If you’re new to my blog, take a quick minute to read Using this site and bring yourself up to speed on all the coupon terminology and abbreviations.
A note to my non-Midwest readers: While my weekly deals focus on some Chicagoland stores, the Kroger, Target, Walgreens and CVS deals apply nationally. And, if you’re shopping at a SuperValu or Safeway store you may find similar sales to our Jewel-Osco and Dominick’s deals. Welcome, and enjoy!
and the drugstore/general merchandise store deals run through Saturday.
“Deals of the Week” is written assuming you are using the inserts from the Chicago Tribune (or, if reading from outside Chicagoland, the largest newspaper serving your market area. That largest paper has the most, highest-value coupons. The content, coupons, and dollar amounts of the coupons in the RedPlum and SmartSource inserts differs by paper, so to coupon effectively, it’s best to subscribe to the paper that contains the highest-value coupons.)
They are now offering discount subscription codes for MULTIPLE newspapers to the same address! (Link opens in new window.)

Grocery Deals
Starting at Jewel-Osco… View weekly ad | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Jewel-Osco ecoupons
IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: All Jewel locations have updated their cash registers to a new system. If you are using TWO coupons on a Buy One, Get One Free sale, the register is currently scanning the second coupon as $0.00. The register will not beep and you will have no way of knowing your coupon’s value did not get recognized unless you are watching closely. Jewel is working on a solution to this problem and I have a response from corporate here indicating that their two-coupons-on-a-B1G1F policy has NOT changed. Watch your registers.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE:Ecoupons you can currently use with the Jewel-Osco Rewards card are via SavingStar and Jewel-Osco’s new ecoupons. Note that the ecoupons you can load to card are often the same as the ones you can print at Coupons.com. If you print them, you get two prints, but if you load them, you only get ONE. Just an FYI.
LAST IMPORTANT JEWEL-OSCO NOTE: Jewel-Osco has gone to a one-page paper ad in the newspaper some weeks in some market areas, but the full Sunday ad is available online at www.jewelosco.com. This ad is valid at ALL stores, even if you did not receive the full ad in your local paper.
Jewel-Osco information:
Are you on the Jewel-Osco email list? At times, Jewel sends out coupons to match with their current sales, and often they’re store coupons that can be stacked with manufacturer coupons!
Let’s go to Dominick’s… View weekly ad | Load Dominick’s Just For U ecoupons and Deal Match offers
Note to Safeway shoppers reading from outside Chicagoland: In Chicago, Dominick’s does not double coupons (as other Safeway stores do) – if your store doubles, you’ll do even better with many of these deals. Also in Chicago, previously-available ecoupons (Cellfire, ShortCuts and PGEsaver) have been discontinued. Ecoupons are now available in the “Just For U / Coupon Center” section of electronic coupons available at Dominicks.com.
Heading over to Meijer, here are your best deals for Meijer stores in in Algonquin, Aurora, Bloomingdale, Bolingbrook, Elgin, McHenry, Oswego, Plainfield, Rolling Meadows, St. Charles, and the Indianapolis area:
View weekly ad | Load Meijer Mperks ecoupons
Note that Meijers in other states are on different schedules. The Illinois Meijers are about a week behind on the sales vs. most of Indiana/Michigan. If you’re in Illinois, these Meijer deals run through Wednesday. If you’re reading from another state, they ENDED Saturday at your store… Confusing? Yes.
AND, if you shop at the Illinois NILES or ORLAND Meijer locations, they typically haven’t been following the same sale flyer as the other Illinois Meijers.
Heading over to Kroger… View weekly ad | Load Kroger ecoupons | Load SavingStar ecoupons | Load Cellfire ecoupons | Load ShortCuts ecoupons | Load PGEsaver.com ecoupons
Jewel-Osco | Dominick’s (Safeway) | Meijer | Kroger | Target | Walgreens | CVS | Walmart | Free |
Here are your Hilander deals (also running at Logli and Schnucks)… View weekly ad | Load “Schnupons” ecoupons
The Rockford-area Logli stores share the same ad as Hilander (Schnucks) now, so these deals apply at the four Rockford-area Logli stores as well. The current ad is good through Tuesday.
Off to Target…
View weekly ad | Print store coupons from Target.com …
Target Notes:
You get .05 off your total at Target for each reusable bag you bring and use. If you pay with the Target credit or debit card, you receive another 5% off.
Drugstore Deals
Heading to Walgreens (View weekly ad | On Fridays, preview next week’s ad)…
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WALGREENS AD: Walgreens is no longer putting its entire ad in the paper newspaper version. There are online-only ad pages that you can look at via this link: View weekly ad
And finally, over at CVS (View weekly ad) | Load SavingStar ecoupons
CVS Tips: Remember to always scan your CVS card at the Coupon Center scanner in the store — it prints bonus coupons for you! You may want to scan your coupon more than once – it’s been printing different coupons on subsequent scans!
And, if you haven’t already, make sure your CVS ExtraCare card is registered for the CVS Beauty Club before you do any deals involving beauty products. It gives you $5 in ExtraBucks for every $50 you spend on beauty products, and it is cumulative, meaning you don’t have to spend $50 in one trip. It keeps track for you and will automatically print EBs on your next visit to the store when you reach a $50 threshold.

Wrapping things up with Walmart…
Policies to know:
- Walmart will price match any competitor’s advertised price. Bring the other store’s flyers with you to the store. While the policy doesn’t require this, it does speed the price-matching along.
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept other store’s STORE coupons with an actual price listed on them. For example, a Dominick’s store coupon advertising “.99 Ragu Pasta Sauce” would be accepted. A Walgreens store coupon advertising “2/$1 Morton’s Salt” would be accepted. (A Target store coupon for “$2.50 off Huggies” would not, because it does not show the actual selling price of the item.)
- With the new coupon policy, Walmart will also accept competitor’s Catalina manufacturer coupons. You can get a Catalina for $1 off Snuggle and use it at Walmart.
- Walmart’s new coupon policy specifically addresses coupon overage. It says “Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.”
I would print a copy and carry a copy of the coupon policy with you if you anticipate any issues.
I do not blog full Walmart deals each week unless there is a weekly ad with noteworthy deals. Every store location’s regular prices are different, and Walmart does not issue a weekly ad every week. I’ve listed Walmart at the end of each week’s Deals writeup, because if you see any deals above that you want, you’ll likely also be able to do them at Walmart.

As always, these deals are guidelines for shopping. I can make no guarantee that these items will be on sale, in stock, or available at your area store. I can also not guarantee your Catalinas will print, your cashier will smile at you while you check out, or that your shopping cart won’t have a broken wheel. But I CAN teach you how to save money :)
And, also, as always, a huge thanks to the many readers who posted and emailed deals that made it into today’s Deals of the Week! We’re all in this together, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who spots and passes along good deals that we can all enjoy :) Thank you… to YOU!
* All You magazine: If you like coupons, you will probably really enjoy it. It’s an inexpensive magazine ($2.49 an issue) that is filled with many coupons each month. Subscribing via the pink banner on the right drops the price to $1.67 per issue. Depending on the values, if you use 2 or 3 coupons alone from each issue, you’ve recouped the cost of the magazine, and you’re on your way to even bigger savings.)

At CVS look for battery packs with bonus Qs attached- save $10 on PG brands and it includes $1/1 Bounty paper towels, so ou can buy batteries first, then open the packs and buy your Bounty if that’s what you want.
Aveeno also has $1/1 Q in the same insert as $3/2. Limit is 6 deals, not 1 like it says in the ad. I bought 4, got $12 back and my receipt says I can buy 8 more.
All Christmas stuff is 50% off, so good time to use that $5/$20 Holiday decor that was printing a week or two ago. And if you had any of the Fragrance Qs from the machine (I had $7/1 Brittney Spears, Mariah Carey…) the sets are also 50% off, so I got it only for $3!

I cannot locate the break stones or Kraft salad dressing in this insert. I’m in the Oswego area so perhaps the insert didn’t contain?
Has anybody located in their insert? Thanks

Is 69 cents all the time at Woodmans. The 50 cent coupon makes them only 19 cents. Much cheaper than Jewel’s sale price.

If you drink soda a lot and unfortunately my hubby does…the CVS deal is great if you buy cans. They are three 12 packs for $10 so after buying 9 and the the ECB they are $20 and it comes out to $2 a twelve pack or under 20 cents a can. There never seem to be qs for regular pepsi only max or diet.
TeeKay1972 says
Is that a good price for the Pampers if I include t in the spend $30 get $10 ECB? We just found out that if everything goes as planned my husband and I are adopting a newborn boy due Feb. 5. So I am looking to stockpile baby things. Paying for finalizing the
adoption, and then having to get everything baby in the next month is going o stretch the budget beyond thin….plus who wants to do additional shopping in Feb with a newborn in tow….

To save an extra .50 on the DiGiorno Pizza Deal at Target, sign up for an account with Ibotta. You take a one question survey and sometimes have to watch a commercial but it is an additional way to get money back. I just uploaded my receipt from Target and got the .50 added to my account. Other offers included $1 off Simply Juices (Lemonade/Orange), deodorant, etc. Check stores for each item, but it looks like most can be purchased at most national chains Target, CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.

I see in your recap you have free baileys coffee creamer. I’ve looked at your breakdown of stores 3 times, so either I’m just blind or it’s not on sale.

The big boxes of diapers at the Orland Meijer are $37.99. So $60.98 after $15 discount for buying 2. I was able to use 2 $3 printables from Walmart’s website and 2 $3 off Target store coupons from the 12/2 Target insert to get another $12 off. The high price actually worked well for me because I only needed a few things, and easily hit $75 so I could use the $5 off mperks coupon.

I did the deal at Walgreens for the Thermacare and I was able to find 3 boxes of 3ct with a free extra 1 inside. I spent $14.97 for 3 boxes minus $8.00 in coupons, minus 4000 points, for a total of $2.97, a dollar a box. Fantastic!! It is a good deal for my husband who has trouble with his wrists. Thanks Jill for the deal. Happy New Year!!

These are part of the B2G1 sale that started on Sunday. Look for specially marked packages that each have a $2/1 coupon on them. They are $6.99 each, so the cost for three is $13.98, minus $6, bringing it down to $7.98 for three bottles. We’ve got bugs and germs in our house :P so we’re in need of meds. Hope this helps!
Thanks to Jill for another year of bringing us news and updates of fabulous deals and important news to us all. Remember those tips on dishwashing tabs and tub cleaning? This is one stop shopping, people! :)

It looks like your heading title is the problem (“The More You Shop” Catalina Sale. Buying each of these items will generate a Catalina. Some items require multiple quantities purchased.). When it’s longer than one line, it appears on TOP of the next line. And that next line is obscured.
