Eagle-eyed reader Jackie spotted a super deal on Herbal Essences haircare at CVS!
6-14oz. Herbal Essences shampoo, conditioner and stylers are on sale for $2.50 at CVS.
There’s a “$5 off 2 Clairol Products” coupon too! While the coupon shows haircolor, it states “TWO Clairol Products.” Herbal Essences IS a Clairol product! So, use this coupon for TWO FREE BOTTLES! Jackie writes that the coupon scanned just fine, and reminds us “if CVS is out, you can always price match Walmart and Target!”
UPDATE: P&G sent over the following statement regarding these coupons. P&G’s intent was for the coupon to state any “Two Clairol haircolor:”
Thank you for reaching out regarding the $5 off of 2 Clairol products coupon in Sunday’s newspaper and we sincerely apologize for any confusion it may have caused. It was our intent that the coupon be good for $5 off of any 2 Clairol hair color products. Herbal Essences is marketed separately under the Herbal Essences brand name, and the coupon for the shampoo & conditioner was found on the page following our Clairol coupon. However, we understand that the wording of the coupon does not clarify hair color, so apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We hope that you can respect our original intention of offering $5 off of any 2 Clairol hair color products, so that we can continue to provide value offers in the future. Thank you for reaching out to us first for clarity.
For consumers that have asked specifically about whether or not retailers will get redemptions:
Yes, since this was our mistake, we will honor those redemptions that have come through. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused, and sincerely thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns.
I’m taking the deal off the homepage – P&G will honor this if you’ve already used your coupons. But I will no longer use this coupon for future matchups for anything other than haircolor.

I just went this morning, but I will go back and get more Herbal Essence. I LOVE the red bottle for long hair. My daughter’s hair is past her butt and this conditioner works GREAT! My hair is long too, but not that long, and I just love how easy it makes brushing my hair. Here’s to trying to get more free stuff. :)
Just so you know: I spent $8.35 on 22 items at CVS this morning, before tax. (I spent more on the tax on my second transaction then I did on the actual order after all my coupons.)
8 pantene
2 herbal essence
2 kit kat minis
1 soft soap body wash
4 always radiant pads
2 crest mouth washes
3 dawn olay dish soap

I read on another website that Clairol has confirmed that although they make Herbal Essence products, the $5/2 Clairol Product coupon in today’s inserts is intended to be used only on Clairol Hair Color. Jill, do you know if this is true? I wouldn’t want to continue using this coupon if the stores don’t get reimbursement for it.

…once again.
This is a classic example of why couponers are getting a bad rap.
Veteran couponers. KNOW that this coupon is intended for the hair color.
I happened to Pop In and read this thread and inquired with P&G…
Without specifically quoting Procter…word for word, they were surprised that the public were being assured that the usage of this particular coupon was being redeemed for other than the hair color.
Yes, I know that a picture says a 1000 words, but this is going a little to far.

Clairol is now saying that they will take responsibility for the error and retailers will be reimbersed. You can find it on their facebook page.

I’ve been talking with P&G this morning about getting something official to post, but it is up on their Facebook page now:

now that we have an official position, this begs the question-would you use these for the shampoo/conditioner? I’m still not sure myself…
