My beautiful mother saw on the NBC news last night that Dominick’s stores (which were previously 50% off) are dropping to 75% off today. My Dominick’s was picked pretty bare on Monday, so I have no plans to go out today. But, if anyone else does, please let us know if this is true.
UPDATE: Yes, they are! Feel free to share your finds below…

75% off including dairy. Meat not included. Lactaid milk for $.86!
This is so surreal…while the store was fairly empty yesterday I only stopped in to get the Hormel ham which they did not have any because they haven’t been shipping any meat to that store.
But in each aisle while there was only a few items stocks, it was the items I could use. There was gallons of Arizona tea and the only flavor; Arnold Palmer half/half which my son loves. Next aisle was baking. Ghiradelli chocolate bars and bags along with Safeway chips with long expiration dates. They had Nestle but only butterscotch: the actual one I was out of (everyone seems to enjoy the butterscotch cookie this year). This is the time of year I stock up on baking items and store them in bins in the basement. Daughter mentioned mom while you bought all that .25 dip we have no chips. No problem all they had was Snack Artist and only regular and barbeque flavors the flavors we use.
Now today flour, sugar (incl. 10x and brown) all 75% off that is even better than when I go to Sam’s for a 25 lb bag.
Now today it happened again. No hams yet. No crackers in aisle except for graham crackers which our family loves (husband mixes it with milk for cereal sometimes). Only chips today was Cheddar Sour Cream, the ones I eat for lunch with my sandwich. Out of Bisquick no problem $.94 for 40 oz. Took advantage of the cheese being on sale by buying specialty mexican cheeses from Cacique normally in the $5.00 range for $1.25.
Been waiting for Intl Delight creams to go on sale so today purchased the large ones with good expiration dates for $1 each. Whipping cream from Lucerne (their cans seem to last longer than the named brand) for $1.25.
And they had a few bottles of ketchup which we are out of.
Couldn’t get clarification of what discounts were on meat. Seems there were little conferences back in that dept. with meat employees and a manager like making deals on special cuts. Couldn’t stick around had to get to work.
I saved over $300 today alone. I am usually unlucky and a day late dollar short. I think it is good karma though. I really loved shopping there and enjoyed talking with the employees prior to getting to work. They will be sorely missed.
Despite all that is going on with employees, the manager was bagging and one customer asked how he was doing…he said I’m still alive and kicking and that’s all that matters. While his employees may not feel the same way, he makes an effort to keep spirits up and I think it was not for show but genuine.
Hope everyone has a safe, happy, joyous and healthy holiday.

Has anyone been to to the Dominick’s in Romeoville or Joliet (Essington)? Are they participating in the 75% off & 50% meat? Please let me know. Thanks

I actually think they saved some for employees as I saw random people going in the back and grabbing carts of meat and going to check out. Which I think is great!!!!
I did find one package of beef, gallon of milk for $0.70, cheese for $0.50, sunflower seeds, large boxes of corn dogs for $1.75, frozen milk shakes, breakfast sandwiches, dijon mustard.
It was a good day!

I was at CL at 7 this morning. Mostly for the meat. I got 2 flank steak, 4 sirloin steak, pot roast, pork chops & tenderloin, 2 chicken breasts & 3 wings, corned beef.
Also a bunch more cheese and couple other things. There was hardly anyone there,
just a couple men. The lady from the meat dept said the ground meat was not 50% off.
They had a lot of yogurt and cheese left. Frozen veg, pasta and sauce, some baking stuff. Came home and packaged my meat with my food saver, and took it to my daughter’s house and put it in her extra freezer. :-) Mine is stuffed and I still have to put some Christmas food in it! Going to try and steal some space from my neighbor.

Hi- I just came back from the Dempster/Dodge store in Evanston, and the crowds are a lot less than they were last Friday, although a lot of customers are filling up their carts all the way. There was tons of cheese, yogurt and frozen dinners. If you are looking for toilet paper or detergent the only way you are going to get it is if you happen to be there when the truck comes in. The checker told me that they are getting in another load of stuff from the warehouse either tonight or tomorrow morning. He said he has seen customers walk out of the store with 6 carts of paper products at one time.
If you are looking for the clementine cuties, you are not going to find them. At least half of the produce section was empty. They still had a fair amount of organic if anybody is interested in that though. I scored some bananas for $.25 a pound. I also got lots of yogurt for $.25 each, and cheese for $.50-$.80 a package. I did not look at the specialty cheese in the deli section. That might have only been 50% off. All the deli stuff including the rotisserie chicken was 50% off. All the milk was 75% off. I got a half gallon of Horizon for $1.30. I got some frozen healthy choice and eating right for $.50 a piece. I would have gotten more, but I have no room in my freezer. They had lots of Alexia frozen potatoes for 75% off too, and so those would probably be $.75, I was going to get one of those, but I was worried that I would not have room in my freezer. I got 14 ounce cans of Safeway canned tomatoes for $.22 each
The crowds were a lot more manageable than they were last Friday. There was not a lot of meat, and there were very few boxes of cereal. There were lots of bags of brown sugar, and there was some flour, including some whole wheat and bread flour. I also got some peter pan natural peanut butter for $.90 a jar. There was some canned cat food left, and lots of wine, but no beer or hard liquor. The only thing that was not on sale was the bread such as brownberry. It is definately worth a trip if you are near a Dominick’s. I got $79 worth of groceries for $18 today. Hope this helps, Nancy

Hi- Somebody over on LTH just posted that the Bannockburn store is going to remain open until the end of January due to the fact that their lease will not allow them to close earlier it sounds like, and so they are not running any clearance sales right now, and they are restocking their shelves. Hope this helps, Nancy

Hi- Somebody at MUM posted today that they still have $32,000,000 worth of stuff in the warehouse to deliver to the stores! I wonder if Jewel is doing any business this week?

Just got done at Fox Rive Grove. My husband is getting fed up, but he does not get it. So bummed the freezer is full with these deals. Now the pantry will be too. Spent 340 today saved 900+. Bought brand name pop, Gatorade, meat, cheese, nuts… The list goes on. Mostly stuff I would never buy. I am usually a perimeter shopper…produce, meat, dairy. So the kids are so excited for cracker jacks and such.

We stopped back at Crystal Lake on the way home tonight. I was there at 7 am this morn. Totally wiped out now. Yogurt was full this am, nothing, dairy, nothing.
All isles were empty. One guy was putting some pizzas and other stuff on an end cap.
Asked him if the were getting more stuff in, he didn’t know. Wished him well…..
so sad for all the employees……… :-)
Truly, the WHOLE store was empty!! Hardly anything in produce either!

It sounds like a lot of people got some great 75% off deals. I am hoping Geneva, or Bartlett gets something in if they supposedly have more product to ship out of their warehouse. It sounds like it is hit or miss and you have to hit the store just after they get their load in (whenever that might be).

We were out and about today, and we stopped at both the Crystal Lake Dominick’s (around 1:30pm) and Lake in the Hills (around 2:30pm.) Both stores are pretty bare. There is really not much of anything left at all at Crystal Lake. The only things we found were some Armour Lunchmakers for .25, down from $1. I had some .50-off-3 coupons with me (they were cheap last week at Piggly Wiggly, but our store ran out) so those were super cheap.
They also had quite a few Dominick’s reusable shopping bags left. $1.49 down to .37 each. I bought 12. Don’t laugh – of all my reusable bags, the Dominick’s bags have lasted the longest. I don’t know what it is about them, but I’ve tossed out many Jewel and Meijer reusables after they wore out and broke. Not so with my Dominick’s bags — I even have one that says “Earth Day 2009!” Anyway, .37 for good bags is cheap. That was it for Crystal Lake.
Then we stopped at LITH as it is on the way home from CL, and there are a few more things there, but not much. Quite a few people stocking up on Hallmark as they have a lot of that left.
At LITH, we bought six boxes of Streitz Matzo for .89 each. The boys found a large bag of Smarties for .62 and some sheets of stickers (robots and monsters) for .40 each.
That’s it. I wouldn’t make a special trip to either one of these stores.
(I also wouldn’t make a special trip to any destination in Crystal Lake that necessitates driving down Rt. 14 today either. All lanes of 14 in either direction look like a parking lot. Traffic is a nightmare and barely moving. It took us 20 minutes to get from the Shell station near the TJ Maxx to Dominick’s – I would guess that’s about a 1.5 mile drive, if that.)

I think it’s really weird they’re still playing so many commercials on the radio.
Probably had a contract through a certain date or something….
I listen to the Drive and it seems like there’s one every hour.

I scored a whopper of a deal today: 6 cans of Nutramigen formula. They were originally priced at $24.99 * 6 = 149.94 – 75% = $37.50 or $6.25/can.

Can anyone confirm if the Shorewood store has 50% off items. I saw them on the list that they are not included in the 75% off list. It seems that they will continue to be stocked until Jan. Thanks
