InnovAsian Cuisine’s Lemon Grass Kitchen is a new line of restaurant-quality frozen Thai and Vietnamese meals! I was recently invited to try some Lemon Grass Kitchen entrees with my family and share my thoughts. Continue reading too, as one of my lucky readers will have a chance to win a coupon for a FREE Lemon Grass Kitchen entree too! We enjoy many varieties of Asian foods, so we were looking forward to trying Lemon Grass Kitchen. Nationally, these entrees are available at Walmart and Safeway stores. Choose from the following varieties:
- Beef & Broccoli Noodles
- Chicken Pad Thai
- Lemongrass Chicken Stir Fry
- Red Curry Sauce with Chicken
- Shrimp Pad Thai
- Thai-Style Chicken Fried Rice
We selected three 18-ounce entrees for a Thai-themed dinner at our house: Beef & Broccoli noodles, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Thai-Style Chicken Fried Rice.
All of the entrees have both microwave and stovetop preparation instructions. The boxes state that microwave is “preferred.” I decided to cook the Beef & Broccoli Noodles on the stovetop, cooking the other two entrees in the microwave.
Inside the box, each entrees ingredients are separated into individual bags. Here you can see the vegetables, beef, noodles and sauce from the Beef & Broccoli Noodles.
When cooking on the stovetop, the instructions stated to heat the noodles with a few tablespoons of water, then add the rest of the ingredients.
When cooking in the microwave, add all ingredients to the dish, cover, and cook for 5-6 minutes.
The broccoli beef was my favorite! It was very tasty and was ready to eat in less than ten minutes.
Here’s the Shrimp Pad Thai! My husband and one of my sons thought this one was their favorite. If I had it to cook over again, I’d have made this one on the stovetop too. I think the consistency of the noodles and the thickness of the sauce was better in my pan-cooked entree than in my microwaved entree. You have to add water to reheat, and this sauce came out just a bit watery to me. (I bet the sauce would have cooked down perfectly in the pan.) It had a good flavor though – not too spicy, but definitely not mild either.
The Thai-Style Chicken Fried Rice was the easiest to prepare, as everything was already mixed in one bag. I put this in the microwave in a Corning Ware dish with a lid. It cooked up well and the rice was exactly “right.” You know how rice reheated in the microwave either comes out too wet or too dry? This rice was take-out restaurant quality. It had a hint of a citrusy flavor too that we all liked. The box recommended serving it with lime wedges, and that little splash of lime made the rice even tastier.

…I was spoiled getting those from Dominicks on $5 Fridays with coupons…but I digress.
My son will eat the Broccoli Beef products so I am willing to try.
Is the Pad Thai a spicy dish?
With any frozen meals like these, stove top always works out better and it usually is only 10-12 minutes anyway and not dry. Sometimes I add some Teriyaki Basting sauce to stretch the flavor out on some of these products as I am married to “gravy/sauce man” who likes a lot of sauce with his meals.
