Many Jewel-Osco shoppers have written to ask what’s up with the FREE Arla cream cheese printable coupon on RedPlum’s site at the moment. This coupon says it is valid on a FREE 7-ounce tub of Arla at Jewel-Osco and other Albertsons/Safeway family stores.
The problem? Jewel-Osco’s coupon policy explicitly prohibits the usage of ANY free-product printable coupons at their stores:
The following conditions apply: DO NOT accept internet coupons for free product offers which do not require a qualifying purchase
Shoppers are reporting that they are not being allowed to use this printable coupon because it violates Jewel’s coupon policy. (It’s also why I’ve held off posting a link to it until now.) However, I’m getting a lot of email about it now because look what this weekend’s MyMixx offer is:
As regular Jewel shoppers know, Jewel’s coupon policy allows you to combine a Buy One Get One FREE offer with another coupon on the first item. However, the MyMixx offer prohibits shoppers from combining it with any other offer.
I reached out to Jewel-Osco earlier this week to ask whether the printable Arla free-product coupon is legitimate. Due to the fact that it is specifically advertising Jewel as one of the stores to redeem the coupon at, I suspected it may have been offered in partnership between Jewel and Arla.
Today, Jewel’s corporate confirmed that they had approved the Arla coupon and it is okay to use in stores. They are in the process of communicating to stores that it is acceptable.
If you do try to use the free Arla cream cheese printable coupon in store, please be patient with your cashiers. This is the first time that I can recall any free-product printable coupon being acceptable at Jewel in the 9+ years I’ve been blogging about Jewel-Osco, so it’s likely that the cashiers’ initial impulses will be to -not- accept it.
Thanks to everyone who wrote to bring this situation to my attention – it’s an unusual one for sure!

will the “May not be combined with any other coupon or offer.” in the MyMixx fine print hinder this? or is Jewel-Osco’s lenient policy on B1G1F coupons enough to limit the scope of things so we’re only considered as using one coupon or offer per item (i.e. there’s no overlap)?
i was able to use the Redplum a week or so ago without trouble, and the restriction on Internet freebies had totally slipped my mind.
any idea what the “while supplies last” RedPlum coupon fine print means? is the item going to go away soon, or is that in reference to the coupon itself?

You know, I completely missed the “may not be combined” wording on this. I’ve gotten so much email that I assumed everyone was reading it the same way (and we all know what happens when we assume!) I’ve edited above.
I believe the “while supplies lasts” refers to the availability of prints in this campaign.

we tried to redeem this coupon yesterday and were denied. should I show them this on my phone or should I go to Jewel on facebook? not sure how to proceed.

It’s a tough situation because officially, their policy prohibits it. However, this particular coupon was approved by Jewel. I have an email here from corporate dated 9/26 saying it is fine to use in stores — however, they may not have communicated it to all stores.
