When I returned from BlogHer in July, one of my favorite pieces of convention swag was the KISS Tornado 360 hair dryer. I couldn’t wait to try it out! The KISS Tornado 360 features a patented rotating air concentrator. When you use a traditional hair dryer, you know how you have to shake the dryer back and forth to avoid scorching your hair or scalp? With the KISS Tornado 360, you no longer have to shake it. The dryer “shakes” the airflow for you to prevent scorching.

More about the KISS Tornado 360:

The KISS Tornado 360 is a 1875-watt ceramic tourmaline ionic hair dryer. It has three heat settings (hot, warm, cold) and two speed settings (high and low.) The rotating Tornado air concentrator is removable in case you want to use it as a “standard” hair dryer. It also comes with a traditional flat air concentrator.

So, how does it work? Extraordinarily well! Consider that my previous hair dryer was a free-after-Register-Rewards Conair from a Walgreens deal a few years ago. It, too, claims to be an 1875-watt hair dryer, but wattage alone does not a good hair dryer make, apparently. Whenever I get my hair cut at my favorite salon, I often envy how fast and easily my stylist’s professional dryer steams the water out of my hair – it’s super-fast and my hair seems to dry much more quickly than with my Walgreens freebie. I once asked my stylist how much her hair dryer was, and she said “Oh, you can’t get a good one for under $100.”

There went my professional-dryer dreams. Until now. I opened my new KISS Tornado 360 and snapped the Tornado air concentrator on. When I turned it on and used it for the first time, it was definitely a different experience than using my former dryer. For one, it dries hair very quickly. It used to take me about 30 minutes to dry my hair, and now I can get it done in about 15-20, depending on how I am styling it. This dryer will visibly “steam” the water out of your hair at its highest setting.

It also feels different when you use it. The rotating air stream feels almost like a pulsating showerhead feels — if the showerhead were pouring out forced air instead of water, anyway. I like that the tornado concentrator has a curved shape that perfectly fits the arc of a round brush too – it makes blowouts so easy! Remember how my stylist said I couldn’t get a good hair dryer for “under $100?” Well, she was wrong. The KISS Tornado 360 retails for $24.97 at Walmart! And, here’s a $5 coupon to drop it to $19.97! That’s a steal when so many other hair dryers of comparable power are priced much higher. Honestly, prior to reviewing it, I wasn’t sure quite what to write about a hair dryer that hasn’t already been said — but I was so pleasantly surprised. This is a great product.

(And my old hair dryer? It’s been relegated to our camping tote, where its new purpose will consist of inflating camp air beds.)
