Hi Jill. Great give-away.
Snacks are a tough one. Lately I’ve been trying to pair protein with a fruit or vegetable. Some (like celery and hummus) are an old-fashioned easy combo. Here’s some others I’ve come up with:
* Strawberries dipped in warmed honey (to make it thin) and then diced walnut pieces
* Apple slices and peanut butter
* Melon balls with greek yogurt
* Black bean dip (or white bean dip) and cut vegetables (celery, broccoli stalks, carrots, etc…)
* Banana berry bread (whole wheat banana tea bread with extra berries and flax)

Instead, I bought a 6 pack of the little round reusable Glad containers for about $2.50 and make my own jello. It takes less than 5 minutes every Sunday. I can generally get 4 packages of jello for $1.00. The containers pay for themselves the first time you use them!

Another vote for healthy snacks.
Carrots, celery, grape tomatoes perhaps with some ranch dip.
Just about any fruit, especially something that doesn’t have to be cut or peeled in advance.
When we do chips, we bag our own, instead of paying a fortune for the pre-packaged stuff. You can convert an entire bag of chips into a pile of pre-bagged lunch portions in a few minutes instead of keeping the open bag around for a week and filling one a day.

We make our own lunchables by using fondant or small cookie cutters on deli meats and cheeses. We do the same with thin slices of apples, then we soak those in lemon juice and water to prevent browning. The kids love making their own shapes. I make my own sandwiches with the scraps.
I also make my own squeeze applesauce by putting homemade apple sauce into ziploc bags. They cut a corner off and suck the applesauce right out of it. We also make our own Gogurt type snacks the same way. For lunches, I freeze yogurt into ice cube trays, put 2 in a bag in the morning and it’s thawed by lunchtime.

I like cheddar cheese and grapes or apples for a snack. Then I wash it down with some diet soda to cut the phlegm.
My son loves to melt cheddar cheese on top of triscuts in the microwave. Occasionally, he will add some peperoni on top. He also eats goldfish by the bowls full (almost a teen).
String cheese and grapes or go-gurt are my daughters favorites.

I forgot to comment on my sons favorite lunch items lol He loves when I cut up celery or carrots. I use the little rubbermaid containers for ranch, he loves that. Also apple sauce is a favorite of his, along with red grapes, frozen. At times he likes the yogurt tubes, I usually put them in the freezer. It is still somewhat cold/frozen at lunch time. Kids love that.

It looks yummy and I would love to win!! I am new at this. I am learning how to navigate the site. How do you post info. on good deals you saw. ? For instance, tonight I was at Dominics in Romeoville, Il. They had 2 Qt “Cool Juice”. It is 100% juice usually $3.49 each. They were 2 for $4.00 with your Domnincs card, plus with a 1.00 off coupon added to many of the cartons. I bought all 3 flavors – $1.00 x 3= $3.00!!! I was excited about the savings. mimi s
