total, my bill was over $13.00. I put in a $20 bill, and then the register froze on me. Next thing I knew the register went down for maintenance.
The person in charge of self check asked the manager what he should do, and the manager told him to just give me my change back if I did not need a receipt, and if I needed a receipt they would have to scan it again. I told him that I had all those coupons which I had just applied to my order, and they would not be valid anymore. They ended up doing a guesstimate about how much I spent, and deducted that from the $20 I gave the register, and I walked out of there with no receipt. All this took me forever, and I wanted to get home. It was very frustrating. I wish Dominick’s had those scanners in the store like Jewel does. At Jewel before I purchase anything that is on clearance, I scan it, and if it has not been marked down in the system, I don’t buy it. Thanks, Nancy

I had a wonderful Dominick’s trip today. My JFU had a $5-off-$20 AND a $5-off-$25 ecoupon loaded, both with different dates that overlapped for a few days. Did they both come off? Oh yes. I bought six packs of Kraft sliced cheese and used two $1.50-off-2 printables and the $1.50-off-2 ecoupon on the third pair. Did a round of Yoplait yogurt cups & picked up cheap eggs and a few other things.
I also had a $3-off-$15 meat purchase which I attempted to use on the grass-fed beef. That one didn’t come off automatically so they did it at the counter.
But, the real reason I’m writing is to let anyone who’s doing the Kellogg’s and free milk deal know this: Ad says you can get a free gallon OR organic half gallon. My organic did not come off when I bought my four boxes of cereal, and that too they paid me for at the counter.
Now I will celebrate my good trip with my .67 Oreos! (And all the snacks I got at Meijer up the street in their crazy Nabisco sale.)
