Wal-Mart recently rolled out a new app called Savings Catcher, which helps shoppers compare prices on merchandise and then pays them the cost differences on a gift card. About half of the receipts that the app has processed so far have qualified for a refund because it found lower prices at different stores.
“We cannot let our competition beat us on price,” [Wal-Mart US CEO Greg] Foran said.
When you use Walmart’s Savings Catcher app to submit your receipts (you can do this over the web too) it searches for lower prices at stores near you, then refunds the savings to a Walmart gift card for you.
Through 2/28/15, if you load your Savings Catcher Rewards to a Bluebird card (it’s free!) you’ll receive TWICE the rewards! So, if you have $10 in price-match rewards coming to you, have them loaded to your Bluebird card and they’ll double to $20.
With Yahoo reporting that half the receipts submitted qualify for money back, that’s a pretty good deal..!

So far, Savings Catcher has not helped me because I check out all the local ads, and buy items where they are priced the lowest, or, on rare occasions, I price-match at Walmart. I have, however, discovered a situation in which Savings Catcher is a good thing.
I have an elderly relative who can no longer drive, nor does she have the energy required to go from store to store. She often only feels like making one stop, in which case, she usually chooses to go to Walmart. I would help her price-match, but I never know ahead of time what she is going to buy. She doesn’t have access to a computer, so I have been submitting her receipts to Savings Catcher. The first two times, she got back a total of 81 cents, but the third time, she bought coffee that happened to be on sale at one of the national drug store chains, so she got back $2.94. That’s not too shabby. It will add up over time, and she will have a little extra to put toward groceries.
My thoughts on Savings Catcher are that it doesn’t necessarily work for everyone, but, just like any other store promotion, there is a group that it appeals to.

For the 5 receipts I’ve submitted, they matched Food 4 Less and Dollar General, along with Meijer, Jewel, CVS, and Walgreens. I wonder if they have a certain milage from the store you purchased at?? I price match in store, and then submit just in case. I’ve gotten back $1.78 so far, not much, but something.

That’s terrible! That means that half the time you are overpaying! And then wait until they give you the gift card to their store. Not a great deal.

All I can say about this program its full of XXXX read between the lines. on that one I went in to Wal-Mart specifically to purchase a few things to see how there program was going to work here in Orlando, Fl where I live Aldi had grapes 1.19 a pound Wal-Mart they were 1.49 a pound okk I entertained they to see what was going to happen and how there catcher was going to do I new what I was buying and put Wal-Mart to the test well I am here to let you know they did not match Aldi price I wrote in to Wal-Mart on there saving Catcher website all they did was toss me a email to look at the guide lines then had the nerves to send me a link on there customer service and the attentiveness on responding asap. What a joke. For all those Wal-Mart lovers out there keep shopping with them but do not ever lash out on a writer on here because you have not had a bad experience with them and they have in my opinion I worked for the grocery industry for 16 years and there customer and employee practices are a joke. I actually had a law suit in the state of Nevada with them cause I was a union member and when they found out I was a union member told me they were not going to hire me well after the union found this out and the labor board they fought on my defense and I won the law suit. Not everyone will love Wal-Mart and some will not to me if shopping with this company saves you money knock yourself out and happy savings is my moto. I just needed to share this cause I read some comments on here people lashing out on other readers cause of there bad experiences and it is not right you do not know there experience with them they can be like me and walked the GREEN MILE with them. Thats all.
