Over the past week, many readers have heard a buzz about a new fuel rewards program at Jewel-Osco. I just received the official information about it to share with you:
We’ve teamed up with Shell fuel stations to help our customers save even more! Sign up for a My JEWEL-OSCO Rewards™ Card to start earning Fuel Rewards® savings—for every $50 you spend on qualifying purchases at participating JEWEL-OSCO stores using your new card, a 5 cent off per gallon Fuel Reward will automatically be loaded to your new card. Fuel Rewards savings are redeemable at participating Shell stations, up to 20 gallon limit, per vehicle. You don’t need to spend $50 in a single transaction, as long as you use your new card every time you shop you’ll earn credit towards your next Shell Fuel Reward. Spending more than $50? You’ll earn 5 cent rewards for every $50 spent on qualifying purchases—so your $100 purchase is 10 cents off. Scan your new card at participating JEWEL-OSCO to earn, and insert your new card at participating Shell stations to redeem. It’s that simple!
Fuel Rewards can be earned at participating JEWEL-OSCO locations, and redeemed at any of the 350+ participating Shell locations in the greater Chicagoland area. Need more reasons to sign up for a My JEWEL-OSCO Rewards Card? It can help you save on more than just fuel! The new card offers all the same great savings as your current Preferred Customer Card and can even get you the Preferred Card price on items throughout the store. You can even download grocery ecoupons directly to your new card.
Here’s the new link to load ecoupons to your new Rewards card.
I have a special giveaway for my readers in conjunction with the new Jewel-Osco Rewards card – head over to this link to sign up for your new card and be entered to win a $100 Jewel-Osco gift card AND a $100 Shell gas gift card!
You can also sign up online to receive your new card!

Is the availability of this card effective immediately? Glad to hear they rolled this out.

How do we redeem our 5 or 10 cents off at the Shell if we only use our card on our keychain? And is redemption a one-time deal?

participating jewel. 2 years ago when they had the gas rewards the only participating jewel stores were the ones that had a gas station. my daughter lived in lombard at the time and shopped at that jewel. she came to oak forest to visit and scanned her card at our jewel gas station and didnt get the rewards. when she went inside the clerk told her the rules. the lombard jewel wasnt a participating store cause they didnt have a gas station. wonder if it will be like that again with shell since all the jewel gas stations converted to shell.

I’m interested to see if this new partnership helps Jewel’s bottom line and is a true perk for customers! Thanks for doing this giveaway!

I think I signed up to upgrade, but I saw no option to print out a temporary new card. How long will it take my new card to arrive? It asked me if I had a rewards card already, so I clicked that and put in my rewards card number. Then, when I go to my account to check on my fuel rewards balance I get taken to another site (FR (Fuel Rewards)) where it looks like I have to sign up for that. FTW?

I think I am going to have to go into the store to upgrade my card because when I try it online it will not let me use my current e-mail address…They want me to provide a new one. I want to use my old e-mail address. Frustrating.

So, it this new card going to replace the Preferred Card? I am a little confused here.
coupondad says
I signed up using my preferred card. Gas rewards are accumulating on my 20+ year card, I did not want a “new” card.
Today i tried to access my rewards account to check on the balance and was not able to log in.
Tried with email as well as member number, no luck.
Called the 1-888 number and they were able to access the account and give us the rewards balance but to do so online
we were told we had to submit all our information again to Fuel Rewards Network. Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks.

So I really thought this was a great thing, but yesterday when we went to use our $.05 off per gallon for signing up, we noticed that the Shell stations were $.05 higher per gallon than every other gas station in town. :(

I went to a particpating Shell and tried to use the card, but it would not show the discount. He told me that this is limited to a 20 gallon purchase PER MONTH. Is he correct?

Hi- I have a sister that lives in New Orleans, and I go to jazz fest in New Orleans most years, and I get to stay at her place for free. I have gone there 8 years, and I love it, but I love jazz. They also have other big name acts. This year they are having Dave Matthews Band, Billy Joel and Willie Nelson s s bunch of other BNA. You pay $50 for all day admission 11::00am-7:00pm, and there are always at least 10 stages going on at once.
A few years ago Shell became the major sponsor for jazz fest, and when I logged onto the jazz fest site yesterday, I noticed that Shell will give you $.10 off a gallon of gas if you purchase a ticket for jazz fest and you are a FRN member. I don’t know if you purchase three tickets you then get $.30 off a gallon of gas, or if you can only use one ticket. This year the fest is taking place April 26-28, and May 2-5. It is officially called the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, but everyone refers to it as jazz fest. They also have wonderful food there.
You can take Amtrack down to New Orleans for $125 one way, with several discounts possible. Right now Southwest is the only airline that has decent deals. I am taking Amtrack down there, with a 15% off senior discount, and I am flying back on Southwest for $140. Hope this helps, Nancy
