  1. My husband turned me on to an iPhone recently and now can’t live without it! I use it for everything. I already use it make my weekly shopping lists on but it would be a great tool to be able to pull up ads and coupons directly on the phone.   4. Personally, I dislike that everything is so technilogical these days. Being unemployed for the past year, I can’t afford one and if i could i’d likely stay with a basic cell phone.

  5. Downloaded the app. Scrolls faster than the website. I like it! Now I will be able to pull up my prices faster at the customer service counter when I have to “prove up” my “personalized deals” that don’t come off at the register. Dom’s should spend more time making sure all their fancy-pants technology works at the store rather then spending time creating more of this. Thank you for the Ragu!

  18. I’m really liking Dominicks – wish there was one closer. Have an “smart” I-phone (ya gotta get one of these Jill, and get rid of your “dumb” phone) and love this app. The one in Fox Lake/Volo has VERY help Customer Service.

  19. Dominick’s has certainly been giving me more reasons to shop there. I don’t have a phone to use this app but it’s things like these that make me think it won’t be much longer before I feel the need to get one.

  21. I love the idea of a Dominick’s app and I’m loading it on my iPhone as I type this. I would definitely use it. I love apps for stores I shop at.

  22. What with Just4U and now this, they seem to be saying they want to be competitive! Will it continue? Are they a force to be reckoned with? That remains to be seen.

  24. The ap is actually very user friendly, so I will use it. I often find myself having to prove to the cashiers what is on my J4U, and this will make it easier.

  25. Before couponing, I shopped one store, once a week for all my needs. A $50.00 gift card would give me a reason to go there.

  26. Great! This app will allow us to “prove” we downloaded their deals from their Just4U program that is supposed to be paperless. When the deals/coupons don’t work, they say “did you print it out? You have to prove you applied the coupon to your card.” That always cracks me up. So much for paperless! Hopefully the app will solve this problem….unfortunately, only for the folks with iPhones…hmmm.

  27. This sounds great. If I had an I-phone, I would definitely use it. I have to say, I have been impressed with Dominicks the last few weeks. Their prices are beating Jewel, and it seems they are working hard to get customers back in their stores.

  29. Wow! Great idea, only I just don’t own an I-Phone. Hard enough as it is to juggle what I do have than to add more technology. If it works with the i-pod 4, my daughter could use it for me. Sure could use the $50 Dom’s gc. We are shopping there a lot more with the milk prices and some other things being so cheap. I really like how I can print out my J4U sheet @ Dom’s just before shopping. Saves paper and $.

  30. While I don’t have an iPhone, the app might be nice to have. While I have never needed to prove that I had loaded something onto my card, it would be nice to be able to verify for myself that I loaded something.

  32. I don’t have a smart phone, but if I did, I think I would really like this. I’ve been shopping at Dominicks a lot more lately with all of the great JFU sales and it would be nice to have all of those deals and coupons at my fingertips while I shop so I don’t miss anything.

  36. I LOVE this app! I used to have to print my Just4U list and take it with me and cross reference and having it on my phone is so much easier! I can save money on paper and ink not to mention free wi-fi at my Dominick’s.

  37. sure is rolling out all the stops lately to woo back shoppers. not that i’ve had any big issues, but maybe they should fix the problems with the e-coupons & j4u before adding any new promos.

  39. I have been playing with the app for a couple days now on my iPhone and I like it. It will be great when I am shopping and want to check my coupons or j4u or personalized price. Now I don’t have to email the list to myself or print it out!

  43. I like the idea. There are times I’m loading the whole website on my phone in the parking lot just to add the deals that I forgot. An ap would be so much nicer to allow me to go straight to it without everything else.

  46. From Safari, the Dominicks webpage loads very very slow. I was super excited to see this app, it works way better than going through Safari! And the Alfredo Ragu counts as a free sauce too!!

  48. I am getting a bit frustrated that stores are giving folks with expensive phones better deals than those of us that don’t have those phones. I can’t afford an iPhone and the monthly charges. So I can’t enjoy these perqs.

  59. I just downloaded the app and will definitely use it! How nice to be able to have all the info on my phone instead of printing out the shopping list. Way more convenient!

  60. Adding coupons via your phone is wonderful and should be helpful. My complaint would be standing in line behind the person who feels it is their right to hold up everyone to add an item or check a list. Be considerate and get out of line to update your info. Stop talking when checking out so when the checker hits total you dont want to go over every item. BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS!

  65. No iPhone here. Really turned off by the whole “walled garden” Apple ecosystem. If I buy a gadget I want to be able to use it however I choose, not however the manufacturer decides that I can or cannot.

  66. It seems pretty user friendly! I look forward to something making shopping easy. Sometimes it’s a lot of work to get everything together before going out. I’ll be nice to have it in my hand if there are any problems come time for checkout too! :)

  71. It is nice amount to go grocery shopping with. I do not have one of those fancy phones – so I do not think it is fair to offer something that not everyone has. When I load the Dominicks coupons from my computer to my card it does not always work. I think Dominick’s needs to work on fixing the issue with the coupons being loaded to the card. Thank you!

  76. I think the app is a great tool. I would use it every time I shop at Dominick’s. I can take my JFU list with me withouthavnig to print it out or look it up in the store. It will be all right there!

  77. I think it’s a good idea! I always print my JFU’s out so that I have proof on the rare (HAHA) occasion that they do not actually apply :0) Now I can save a tree or two.

  79. I love this idea. Every time I go to the store I am on my phone trying to make sure certain things are loaded on my just for u or checking to make sure the item was a personalized price. It takes so long for my phone to do his waiting for the 3g service. I bet that this app will make it 100 times faster and easier to do this!

  96. This is so awesome. I wish Jewel could even get onboard with ANYTHING JFU related. They really need to get moving with their technology. I’m going to have my husband download the app tonight to his iPhone. Just might make the drive to Randall to shop at the Dominick’s there.

As a couponer and not a smartphone enthusiast, I don’t understand the advantage of this over taking a look at the website while making my list and getting my coupon matchups before a shopping trip. But for the more casual shopper who likes playing with her phone and doesn’t really plan a shopping trip, I can see the benefit of loading the specials to a fresh values card “on the fly”. There’s a target demographic for this, but they’re probably not reading couponing blogs… :)

  108. I try to save paper and email my shopping list and pull it up on my phone but the full email won’t download due to the length. An app that allows you to see all your deals while your in the store is a great idea!

It would be nice to be able to load your Just for U coupons and deals while away from home for those last minute unexpected trips to the store. If I leave the house without having already taken care of it, I’m just out of luck. I CAN use free food though and would love to win the gift card.

  138. It would be so convenient to have your “Just 4 U” shopping list at your fingertips, no need to print, no need to update. You could stop in Dominick’s at any moment and always have your list at hand.

  160. I don’t have an Iphone so it’s not a decision I need to make. But, I’ve had a lot of issues with Just for You, so I’d be leery of giving Dominick’s another opportunity to frustrate me. However…a $50 gift card is a different story altogether :)

  162. I don’t have an iPhone, but I think I’d use it if I did. It beats having to print out the junk from their website every time, just to prove that you indeed have the offer on your card (just in case it doesn’t register right when checking out).

  167. So far so good. I really like it. It isn’t letting me delete my checked items off the shopping list, but I will see if maybe it will when I go back in… play around with it. I wonder if we can be in the store and add in coupons or personalized pricing etc. and it take effect immediately?

  170. I’ve downloaded the new Dom’s app and played around with it for about 20 minutes. So far, it seems waaaaayyyy easy to use. Usually I have to have 2 windows open to create my Dom’s list (well, actually 3 if you count http://www.jillcataldo.com! ;-D): 1 window for the Just 4 U page(s) and one for their weekly flyer. I prefer to look at flyers online vs. paper versions (easier to find stuff and less clutter around the house). With this app, everything is in one place! And I can create my shopping list as I go along! I have to say that I’m truly amazed Dominick’s/Safeway came up with such a user friendly app. Now we’ll wait and see what happens when I go to the store….

    To the gal that wondered if she could add stuff while at the store– I’ve done that before via Safari on my iPhone with varied success. One time it worked because I was in the store another 40 minutes after I added stuff to J4U. Another time, it was only 15 minutes, and nothing was coming up so the cashier had to do key in everything (which was VERY nice).

  174. It is great, I downloaded it today on my way to Dominicks and it was a great tool to keep up my deals rather using print outs. I love this app! Took advantage of some great deal matches and saved $40.

  177. I personally think that it is a great idea and it would be for the convenience of many who want to save in groceries. This can also promote Dominick’s because it would be publicized through the apps which again is to the convenience of costumers. The apps for Dominick’s is probably what had drawn me to this website. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come accross something mid shopping and a J4U deal is not on my list. I have to go to the web site which takes forever to load. This app for blackberry would be so helpful.

  184. I don’t have an Iphone so feel left out with these promos. Saving money means saving with cell service, too. My prepaid phone, is never listed as a provider that accepts these deals. Too bad. I may sign up if they worked

  190. It is very frustrating to not know the exact product that is on your just 4 u list. I get to the cereal isle and then realize I do not know which cereal is being discounted for me. Which size, which flavors? What was that spice I get for free this week? I have to go to the front of the store and ask, or I have to log onto their computers and print out a sheet when I am really in a hurry. This app would be great for these situations!

  194. I saw that Dominick’s had an app and I did download it. I didn’t know there was a Ragu pasta sauce giveaway though. I do think it will be nice to have a way to quickly and easily look up their weekly ad, coupons, and personalized deals. :)

  197. I am going to love this app. As a matter of fact I am going to go use this app today. I think it will be really convenient to have the list in my phone since I do a list per store on paper anyway. It saves a step.

  216. I like the App idea. I tried to register my card and for 30 min. I got caught up in an error loop with a message to call customer service. We tried 3 times to fix the loop; however, I was told that the App must mot be working and I should go online to register. Note to Corporate @ Dominicks–please make sure your technology is working before you roll it out to the public. You still have me as a customer but many potential customers will give up in frustration and let their friends know. I like your selection especially the olive bread and your deli items and soup so I will continue to be a customer.

  218. The app loaded quickly. The list capability is helpful to keep notes. I hope we see more coupons being able to be shown and used in app form.
    If this is to be a helpful comment list to learn from, no one really needs to know if you don’t have a smart phone.

  227. …Someone had shared an experience about an older gentleman at customer service asking why his price was different than the card or jfu price and when they tried to explain about cards and signing up and uploading he got frustrated and walked away.
    …My Dad won’t even use a Jewel card because he feels like they are using his personal shopping information to benefit themselves.
    …I like stores like Butera and Ultra. No cards, great prices, great sales, excellent customer service and “more power to ya” attitude towards couponers.
    …I think about the older gentleman at Dominicks when he sees a sale price. It’s like “well this price isn’t for -you because -you don’t belong to our secret club of card holding, uploading, app using, button pushing, price matching warriors. So for your punishment -you will have to pay a higher price.

  231. This is exciting news! I can’t wait to download Dominick’s new iPhone app! Just last week, my husband and I were shopping at Dominick’s when I realized I forgot my printed shopping list from their website. So I had to view my Just for You deals, etc. from my phone–not so easy to do! It loaded slow and it was difficult to zoom in well. Having an app that will take me directly to my deals and shopping lists will be great! Thanks Dominick’s–great idea!

  288. Yes there is a app for DROID coming soon. The J4U program does work and will save you plenty. If some of you are having problems you may be having problems because of the following items: phone number doesn’t match card, multiple cards that are not linked together. As a checker and a loyal coupon shopper I urge you to use the web site. Load your coupons at lease an hour before you shop and you will have no problems. If you are standing in line updating you will have problems. PLEASE BE POLITE TO THE STAFF. We all get frustrated but they are doing a job. They have limits of what they can do and adjust at the register. I am all for coupons and applaude my customers when they use them. You should be able to save 50% on every trip if you shop smart and use the J4U program. They can not scan a card to give you the sale price. They can not use their card of they will loose their job. Times are tough for everyone so lets work together. At our store we have adjusted items for the seniors with no problems. Just good customer service. Many of them would never use a computer or understand the idea that this needs to be done weekly. Work with the checker and let them know if you have FREE coupons. They need to list the price. If they know at the time it is scanned you will save time and have a better shopping experience. Stores are cracking down on what can be done at the register. This is not the checker fault but caused by the customer that brings the 12 family members and just purchases the milk and eggs and then goes to their quick mart and resells them. Work together and be polite you will go far with kindness and stop throwing items on the belt.

  296. downloaded it today & used it to pull up the rachael ray nutrish dog food one-time $2 off coupon that was loaded to my card but did not come off during my transaction! btw, it’s not a bad deal…there’s a coupon for $2.50 in SS 11/13 SS for a 6lb+ bag & w/your preferred card, you get $1 off the 6lb bag. add that to the $2 just for u coupon, and it’s only $2.49 for a 6lb bag! pretty good deal if your dog eats Nutrish like mine does!

  309. I loved the app, until it blew out my shopping list. I had to re-add everything to the list. All the deals loaded to my card were saved, but not the list. I would also like to see the shopping list sort more closely to the order in which you find things in the store. I realize not every store is laid out the same, but produce always comes first. You can reorder the list, but it would be more convenient if it were mostly already in shopping order. Hopefully my disappearing list was a one time thing.

  310. I would for sure try this if they had it for Android users. If it worked it would be easier than priting off the list. Dominicks is a lot better. When they first started every week at least one if not multiple items did not ring up correctly and I had to go to the service desk to get a refund.

  315. It’s a great start to an app. Could use the segregation of coupons vs personalized deals, etc. like the full website provides. The app bulks all deals together and you just run through the entire list to add deals to your card. Works like a charm. I was adding offers to my card literally on the way to Dominicks (no, I was not driving), and by the time we were done shopping, which wasn’t too long, I got all the deals I had added.

  317. I just put it on my ipad, it looks good so far. I can see what the pp mentioned about the coupon savings being lumped together, but at least you can sort by category (i.e. dairy, meat, etc.).
    I currently use Shopper to look at flyers, and search for items on sale. It works for lots of stores, like walgreens, cvs, kohls, target…. It hasn’t worked in the past to show me the flyer for Jewel or Dominicks, but Jewel/Albertson’s is in my list if something is on sale.
    I recently purchased Apple’s spreadsheet program, but haven’t made full use of it yet.

    When are we going to have a Jill Cataldo app? :)

I have downloaded and used the app on my iphone, but I have noticed that some of my coupons did not show up as “loaded to my card” on my iphone, even though they had been loaded while I was on my computer. For example, I got the free Ragu deal as well as the free O Organics spice coupon; both show up on my computer, but not on my iphone. I certainly hope this is a temporary error on my part and not a app issue. Other than that, it’s much more convenient than pulling up JFU through a browser.

  325. I wasn’t a Dominick’s shopper before because of my misconception that it was an expensive store to shop at, but since watching Jill’s Super Couponing DVD, and reading about this app on her site and downloading on to my phone, I will be shopping at Dominick’s more often now.

  340. I think the more mobile phones that have apps, the more stores should create them and Dominick’s is right on track! To be able to pull up the circular on the fly or add the coupons while sitting in the parking lot is very valuable, in my opinion. Now only if I had a phone that could use this…my wishlist grows :o)

  342. I think it’s a wonderful tool, but I don’t own an iPhone. Neither do any of my family members nor many of my friends. One day, I’d love to own an iPhone, but it’s not to be right now. It would be nice if Dominick’s offered similar apps for other smartphones along with a promotion most people could participate in.
